Can I request no. 20 for EJ/Sam? Or another avs pairing if you're not comfortable with that :)
I don’t really feel qualified to write EJ/Sam, so instead, have some Tyson/Gabe ~Misfits AU because I’ve gotten into that ten years later. And sorry for the super long delay!
20. Kissing in a stairwell, giving them an artificial height difference.
“It’s just not fair,” Tyson says. He swings himself up onto the railing of the concrete stairs that lead from the community center down to the river, because it’s not only unfair, he’s also bored. No one told him that community service would involve so much doing nothing at all.
“What isn’t?” Gabe asks, from where he’s lying back on the stairs themselves. Tyson chances a look over, then looks away, quickly. Gabe’s more than a little deadly, all stretched out like that, like some sort of—lion in repose, or something, Tyson doesn’t know. And he’s smiling at Tyson like he knows it, and a little like he’s humoring Tyson.
“Don’t ask,” EJ tries to suggest, from the bottom of the stairs, but Tyson ignores him. If he really didn’t want to know he could leave and go…well. Somewhere.
“I got the worst powers,” Tyson announces. He’s been thinking about this. “I mean, come on. Mind reading? Awesome.” He gestures to Nate, who shrugs. “Turning back time? Would be cool if he could figure out how to control it.”
“Fuck you too,” EJ tells him, but he sounds a little flattered.
“And like, invisibility? Who wouldn’t want that? That’s like, a classic.” G grins a little.
“Like you’ve ever wanted people not looking at you,” EJ points out. Tyson flips him off back. It’s a fair point—sometimes Tyson thinks turning invisible might be his worst nightmare, just disappearing from the world without any sort of trace. But still. It’s a sick power.
“And what do I get?” Tyson asks, rhetorically. He hops up onto the rail, so he’s balancing on it like a balance beam. Gabe makes an aborted gesture, like he’s going to caution Tyson against it, even though he knows he doesn’t have to. Tyson does wobble a little bit, but then he catches himself, and takes a step off of the rail. He doesn’t go anywhere. “I float.”
“Flying’s maybe the most classic power,” Nate points out, because he’s a bro. Tyson grins at him, but,
“I don’t fly,” Tyson says. For the thousandth time, he tries to do that—to really do a Superman sort of rocketing off. He drifts a few centimeters higher, but nothing else. “I just. Float.”
“Aw, Tys. It’s okay, we know you always wanted to be taller,” Gabe drawls, and Tyson scowls, because it’s not like it’s not true.
“Does it count if his feet still aren’t on the ground?” EJ asks. Tyson kicks at his shoulder. “Ow!”
“Okay, maybe these powers aren’t all bad,” Tyson retorts, and grins as Nate snickers and Gabe covers his mouth like he’s laughing but doesn’t want to show it.
“At least you have powers,” Gabe says. He sounds sulky about that, because he’s been sulky ever since the storm gave them all their powers and he’s been irritatingly normal. If Gabe Landeskog could ever be normal. “That’s really the not fair thing.”
“C’mon, Gabe, don’t you know anything? The leader’s power is always heart,” EJ says. Gabe sneers at him.
“Don’t be ridiculous, EJ. Landy already has a power. His hair’s a power all on its own.” Tyson floats over towards Gabe, whose hands immediately went up to his hair. He flushes a little when he notices. “Or like, his face. No way someone looks like that without weird power things. Maybe his powers worked retroactively, so we only remember him looking like that all the—” Nate’s giving him ‘stop it your embarrassingly huge crush is showing’ looks, which like, Tyson knows. He knows that he’s been gone since the first day he showed up and there was Gabe’s stupid gorgeous face and his stupid gorgeous body and his earnest way of talking and the way he humors Tyson at the same time he shuts him down when Tyson probably needs it. And god knows Tyson’s not exactly good at not showing everything he’s feeling. That would have been the best power Tyson could have gotten—the ability to control his mouth even a little.
But he didn’t, and instead, he’s somehow still talking. “Do we have any younger pictures of Gabe? We need to check—“
“My hair isn’t a power,” Gabe retorts, thankfully cutting Tyson off before he keeps humiliating himself.
“We don’t know that,” G points out. “We could run tests.”
“No, don’t be ridiculous, I was just kidding,” Tyson says. Gabe’s head jerks up to him, and there’s a look there like he’s offended. Hot people, Tyson thinks—always so touchy when there’s a suggestion they’re less hot than they are.
Tyson drops down so he’s sitting on the step next to Gabe, so he can reach out and flick at Gabe’s temple. “Gabe’s superpower is his enormous head, we all know that.”
It gets a laugh, as Tyson knew it would, even as Gabe bats his hand away. Tyson lets himself drift off, except for how Gabe grabs at his wrist, doesn’t let him go far. Tyson very distinctly does not think about Gabe’s hand around his wrist, big and warm and solid.
