when spencer was young, he was considered to be his father’s mini-me. one was hardly ever seen without the other, and a the young porter boy learned a lot of lessons from the older man - including a heavy amount of toxic masculinity in the process. his father viewed the world in a very specific way - one that, unfortunately, as spencer started to become more aware of who he was (specifically, his attraction to the other boys at school) - didn’t quite sync up as it once had. uncoincidentally they began to grow apart when he came out at the age of twelve, as his father felt like he could no longer relate to the child he’d once been inseparable from.

though he no longer has the bond he once did with his dad, old habits die hard, and there are times where his dad’s voice definitely comes through him - not in the best ways. he can be stubborn and abrasive at times, covering up the sensitive and loving parts deep down, pieces of him that were all but destroyed in the rejection from a man he’d once respected so greatly. he’s open about who he is, but there’s still a part of him that hasn’t fully accepted it all, and fears that he’ll be seen as less of a man because of his attraction, something that often results in picking on those who are brave enough to be a just a little more free with their own feelings and interests.

because of his need to prove himself, you can often find spencer in the gym or out on the field after the rest of the team has gone, putting in extra work to make sure he can not only keep up with the other men, but be better than them, desperate to not ever slip up and be caught in a singular moment of weakness, so determined to fight against the allegations of being like “all the other gays” to stop and actually question whether or not that’d be such a bad thing.

in my desk chair, making fun of dorks on the internet after football practice? …yeah, pretty much. grand-scheme, though? i don’t know, i guess i’d hoped to get a football scholarship to a better school, but… i had to take what i could get. people have come from worse, and still “made it”, so… i’ve got hope. i’m young, i’m hot, and i’ve still got time to go pro. i’m not too worried.

personally? sitting back and watching these idiots make fools out of themselves is like, at least 49% of why i joined this stupid club. it’s better than any reality tv show. sometimes, if you say just the right thing to get under their skin, you can see their heads internally explode, and it just about makes my whole week. i truly could not give less of a shit about these other teams’ opinions of us. my only question is - who is naming all these teams, and why are so many of them like, blatantly sexual? it was a total buzzkill when i found out what nude erections actually was, ngl. that’s the queerbaiting the media should be focusing on, imo.

(XIV||20) 25. Wish.

Anne-Sophie and Oberic stood on the shores of the lake that had buried a city; his city, Voeburt, gone from bustling metropolis to moss-covered sunken ruins while he spent a hundred years spelled into stone on its outskirts. 

The midlander spoke after a long moment of silence. “When I read about this place, the wings on the castle were sketched differently. Smaller; still growing. The Hingan mystic who penned the tome that ultimately led me here, led us to be having this conversation; he swore that one could climb the castle, make a wish on those wings, and it would come true. If that is a sound theory—which I have some doubts about—would you do it, Oberic? And, if so, what would you wish for?”

Oberic chewed at his lip in thought. He followed her gaze, though he frowned as an errant bout of fog rolled in. His eyes instead turned to the water that had drowned the village beneath the castle. “There’re so many things I could ask for in that situation.” he said openly and quite honestly. His arms folded across his chest as he thought. “…to go somewhere that I’m needed. A new home that has need of an old Knight.”

The knight-scholar watched the gleaming wings as they were subsumed by fog. “You wouldn’t ask for all of it to be undone, then? All to be returned as you remembered it?”

Oberic hesitated at the question, furrowing his brow before responding. “Voeburt had fallen before the Flood. That was simply the knife that cut her throat.” He ran his left hand over his hair to smooth it down. “And if I were to undo all of that, where would that leave you, after all? If I were not encased in stone? Would you go looking for another Knight? Would there even BE another?”

Anne-Sophie turned a curious little grin to him. “The nature of wishes is truly one of the last great mysteries, I should think. There are no magickal disciplines that deal with such capricious fates; no way of knowing if your wish upon those wings would simply restore your lost kingdom while leaving everything else intact.” She paused a moment, running the possibilities through the sieve of her mind, arriving at a few possible conclusions dense enough to withstand its scrutiny. “Theorem the first! You do not climb the castle. Nothing changes. Theorem the second; you climb it, and everything changes. I am awoken back in Ishgard; or, more likely, reduced to a dream in this world, much like…hmm. That is…never mind. Theorem the third; we consider this a thought exercise, and you do not actually wish to climb the castle.”

