Roommate AU + character in danger. Wait for it. Friendship: Dr. Barbara Lake and Barbara the Barbarian. (AKA we needed some Trollhunters rep in this and Tantrum reminded me how much I love Barbaras)

Trope Mash Up (I still have so many I might have to stop, but this one was in my drafts so I’m finishing it!)

After years of sweat, tears, and headaches, Barbara managed to make it into medical school for a few more years of sweat, tears, and headaches. This she expected. This she signed up for. 

She hadn’t expected the 6′5″ nordic roommate… also named Barbara. Known on campus as Barbie.

Nor had she expected Fearless, the cat that came with Barbie. Cats certainly weren’t allowed in the dorm, but within 10 minutes of having the fraternity across the campus attempt a prank on their dorm, only for Fearless to fling himself from the bushes outside their ground floor room and decimate the eight cans of Cheese Whiz and two rolls of duct tape they had in their duffle bag, Barbara decided she was okay with breaking a few rules to keep Fearless around.

He was an oddly athletic cat. Much like Barbie was also oddly athletic even for her tall, northern frame. Fast and sharp, like some trained warrior rather than a medical student who... didn’t share any of Barbara classes.

Barbara didn’t want to focus on oddities; she wanted to focus on her final leg of becoming a doctor. And that’s exactly what she does. Steadfast. No matter how often the hair on the back of her neck rises, or how

[AKA, and bear with me, the future Dr. Barbara Lake is the mother of the Being who would stay the Eternal Light, and Barbara the Barbarian---a descendent of humans from the Barbaric Archipelago, trained to fight against dragon and troll alike---is tasked with keeping this woman alive as forces from the Darklands try and circumvent fate. Sent by the soothsayers of her village (the other long-standing tribe of the B.A. is tasked with monitoring the entrance of the Hidden World; but Bog Burglars were more involved with Trolls).

And the future Dr. Lake is SO focused on not getting distracted that she keeps trying to excuse all the crazy shit happening around her like some basic bitch muggle. Literal supernatural attempts on her life and all she can do is look up from an 18 page term paper and ask Barbie if the frat house got her with that weird green silly putty again. Also was that a spear?

It would be a surefire comedy-adventure. Barb and Barbie and Fearless. Half of that dorm is fighting the supernatural. The other half is surviving academia (Fearless fancies himself a therapy cat on the side). Along the way they form the bond of a lifetime).]
