#not realizing that all this time Homra was so important to Yata bc it made him strong enough to protect Saruhiko

I've sent before an ask about how Yata would feel realizing why Fushimi left Homra but I wanna know the opposite: how would Fushimi feel understanding that one of the reasons why Yata liked Homra was because the clan saved them before especially Fushimi who Yata was worried about in that event.
In particular I think it would be interesting for Fushimi to learn how much of Yata’s hero worship of Mikoto started specifically because Mikoto was the one who saved Saruhiko and this was the most important thing in the world to him, especially since Fushimi himself I think takes it as a sign of failure that he even needed to be saved at all and that basically because he failed and had to be saved Yata became more interested in someone else. Like imagine post-series and they’re hashing out the whole betrayal issue, and Fushimi is probably getting all bitter and talking about things that he thinks happened while Yata’s so confused and lost because none of this is how he saw things. Like Fushimi talks about how Yata had a new hero and didn’t ‘need’ him anymore and Yata’s just like is that really what you thought.
Fushimi’s like isn’t that what happened though and Yata calls him an idiot, like why did you think Mikoto was my hero. Fushimi snorts that it’s because Yata’s drawn to that kind of person and anyway Mikoto didn’t even need to try to surpass Fushimi, just by being a King he succeeded where Fushimi was useless. Yata shakes his head and is like he was my hero because he saved your life you dumbass. Yata says that at the time he thought Fushimi really was going to die and he was despairing, upset that he couldn’t do anything and couldn’t save his most precious person…and then Mikoto appeared, and did what Yata couldn’t. Yes Yata thought Mikoto was cool and strong and someone Yata wanted to become like, but that was because Mikoto saved the thing that was most important to Yata, the thing he was too weak to save by himself. The reason Mikoto became the person who ‘saved’ Yata is precisely because he saved Fushimi first, because if Fushimi had died that day Yata says he wouldn’t have ever been able to recover from that loss.
I also like the idea that in this discussion Yata also brings up the Homra mark and that ‘this mark is our pride’ comment, Fushimi thinking Yata hates seeing the burn mark because it mocks his precious Homra. And then Yata’s like see there you go again assuming stuff, yeah this mark was given to me by Mikoto-san and I’m proud of it but that’s not the only thing that made me proud. Yata tells Fushimi that when they were together in Homra sometimes he felt like he could feel Fushimi’s heart beating alongside his, like they were connected through this mark. To Yata the mark is important because it was given to him by Mikoto but also because it was in the same place as Fushimi’s mark — Kusanagi said that never happened before and it made Yata feel like this mark was special, like it was their bond as partners in a physical form. Fushimi finds himself reaching up to scratch and Yata grabs his arm as he says that even now the mark is still his pride, because it’s something that connects the two of them and even if it’s painful Yata’s glad he finally got to say it out loud to Fushimi in a way that even an idiot can understand.