“Watch it,” Gabe says. “Unless you want to end up over the river again?”
Tyson flushes, but, “That was ages ago, I’m loads better,” he argues. Fine, the first few days he figured out he could float he’d caught a few air currents he didn’t know how to fight and had ended up being blown all over the place, but he’s figured out how to stay in one place now. “You haven’t had to tie me down for days.”
Tyson does hear himself. He also see Gabe’s cheeks go a little red, even as everyone else snorts.
“Kinky,” EJ says, and Tyson watches as Gabe’s eyes dart over to Nate. Which, like. Could mean anything. Maybe Gabe’s into Nate. Maybe Gabe’s thinking how stupid Tyson’s crush is and doesn’t want Nate to overhear. Tyson always knew, and now Nate’s confirmed, that other people don’t say everything that comes into their head. And apparently everyone else is also thinking about sex a lot. Or at least, everyone is when everyone is a bunch of early twenty-somethings cooped up doing mandatory community service.
“Like you’ve never thought about gagging me,” Tyson retorts, waggling his eyebrows at EJ, because that’s easier than thinking about how Gabe’s still holding onto him.
EJ wrinkles his nose. “Ugh,” he says. Tyson blows a kiss. “I leave the kinky shit to you guys.”
“Boring,” Tyson taunts, but he does notice, because he’s not an idiot, how G’s looking at EJ. Props to the kid, Tyson thinks, even if he doesn’t really get it. He’ll have to ask Nate later—see if he’s right, and then figure out what they can do to make that happen, because Tyson is all for True Love, or at least, G’s ambition to climb EJ. Tyson very purposefully does not think about his own climbing of men ambitions, which his powers would probably make easier, not that he doesn’t believe in Gabe’s ability to hold him up because Gabe’s ripped on top of everything else, and shit, not thinking about this is probably as bad as thinking about it, and—
“Ugh, shut up, we’ll talk later,” Nate says, apropos of nothing unless you were in Tyson’s head. Tyson shoots him a thumbs up. It gets a suspicious look from the other three of them.
“Yeah, I’m not dealing with you kids anymore,” EJ announces, which means he’s strategizing a time to interrogate Nate or Tyson about what that means later. Tyson is very glad EJ did not get the mindreading powers, because he’s the biggest gossip Tyson’s ever known. If he knew about Tyson’s crush, Tyson would never hear the end of it. Or like, knew the scope of it, at least. Tyson’s not pretending EJ doesn’t know something. “I’m getting a snack.” He stands up from the steps, stretching.
“I’ll come to!” G volunteers, scrambling to his feet too. It’s kind of cute. Tyson’s into it. Or not like, into it into it, because he has his own tall blonde dude to hopelessly think about climbing, but it’s sweet.
“I’m going to go. Somewhere.” Nate says, suddenly, which makes Tyson gape at him. That’s all sort of betrayal. He thinks that, very loudly, at Nate, who winces, then grins at Tyson, which immediately makes Tyson suspicious. “You won’t be mad.”
“How could I not be mad? My Dog is leaving me!”
“For like five minutes, your co-dependent ass will survive,” EJ says, then tugs Nate to his feet too.
“You’ve known each other like a month,” Gabe says, his lips pressed together, “How are you already this co-dependent?”
“You don’t understand our bond,” Tyson informs him. He thinks about floating over to like, throw an arm over Nate, but Gabe’s somehow still holding onto him, and he is definitely pathetic enough that he’s not going to do anything to stop that. So instead he stays where he is, until it’s just him and Gabe out back. Which is isolated in ways Tyson is definitely not thinking about. Or at least, glad Nate isn’t here to hear him think about.
“I don’t think anyone understands you,” Gabe agrees, and Tyson grins back.
“That’s right, I’m an unknowable. I’m an international man of mystery.”
“Sure, you’re mysterious, that’s the word I’d use,” Gabe drawls back, and Tyson makes a face at him.
“I could be mysterious.”
“No, Tys.” Gabe shakes his head, but he’s smiling. “I really don’t think you could.”
“You just said no one understands me!”
“That’s not the same as being mysterious—you’re just weird.”
“Hey. There are pictures of one of us with a dildo strapped to their head, and surprisingly it’s not me.”
Gabe snorts and tosses his hair back, shameless. “I’ve seen your Insta, Tys. One of us has a suspicious amount of costumes with them dressed up as furry animals, and it’s not me.”
“They’re comfortable and easy!” Tyson protests, which is like, most of the truth. “Not all of us have greek god bodies that we want to show off with all our costumes. Or like, Viking god? I don’t know, were Viking gods ripped? I probably should do some research, if we’ve got another few months of community service together left. Are there pictures? Or maybe I should just base everything off of Chris Hemsworth, you’ve definitely got—“
“Oh my god, Tyson,” Gabe cuts him off, his hand tightening over Tyson’s wrist. Nate’s not here, so Tyson lets himself feel some sort of way about that.
