i feel like i might really get slammed for this but i truly don't get where the whole "eva tsunaka is a chronically online tumblr girl" joke came from. i guess because she's a nerd? but she's very much a nerd in the sense of unironically enjoying writing essays on astrophysics and studying mathematical theories that would make any other person rip their hair out. and i'm aware 'chronically online' and 'chronically a genius' nerds can coexist in the same person, but like. i think maybe we are losing the plot a little here. eva enjoys old consoles and the worst video games you've never heard of in your life. her favorite books are by authors who sound made-up. she has riemann's hypothesis memorized and she'd love to explain it to you. she has a very dry sense of humor that is more reminiscent of someone who doesn't fully understand what tiktok is. if you referenced a shitpost in front of her she would ask you to speak normally. if you spoke in brainrot she would look at you funny. eva's biggest problem is that she wants to be applauded for her efforts outside of mathlete competitions; if she's spending any time online, it's to research for the next project she's putting together, or to harass the UTP a little more about changing her title on throwaway email address #457. i dunno, i just replayed chapter 1 daily life and i could very well just be missing something but like. it never really made much sense to me lol.

We're told that at the beginning of the Golden Age "human lifespans tripled" - my impression is that this continues to be a case and that the humans we know are often well over 100 years old. In my head at least, Eva is in her mid 200s. Am I wrong, or is this supported by canon?
I believe it is still the case, though finding evidence is really difficult, mostly because we simply don't have a timeline. I think it would make sense for this to still be in effect because nothing else from the Traveler's terraforming and gifts was removed post-Collapse.
However, the question is also how much of the extended lifespan was due to the paracausality of the Traveler and its gifts and how much was just advancement in technology. Or a combination of both? If the majority of the lifespan extension was just due to technology, then this would've been lost post-Collapse. But possibly some of it could have been regained in the recent years, affecting the lifespans again.
One of the most obvious questions is Eris and the status of Lightless Guardians and aging. She lost her Light in the Great Disaster which was quite a while ago, but how long ago exactly? Long enough for this to affect her? Long enough to be noticeable or not? It doesn't seem to be very noticeable, so either it wasn't too long ago, or Guardians don't age even after losing their Light, or the lifespan is still extended so Eris is just old and it's not a big deal.
Eva is also a curious case, as we know very little about her life. She's very clearly an older woman, but we have no idea about when she was born. There's not a single mention of anything from her youth that would help us place it somewhere in the timeline. Has she been around for a normal amount of time or extended? She made one comment to Osiris (at the time Savathun, but Eva didn't know that):
"Eva. It's been too long. You look as bright as ever." Osiris melted out of the shadows near her doorway. The ex-outfitter snorted. "That's faint praise coming from someone who's been fifty for several centuries."
More under:
This can be read in several ways. it might just be a phrase because Guardians are known to not age. She knows Osiris must be the same as he was when he was rezed and she knows that he's been around for a while, given that he's a well-known Guardian. Or maybe she's also been around for a while and has seen him before; while she aged normally over the centuries, he didn't.
But that also becomes a problem with his exile because that would mean she would have to have seen him for a while before his exile and then years would've passed during the exile and she's still around now, which would make her quite significantly old (and would also prove extended lifespans). But we have no real proof of this.
Speaking of Osiris and his exile, there is one other specific piece of evidence, but it also depends A LOT on how well we can estimate when certain events happened.
Sister Faora! She led the Cult of Osiris at the time of Osiris' exile (and for ?? years after). We know this because she got to meet Osiris merely weeks after his exile:
The weeks since his departure from the Last City have worn on him.
The last time she appeared in the setting (in-game wise) was around House of Wolves; after that, she was no longer mentioned. I honestly thought she died of old age and that this wasn't important enough to mention because she's a fairly niche character.
But she didn't die. She appeared in the City during Season of the Deep. And it's not a story of something from the past, it's her being in the City in the present time because she meets with Shayura who is mourning Reed-7's death (which occured at the start of Lightfall). This now gives us a unique insight because she's a normal Lightless human, and we have two specific points of reference: Osiris' exile and the Witness' attack on Earth in Lightfall. We would just have to figure out how long it's been between these two events, which is where the problems start and assumptions must be made.
My first assumption is that Faora must've already been old-ish when she was the leader of the Cult back during Osiris' exile. I think it's reasonable to assume this, given her position as a leader. I always thought she would've been at least 40 or older at the time of speaking to Osiris after his exile.
The first problem is the timeline of Osiris' exile. We know he was exiled around Twilight Gap which brings us to problem 2: when was that? This leads to assumption 2: Twilight Gap happened at least a century ago. There's some evidence to this, namely Osiris saying the following:
They were young, and nearly a century of navigation through the Infinite Forest had honed Osiris's ability to remain unseen.
But does this refer to the time passing in general or the time dilation in the Forest? So the problems continue. It's basically impossible to tell what's the time span between these events; both the Great Disaster (for the question of Eris' age) and Twilight Gap are notoriously hard to place, even in relation to each other. This has been an ongoing debate for years.
If Twilight Gap is not that long ago - maybe a few decades - then Faora's age could probably be within normal limits, though depending on her age at the time of Osiris' exile, she could be pushing 100 or more. So even if Twilight Gap was less than 50 years ago, Faora could still be too old for non-extended lifespans.
She would have to have been in her 20s and Twilight Gap would have to be at max 50 years ago for her to be within a reasonable current age if the lifespan is not extended. Both of these estimates feel too low to me, especially Faora's age as an established leader of the Cult with a lot of authority. As I said, I imagined her being at least 40-50 at the time of speaking to Osiris.
And Twilight Gap has to be at least several decades away. I find it hard to believe that the Gap happened like 20 years ago; it's always talked about like Guardian history and its relation to Osiris' exile is fairly significant as well, so I'd give it at least a century, which also matches with Osiris' statement. If Twilight Gap happened at least a century ago and Faora was at least 40 at that time, she would have to be 140 right now which I think would suggest extended lifespan. However, depending on how we do the estimates, she could easily also be around 60-70.
But the truth is, we don't know. Much like the timeline, I think this is also very deliberately vague. I think it's very possible that the lifespans are still extended, or perhaps that there is some middle ground. The original Golden Age lifespans are still out of reach but the technological advancements in the current age combined with everything the Traveler has done to the system in the Golden Age allow for humans to push past what we have today. So maybe they can't get to the projected Golden Age 300 years, but possibly being 150 or 200 isn't out of reach.
Unfortunately, we don't really know for sure. We could probably go into analysis of every normal mortal human character mentioned and try to figure things out, but there will be confusing and contradicting evidence all over the place, keeping this fairly vague. And there would also be the issue of individual outliers; either those that live longer or die younger for reasons unrelated to aging.
Personally, I think lifespans are at the very least at least somewhat extended.

LIVEBLOG: Wakfu Season 4, Episode 7
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grandpa piss, being a part of the Remote Viewers Division doesn't prevent you from being a deadbeat. KILL him Eva.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What were YOU doing at the devil's sacrement, King [insert name here] Sheran-Sharm!
Tumblr media
I love women who are tortured for an eternity and then die in some way that will not kill them in a way that matters #signaliscore posts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man haha I wonder if this might be saying something about Yugo (and Joris, but that goes without saying on this blog)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have seen people criticize this moment, but let me be the devil's advocate: after seeing years of fans saying that Flopin is the boring twin, or that Eva has no backstory, them getting a problem-causing grandpa is literally so good.