The knight of the ruined kingdom listened as she spoke, rolling his neck. As she finished the end of her haphazard presentation, he raised an eyebrow. “And if that were the case. The wish was true, and I chose to climb the castle, would you want me to?” He closed some of the distance between them as he spoke.  “…would you want to climb the castle yourself? Presuming the same rules would apply? What would you wish for?” he asked before looking over his shoulder to the Shelves. “And what if the wish granter was a malicious entity? Would it be worth the risk? There are stories where such things exist, you know.”

Anne-Sophie tilted her head, then began restlessly pacing while postulating, as was her wont; he’d gotten her started. “Even with my aetherically-augmented strength, I doubt I would be able to reach some of the finials, nor could I guarantee my step would be sound on the corbels. Even assuming that I reached those wings—which are quite material, as you can see by their shadows moving across the lake—I am uncertain if I would have the wherewithal to make my wish upon setting a hand upon them. What is their nature? Am I aetherically shocked by them, tossed like a ragdoll into the lake below, landing at terminal velocity? Do I enter the castle’s confines by interacting with a very visible form of its magicks, wherein I encounter this hypothetical malicious entity? One merely cannot say, Oberic.” She finally paused to breathe, fussing with her embroidered sleeve cuffs. “Though…truth be told, I have spent much of my life forming a wish, if one could call it that, though it was actually a ritual of exacting specifications, and if it failed, I would have…well. My ‘wish’, if we are reducing it to that? Was to come here. And you said earlier, that I was perhaps not meant to find you…but I am telling you, I saw other worlds, and none of them had you, or any facsimile thereof.” Turning her eyes to his, she jabbed at his chest with her index finger for emphasis. “My. Wish. Came. True.  I came to this beautiful, sleeping, dreaming kingdom, and I awoke a dreamer within it. Thus, it is no longer a wish, but a rite manifested.“ 

Her scholar’s fury left her all at once, her fingertip still resting on his exposed chest, and she faltered, drawing her hand back as if she’d touched live coals. “Ah—that is—that is to say. I am glad I met you. And…no, I would not wish to go back, nor to change anything along the way.” The pair of them watched the fog melt from the beauty of Il Mheg, revealing the castle, the mountains, the rivers in all their splendor.  “I should think that is clear by now,” she murmured; she was here as long as she was welcome to be.

4. how did you choose the name of your story?

I quite honestly suck at naming things.. so it became what it is.. A story about a Reaper and a dragon, and their family :) The other story was a spin on Stranger things tbh since it came to be when I wanted to play Strangerville XD

A little over a year now.. it started as a BC, and then just came to life on its own.

9. what about your story are you looking to improve on?

Writing can always get better, it's a challenge on its own to write in another language after all. And I can also get better with screenshots for the story. It is probably by far my weakest point still.

10. is your story fully planned or are you still working things out? is there a definitive end?

It's a work in progress. It is not planned out and atm, there is no planned end. Ideas get written down, changed, altered, taken out, and so on. All with the help of @mahvaladara who has become a co-writer and idea maker at this point, and I am super thankful for all the time they put into this story as well. This story would not be remotely the same without them.

11. Why have you decided to tell this story? are there any messages or meanings within it?

In the beginning, it wasn't. It was as mentioned before never meant to be a story, it just became one. But as it has moved on, I guess my message is, that even if you have "everything" you might not be happy, your not perfect even as the son of a god, and life will still throw challenges in your face.

12. do you actually play the game or do you just use it as a storytelling medium?

Mostly its become just a storyteller's medium. Gameplay in sims is generally dull, but there has been occasions where I do gameplay, like the start of The Stranger trio, where I played the Strangerville story and the times they have been in the jungle. Other than that, I use it purely as a story medium by now.

13. from basic planning to a finished post, how long does that take you?

My workflow is a bit different than what is said here. Depending on the story. For Derek and Toshi's stuff I write a chapter, then take pictures to said chapter, and then I queue up said chapter,

For the wards, it's rp'd out with @mahvaladara, then I take that and use it for writing a chapter, and then take pictures of said chapter, then it gets queued when it's all done and ready.

15. What have been the highlights of creating your story?

Seeing how it evolved, and what happened after I reached out to someone for them to make a certain young dragon as a best friend for Hayden. And knowing at least one or two people get angry with my choices sometimes!

The planning, the rping, the idea bouncing and writing it all down.

I admit, the posing of sims, searching hours on end for the right pose, realizing there is no such thing, and then having to use more hours with tool mod and manipulating different poses together to somewhat work.