“What? Was that like, insensitive to your culture? Sorry, I said I’d learn—”
Gabe’s still staring at him. “This is where Nate’s power would be really useful,” he says, and Tyson shakes his head.
“No, you super do not want to read my mind. Nate says it gives him a constant headache.”
“You give me a constant headache anyway,” Gabe retorts on a bit of a groan, which is—Tyson draws back, his wrist slipping out of Gabe’s grasp. He gets it, he’s a lot, but he didn’t—it kind of sucks to hear, is all. He floats up a little, away from Gabe. Maybe this is a good power. It lets him get away.
Gabe scrambles to his feet too. “No, not like—” He runs a hand over his face, his beard. “I just never know when you’re serious.”
“Very rarely, if I can help it.” Tyson crosses his arms over his chest anyway. Floats up a little more, so he can be higher than Gabe. It’s kind of nice. He’s used to always been shorter than most of the guys he hangs around with, and especially the guys he hooks up with, which he’s into, don’t get him wrong, but maybe there’s something to the whole ‘higher ground’ deal.
Also, Gabe is, of course, super hot looking up at Tyson, sort of through his eyelashes. Even when Tyson’s a little pissed at him.
“You’re serious about some things,” Gabe argues, which, right. They’re fighting. Or something. “You’re serious about your family. About Nate. About figuring out your powers.”
“Well, it’s either that or float away, and then who would lift everyone’s spirits? You’d be stuck with EJ’s jokes, and he’s just not as good—”
“What I can’t tell,” Gabe goes on, and his shoulders are set, and he looks like—fuck, maybe this is his power. Sheer determination, even though Tyson is floating above him. Even though he also somehow looks soft. Smiling a little wryly. “Is if you’re serious about me.”
Tyson blinks. “What?”
Gabe waves an irritated hand, like that’ll take in everything. “You say so much, and you talk a lot about—me, and we flirt, but I can’t—you do that sort of thing with everyone, and sometimes it seems like it’s different with me, but I can’t tell.”
Tyson’s still not computing. He knows all of that. He hasn’t made a secret of any of it. He never expected Gabe to actually call him out on it. “Do you—which do you want? I can like, try to stop, if it makes you uncomfortable, I’m not good at like, controlling my mouth, but I can—“
“I don’t want you to stop,” Gabe snaps, and Tyson freezes. Well, he drifts a little bit, before he clamps down on that and stops moving, but other than that, he can’t quite think. Gabe takes a breath. “I just want to know if you mean it.”
Tyson takes a deep breath. “If this is just you fishing for compliments—“
“Tyson,” Gabe says, in that tone he has, half amused and half exasperated, which somehow hits Tyson really hard, and has since the first time Gabe said Tyson’s name like that.
“I could mean it,” Tyson says, slowly. Trying to actually think about what he’s saying. It’s not a state that comes naturally, but he can do it. Fuck, he’d like to have Sam’s power right now, so if things go wrong, he could just disappear, and Gabe wouldn’t have to give him some sort of pitying look. “If you wanted me to.”
“If I—come here,” Gabe growls, which is pretty hot, and then he’s got a hand around Tyson and is tugging him forward. Maybe the wind’s in their favor, but it doesn’t seem to take much to tug Tyson closer, and then Gabe’s looking up at him again, and Tyson hasn’t had this angle on a guy in a while, but he knows what a guy looks like when he’s decided to kiss Tyson, and it’s not a look Tyson ever really expected to be on Gabe’s face, but it definitely is. “Yeah?” Gabe asks, quiet.
Tyson nods, probably more enthusiastically than is dignified, but dignity’s overrated. Instead of dignity, he gets Gabe pushing up onto his tiptoes, a hand around Tyson’s neck to draw him down, and then—then they’re kissing, and Tyson’s thought about this enough that Nate’s actually left the room before, but it’s somehow better than that because it’s real—the scrape of Gabe’s beard, his hand in Tyson’s hair, holding himself up, the softness of his lips, the—everything.
Gabe’s saying something against Tyson’s lips, and Tyson pulls back. “What?”
“I said, come down here,” Gabe repeats, then he’s kissing Tyson again, deeper, and Tyson’s so surprised that Gabe’s tongue is actually in his mouth that he drops like a stone.
“Fuck!” he swears, because his knees hurt like a bitch whenever he falls like that, and stairs are really bad places for that, so his arms waves a little bit until Gabe shifts his grip to Tyson’s shoulder and pulls him back upright.