And I think I understand why Flopin did this, since he says himself that he actually feels like the boring twin... I understand why he felt like going with this man, to learn about this guild, and where he comes from.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[starts hacking up blood] you know what other duo of demigods in this franchise had a twin who felt like they were living in the shadow of their sibling and his wonderful white fur—- [is shot by animal control]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I loooove comparing all the characters in this show, because it's genuinely a good way to approach Krosmoz, since Tot likes exporing the same themes (immortality/family) over, and over, and over, and over. And what I can say rn is: man, having normal parents makes jealousy-based plots much more tame. Atcham went in a "I want to be great like you, so I need to end you, you don't care about me like I care about you anyway" direction instead of a "I want to be great like you, so I'm gonna leave and work on myself, and then we can stand side by side someday"
Tumblr media
I do think he is going to hurt his sister in some major way with this decision and in the end it will be a bitter, or bittersweet memory <3 I believe in the power of toxicity <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To elaborate on the thing I said about titles, Astra is the ruling queen (to be precise, she is the daughter of the king of Bonta who was mentioned in seasons 1-2 and OVAs, who seems to have passed away); while her wife is either queen-consort, or a princess-consort.
However, Wakfu kingdoms may have worse, weirder rules than real life about inheritance.
The reason I am not getting my panties in a twist about the same-sex aspect of this (besides me supporting toxic royal yuri + being against homophobia or whatever) is that this is a magical universe, idk. they could adopt or get magically pregnant. It's literally a non-issue for me. UNLIKE PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTANDING THE CONSORT SYSTEM AND—-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris is present in all the kingdoms as Yugo's emotional support mediator/ambassador, except for Brakmar. I assume they simply do not let this fucking man into their palace, and rightfully so. He's literally a Bontarian narc. He'd use that chance to steal documents or some shit.
Btw I find it so funny how he keeps the same neutrally haunted look.
Tumblr media
If a Bonatrian political leader goes for a week without wanting to start genocide against a people who isn't into the main 12 gods, they start getting the shakes from withdrawal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I imagine living for hundreds of years and experiencing unimaginable suffering would make one pretty averse to being bossed around by some random guy who was born into wealth and has not known a second of grief in their life.
Tumblr media
I feel it is important to point out: Joris was the one who made sure the meeting with Astra happened. He also felt this was important enough to try and organize meetings with other kings and queens. This is a dangerous situation.
As always, absolutely nobody listened. Nobody ever listens.
As I was saying, I imagine living for hundreds of years and experiencing un—-
Tumblr media
I think the fact that Joris went with them has to say something about him. Yes, it is probably his sense of responsibility — he doesn't exactly want bad things to happen...
But also it explicitly puts a wedge between him and the Bontarian government. He values Yugo more.

I'll hand it to "the Hound," it gave me a lot to think about.
This has been bouncing around my skull for a few days, though it's not really something that I mentioned in the posts while reading it.
Connla's conception and death are all told in the Hound, but they're also very much changed. I do want to preface that this post is more musing than argument against the book, though I do think it shows a kinda gross through line of a very modern sexism in the story.
So in this, the moment when Connla is conceived is depicted in two tiny panels following Eva (Aife, the angicizations are awful) invading Scáthach's school because... she thinks she could teach better than Scáthach? But then she's welcomed back, so everything is cool, and her and Cú have barely implied sex. Cú leaves to go home from exile early on the next page I think (not sure that's how exile works) with the knowledge that Eva (Aife) is pregnant. Importantly though, when he leaves, all he does is give her a ring for Connla to be identified by, and instruction to send him to Ireland at some point.
The key difference here is that in the original telling (or oldest we have) CúChulainn gives these full instructions, framed as geassa;
Connla cannot turn back once he starts his journey, he must not refuse a challenge, and must never tell anyone his name.
I dont Know Bogan's mind, but it's here that I can see where he may have thought "well that makes no sense, why would he do that?" Which is fair if you don't think too long, it is a mythological telling from a culture we don'thave the full context for, but the solution he settles on is to make Eva (Aife) be the one who insists that Connla not tell his name, and that he should come to Ireland and act as aggressor, rather than simply not be able to turn down a challange. The framing makes this read as some malicious act on her part, as though making CúChulainn kill his own son is an act of vengeance for his unceremonious departure unrelated to her.
It also serves again to remove agency from CúChulainn while I think trying to humanize him. In the original he: willingly couples with her, instructs her to send Connla to him in the future, and puts these geassa on him. It gives Aife in the original test less agency for him to make these choices, but to only give women characters agency to make them temptresses, or malicious and calloused feels like a zero sum at best.
This was supposed to be a shorter post, but I haven't gotten to the thing I even really meant to yet because any analysis of this comic cascades into a half-dozen other things.
The thing I wanted to get to is, in a nutshell, CúChulainn needs to know who he's killing when he fights Connla. It may be my interpretation of the story, but from my repeated readings I think CúChulainn and Emer know who Connla is basically from the moment they arrive on the scene, and are trapped by their own laws and mores to play out the scene as if written ahead of time. This created a much more tragic scene of people who know what they are doing, and must continue to do it anyway. It also createds a much more poignant foreshadowing for CúChulainn's battle at the ford with Ferdiad where CúChulainn is in some ways put in Connla's place, knowing that he must move forward, but knowing ahead of time what it means, while Ferdiad is trapped by his society to try to kill one of his greatest loves.
If CúChulainn doesn't know at all who this random 10 year old is, then it's still a setup for the battle, but only in a thematic framing, without as much emotion.
I said before this post isn't as much about the Comic being bad as the others. And while there is something I'm going to say i. Another post following this that IS. The reason this one isn't is that I totally get these choices, or the motivation for them, I still think theyre badly thought out, because the internal logic of the story is damaged by having these characters do the same actions for different reasons, both internal and external. I can see the problem here especially of "how do you adapt this narrative for a modern audience?"
I think the answer is, don't.
Adapting the characters and changing the reasons for events that need to happen in the story in the way they did here, full of (I don't like that I keep saying modern, because it implies a fundamental difference between then and now in people hearts that I don't think exists) contemporary sensibilities, stemming from a neo-liberal society, started in the late 90's, makes the story flow naturally only if you dont think at all about how events connect. It's building a lego set but the top hald are mega bloks.
All adaptations have an element of authorship and will by their nature be personal to the time and place they are made, adaptations that try to be the exact thing are almost without fail boring and somewhat sterile. This seems to be an intentional overwrite of the original, like they were going to "fix" parts if it, and honestly if you feel like you need to fix something like folklore and mythology in order to make it good, maybe you're not the person to do that adaptation.

Teeny little drabble because writing angry Mia is always such a joy. Ft a very messy sketch bc I'm slightly burnt out and can't be bothered with more detailed things.
---
Miranda was extremely close to making a comment on how Mia's pacing back and forth would tear a hole through her living room carpet. The fact that it was mildly amusing kept her mouth shut, for the time being.
The woman was angrily muttering at herself while occasionally checking her phone, and who could blame her, really. She packed her things and all but ran away with her daughter the day prior, only to wake up exhausted and with a plethora of missing calls and vaguely threatening messages from the BSAA. Miranda wasn't going to go back on her word, she did mean it when she told her that she was welcomed to come to the Village would the need for a safe place arise, but the situation had to be dealt with. Having armed agents at her doorstep and threatening the deal she carefully crafted not even six months ago was not an option.
