Actually Dragons being too powerful to be slaves is kept consistent in Tellius where the only Dragon Laguz that were enslaved were feral ones. Even then it was ONLY the Red Dragons and ONLY the ones that came to retrieve Alhmeda. Manaketes in particular are either too weak(as dragonstone deprived manaketes) or too powerful. People can tame a tiger in FE(remember Largo) & real life, but try controlling a giant & smart creature that can atomize you with its mere breath.
Funnily enough PoR reveals even the Laguz slavers view the Serenes massacre as an atrocity, albeit mostly in a "you fools just killed the goose that laid golden eggs." This is one of several chapters that say Heron Laguz are particularly desirable as slaves for their beauty and docile temperament.
Another thing to consider is the people buying Laguz slaves were all rich people with mansion, servants & guards. For Laguz like Muarim born in captivity, even if they escape, there aren't alot of places to go. Its mentioned the safest & nearest place for them to run is the Daein mountains, where they'll have to learn survival skills & avoid being killed by Beorc or wildlife, with most of the survivors becoming crazed bandits.
I don’t remember the Largo incident? IIRC in his support chain with Muarim, they were making a contest about who can carry the most cured hams on their backs, and Muarim won because he carried Mist or something
About the dragons, feral or not they were enslaved so yes, humans can enslave dragons, they need drugs to do so but it can happen.
I’m doubtful about the size and power of dragon laguz in the Tellius saga, we see cutscene Kurthnaga blasting a castle, but model wise he is tiny. When Ena transforms in a pink dragon in FE9 and she fights against us, unless Edward Zihark tanked everything with his face Daien’s castle must have been turned in a ruin after the fight, but it didn’t (then it may be something about gameplay and story integration)
Randoms are afraid of tigers who can rip their heads to shreds, but even cats give them the same fear so... Laguz being children of strength (bar herons of course) opposed to Beorcs being children of wisdom, the only way humans can overpower/control Laguz is to use special weapons, magic or drugs. But 1VS1 counting only on brute force, and not making unbalanced matchups like random cat vs RD!Ike?
Herons are another category on their own, they’re kept as trophies or worse if you want to read subtext in Lekain’s battle quote against Leanne.
I’m not trying to say being stronger the Laguz should have escaped instead of being kept in slavery, there are many factors to take into account, like Laguz born in captivity, some caught when they were very young and conditionned to listen to their masters, etc etc.
Tormod frees Laguz slaves around the continent iirc?
Maybe Valtome wanted to make a non-tamed subhuman lick his boots, and the subhuman bit his foot, of course the laguz’d be executed asap.
Thing is, Laguz are inherently stronger than humans, “physical strength” wise. But they can be enslaved when humans decide to be crafty, let it be by the use of drugs, capturing children or using some born in captivity like muarim who never knew anything ese.
#anon#replies#FE Tellius#slavery in FE#a big topic#even if magical creatures are stronger humans can find a way to battle them#let it be because they decided to forge OP weapons out from nowehere#like the Elibe saga#or they received help from mole-people#or they use drugs and/or prey on the weaker ones#iirc in FE5 bby Mareeta was caught by slave traders when Galzus wasn't looking#not saying Galzus isn't human#but if a random tried to kill him to capture his daughter like 1VS1?#the random would have died it's not even a question#Anonymous