Not directly, but they all have tiny pieces of me in them. For instance, Hayden has an illness that is incurable like mine (I made him worse though, the poor thing). But none of them directly remind me of me.

25. What inspirations have you drawn on for your story?

Just about any supernatural movie, tv series, and game you can imagine. Also, we have the inspiration from other simblrs, and of course @mahvaladara most excellent dragon lore! I keep learning from them, and I am so grateful!

27. What genres would you describe your story as?

Fantasy, love story, drama. If you add Stranger things, a little bit of "Horror."

28. if you could reproduce your story in another medium (movie, novel, comic, etc.) what would you choose and why?

It would be pretty awesome to see it as a tv-series.. but also a comic. A tv series, because it could really add all the fancy effects and dragons and so on, travel between universes and all those things. Of course, a comic could do the same.

I guess M (Mature) I am honestly not the best with knowing ratings, to old to think much about it

30. if you were leaving simblr and had to choose another creator to continue the story for you, who would you ask?

@mahvaladara they know my my/our story as well as I do so it is the logical choice. Also @dandylion240 be an option for the love of the characters I know they have.

I have plans for different occults to enter the story, so it will expand on dragons and reapers. Dragon wings and horn are annoying things, they clash with so much other cc you would not believe it!

It’s a part of the quote said by Captain Hook in the 2003 Peter Pan movie! “Didst thou ever want to be a pirate, my heartie?”. I’ve loved this film for years, I’ve always enjoyed pirate movies and voila :)

What “Matching Effort; Not Length” Means in Collaborative Writing [to me]

Hey yall, its 7 30 in the morning and I can’t sleep even though I work tonight so Imma ramble for like half an hour to see if that makes me tired sfkjsdfhdj

I’ve been doing this for a long time. Like-- half my life, 13 years [I’m 26], ‘long’ and over the years I’ve gotten relatively comfortable figuring out what things go into a thread being successful [i/e fun and easy to keep going] and not fun. This is all obviously my opinion as both a solo story writer, avid reader [i have more favourite books than I do friend irl] and rp’er. And though this obviously isn’t some snooty checklist or anything, I’ve found that people who use some or one or even all of these things in their replies are the rp partners I still adore making stories with years down the road

Replying with the world and not just the character

This can be done pretty easily in ‘script’ replies as well as ‘lit’/wordy replies, but I never approach a reply like what my character is saying or doing is happening in a vacuum, because that’s not organically how life works. 

Are the characters in a busy café? Is there a long line? Is some asshole trying to cut which makes my character have to ask them to stop pushing around? 

How about walking down the street? It the traffic horrible that day, making them have to speak louder/move closer to your muse? Did they almost fall into a puddle or run into somebody? 

Oooor what about a night club? Is the music loud? Is the music shitty? Is it a little too crowded now even though it wasn’t like ten minutes ago, meaning our muses may want to move elsewhere

All this to say; think about your muses and people interacting in a space, not just two people talking/walking in a void.

Be comfortable with NPCs

There are a lot of humans on the planet! Like... a whole lot! Use them to buff up the story world you’re creating to make it more fun! This is also how I sometimes end up making a few of my favourite characters; they start out as NPCs to make my world more robust, and eventually I think up whole back stories for them [A good Example is Lux!]

Is that cafe owner making eyes at the other muse? Does that make your muse huffy and jealous? Or maybe that one dude who is still trying to cut in line gets a little too pushy and them and your muse have a little scuffle?

Is that a cute cat/dog? Sorry, gotta stop this very tense/flirty talk with your muse cus i have to pet this dog/cat.

Not only can these just be fun to picture, but a lotttt of character development can come from aspects of a world that aren’tt just because of muse A and muse b talking/thinking about each other, and can really buff up the foundation of whatever relationship muse and and muse b are developing whether its plotted or unplotted.

Be careful not to godmod- This isn’t nearly as much of an issue in this decade of rping as it was when I first started [it was bad lol] But just make sure these characters are feasible within a world. Don’t go and have muse a get randomly stabbed just because replies are hard to come by and you want to make muse b suddenly have to care about muse a. plot this shit out with your rp partner if you have even the smallest idea that some npc/event you have in mind might take away control/their right to control an event.

Reply to build off each other’s replies/characters; Not just to Reply. Give your partner’s character something to reply about.