She sighed when Mia stopped pacing only to narrow her eyes at a window, set off by the rustling of branches outside. "Nobody can cross the border if I don't allow it, calm down."
"Then there's no reason to deal with them," Mia snapped back.
Another sigh and a slight eye roll. "They can't come in but that means we're also trapped in here, Mia. This has to be solved."
"You do it then."
The phone that flew in Miranda's direction was caught without much effort, almost letting out a snort at the childish retaliation. Mia was notoriously good at avoiding anything that had to do with "bureaucratic bullshit", as she liked to put it, even back in their days at The Connections. She knew her way through it, just well enough to be able to duck her head, dodge some files that would then be left in her partner's care, and move on to the more hands-on tasks. Miranda would've called it idiocy in the past, but now she could recognise it as sheer stubbornness.
"Fine," she replied, already looking through the contacts and pressing on the name Chris.
Mia widened her eyes almost comically at the abrupt compliance. She almost expected the phone to be thrown back at her face. She almost hoped that'd happen instead.
It took a total of five seconds to get a reply, the dial tone barely having time to repeat itself twice. "Mia? Where are you are you-"
"It's me."
A long pause, that dragged on for entirely too much.
"Miranda?! Where's Mia and why the fuck do you have her?!"
" 'Have her' is barely the description I would use really," she replied, an amused smirk pulling at her lips. How some people could be so dense was beyond her.
"If you touch a single hair on her or Rose's-"
Miranda took the phone away from her ear, a muffled rant going on that she had grown bored of. She pushed the small device in Mia's hands with an eye roll. "Here, take it. Try not to make them drop a nuclear bomb on us."
And with that, she stepped past her, going to sit on the couch not too far behind them where both Eva and Rose were playing with a small mountain of plushies. She didn't quite feel like getting screaming in her ear first thing in the morning. Besides, no matter what was said here, she knew a meeting with the BSAA to discuss this would be in order soon, so this phone call was nothing but a pesky personal issue between the two of them.
"Yes?" Mia's voice was almost shaky, though most of it could be blamed on those who were meant to protect them getting on each and every single one of her nerves.
"Mia, why on earth are you there?"
"I really like not having a gun pointed at my daughter 24/7, you know," she replied, eyes narrowing.
"You know that's not true, it's just part of our protocol. Nobody wants to shoot Rose."
"Yeah well tell that to the fucking idiot that almost put a bullet through the both of us because she was a normal. Fussy. Baby." Her words were now coming through gritted teeth, probably in an attempt to not scare the two infants in her vicinity by yelling.
"... I'm sorry about that. We shouldn't have assigned a rookie to you two." A deep sigh could be heard through the phone, but it did little to placate Mia's anger.
"I don't care Chris! The BSAA fucked up and your little rebel parade is not gonna fix shit!" Then, three years of frustration just washed over her and crammed themselves into her thoughts and words, coming to drip out like acid. "We moved all the way here, we did everything you asked, even went through your stupid military training that you knew was useless. You owe me."
Chris paused for a moment. He was taking the anger thrown at him rather gracefully, all things considered. "Fine, whatever you like."
"What I like is not being a goddamn prisoner Chris. You can't do shit about Rose, you're not equipped for that whether you want to admit it or not. You know who is though? Miranda!" Her words were accompanied by an angry gesture towards the other woman, who simply chuckled. She was right. "I'm not going back."
"Mia you can't stay there-"
"Book a meeting with the BSAA." She looked at a calendar hanging on the wall. "Thursday. At the southern edge of the border. I'm not coming back with you and god help you if you fucking try anything."
And then she hung up before any reply could come. She was exhausted and mad beyond belief, having spent almost six months under constant surveillance and surrounded by people that were ready to shoot both of them at the drop of a pin. Not to mention the plethora of medication meant to suppress the effects of the Mold.
She blinked in confusion when a mug was pushed in her field of vision. Apparently Miranda had gotten up sometime during the heated phone call and made tea, the sweet fruity aroma calming her nerves just a little.
She accepted the beverage and heard the other woman chuckle. "You have almost a week to prepare your speech, better make it a good one. Now come sit, I'm assuming you didn't get much sleep last night."

Ranking MGS canon ships anon again, and yes you're spot on! Do not hold back, the world needs to know the truth (especially about the Raiden ships)
after an ungodly amount of time: HERE YOU GO ANON
19: Volgin/EVA
I refuse to post an image. I know I normally include images in posts like this but I don't want to look at that guy. Worst relationship in the entire series it's barely even a relationship at all and I wish it wasn't. I don't even want to describe the shit that goes on here. Poor EVA. Augh.
18: Volgin/Raikov
'Why is this so far down the list?' BECAUSE VOLGIN IS INVOLVED. I will never rank a relationship involving him in any way positively because I simply do not trust him to actually treat ANYONE well. God he creeps me out so bad. It may not be confirmed canon that this is an unhealthy relationship but you can't convince me that it isn't, because again. Volgin is involved. And I don't trust like that. Ever.
Also, go look at The Photograph (if you can stomach it). You know the one. Go look at it. The director's commentary says 'look at them smiling' but I only see one smile there. If anyone else can find the second one then please do let me know but I have traced the angle of his mouth and everything and it is distinctly curved downward, also he looks like he hasn't slept in a week. Please get this man some help. No more knocking him out and shoving him in lockers let's just get him some fucking help.
17. Strangelove/Huey
NIGHTMARE TOWN? NIGHTMARE TOWN???????? HELL ON EARTH AND PAIN AND SUFFERING AND AGONY????????????? FIRST OF ALL THAT IS A WHOLE LESBIAN WHY ARE THEY EVEN MARRIED. Secondly oh my god this is so fucked up. Literally what the fuck is wrong with Huey? 'Oh yeah please go out with me so I can marry you and then USE OUR CHILD AS A TEST SUBJECT AND FUCKING MURDER YOU WHILE I'M AT IT.' Sure. Okay. The only reason this isn't at the bottom of the list is because Volgin exists. He messes with the grading curve.
16. Raiden/Rose
Oh you knew this one was going to be low on the list. You knew it would be. This relationship is fucking horrifying and it's equally horrifying that I've actually been vagueposted about for disliking it with the implication that my criticism of it stems from misogyny and not, y'know, the fact that Rose literally lied to and manipulated Raiden for two years and then tried to play the victim and claim it was fine because she loved him and then DIDN'T CHANGE AFTERWARDS. I would probably have a very different view of this relationship if she hadn't immediately turned around and started lying to him and manipulating him AGAIN. She spends two whole games doing this, people. I don't know why anyone thinks this relationship is a good idea. Raiden needs a divorce, stat.
15. (One-sided) Emma/Otacon
Ugh ugh ugh I don't want to talk about this one. It's not as low on the list as it could be on account of how it isn't like, actively abusive, but also it's. Well you all know what it is. I don't want to talk about it.
14. (One-sided) Mistral/Armstrong
I have nothing to say about this one, really. One fucked up person having a thing for another fucked up person who literally never even mentions that she exists. Woohoo.
13. (One-sided) Dolzaev/Mistral
Yeah I don't really have much to say about this one either. Very nothing relationship. I just don't like the people in it.
12. EVA/Big Boss
I just don't like this one. Started off bad and ended up bad and didn't have a whole lot of good stuff in between. Also I'm worried about EVA's ability to even have a normal relationship with a man considering how she talks about men and women.
