happy wincest wednesday!! what's a wincest heavy episode you think is underrated in wincest fandom?
Hii thanks for the question! <3<3
Idk how underrated it is, but i'm gonna go with fallen idols!
They've just started working together again, and their relationship is at a VERY rough point, with dean still not trusting sam at all. This whole conversation in the middle of the episode is fundamental: sam telling dean that the real reason he started drinking demon blood was because their relationship was unbalanced and he needed to feel in control (and it's SO important for their relationship that sam got to say that!!), and rightfully confronting dean about the way he treats him, and dean starting to yield:
And the episode ends wonderfully, with dean showing that he actually listened to what sam told him! He finally acknowledges that he also had a part in starting the apocalypse, that sam couldn't have known that killing lilith was a bad thing, and that he should trust sam more, which are all things sam desperately needed dean to tell him.
Their relationship is still far from perfect after this, but it's a big turning point imo. Also they had a lot of cute interactions in general:
My only objection to this episode was that we didn't see paris hilton turn into john and try eating dean </3

Heads up...
Okay, so obviously I favor Sastiel (see icon and the header on the mobile app) and I still love them. Castiel is one of my favorite characters... his introduction in the Season 4 premiere (I watched it when that ep aired back in 2008) renewed my interest for the show. Season 3 of Supernatural was kind of heavy for me... just the whole desperation to stop Dean from going to Hell got me down.
In retrospect, the writer’s strike at that time worked out for the best. It was a good thing that Season 3 had fewer episodes -- got them to tighten up the storylines. It was a relief when the show was renewed because omg, what a depressing way to end the show with Dean being dragged off to Hell with Sam sobbing in his wake. Thank goodness there was a Season 4, let me say.
I felt that Castiel’s entrance on the show breathed new life into the series. I loved the whole angel thing. I admit, as some of you know, I liked Destiel/DeanCas... whichever you want to call it during those early seasons -- Seasons 4 and 5 (2008 to 2010). I enjoyed their interactions. Really back then, it was either DeanCas or Wincest... and I wasn’t big on the Wincest, though admittedly I may have read a Wincest fic or two... before Season 4, options were limited and I was curious.
Some great fic writers back then, and now too of course. I favored Sam and Dean just caring about one another and taking care of each other, but hey, if the Wincest was well-written, why not...
Again, sorry for those who already know this, but I stopped watching the show regularly during early Season 6. Part of it was I got tired of only seeing Cas in a scene or two-- with him being a big reason why I watched, my patience wore thin about the lack of Cas so I moved on to other shows.
I finally returned to regularly watching the show (during my years away I was sure by the time I came back, SPN would be done, but nope) during the airing of Season 13. I was interested in Jack and found him to be a compelling character. I loved the bond Sam and Jack had with one another. So that’s why I love Jack too since his character got me to return to the show.
I caught up with the show during the summer following Season 13 (rest of Season 6 on through 13). I still have some episodes to watch (some S7, S8 and S12 episodes -- my initial run through of Seasons 7 and 8 were just the Cas episodes for the most part, now I’m working on watching the ones I missed)
Okay, getting away from the main purpose of this post.
*** In light of spn 15x18 “Despair”, I will be reblogging things from Castiel’s final scene and/or other scenes where he’s with Dean. As mentioned I’m not currently into DeanCas -- that was more in my “past life” back during Seasons 4 and 5. Still, Cas is a favorite character of mine, and I love some of the gifsets coming out of his final scene. I don’t feel like simply “liking” them is enough.
I have reblogged some posts critical of that goodbye scene, and probably will continue to do so... because no, I’m not really satisfied with Castiel’s end scene and I will admit to that. I’m sorry.
But some gifsets/posts I found are really well put-together and I just have to reblog and share... kind of a way to cope with Cas being gone on the show, I guess. Unavoidable that some of those end scene sets are shippy, but I’m picky about the ones I want to reblog.
I’m sorry if that all seems confusing... being critical one moment and reblogging a shippy gifset from the same ship I’m critical of. Just wanted to give a heads up that these gifsets are coming (not a bombardment of them -- will still concentrate on reblogging Sastiel), but they will be reblogged.
I don’t know... maybe past!me that enjoyed 2008-2010!DeanCas is rearing its head. Can’t help but be a little nostalgic for the long gone days (yeah, three years of liking DeanCas isn’t very long I know... but still).
Thank you. I’m sorry this came out to be so long. Just had to get this out...