Gabe is looking down at him now, even more than usual, his lips pressed very tightly together like he’s trying not to laugh.
“Shut up,” Tyson tells him.
“Didn’t say anything.”
“Shut up anyway,” Tyson says, and this time he’s the one who has to pull Gabe down and be on his tiptoes to kiss Gabe, with their normal height difference and the two steps. Gabe makes a half-surprised noise, but then he gets with the program, and it’s—fuck. It’s still good. Gabe is so fucking hot, and of course he’s a good kisser too.
Then Gabe’s pulling away, and maybe Tyson makes a noise at that, he’s not proud. “What?” Tyson demands.
“This isn’t working.”
Which. Okay. Tyson knows his face does a thing, and it’s like—whatever, Tyson never expected this, right, of course Gabe doesn’t—
“No!” Gabe goes on, quick and sounding a little panicked. “No, it is, just—these stairs are fucking killing my back,” he says, waving at the stairs, and Tyson is so relieved that he punches Gabe’s arm.
“Ow!”
“You’re such a drama queen,” Tyson complains, and then he floats up, until they’re right at a level. Maybe Tyson’s powers are good for something, he thinks. Definitely makes the whole climbing thing easier. “Is this good, your highness?”
Gabe grins, something wolfish in it “It’ll do for now,” he purrs, and Tyson’s scared in the sexiest way possible, which he deals with by kissing Gabe again. Sometime they’ll have to go inside and find a place that isn’t outside to do this where they can actually, like, get some clothes off, but right now moving seems impossible.
“Wait, I’ve figured it out,” Tyson says, when Gabe’s moved on to biting at his jaw, finding the places that make Tyson moan and squirm. “This is your power, I knew it. Kissing. Or like, that’s a part of the hotness thing, it’s—”
“Not a power,” Gabe retorts, then makes a sound into Tyson’s neck when Tyson’s fingers tighten in his hair.
“We don’t know that, though. We could—”
“Tyson,” Gabe cuts him off, pulling away to look at Tyson properly. He looks messy and gorgeous, and Tyson is still a little confused if this is real or not, but he’s going with it. “Shut up.”
“Bossy,” Tyson retorts, but then he’s going to blame an errant wind that pushes him back into Gabe, and they’re kissing again. Until,
“Hey, you know what I haven’t done yet?” Tyson asks. Gabe makes an incredulous sounding noise, a breath away from Tyson’s mouth. “No, this is important.” Tyson pulls at Gabe’s hair until he’s looking at Tyson. Tyson grins at him. “I haven’t had sex with someone who knew about my powers. Think about all the experimenting I have to do!”
“Tyson,” Gabe chokes out, in a very different tone, and Tyson laughs. Fine. Maybe his powers are good for something.

GARVEZ STORIES
COOL IN THE POOL
There are still some things that Luke doesn’t understand about Penelope; for example, why she wants to go to the pool so much if she has never learned to swim. Of course, here the surface is completely transparent and the water is up to her neck at most, however... It still hasn’t sense. Naturally, for the occasion she decided to wear the sexiest costume she has: purple with lilac stripes, a cross in the upper part that is more highlighted, while the lower half is simpler but not less provocative. And he, just as obviously, can only find himself with the pair of tightest shorts he has. Quantico, big problems are expected.
-I can't reach, Pen. Why Cinthya and you come here every weekend, if neither one of you can swim?- he tries again, trying to keep up with her. She is strangely in a hurry, walking as if her life depended on it. And she doesn’t wear her usual glasses but daily contact lenses.
She raises a hand to silence him and she crosses the threshold, immediately lighting up with joy. -There!- she exclaims, talking to herself. He reaches her.
-What?- but then he understands where his girlfriend's gaze is headed. A dark-haired man, his hair lighter than his, smooth and short, his body dry, his eyes green, his t-shirt and his costume red. The lifeguard. And he understands that the right question would be who she was looking for and not what. -Penelope!- he tries to use a reproachful tone.
-What ?- she stops staring at the man and spreads their towel on the grass, in the second row. In a moment she make the sundress disappear and puts on the obligatory swim cap. -Oh, yes, it would definitely be worth drowning.- she comments, still as if she was not conscious of the person next to her. She even bites her lips and passes her tongue over it. Gladly Luke would crushed her against the lawn to refresh her memory.
-Penelope, do you realize what you're saying?- it's easy for him to undress and wears the cap. He realizes that some girls, some a little too young, seem to show interest to him, and wink. Maybe they believe that the blonde is just his friend, his step sister... and the lifeguard might also think it. It is necessary to remedy immediately.
-Luke!- she squeaks, but half of the man's name is absorbed by his mouth pressed against hers greedily. -What are you doing?- from the corner of the eye he sees the girls shake their heads. The message has arrived to someone. Luke shrugs.