11. (One-sided) Otacon/Sniper Wolf
Ah, Wolf. The first victim of the Otacon Curse. We hardly knew ye. I don't have a lot to say here.
10. (One-sided) EVA/The Boss
I guess you could debate the canonicity of this one but come on man. Come on. Big Boss can't be the only one with a harem.
9. (One-sided) Strangelove/The Boss
Okay, it's not impossible that this wasn't one-sided, but we'll never know that now, will we? What we did get was kind of sweet, either way.
8. Vamp/Scott Dolph
'This is such a nothing relationship,' you might say. 'Why is it so high on the list?' Well. 1: it was actually reciprocal 2: this one is higher on the list in terms of how PURELY ICONIC it is. Can we get a cheer for canon bi representation? Can we get a cheer for a character being textually confirmed to be bisexual and previously in a relationship with another man? Let's fucking go! Victory!
7. Otacon/Naomi
Even I can't explain why this one is so high. I think it might just be the part where she says he has beautiful eyes. I don't know why that affects me so much. [gestures frantically] He stopped wearing glasses over it! What the hell!
6. Quiet/Venom
There was potential. But it was Metal Gear Solid V, so that potential was squandered. Still, we could have had something.
5. Meryl/Johnny
This one's also pretty nothing but I think about the fact that Meryl rejected his proposal just to turn around and propose herself all the time. Awesome. I love Meryl so much. (Also, it's one of the healthiest relationships in the series, so... win!)
4. Big Boss/Kaz
THE BOX, OKAY? THE BOX. YOU KNOW THE ONE. I KNOW YOU KNOW IT. AND THE SHOWER FIGHT? THEY DID NOT DO ALL THAT JUST TO NOT GET IN THE TOP FIVE. Wow, these two have literally so much going on all at once. Wow.
3. Big Boss/Ocelot
Possibly the most iconic relationship in the series. Fucked up, but iconic. Ocelot got one (1) gay crush and almost destroyed the world over it. Now that's dedication right there.
2. Venom/Kaz
Have you seen them interact? They may not be having shower fights or 'quality time' in the box but there's something there that's just... I don't know, man. It's sweet. Bit fucked up, as most relationships in this series are, but sweet.
1. The Boss/The Sorrow
That's right, folks. Today, straight people have rights.
Look, this relationship destroys me. It just destroys me. They loved each other!!! The fact that the Sorrow found out one of them had to die and just went 'okay, I'll let you kill me' torments me. He could have fought back and tried to kill her instead but he DIDN'T. He literally sacrificed himself for her and their child and I think about it so much. 'The spirit of the warrior will always be with you.' AUGH.
Also the fact that when it rains the Boss asks if he's there... oh my god. Ohhhhhhhh my god. I am incapable of being normal about this.

(different anon here that also needs to rant - apologies in advance) would be also real nice if some stans could just use anti tags and also not insult/namecall real people who like a fictional character that they hate? then they tell you to 'go outside and touch some grass lol just a joke why u mad?' (little do they know some of us are bedridden thanks to covid, so nope I can't! at most I can open a window... being able to see grass and people should be enough tho)
-- also, just to add something: Lisa was canonically 14, a child! when Umbrella started experimenting on her and her family (her parents were executed when the scientists didn't like the results of the experiments)! she was chained like an animal! for 30 YEARS! injected with not just viruses but parasites too! you find most of this in the game!
meanwhile the lords were grown adults emotionally manipulated into being implanted w cadou (one could extrapolate Miranda used the whole family spiel for Donna after losing Claudia - and for Moreau too; finding a cure and being pretty forever for Alcina; unknown for Heisenberg - and yet all that is STILL just reaching on my part :/ ), and the moment she saw they were unfit vessels for Eva she dropped them like hot potatoes, she handed jars of cadou to them (you can find them in their houses, and the Duke has one in his wagon) and p much told them to make themselves useful and experiment on villagers too (while Karl uses corpses, one of his notes practically says that he's one failure away from using live villagers) bc further experiments on unfit vessels would be a waste of her precious time looking for the perfect one. why waste her time on failures when she can use them as more figureheads to keep her godlike status and control over the village?
(this comes from me being a giant lords fan, but being unable to find anything about them being taken from their families as children, experimented on and tortured (as fellow fans say) in the game. i've read every note, quote, concept art text! other than the 'humiliation' and 'forced to serve her for decades' 'won't let us leave' Karl mentions, i saw nothing. so where the f are they getting it from? if there was an article from the devs i missed I'd love to read it! all we know is that they are all the last desendants from their respective noble families, the 4 founding houses (does that mean that they're all kinda rich and powerful? just not moreau lol). maybe dlc will have answers. maybe not.
once again I'm sorry for the long rant.
Yeah, some stans just take it upon themselves to proclaim how "right" they are for liking a specific character, and how everyone who likes other specific characters is stupid and out of touch with reality. Same shit happened in the previous fandom I was in, for the TV show Once Upon a Time. That's the reason why they also refuse to use anti tags. They're so self-absorbed that they think their opinion is the only right one, and that EVERYONE has to hear their negative thoughts about that character because they're RIGHT and EVERONE SHOULD BOW TO THEM HALLELUJAH.
At this point, the moment I see people post negative stuff in main tags without using anti tags, I just block. I used to be against blocking people on tumblr, but at this point it's gotten tiring, and one of the main reasons I visit this hellsite is to peacefully fawn over Mold Dad. I don't have time for people who hate on him (or Mia, for that matter) and think everyone is obligated to listen to them.
I'm not sure how much manipulation there was in Miranda experimenting on the Lords. Heisenberg says, in his diary, "I'll never forgive [Miranda] for what she did to me," referring on her altering his body and taking away his consent and dignity. I thought that she simply kidnapped them and just straight-up experimented on them without any talk about it. Maybe I reached a wrong conclusion, lol. But in any case, they all reach the point where they do the same thing to the rest of the innocent villagers. Heisenberg using dead bodies is still immoral, like, I doubt he had the clear consent of those people, when they were still alive, to use their bodies (concept art shows him overlooking his Soldats or sth gravedigging for new corpses), and using a person's body however you like, without that person having agreed to it during their lifetime, is considered immoral in most cultures. Even if he somehow had the consent of all the people whose bodies hung around his factory, the fact that he even CONSIDERS using live people for his experiments... that's no freedom fighter, darling. That's turning into your abuser. Which is an actual thing that happens sometimes to abuse victims, and a much more interesting dynamic for Heisenberg than woobifying him and only presenting him as an abuse victim. He's not misunderstood. He uses people's corpses to make an army. He's no poor little meow meow. He has a conscience and he woke up and chose violence. And he looked sexy doing it.
Again, I have seen people say "Poor Heisenberg was taken away by Miranda when he was a kid" and I'm like "DUDE WHERE???" If anything all that sounds like further woobification by the stans, like it's okay if you love him and want to give him a super tragic childhood, I'm a whumper myself, I get it, but again it's just a headcanon. Unless I've missed something myself, lol, I'd like to see it if it has.
no worries! you are under no obligation to answer, being acknowledged and letting me rant in your inbox is more than enough <3 was just feeling a bit cranky after my shift yesterday then saw the other anon and brain just went 'I wanna rant about this game too'
Yo, I love this game an irrational amount especially considering its genre, so I love talking about it, and its characters, and everything, and though I try not to dwell on fandom wank, sometimes it feels cathartic to talk about how said fandom wank is just wank XD So rant away about re8 all you want, my inbox is open and waiting! <3

EVA REMAKES RANKING
I saw there were going to be 3 new remakes (crossed fingers it really happens). So, in honnor of that, I decided to make my list of the remake characters (I find it fascinating how each characters is derived from the same character but still manage to be different somehow). Begining with Eva's. Feel free to discuss in the comments (respectfully of course, and if anyone actually reads this lol)
(also, since I never watched Skam Italia, I obviously won't include it)
Ok let's go!