I think , above most else, this can be the best or most frustrating part of an rp, and where I find I can lose interest in a thread or interaction. This is the most important thing I try to do, regardless of reply length or plot. This is what matched effort and not length means to me.

The most interesting aspect about rping to beings is being able to interact with them in real time, seeing this that its ever changing, real-time, and dynamic. If my character is stuttering a reply, eyes glancing every which way, sweating, but says everything is fine, getting a reply that doesn’t address any or the subtext or look to either amplify or fix a situation can be incredibly tiring.

Read a characters background/look for details in writing- Has ther other writer mentioned ther character has an interesting eye colour? Did the characters eye colour just change? Treat every reply as a chance to really build on something.

Did the character just say or do something that would logically result in some kind of shock/anger/attraction? Its okay to have your character shocked about things. Let them being an organic character/being.

Put equal effort in having interesting dialogue.-I can’t count the number of times on other blogs long ago [and long since dead] where I would give a few things in a script rp tp be interesting or cool to think on and reply about, things that were indicative to my character, only for literally all of it to be ignored in the next reply.

There aren’t many places for a story to go when two characters are just talking and walking together and nothing happens. 

Stagnation is the antithesis of progress, very literally.

And if you see or  a thread starting to become harder and harder to reply to, don’t be afraid to read through the thread and see if you notice a ‘drop’ or a place where you, your character, the world can add something which would be fun to reply to/react to/ imagine. 

And for god’s sake, read a characters about/have some information about your character at hand.

I am.....long winded [shocker, I know] and I know words can be hard. But at my core, I want to rp with you [yes you] because I like how you words and I like how you write characters. It is incredibly hard for me to know if a story would be fun or interesting if there is nothing about a character other than their fc.

Have crucial information in about sections, make sure you know about the other characters crucial information, this can be some of the things that help a thread start off a lot easier. These can be bullet points! Cool hair colour? Eye colour? Long fangs when angy? long fangs and red eyes when BigAngy?? Ears? Tails???? Anything thatt a character would notice upin first glance needs to be made clear to your rp partner so they and their character can operate more naturally in whatever world you’re creating together.

If you don’t have official abouts, that is fine, just make sure you have any information about the character ready for sharing! I use the sticky notes desktop app for characters I haven’t officially added yet and its a super helpful, low maintenance way to keep details about a possible/selective character on hand.

Talk shit out. Embrace a shifting story, figure out plot points that would be cool to see and write about. Have fun. Create worlds, universes, new characters! As long as both/all parties are on the same page, there is literally no end to what you can create together.

All of this applies to lit/novella/and script rps! I’ve had some very, very cool, in depth script rps in my time/on discord/aim so length is not a factor to fun, deep rps, its all in the mutual effort placed in the characters and their world.

Seeking a partner for a long term sci-fi rp that involves aliens for discord,kik or hangouts