-Kiss my girlfriend. What's wrong?- he enjoys her annoyed expression. After a moment Penelope starts to enter the pool. He follows her and looks at her body as white as milk diving into the limpid surface. Why does every image with her as protagonist immediately become erotic in his mind? She shudders as her nipples stiffen. -Cold?- he asks, appearing behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist. Action with double effect: cover a clear "problem", but at the same time increase and preserve its hardness. She also seems to have noticed it.
-Uh, Alvez, you seem to me pretty hot...- he plunges, hoping that cold water can calm his hot spirits. He smiles at the implicit praise. -But you're not the only one, today.- she stares at the lifeguard again, and Luke wonders what he has more than him, what attracts her so much. He hears a feeling he is not particularly used to, combined with another sensation, far more familiar. Competitive spirit.
-You're really bad, Pen.- he tells her, before starting to get serious. She watches him swim, the muscular arms perform a series of strokes until he reaches the opposite side of the pool, just where the cute lifeguard is sitting. She chuckles, considering his reaction. When she moves her gaze again in the last point where she had seen him, she can no longer find him. The obligation of the swim cap makes everyone more anonymous. Maybe it's the one next to the edge or...
-Ah!- she feels dragging down, pulled by her legs. The panic immediately seizes her, and it doesn’t even leave her when she recognizes her assailant. She opens her eyes underwater and they re-emerge together. She hardly catches her breath. -Are you crazy?- perhaps she hasn’t talked to him enough about her fear of drowning.
-It was just a joke, baby. And maybe a little bit a revenge.- he says quietly.
-Revenge for what? You don’t like not being the only cool guy in the situation, eh?- she exclaims, recovering confidence now that her feet are anchored to the bottom again. -I thought that thanks to Morgan you were prepared at this moment.- they move in a quieter corner.
-Morgan is another thing. I resigned myself to the fact that you look at him as statuesque god of sculpted chocolate thunder, but I didn’t think that... that I would have to deal with others Morgan.- he seems extremely insecure and this warms her. -I know that it is not something that is realistically possible, but I would like to be the only man who makes you dizzy.- he raises his eyes until he meets the female ones.
-Hey, honey, maybe you'll never be the only man I consider attractive, but think about this: you're the only one who can see me naked, or just wake up, with hair messed up, the only one for which I overcame my fear of cohabitation, the only one in whose arms I can fall asleep.- Luke shakes his head, feeling stupid. -It's comforting to know that even those like you can have inferiority conflicts.- she teases him.
-I didn’t feel inferior to that one.- he notice that he is looking at them, or maybe he is staring at Penelope. -I have something that he can’t even dream of.- he approaches her, who seems to ask him in silence what he is referring to. -You, you silly.- he smears a kiss on her lips and she can’t help but kisses him back.
-What are you doing? You will traumatize the children!- they both laugh, embracing each other.
-Just marking my territory.- she opens her eyes wide and then submerges him with splashes. -You want in on this?- she nods, before fleeing backwards, until she notices that she no longer touches and is forced to end up directly in his arms, like a fish fallen into a net. -It wasn’t so difficult. You wave the white flag?- she is clearly annoyed, but also amused.
-We transfer the battle in another territory and we are going to see who is whining the surrender.- she answers proudly. Luke takes a last look at the lifeguard and then nods. He raises Penelope in his arms, in the style of the newlyweds, and deposits her on their towel. She rolls her eyes. -Do you always has to show how strong and macho you are?- he laughs, frees his hair from the cap and with a quick gesture even those of his partner.
-You are fucking sexy, Pen.- he snarls, covering himself just in time with the towel.
-Mmm, you're okay, too.- she looks first at the man with the red shorts and then her own boyfriend. -Ok, definitely cool, but I don’t want you to flatter yourself, Newbie.- she understands instantly that she made an unforgivable mistake. -Luke!-

The latest collection by McCall’s is here, just in time for the start of fall sewing! To be honest, when I first scrolled through the McCall’s release page, I wasn’t overly excited, but I think there are a few patterns worth considering once you really examine the line drawings. Let’s take a look:
M7834 – My initial impression of this dress was “cute.” I particularly like the proportions on view B, the short sleeved top. However, in the interest of keeping my ever-growing pattern stash manageable, I have to question if I like the pattern better than the many shirt-dress patterns I already own, which, I think I do not. However, I do think this could be a cute fall look, and I think the fall florals are definitely a trend we will be seeing more of this season.
M7835 – McCall’s Create It! This is another dress pattern I find myself responding to positively, but will probably skip. I really like the darts and neckline options, but I think this is quite similar to McCall’s 7654, which has similar features but in a more restrained proportion.