Edit :
Here is the Jonas ranking
Here is the Noora ranking
Here is the William ranking
Here is the Isak ranking
Here is the Even ranking
Here is the Sana ranking
1- Isa (skam nl)
I have a mixed feelings about her season but damn I LOVE HER SO MUCH. She's a real ray of sunshine! I loved witnessing her chaotic energy, how she was allowed to be weird and a real disaster while still being written as a human being with real flaws and serious issues (something that does not happen often with female characters). And like yeah, there are so many girls like that and we should see it more in media, not to mention it made her friendships with the girl squad more realistic because they were just having fun being weirdos together and that is friendship goal ^^ She's also probably the most relatable Eva of the remakes, which is one of this character's main purpose imo, without making her too much "hEy LoOK aT mE, i'M sO qUirKy aNd RelAtABle lOLiLoL". Her evolution was very well handled, although she really deserved to gave the Eva speech to Kes :( All in all, she's defintely the one I enjoyed the most following, she was just so endearing and fun!!
2- Megan (skam austin)
It's apparently a controversial opinion, but I REALLY like her. I could really relate to her feelings of being pressured by the school system, and how she wasn't really expressive because of her isolation (and probably depression). Like she wasn't over-the-top, she felt real. She could be so nice but also snarky when she needed to be, way more than Eva ever was, and I liked seeing that. Plus, I really appreciated how they actually talked about her issues regarding alcohol in season 2. It was nice they still continued to work with her character after her season, to still show her as this flawed human being who still had things to deal with and not just the main's BFF. I really loved her plot with Shay, I found it so different and interesting because the betrayal felt...So much worst. And then we could see the consequences of it in season 2 (also she totally should have end up with her like wtf is she doing with Marlon at the end of season 2 we needed a season 3 if only to fix this fuckery!!!). Also like...i'm weak for girls with colored hair dont judge me ^^
3- Emma (skam france)
I have to admit, she was kind of boring at times, and she could annoy me a lot too. But also she's so sweet and cute, and it's definitely the kind of girl that I met in real life. I love that they showed her being an amazing friend to Manon in season 3. And then...season 4 happened. And not only did she treat Alex like shit but she treated IMANE like shit, and that was....extremely hard to watch. At least Manon and Alexia had some semblance of a reason to be mad at Imane (even though it still doesn't excuse anything!!) but she didn't even have any, and when Imane tried to call out Ingrid for her racism, she made it all about her!!! But anyway season 5 kind of reconciled me with her, showing her once again as the girl who is a really lost in her life and doesn't really know what she wants (something really relatable, not everyone has their life figured out at that age, I should know lol), but still being there to listen to her friends and very emotionally intelligent (because grades don't define whether you're smart or stupid, and I'm glad they showed us that). Plus, the fact that she chose to remain single simply because she realized she actually liked it was a great thing to do with her character! But like why was she always shown being there to listen to her friends and noticing when they were feeling bad except with Imane??? (well we know why but still)
4- Eva (skam espana)
I have my issues with Skam espana, but I have to admit that their Eva season was probably the best one of the remakes. The way they handled her character was amazing! She was allowed to have flaws and fucks up numerous times even though we can still understand where she's coming from, and most importantly she actually owns up to it! Her transformation to being all alone and having low self-esteem to being this confident woman with great friends was SO great to see. But then, with the other seasons, she really annoyed me. I really appreciate that her relationship with Ingrid and Lucas were not forgotten, and, like with Emma, I like how her character showed that one can be happy and getting their life together without having to be in a romantic relationship. but other than that it felt like she was only there to say the woke things or be the quirky, super confident friend, and so she just ended up being a caricature of herself. That was a shame because her character defintely had potential...
5- Hanna (Druck)
I...honestly don't have much to say about her. I liked her season fine, and I really felt for her sometimes. But I honestly don't have any attachment to her. I don't really know why, she's just really "meh" for me. Maybe it's because I feel like her relationship with other characters were not given enough depth, altho I liked seeing her friendship with Matteo in season 3, but it's more for the idea of it than anything else. And I know it's not her fault, but the fact she was given a whole episode in season 4, taking it from Amira even though she already had her own season...It really made me resent her, ngl...But I honestly just don't care about her. Sorry.
6-Jana (WTFock)
I'm not gonna make friends with this one lmao, but I'm at a point where I just can't stand her. I really liked her season, her issues were portrayed in a very realistic and understanble way, and the scene where she breaks up with Jonas is my favorite Joneva break up scene of the skam remakes. But then, in season 2, she did the whole "I'm gonna flirt with Robbe and if he rejects me, his best friend's ex, that totally means he's gay !!!", which is so stupid and unapropriate (to put it mildly) in so many ways, but no she just found it so funny haha even after what she did made him very obvioulsy uncomfortable. I mean yes, if I remember well, Eva mentionned doing that to Isak, but she wasn't serious!! And she only ended flirting with him because she was miserable and completely drunk!!! At this point I already hated her, but, anyway, at least she appologized in season 3. Well, she didn't really seem to understand that it still would have been hella wrong to do that had Robbe been straight (lol), but still, she was at least aknwoledging that it was wrong and I was ready to forgive her. But then, she blindly believed Britt about Sander's mental illness, thought that because the girl had dated him for like 6 months that made her an expert, talked to Robbe about it as if she knew better than him without thinking twice about how SANDER might think or feel, and had this whole speech about how Britt is oh so strong to allow someone with a bipolar disorder to date her (like seriously fuck you), and when Sander went to the mental hospital she apparently spoke about it to everyone around her. And after that, she was still made out to be this great person and friend and it was so irritating!!! So yeah, not a fan. WTFock season 3 didn't spare many characters honestly lol. I have to say, thought, their season 4 made me appreciate her more (yeah it was that bad).
I really want to add that those are MY opinions, no one has to agree with me. My dislike for some characters are only directed to the characters, and definitely not for those who do like them.
Like I said, feel free to discuss in the comments ^^

ENGLISH TRANSLATION (Scott Rand)
LT1 Startalk Interview at the Bristol Hotel 25/01/20
with Petra Stumpf
https://www.lt1.at/sendungen/stars_society/ich-bin-ein-sehr-sexueller-mensch/
https://youtu.be/FAw2HtQQhx0
That was back then, Tom Neuwirth alias Conchita Wurst, a diva who won the Eurovision Song Contest for Austria in 2014.
And this is nowadays. Wurst, fetish look and electro pop. With his third album Tom has freed himself. We meet the Upper Austrian in his adoptive home Vienna at the hotel bar in the Bristol next to the Opera. What hasn't changed is that the star is punctual to the minute.
Petra Stumpf: Welcome to LT1 startalk, my guest today - how do I address you Conchita, Tom or Wurst, which do you prefer?