Hello everybody! It’s me Lotoliderden and I’m just your average twenty year old aussie who loves to rp. Recently I’ve been having a few cravings for an rp where the use of the awesome genre of sci-fi with the guarantee of extraterrestrial life forms exists. I’ve got a few ideas that I’ve decided I’ll put down below. Please remember that these are just ideas and we do not have to do them, they’re simply just examples and I’m always open to brainstorming an rp idea with anyone interested. Rp idea one: alien space academy Aliens. Aliens are creatures who come in all different types, shapes and sizes. Some are big, some are small. some are scary while others are just that little bit extraordinary. Aliens didn’t always get along with each other, there were many fights and wars before the leaders of each alien race came together to negotiate a peace treaty. Thanks to the treaty aliens could live amongst one another without fear of a war happening. Not everyone accepted the peace treaty however, there were still some aliens who were more than happy to encourage a fuss. This was one of the struggles of academy life, what you were could determine whether or not you were accepted by everyone else. Rp idea two: royals and forbidden love Y/C is the prince/princess of an alien kingdom and the future ruler. M/C is leader of the royal guard/servant/ or a commoner. Y/C dreams for a life outside the walls of their palace and sneaks off one night for just a little taste of the non royal life. Y/C encounters trouble in the streets and M/C rescues them not knowing who they are. Seeing this as a way of escaping the life Y/C is sick of they start to leave the palace more often in the hopes that M/C will come across them again. What starts as an unexpected friendship between two aliens turns into something more. Rp idea three: I hate you, I love you, I hate that I love you M/C and Y/C had always been rivals. Everyone who’d ever known them knew that. Something had just never clicked between the two of them that allowed M/C and Y/C to even tolerate each other’s presence. When Y/C is the captain of a battleship and M/C is just a regularly crew member working onboard the same ship M/C is furious and does everything they can to disobey orders without putting anyone at risk. When the ship is attacked and Y/C and M/C are the only survivors they realise that in order to survive what’s been thrown at them they need to work together. An uneasy truce is formed which takes an unexpected turn as to grow closer than they ever thought they would. Again, please remember that these are just examples and that we do not have to do them or do them in the exact way they’ve been written. Now before anyone messages me saying their interested I’ve got a few requirements you need to fulfill in order to rp with me. They’re in a list down below. 1: you must be literate, write in the third person, have decent spelling and grammar and give me 5-6 lines per response. No asterisks, one liners, one worders or poorly fleshed out sentences please. 2: no godmodding, Mary Sues, Gary Stu’s,op characters,self inserts, rping as yourself, being overly submissive, being overly dominant, pretending that you know everything about my characters or their species, making carbon copies of my character or one from a fandom, having a character that’s made only of flaws. 3: while I would prefer my partner to be an alien I don’t care if you rp as a human/furry/anthro/alien/ kangawallafox/ etc. 4: you must be 18+ (youngest age I’ll accept is 18). I’m twenty and would get into lots of trouble for rping with a minor. No amount of “oh but I’m legal here.” Or “I’m underage but okay with it.” Will convince me. The same goes for your characters. 5: please make sure this is something you have time for, all too often I get rpers who are willing to rp but then get swamped by work or something else. No it’s not your sole purpose in life to rp with me but if you cannot even have a cup of coffee because you’re so busy then you’re probably too busy to rp. 6: you must be able to reply once or more a day at the very most and once or twice a week at the very least. Any longer than a week without a reply and I’ll assume interest has been lost. 7: if something is wrong never hesitate to message me and talk about it. I’m always happy to listen to my partner and discuss problems and sort them out. 8: please do not message me once then never answer me again. I will not tolerate ghosting.please also message me to let me know if you’re going to be unable to respond for a while so I know you haven’t just left. I don’t want to know why you disappeared for five minutes but I do want to know why you’ve seemingly disappeared off earth yet you’re online. 9: please do not message me asking for a fandom rp or an rp that isn’t sci-fi. Ever since Malia was little, she’d been known for being obnoxious, extremely nosy, and out-going. Because she didn’t fit the perfect picture of an esteemed lady, her relationship with her parents was always strained, particularly with her father, who was very unpleasant when unsettled. Russell also never really hid his disdain for her. When she was younger, she often found herself in shambles over the fact that her father couldn’t love her the way she was—but as she grew older, she very quickly realized that his approval wasn’t and shouldn’t be everything.

Malia was never really good at completely following the rules either and always tried to weasel her way around them and push the limits of the higher marks around her. In fact, when she was given the mark of a submissive, her entire family was, as people say, shook. 1. Favourite food?

I really like stuff I shouldn’t have a lot of.. Like breads, pastas, and sweets. I also really like meat, and especially seafood like crab, scallops, mussels, shrimp, etc.

2. FMAB or FMA03?

FMAB all the way, but I still like aspects of 03! I saw 03 first so I’ll always have respect for it, but I just think FMAB is superior in my opinion :)

3. Do you read a lot, not at all? Something in the middle?

I only really read fanfiction at the moment, but I have a lot of books that I would like to read! I really need to establish and make time for me to, since I always have other things I could be doing I suppose?

I’m not... Back in school, our junior high and high schools didn’t require cards or anything, and even then, I don’t live super close to any libraries I don’t think?

Dylan is my actual first name ^^ My mom always used to say Victoria is my real first name, but it’s not on my birth certificate, plus I’ve literally only ever gone by Dylan so I don’t really consider it my first name anymore.

There’s one roleplay blog I used to do almost all of my roleplaying with... I don’t remember their url, and I think they actually deleted their tumblr eventually, but I never knew if they had a personal url or anything. They were one of the few people who ever interacted with me.. So I guess I never had the chance to tell him how much their interactions meant to me. I did end up quitting public rp but they definitely kept me going longer than I would’ve without them, and that rping eventually led to fanfiction so :’)

Okay, so here’s a thing I’ve been debating requesting for quite some time, but if anybody out there has any interest in making the Rob Lowe character I’ve up until now been using as an NPC, I’d be forever grateful. 