M7833 – This knit dress and tunic pattern looks like a quick sew, and it could be rather cute. I find myself looking at the maxi as a quick, yet versatile garment that could be easily dressed up or down. I’m sure I’ve got similar patterns but I still want to put this on the maybe list.
M7832 – I get a slight vintage 60s vibe from this dress pattern. The 60s has never really been my favorite fashion decade, so perhaps that explains why I’m feeling a bit “meh” on this design.
M7848 – This coat, however, is definitely going on my wishlist. I’m a sucker for coat patterns, and while I don’t think there is anything especially innovative here, I find the collar options to be incredibly practical. Personally, I’m really wanting a coat with a hood, and I find the fur trimmed hood to be super cute. As a matter of preference, I’d move the side pockets to the front seam, but otherwise I think this pattern looks great. It looks especially good for a newer sewer – no buttonholes (tricky in thick fabrics), no vents, no tricky collars, no welt pockets… Yet is is still stylish while avoiding the “bordering on bathrobe” look. Definitely a winner in my book.
M7847 – This Learn to Sew pattern is a great way to showcase fur fabrics, but it could also be a good basic coat pattern in wool or other heavier fabrics. I like the proportions of the collar, it’s not too fiddly for fur, but it’s also not crazy large. It’s nice to see the Learn to Sew patterns branching out to slightly more complex garments as well.
M7846 – I’m not really interested in getting this poncho/cape pattern, but I do appreciate the collar options and design. I think this adds a level of interest that isn’t typical of the more ubiquitous square piece of fabric with a neckhole style poncho.
M7841 – I’m still not a fan of unisex patterns, BUT I do like the front patch pocket and hood options on this sweatshirt. Plus, it goes up to XXXL, which is actually kind of exciting because I have a few people I sew for who aren’t in the typical XS-XL size range.
M7839 – If you want a non-unisex cut, this sweater could be a nice alternative. From the line drawing I find the dropped sleeves to be a bit large, but I find myself really liking the fit on the model wearing view E. Clearly, I’m really into the idea of hoodies this fall.
M7840 – This voluminous shirt isn’t the sort of pattern I’m usually drawn to because it is just so voluminous. The model in the cream shirt is just drowning in fabric. However, the plaid shirt looks really cute! So, I’d say this could be a fun fall look in a very drapey fabric – something too stiff is just going to look like you are wearing a literal paper bag.
M7836 – This is another pattern where the line drawing isn’t doing it for me, but I really like the asymmetric one shoulder view on the model. I like asymmetry, and I like my shoulders, what can I say? The slit in view D looks really long, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about trying this pattern.
M7842 – I love this top from the back! But I’m not sure how I feel about it from the front. The overlapping fabric seems like a cool idea, but, in practice, it just looks sort of odd and bulky. Perhaps it would have a more interesting effect if it were color blocked?
M7838 – The 1860s called and they want their sleeves back.
M7837 – I’m so over the stick a ruffle everywhere trend. The giant laces on the side are quite the statement though.
M7831 – Learn to Sew. I feel like these sorts of overall jumpers have been super popular with the sewing community lately. It’s not really something I’m interested in, but, again, I like the amount of detail McCall’s has put in their “Learn to Sew” patterns – topstitching, patch pockets, overall hooks. If this is your style, there are lots of yummy details here.
M7845 – I think this skirt is cute, but definitely too mini for me as a matter of personal taste. The ruffle and lace details are super fun for the fall though.
M7844 – Learn to Sew. Or, rather, learn to pleat. So. Many. Pleats! It does look like a fun party skirt though.
M7843 – Learn to Sew pants and skirt. Elastic waists, while perhaps not the most sophisticated closure, are easy to sew and pretty comfortable. These cropped flared trousers are a pretty popular style at the moment as well.
M7851 – These fashion accessory bags have some nice details, though I’d personally try to figure out how to add an external pocket. They might be a nice introduction to bag making, or a fun project to learn how to use materials like leather.
M7830 – It’s nice that you get an entire outfit in a single pattern. The leggings and top are the sorts of things I assume kids like to wear, but you have to admit the pink fur vest is totally where it’s at with this pattern.
M7827 – This girl’s dress and bolero is pretty cute. I’d totally have been into the bare shoulders when I was in my Princess Jasmin phase.
M7829 – Learn to Sew. I feel like my mother would compare this to everything she had to wear growing up, though it is perhaps a bit modernized in its fabrication.
M7827 – Baby clothes. I’m assuming the wrap over top is quite practical for dressing a baby?
M7849 – The bunny is so cute! I really love the classic look of these stuffed toys.
M7852 – Ok, I wanted to get the Burda unicorn onesie, but is seems that it may not be available in the US (or, at least, I couldn’t find it in stores), so I guess I’ll have to settle for the McCall’s pattern. To be fair, this one does have patterns for unicorn wings. Also, I may or may not now be required to make a full My Little Pony set of onesies for New Years, because that’s totally a thing. At the very least, I’m totally going to hack this in half and make a unicorn hoodie, because that’s clearly a thing I need in my life. Clearly.