Tom: It's up to you, I use to say at the end of the day it's always Wurst (it's all the same to me). With a certain look I feel more like a woman, whatever that means and in certain looks I am more masculine, whatever that means and at the end of the day I don't care. One cannot generalise, of course for many people their identity is important and how they see themselves. I realize more and more that gender should be completely irrelevant in a society.
P: I was very curious in which look you would turn up today, blond, bald, long hair, short hair, at the moment everything is possible when it comes to you. Does it depend on your current mood or is it calculative if you turn up as a male or female?
T: There are concerts and events where I know I want to wear an evening gown and release my inner Mariah Carey, on other days I have no concept at all and put up what I fancy at the moment. Some things need a certain preparation, when I want to bleach my hair, I can't decide it on the spot and two hours later I'm blond and the story about the bald head was, that I wanted to express - I did't want to express anything with the bald head per se - but I had joined the Opera Ball to advertise the EU elections and when I shaved my head, I hadn't even known yet that I would go to the Opera Ball. In retrospect it had been destiny and was supposed to happen exactly like that and to answer the question, I seldom reflect, sometimes I fancy something but if something else comes up that is more in line, then I change my mind.
P: Your impact on me is that you feel very liberated since this transformation, is that true?
T: I started to reconsider rules I don't even know who made them and to discard them and find out what makes me happy instead of saying: I have to be the president's wife, that's what people expect and what sells, I'm also in the priviliged situation to say, I don't care, I do what I want and feel but during the process I develop and reconsider so many things and I don't know if everyone thinks it's funny, but I always say it's essential to learn how to read and write. It's important for communication, but how needs spelling?
P: Seriously?
T: If I understand what you want to tell me, for example if you write an essay in German full of blooming imagination and there are twists in the story and it's interesting to read, and then you have 5 spelling errors and fail to pass the exam.
P: I agree about that, but it repels me if someone writes to me on Whatsapp and there are 1000 spelling errors. That's awful.
T: It doesn't matter to me, as long as I understand what you mean.
P: Since you say it is Wurst to you, you recorded your new album as Wurst, finest electro pop, it is autobiographic and was a kind of therapy for you, is that true?
T: Yes, the lyrics and music were written by Eva Klampfer, Lylit, an Upper Austrian and it was produced by Albin Janoska, who is the electro guru in this country. In this triad we made this great album. Eva spent many hours with me and learned a lot about me and I often repeat it, I'm not sure if she wanted to know all of it. But when one doesn't write the lyrics oneself, one can only achieve an authentic piece of music when I'm candid and all of these titles are of course metaphors of all the things I experienced and I know what each song is about and considered if I should explain it or write it into the booklet but then I thought, it's nobody's business and I want to keep it to myself and don't want to impose to the audience what to interpret into those songs. I love to make music videos, I can't write songs, but I hear music and see pictures and I can convert that, that's my essential part and I love to do it but with it I already open a world that indicates a certain direction and emotions, but it's too much fun to miss out on it.
P: I have to show the booklet and for example this picture, videos and booklet are very revealing, very erotic with fetish outfits, did it take you a lot of effort, because your parents and your granny see it too.
T: I'm a very sensual person and I'm not shy with my family, they know me so well, they have known me when I still wet my pants. I don't have to pretend what I am and sometimes I think it will not be her favourite topic for my granny in her crochet round but I am what I am and that's the result of their upbringing. My parents have no reason for complaining about my liberalness or that I live my life in the public, I am the person I am because they raised me that way.
P: Did your parents teach you the facts of life or was it your grandmother, sometimes the grandparents do that.
T: Funny that you address this topic. No, it was my aunt, she's awesome and during Christmas one discusses everything. My aunt is responsible or was a good deal involved in my fashion aesthetics. Listen, my aunt took me to the first musical I have ever seen, Rocky Horror Picture Show, imagine I was about - when is one admitted into such a show, I think 12, and I remember my aunt asked me: "Do you know what a virgin is?" and I replied: "My Mum was born in August, so she's a Virgo." and then there was a talk with my mother if she was allowed to explain it to me and she did and then I came into this show as a 12 year old gay boy and was amazed. What, one can do this, this is allowed? And everyone thinks it's awesome, she revealed a whole new world to me and I still remember what she wore, a transparent Woolford body that only covered the breasts in the shape of a lava lamp and Yoko Ono flares with slits at the sides that where overlapping, so when she walked her bare legs were displayed. My aunt is a fashion icon and that's where my liberty comes from, I think nobody was surprised.
P: You don't often come to Upper Austria, where your family is, but on 12th March you will come to the Posthof in Linz because you are on tour with the new songs. This home game in Linz is something special for you?
T: I'm totally looking forward to it. Linz is always special for me. I have a tour, there will be some concerts in Germany, I'll be in Poland and will also be in Austria and Linz is magic, I can't describe it, it's also the audience that likes to experience music and there are people who are not my fans per se, but who are interested in new music. That's so cool, I'm not always that open-minded, I think rock is not my cup of tea, but okay I'm going to listen to it. People in Linz are totally relaxed and I'm looking forward. And it will be different with my live band and it will be awesome.
P: You are a fantastic live performer, I've often seen you and take my hat off to you. Back then in Linz, international fans had come completely dressed in Conchita outfit. How do they deal with the transformation, do they go along with it and come now with short hair?
T: It's exciting you mention this, I love my fans and they are crazy in an affectionate way and travel from everywhere around the world and then sit there and listen to this concert for the 14th time and are still enthusiastic and have fun to ponder, ah there he didn't know the lyrics, he has forgotten them again and that's so cool, because it's simply the truth. Without those fans who come regularly, I wouldn't exist and without them I wouldn't be able to shine in certain situations, because sometimes you come to an event and notice, ah maybe they don't find me that awesome but there are always people present I can rely on and who say I don't care what happens behind my back, I'm here because of you and I celebrate you so much and then it spreads. It's exciting how such a relationship we have after all develops, particularly because of the different look and music and there are many who sighingly say, I want to hear the ballads and I understand that, I also love the ballads, but there's a time for everything.
P:  Variety is that extra something.
T: Absolutely. It's a challenge for me and a whole different vocal field, suddenly it's about voice colours and textures and not how long can I scream this note, and I can hold it for a long time.
P: Will you play none of your ballads on this tour?
T: Not at the moment. I have the occasional concerts with an orchestra, the next ones will be in Sydney and I'm thrilled to go back to Australia after many years, the current situation there is everything else but delightful but I'm very content not to let this orchestra programme die either, because it's so much fun. Also From Vienna With Love I recorded with the symphonic orchestra is a gift for me and then retrieve it a year later and say: I still can do it! That's cool, you know.
P: We are in Vienna today and not in Upper Austria, as you hardly come to us anymore.
T: Don't emphasize it that much, it's like that at the moment, I will come back.
P: On 12th March at the latest he'll be there at the concert. But we are now at the hotel Bristol in Vienna and you also have a special connection to this place.
T: I have a deep attachment to this hotel, one of my all-time favourite photos was taken by Mrs Ziegelböck, who also comes from Upper Austria. There was a fashion photo shoot for Rondo and we are often here and everytime I give interviews we get support from the staff and they provide us with these awesome suites and catering and we are pleased to see each other, there's appreciation and it's such a traditional building, rich in history and I was allowed to work abroad, but when I come back home, I love Austria, I love Vienna so much, in my opinion it's the coolest city in the world.
P: It was ranked the most livably city too. And the most unfriendly one.