The details:

Name: David Emerson

Marital Status: Widowed, currently married to Jordan Emerson (Inbar Lavi)

Children: Ryan Emerson (Ross Butler)

Occupation: College English Professor.

Super Rambly History:

So basically, David here fell in love with his wife, Alice (Constance Wu), back in college.  She was his soulmate, and David intended on spending forever with her.  Fast forward a few years, David and Alice get married and a year after that, Alice gives birth to Ryan, their only son.  The family is incredibly happy.  David works as an English professor at a local college and Alice focuses on on raising their son. 

Fast forward another thirteen years and David’s worst nightmare comes true.  During the summer before Ryan starts his freshman year in high school, Alice is killed by a drunk driver while driving home one night in the rain.  He’s completely devastated and doesn’t know how to even begin to grieve for his wife and be the support system his son needs.  Ryan had always been closer to Alice, but with Alice gone, David was on his own. 

He threw himself into his work and shut himself off from practically anybody except for Ryan.  He was so heartbroken that if he lost focus on the things he needed to accomplish, his mind would wander to dark places and he’d convince himself that he didn’t deserve to live without his wife. 

Then he met Jordan.  After summer ended, Jordan was assigned to be a TA for the english course he taught,  The woman was beautiful and intelligent and seemed to be able to sense what he was feeling.  She never pushed him, but within a month or two, David found himself actually looking forward to getting out of bed again.  Jordan quickly became a close friend, and on nights that Ryan was out with his friends, David found himself calling or texting her to hang out.

They went on their first date just after Christmas, and even though Jordan was significantly younger than him, David developed feelings for her.  Things didn’t work the way they had with Alice though.  In his mind, no matter how many times he told himself he needed to move on, NOBODY could replace Alice.  When he finally slept with Jordan after a couple months of dating, it was nice, but it wasn’t the same. 

Long story short, they became super close friends and fell in love, but in David’s mind, that’s kind of a betrayal of his wife’s memory.  He’s so fixated on Alice still that even though he and Jordan married a year after they started dating, he doesn’t feel the same way about her as he did his first wife.  Still, she’s a good stepmother and she’s been doing an amazing job taking care of him and Ryan.

Currently David and Jordan have a relationship in which Jordan is allowed to sleep with other people providing she never tells him about it.  He doesn’t like that he can’t bring himself to connect with her like that, but placates himself by letting her find satisfaction elsewhere.  Jordan, to her credit, doesn’t sleep around too much, but she also has a few friends she’s been known to spend time with when David takes Ryan out of town every month for their ‘father-son bonding weekend.’

What I’d Like from you!

I’ve decided that after a year or so of having David as a background NPC, I’d like Jordan to be able to interact with her husband and for Ryan, if need be, to interact with his father.  Personality wise, he should be loving, intelligent, and put his whole self into things he pursues.  I picture him as Chris Traeger with less intensity and Sam Seaborn intelligence.  I have a whole bunch of headcanons too that we can discuss, and you can read more about his relationship with Ryan and Jordan in their bios, found on my muse page. 

I’d also like whoever may be interested in this role to be active and not only feel like rping as a dude for three hours on the second Wednesday of every month but only if the wind is blowing westward.  I don’t need 24/7 David, but I’d like to be able to do a thread without having to wait more than a day for a response.  Maybe it’s selfish of me, but that’s the beauty of running my own blog.

First off, if there was a crown for walk up RP, this woman would be wearing it 24/7. She can enter just about any setting and own it, and not only that but she can make a whole room feel included too. I’ve seen her convert whole taverns from a bunch of people standing off in corners doing nothing to a whole table surrounded by laughing players. She makes others come alive, and that’s not something that many RPers can do, at least not so naturally as she can.

But what’s more, she’s one of my closest friends. My guild would not exist were it not for her. She helped me back on my feet after a bad guild, and gave me the strength to pick up and chase my own dream here on WrA. I owe all of my guild, my friends in this game, in no small part to her.

Despite the fact that we are both loud mouths, I love this gal. She will go out of her way for you, and guarantee one hell of a ride on the way both in writing and story evolution. Proud to call her my officer and my friend.

I wish for one second this dude could see himself how I do, and how the rest of the guild does too. Some people write their characters, some people make them, and some select few pour their heart into them. They put their own love, their own emotion, their own life-giving breath into their characters to where they stop being characters and they feel alive. This is what Stab does, and he does it with such abandon that it’s inspiring to the insanity of the writer’s mind.