M7853 – I get very “Mary Poppins light” vibes off of this costume. I think this is going to be a pass for me – there isn’t enough detail here to make it exciting, and the proportions are just a bit too exaggerated for me to want to try to convert the jacket to regular clothing.
M7854 – This GoT inspired pattern is another matter entirely though. Is it severely lacking in detail when compared to the inspiration piece? Yes. Am I getting it anyway? Also yes.
M7855 – More GoT goodness. I really like the jacket pattern from this one.
M7856 – Probably the least exciting of the GoT inspired patterns, but it’s still going in the stash. As a side note, the coat pattern could totally be made for non-costume purposes, especially if the length was adjusted. The seam lines would be very flattering.
M7850 – And, finally, we have the doggie wedding pattern. Because why not. There are a lot of things I feel like I could say, but I’ll just leave this one open ended because I’m really more curious what people are going to say in the comments.
And that’s it! I feel like there are a lot of ok patterns in this release – nothing spectacular, but plenty of decent options. For me, at this point, it sort of has to be spectacular (or a ridiculous unicorn onesie, which, by definition, is sort of spectacular) for me to want to buy it because my stash is so full, and I’m not getting that with a lot of the patterns here. The zip front coat (M7848) is definitely going on the list, as are the costumes (because I’m weak), and the unicorn onesie (because I have been denied by Burda), but the majority of patterns are a pretty solid pass – not because they are bad, but because I feel like I already have similar patterns that I like better. What do you all think? Are you getting the Fall Feels from this collection? Or is it a total snoozefest that’s barely a blip on the pattern release radar? Feel free to discuss in the comments!
Fall 2018 McCall's Patterns #sewing #mccalls #mccallspatterns #fallsewing #newpatterns #fallpatterns The latest collection by McCall's is here, just in time for the start of fall sewing! To be honest, when I first scrolled through the McCall's release page, I wasn't overly excited, but I think there are a few patterns worth considering once you really examine the line drawings.

red carpet | t. holland
word count: 2056 warnings: nada :-) note: i just had this idea pop up and well i think its cute and i hope you think so too :> anywayy… again, im not much of a writer so pls pardon my writing :’)
—————————
You felt your heart beating out of your chest. Your palms started to sweat. This was it. The premiere that’s been eating you up this past week. You’re so nervous, your tongue’s tied already, you haven’t even spoken a single word ever since you left your hotel. Of course, you’ve done movies before. You’ve won and been nominated for numerous awards already, you’ve worked with Scorsese, Nolan, Spielberg—all of them admiring your raw and genuine talent. You were one of the top A-List Actresses in Hollywood.
But this… this was entirely different.
Yes, you knew this was a Marvel movie, Captain America: Civil War. Yes, you knew you only had a supporting role in this movie and that this shouldn’t be that much of a big deal to you. So why were you so conscious of what you were wearing? You usually spend an hour tops to prepare for a premiere, but this time you took ages to get ready.
You wanted to look good. You wanted to look your best without trying too hard.
Hmph. You’re not doing all that for the paparazzi, that’s for sure.
You stepped out of your limo and instantly, the bright flashes of cameras blind you, the screams of fans deafen you, the amount of big time movie stars you’ve worked alongside with numbed you. You composed yourself and took a breather, then started walking down the red carpet, with your white lace gown trailing behind you, as if you were royalty. You loved your dress a lot, you gotta hand it to your designer for the amazing design. It was a shame that you had to go alone though.
You wanted a certain someone to be your date, but you guess that someone didn’t see you that way.
You gracefully pause in front of the crowd to pose for some pictures. Later on, you went to the fans and signed some autographs and took selfies. Your once poised and elegant manner banished as soon as you started to have some fun making the most ridiculous faces for the pictures you were taking with your fans. You loved them. You wouldn’t be anywhere if it weren’t for them.
A few more minutes spending quality time with your beloved fans, you were ushered away to have a few interviews.
“Y/N!” The fifth interviewer of the night beamed, “How does it feel to be on a red carpet yet again?”
You laugh and smile, “It feels great. I love the energy these Marvel fans are giving out. It makes me wanna show up in my costume rather than this dress.”
“Well, won’t they appreciate that.” The interviewer replied, “Your dress is absolutely stunning, though! You look really, really, really pretty.”
You reply with a flattered smile, but before you could even verbally reply, someone cleared their throat behind you, disrupting the conversation.
“I think the proper term for her is gorgeous.”
You instantly felt your knees go weak as soon as you heard that heart-melting British accent.