T: If you allow to be insulted, I'm above that.
P: I continue with the word rap.
Question: Do you prefer to be man or woman?
T: We already discussed, I don't care.
Question: I can imagine having children one day.
T: That's tough. I've considered how I would raise a child, what values I would convey and what it would mean. But I'm not ready to have children, because I'm so egocentric and have some interhuman deficits. You wanted a short reply. I have no idea.
Question: I like to sleep...
T: For a long period of time and you want something provocative. I sleep in the nude.
Question: What are you not able to do?
T: I'm bad at waiting and I sometimes get bitchy. My friends who work with me know me well enough to know that when I start giving curt replies.
Question: Your favourite place?
T: My apartment, my nest. After a period of travelling a lot, one's own bed is priceless.
Question: I learned most things from...
T: All people I meet. I recognise afterwards when one sits together during the holidays, I have it from you that I always run around half naked.
Question: The inscription on my tombstone should read.
T: I hope I won't have a tombstone. I'll be cremated.
P: But there has also to be a place for the urn. Maybe in someone's cupboard at home.
T: If I want to annoy them I'll write into my will: You have to place me beside your television. I want it to be stagy, get cremated and scatter the ash around.
P: Then one cannot visit you anymore.
T: You don't have to. That's overrated, everyone shall carry me inside their hearts.
P: No grave of honour in Vienna?
T: The dress from the Eurovision inside a showcase is sufficient.
P: Thank you, it was very funny.
T: What a great interview.

Hej, Idk if you're the right person to ask, but let's see ;)- I don't really get why it's basically canon (especially in fic etc.) that Isak is a Biology expert/nerd, and in general really good in school. I mean, yeah, we're seeing him studying Bio with Sana and saying 'sounds easy!'(/s? tbh, imo), but why is it that everyone assumes that he's a far above average student and that he will almost certainly study some Biosciency sh*t? Did I miss the point where this was introduced in (real) canon?
hiiii, it’s funny because you sent me this ask a while back while i was writing a hc in which i mentioned isak having good grades hehehe
so, why do i think he’s smart and gets good grades?
okay let me call this…..
WHY IS ISAK TOTALLY A SMART COOKIE: A MASTERPOST
it’s pretty obvious that isak cares about his grades. when he is first introduced in the first episode of season 1, we see him ask eva and jonas what grade they got on their essay, and he personally gets a 5 (the highest grade you could get being a 6, or 6+?). and i think isak is a bit more of a science guy (as we see later on in s3), so him getting a 5 here was good. and just, the way he asks his friends what grade they got, i personally think this is something people with good grades do, it’s something i’ve seen happen a lot throughout high school. and i think you need a certain level of confidence when it comes to the grades you get in general in order to do that. there’s a bit of competitiveness (that is not mean-spirited imo) in the way he acted, and once again i doubt that someone who doesn’t get good grades and/or doesn’t care about their grade would behave like this
in the second episode of s1, when they play trivial pursuit in the cabin, you can tell he seems to take the game seriously, in the way he asks questions, his tone when he does, as opposed to jonas who acts like his usual, chill self. you can sense the slight competitiveness once again
in the third episode of s1, when eva and jonas and isak are by the window in the staircase, and they’re discussing an assignment, isak makes a point of letting jonas know he’s right, he even shushes him at some point, and then he says “i should’ve gotten a 6 on this”. isak is unsure about a lot of things, but i think one thing he knows is that he’s a good student, he knows when his assignments are worthy of getting a good grade
i know that these scenes in eva’s season were meant to show us some of eva’s struggles, how she wasn’t doing too well at school, how she wasn’t necessarily book smart and how her friend and boyfriend sometimes teased her about it, and how it made her even more insecure, i know that was actually the main point since this was her season, but i still think it also let us know that isak was indeed a good student and a smart boy
fast forward to isak’s season
in the second episode, you see him arrive to class early. the room is empty except for another student, and that student is studying and i know in this scene we basically see isak stalking his new crush even bech næsheim, but i actually think that isak usually does this regularly, show up to class/school a little early to study and do assignments. i think it’s an environment in which he concentrates better, and i think this partly has to do with how, in comparison, his house wasn’t a good environment to concentrate and study because of everything that was going on with his parents
in the same episode, when he “argues” with the ignorant and islamophobic teacher who called sana’s hijab a niqab, i do think he was sort of trying to distract her from thinking of the weed sana had just hidden (which was also smart, quick thinking), but i do also think this was isak being faced with completely wrong information, a fact that he knows is 100% wrong. he knows what a niqab and a burka are and he knows what a hijab is and he knows that the teacher calling sana’s hijab a burka and then a niqab is completely wrong, and he speaks confidently when he corrects her, because he knows he is right about this
in-between ep 3 and ep 4, there’s a text conversation between him and sana in which he asks her for her physics notes, because he has a test two days later. i think he might’ve forgotten about the test because his mind was filled with even even even all weekend because of their almost-kiss last friday. but still!! doesn’t mean isak is not going to do well in that physics test, no way he’s going to let that happen. so he asks sana for her notes, because he trusts that they’re good, and he even asks her if she remembers the questions from the test since she took it the previous week. he doesn’t ask her for the answers, just the questions, because he knows he can answer those well by himself. and this conversation is just another proof that isak cares about getting good grades, and he doesn’t want to risk getting a bad one
in ep 4, the moment you mentioned hehe. you can tell from this scene that both isak and sana are good, studious kids, that’s just the vibe you get from the way they’re sitting with their textbooks opened, and i think that’s done on purpose. it’s still the beginning of their friendship, and they still have a lot to learn from each other, but i think we’re meant to see them as a good working team. they didn’t chose to be together in that class, but still, they work well, because they’re both such good students. and yes! the little “sounds easy!” that comes with a wink and a cheeky smile. once again, you see that confidence he has when it comes to schoolwork, like he knows. he understands the material well, he’s not intimidated by it at all
in ep 5, hjernen er alene, you can see how brilliant isak’s mind is. isak is not just book smart. isak lies in bed with the boy he likes on a saturday afternoon and he starts talking about parallel universes and the immensity of the universe and how small they are in comparison, and he just finds it so interesting, he says so, and there’s so much wonder in his voice, and you can tell it’s something he finds himself thinking about a lot, and he’s excited to share those thoughts with someone he likes. isak is the type of boy who will let his mind wander and think of the universe and all its components, and all the things he knows about it, the things he’s learned, and use that knowledge not just in an academic context, but also to cogitate, reflect. and this is something i think he does a lot more since he’s met even, because as he said in the last episode of the season, he was “fake” before, i don’t think he let himself be that boy who thinks of space and thinks of different theories as much as he does now, but now he’s learned to be himself more, to let himself think the way he wants to think. and even is just so interested in everything he has to say, and he listens so attentively, wants to hear about his thoughts, and remembers those thoughts
in the sixth episode. poor isak who’s just going through so much and who can’t sleep. and he goes to see the school “doctor” and he asks her if he could maybe be prescribed sleeping pills because he says the lack of sleep is starting to affect school. isak knows how he usually performs, he knows he can read his textbooks and listen in class and he knows how much he usually understand, but right now he’s just not sleeping, and there’s too much going on, and he notices how it’s starting to “affect school”, and he doesn’t like the idea that it does, and he doesn’t want to let that happen. it’s important for him to be able to do well