He shares my love of storytelling, he shares my love of creation, and all in all if that was not enough, this kid will put it all down for anyone. He has a calming presence that can make you feel like it’s all going to be okay. Even if you don’t know, even if he does not know, you feel okay with him around. He’s been through it, and will help you through it too when needed.

Biggest goddamn heart in a smol body. Love this guy.

In terms of pure writing talent, this guy ranks up there for me. Get him into a one on one RP, and he will blow your mind not only in the sheer volume of his posts/stories, but also with how well it all flows. He etches a picture out that you can follow and engage, and I’ve never been in an RP with him that felt stagnant.

Moreso, the dude is like a personal body guard. He will throw down for his friends, and throw down hard. He sticks up for those he cares for, just like his character, and that is loyalty to a rare degree. It’s encouraging to know people like him still exist.

When I first met Hat, I fell in love with the character. Fun, energized, and all around brilliant. But as I got to know her, I saw it to be just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the shy exterior lies one of the most caring souls I know. She thinks about things in ways even I sometimes forget. She’s in tune with the way people feel, think, and express themselves on such an intuitive level that it borders on empathic.

She is honest, will tell you when she thinks you are right and when she thinks you are wrong. But it’s always done in such a respectful and gentle manner that it is powerful and moving. She’s given me pause at times, and I feel I’m a better person from her influences.

To say nothing for her writing. I don’t catch her in game nearly as much as I’d like, due to work, but the times we have RPed she can twist emotion and word into a poetic symphony.

This lil love has recently hit a bit of a writing rut. And I know those can be one hell of a time to get out of. That does not change, however, the sheer quality they have brought to the table thus far. Their character Sophie is a gem, and every interaction with her feels so full of life and vibrant that I just can not help but wear a smile when I’m writing with them.

Sheepy was a bit of a gamble when we first met, for personal reasons. And if anyone alive is a perfect reason why one should not hold prejudice, it is her. Ria has absolutely put time and love into this guild, and into all of the members too. What’s more, she’s absolutely overflowing with affection and care. It’s palpable when you speak to her. You feel heard, you feel cared for, you feel important and you feel loved. That alone just makes me want to be around her, even if we are not RPing.

Him and I started really writing together in earnest only about..a bit under a year ago. Since then, he’s elevated the standard I hold for myself when I write relationship RP, and even all forms of RP. I feel encouraged to always write my best with him, and feel compelled to push myself to better forms of wording if only to mark myself up more and more in their view.

But moreso, they have shown extreme patience, understanding, and friendship. A sort of person I wish lived closer so I could buy them a drink or twenty. They are a loyal friend, an ally, and a damn good person all around.

They have been a part of this guild almost as long as the guild has been a thing. Early on, they proved to be a good writer and an all around sweet person. But then I got to know them more and more. Behind the calm and relatively subtle exterior is one of the single most genuine sweethearts I’ve ever met. They absolutely light up my world just by saying hello, and any time I’m even the slightest bit upset they are the first to message me to ask if I’m okay. Often times..they have been the only one to even notice, which shows just how in tune they are with others.

for the majority of her life, tina had gone by unnoticed by her peers. she felt unseen, like she was a ghost walking among them, watching from the outside as everyone else lived their lives. it wasn’t until she joined glee club her freshman year of college that she really started to feel like she’d come into view for the first time, and realized that, when she actually opened up, people wanted to get to know her.

though she’s been fortunate enough to find some really great friends, tina’s luck perpetually seems to be in low supply. for some reason, whether it’s in her love life, on stage, or just in general, misfortune seems to follow her around. it’s something she tries to cope with as much as she can, but there are times where she feels like she wants to just burst into tears because of it all (…and more often than not, does).

it’s not something a lot of people would guess about her, considering her usual, rather quiet demeanor, but tina is a big gossip. she’s always listening, using her powers of being unseen to overhear things she probably shouldn’t, and occasionally spreading along those bits of information to her closest friends. it’s a bad habit, she knows, but she simply can’t resist the urge.

honestly, though it might not seem like it to some people, because i know i still have a good way to go, i think i’m doing a lot better than i expected. i have friends, i no longer feel the need to fake a stutter just to get out of talking to anyone, and i even had a pretty big role in the spring musical last year. it’s not much, i guess, but to me it is. i’ve come out of my shell a lot more than i thought was really possible, and day by day i’m coming out even more. maybe by graduation i’ll be totally out of that thing.

HOW’RE YOU FEELING ABOUT ALL THE SHOW CHOIR RIVALRY?

it’s a little intense, and, i’m going to be honest, i don’t totally get why it’s all so vicious. don’t get me wrong, i can be competitive, and i like to win, but i think that all the fighting and dramatics just get in the way of focusing on what we’re supposed to be doing.

Vanilla, as in I don’t like doing the colors and all that, even though it’s a very cool concept. I shy away from the EA vanilla sims though, by using more and more realistic skins, makeup, etc.

I don’t really “play” my game anymore, I really just go in-game and use poses to further my legacy and the stories I have going at the moment, so it really depends on what’s going on in my sims lives (that I decide muwahahaha)

Each sims game (besides 4) holds a special place in my heart. I remember being a young kid loving how cool it was to be able to customize houses to what I wanted them to look at. I made one house in the first sims that I need to re-create in sims 3 because it was cozy and gorgeous, but I only remember specific details so the rest will be up to me I guess!

I remember getting so excited when sims 2 came out too. More customizations, TODDLERS!!!! and more interactions. I began experimenting with CC too, I remember, mostly clothing and hair. My friend would come over, between the two of us we basically had every single expansion, and we’d take turns playing for an hour at a time. Seasons was my favorite expansion in that one, and I remember having another really cozy house in there with a small family, and I think the greenhouse feature was the coolest thing ever! My sim waded through the super deep snow and instantly changed into shorts and a t-shirt when she got inside the greenhouse!

And of course, there’s Sims 3, which I still use. Placing furniture at angles was a big deal, and I REALLY started with CC with this game. And the sim customization, omg! My friend and I spent HOURS just making our first sims in the game, they were room mates and we had a blast letting them move about the open world.

I don’t quite remember how I got into the tumblr community, but I remember posting my (SUPER LOW QUALITY) sims pictures, so proud, and then I’d look at everyone else’s and go how TF are they making these sims??? 

I think meeting @nonsimsical helped me realize how much more I could put into my sims to make them more realistic, because at that time, I only had Madlaina and Jaymie and another family who I have since scrapped (may re-boot them with makeovers, idk) and now I don’t think I’ll ever be able to move away from these sims of mine. I never really understood how people got so close and fond of their sims until I started RPing and writing these characters out, and now I couldn’t bear to leave them!

Sims 4 to me feels....empty. Idk, I got bored with it about a day after my boyfriend bought me the game as a birthday present and I haven’t touched it much since. I haven’t even installed it on my new computer.

DREAM JOB: Secretly, I would love to be an artist known for large-scale sculpture and "installation" pieces--artworks that create or transform a space. Things like an all-white room with a pond in the middle. Places that feel like a Magritte painting in 3 dimensions. Or even small-scale sculptures like a miniature red tree in a dollhouse room with a mirrored interior (and with a chessboard floor). But things that feel like being in a dream, either way.

WHAT I’M WEARING: Jeans, a gray henley, a plaid flannel shirt, brown shoes, and my typewriter key necklace. I wear this rather a lot. I wear black-on-black-on-black neo-gothic clothes all winter and then get into this "escapee from a Sergio Leone western" look once the weather warms up. The weather is warming up. It cracks me up when people ask if I’m a lesbian because I’m wearing a flannel shirt. Lesbians and non-lesbians wear flannel shirts as well as other kinds of shirts. RANDOM FACT: I can remember being 2 years old. I also remember most of my dreams. I know I've gotten enough sleep if I can remember at least 2 or 3 dreams from the night before. I have very bad eyesight--so bad that my ophthalmologist continues to be surprised by it when I come in for annual exams. My mother has nicknamed me “Mycroft” because I’m observant but lazy. She also says that I would have been some kind of priestess or oracle centuries ago because of my vivid dreams and bad eyesight. I am also thinking of shaving one side of my head in advance of my birthday (a “milestone” birthday) because I think that would be badass.

I got burnt out on it all, though, and had to excuse myself from quite so much fandom involvement.

WHY DID I CHOOSE MY URL: I've been using icarus_suraki in various permutations as an "internet handle" since about 1999 or 2000 (yes, that long because I am old, really old, old as balls). I've been fascinated with flying (or being unable to fly; I tried my best and jumped off a lot of things) for most of my life--so "Icarus" seemed to suit. "Suraki" is "Icarus" reversed and spelled a little more phonetically. So it's kind of a palindrome. I like symmetry and parallels as well.