in episode 7, isak and sana are in class together, and they have that little debate about which answer is the right one. and he says “i read it last week”. which means that a) isak is a good student who does all his readings b) he remembers something he read the previous week, he remembers that he’s read it the previous week. and he tells sana “trust me, sana. i trust myself, and it’s a”. once agan, he’s confident that he has the right answer, he knows that he does. isak doesn’t doubt his ability to answer correctly. and he suggests that they google it, to put an end to the debate, and sana tells him he’s unsure, and he tells her that no, he isn’t unsure and he knows that he’s right (and he was right about this! we found out later on that his answer was the right one)
in episode 8, after spending the whole weekend with even, at last, isak didn’t do one of his assignment, so sana catches him doing it at the last minute in class, like literally at the last minute because the teacher asks them to hand it in at the beginning of the class. but isak still manages to write something really good, because we find out later on that he’s had 6s all semester in that class
later in that same episode, even wants to go over to isak’s place to Do Things, but isak needs to study for his physics test, and triiiiies to resist even and to tell him that he can’t be with him right now, he really really needs to study. but he fails, when even tells him “he’s going to go take a shower now”, but he tries! he does! because studying for the physics test is important. and the next day, the boys all want to go get pizza, but isak refuses to skip class to go with them. magnus asks him to just take someone else’s notes, that he can learn the material by himself, but nope, isak tells him he won’t skip class, because “research shows that you learn more by attending class”
in episode 9, isak is not doing so well after the hotel scene, thinks even never really loved him. he skips school because he simply can’t go right now, but he still texts sana and asks her if she can hand in his assignment for him. he’s really not feeling well, but he still takes time to do school work and makes sure he hands it on time, because once again this matters to him
in the last episode of the season, in minutt for minutt, i think we once again get to see how isak is not only book smart, and how he also possesses emotional intelligence, in the way he speaks to even, in the way he handles the situation. actually, we also see this in o helga natt, when isak chooses the words he tells even so well, when he chooses the perfect words to tell him right then in that moment. du er ikke alene. and in minutt for minutt, he also choses the right words. he listened to sonja’s advice. he not only listened, he understood. and when even tells him he’s going to end up hurting isak, isak tells him that an atomic bomb could be dropped on them the next day, and that worrying about the future is not what they should do right now. and that they are going to play a game, “isak and even: minute by minute”. he listened to sonja’s advice and applied it but at the same time he gave it his own touch, because once again he understood, and he knew what the right words to say were, he felt it in his heart. and just, throughout that whole week, when even is not doing well, isak is just very caring and understanding, and he wants to learn, and make sure he is there for even the way he should be, the way even needs him to (just the right amount, and the right way)
finally, last clip of the season, in isak’s kitchen when sana comes and joins them, and even asks sana how isak is doing in biology, and she jokes that “he’s useful”, and you can tell that what she actually means is that isak is really good, a really good classmate (and friend!) to have. and isak gets all offended, like he does so often, and makes sure to remind them that he’s had 6s all year in biology (we get it, isak, you’re the master of biology)
so YES, i think there were multiple little moments letting us know that isak is smart, both at school and outside of it :) i think this boy has such a brilliant and fascinating mind, and an amazing and big heart and i’m sure he has a very very bright future ahead of him 💝

Your whole post on C/E was so perfect; I could cry. I truly don't understand why JA changed things at the last minute, other than fan service? Did she think people preferred J/E? I felt like it hurt what she was trying to show in season 1. Sometimes people can be good individually, but bad as a pair. I loved both characters, but they didn't work. That scene negated any purpose of P.Chris having a POV clip. If this is what was planned, it would've been nicer to see a Magnus or Elias clip instead.
Also, can we discuss how saddened I am after Julie released the 9 original characters and that they all were meant to have seasons. An Even season was so necessary. Not because of Evak, but to explore his mental illness and how it effects him daily. It's a subject not really explored and it should be. Not to mention VILDE and CHRIS BERG! Both those girls had so much potential for real stories. I'm sorry for blowing up your page. I'm clearly having a lot of feels. Lol!
Don’t be sorry about coming over and talking to me about Skam; it was one of my favorite shows and I’m still pretty bumped that it’s over. I’m always up for talking about it, dear!!
First of all, Chris and Eva. What was this sorcery? Julie literally gave us the ultimate gift and then she just ripped the ground off our feet. I mean I would be perfectly okay if they didn’t choose to adress their relationship, if they stayed casual friends with benefits as they were. I don’t see the point of showing us a clip of Chris wanting them to be exclusive only to have him making out with EMMA of all people! I didn’t have any problem with Penetrator Chris; I freaking loved Penetrator Chris. But I also instantly fell in love with that Chris that lie awake tracing Eva’s face in affection. With what they did with Emma any version of Chris was ruined for me and that’s a shame.
Jonas and Eva. Jonas is an incredible character. He has good heart, he is loyal to his friends, he is there for his friends, he hates homophodia/racism and dishes whoever indulges in such comments even if that someone is one of his closest friends. He was so simply understanding and gracious when Isak came out to him. I remember when I saw that scene (the simplicity of it all with just two friends eating in the park and accepting the new change in reality and then casually going on with their lunch) Jonas instantly melted my heart. Eva is also an amazing character. Again a great friend, cheerful, funny, outgoing, full of life. But that’s the point. When Eva was with Jonas she was lacking life. And even though they were good friends and they cared about each other and loved each other and wanted to be with each other neither of them was happy in that relationship. Eva didn’t have an identity, Jonas didn’t quite know himself and the only thing they always did was bring each other down. I also don’t see the point of them being endgame material.
Yes, I’m so sad about the 9 seasons plan too! I so agree with you, an Even season was essential. For me, season 3 was the best, not only because of Evan but because it was so challenging and interesting to watch. It would be so nice to have another season with Even on the spotlight this time and learn more about a condition that hardly ever gets explored in TV-shows and especially regarding a teenage boy. I would like to see his struggles, his everyday life and how his mental illness alters it, his triggers, his methods of coping after an episode, his insecurities, his fears, his life with Isak and how Even’s mental health affects him as a partner. Even’s story had so much more to give and in a show like Skam that such narrative would be done beautifully and with the amount of respect such issues deserve, it really saddens me that we didn’t get the chance to watch and learn something about people with the same condition as Even.
And yes, Vilde and Chris centered seasons would be a delight too. Especially after we learned about Vilde’s mom and her depression and how strong and supportive she is of her, after that scene with Magnus that they look at each other from across the room and her voice breaks when she says that yes, she has somebody that listens to her and helps her ease that burden off her shoulders. And of course after Chris saying that she wants to be a better friend, even though she is the bestest and the strongest, and tearing up when apologizing to Vilde for not noticing sooner, for not being there for her sooner. I’d watch the hell out of those two seasons because those scenes just gave us perspective, you know, that human beings are dimensional and have a whole kaleidoscope of emotions and personality trades that make them unique and wonderful each in their own way.
Also, in my opinion, I would like a tad better season for Sana too. I mean it was still beautiful and her relationship with Yousef was so pure and precious and challenging and made them both grow as people but I felt like the whole thing was kinda rushed because that was suddenly the last season and there had to be time for all the storylines to get wrapped up. It still had the food for thought one-liners and it still showed that even though people have their lowest points they always rise above but I don’t know something was missing for me.
That being said, Skam is definately the most interesting and realistic TV-show regarding our modern world I’ve ever watched and it will always have a special place in my heart.