“Tom Holland! What a great surprise!” The interviewer exclaimed as she saw the Brit behind you.
He hugged you from behind, his arms snaking around your waist, “Hey, love.” Tom winked at you quickly that the interviewer didn’t notice.
“Hey there, Spidey.” You casually punch his arm and pinch his cheek.
Right beside you right now was the reason you felt all those things beforehand. You couldn’t deny it any longer… Tom Holland made you nervous.
The interviewer once again spoke up, “Tom, how are you?”
“I’m good, thanks. It’s really fun to be here.” He flashed his signature smile.
“We were just discussing Y/N’s outfit for tonight. Any comments?” The interviewer wiggled her eyebrows.
You felt my your cheeks flush red again.
“I’m speechless actually. She looks so good that the words haven’t been invented yet.” His cheeky and adorable smile widened with every word that came out of his mouth, to which you blushed intensely at.
“Aww, that’s so sweet!” The interviewer giggled.
You laugh along with Tom and feel his hand rest on your shoulder.
“Okay, real topic guys. You two have been spotted out together so many times, your chemistry on-screen and off-screen is just off the charts, you’re always gushing about each other in interviews. So everyone on this planet wants to know…” The interviewer said, “Are you two seeing each other?”
You didn’t even think of what you were going to say, you just blurted it out… “We’re just really good friends.”
Mental facepalm.
You felt Tom’s chocolate brown eyes on you.
“I mean… uh…” You went off track as you tried to fix what you said.
You were at a loss for words. You didn’t really know how follow that up. It was true that you and Tom were friends. How can you not? You two instantly clicked right away from the moment you both met in the first script reading of the movie. You’ve always thought he was cute. It came to the point that that little innocent admiration for your co-star became… something more. There were so many times you wished you could just tell him how you felt, but you just keep chickening out. Scared. Fearing that he won’t feel the same way.
You loved the fact that Tom is always so open and comfortable around you. He’s always there for you when you need help in the most little things. If you need pads, he won’t hesitate to go the store and buy you pads—with wings. If you need someone to have a movie marathon with you, he’ll come over any time of the night with the complete collection of your favorite Disney movies. If you need someone to talk to, he’s there.
You can’t help yourself. You were falling for him, each time he smiles at you. The more you denied it, the feeling grew and grew until you can no longer ignore it. You’ve always wanted to see the things he does for you as acts of romantic and courtly love, but you know in your heart that he did those things because he sees you as a mere sister. It hurt a lot. You’re still wrapping your mind around that little heartbreaking thought.
So you came back to your reply. We’re just really good friends… Your own voice echoed through your head.
Really good friends.
Friends. You thought. That’s what Tom and I will be for the rest of our lives. Just. Friends.
What can you do, though? You’re young and stupid. Love only makes things worse for you.
“I think what Y/N meant was… we have a really strong bond. We wouldn’t want anything to interfere with that. We have our ups and downs. We may have our preferences and our differences, but I know this for sure…” He turned his head to glance at me, “We’re really good together.”
You felt butterflies flutter in your stomach after hearing his answer.
The interviewer smiled and closed up the interview, “Thank you, Tom! Thank you, Y/N!”
After bidding your goodbyes, Tom and you headed back out to the red carpet, posing for more pictures alongside each other. You were 4 or 5 feet away from him as the camera flashes come one after another. Again, you feel yourself drifting away. The blinding flashes, the deafening screams, the numbness… it all came back from the moment you no longer felt Tom’s presence within your reach.
Though, you still keep a plastered smile on your face. You don’t want anyone thinking there was something bothering you. It was easy to cover it up anyway. You were an actress after all.
“Hey, Y/N…” Tom’s voice surprised you, causing you to slightly wince at his touch when he put his hand on your back, “Are you alright? You seem flustered.”
“I’m fine. What are you talking about?” You lie.
Tom then furrowed his brows. Then without a word, he pulled you to the side.
“Y/N, do you honestly think I don’t know when you’re feeling a bit off?” He crossed his arms on his chest.
Of course.
Of course!
Of course, he could see right through you. He knows you more than you probably know yourself. It was silly thinking you could convince him otherwise.
“Tom, just drop it, okay? I’m fine…” You let it out with a bit of frustration.
He sighed. He already knew what this was about.
“Y/N…” He took a step closer to you, making your heart race a thousand times faster, as if the beat earlier wasn’t fast enough, “Just so you know… I think you look beyond beautiful tonight.”
You look up at him, red bloomed on your face. You tried to hide it, but you realized it was pointless.
“You don’t look bad yourself, Holland.” You replied with a small and shy smile.
He chuckled softly and took your hand in his, “I meant to tell you this a week ago but I just kept on letting fear come first. I was scared.” He held his head down in embarrassment, “But I’m tired of running away from this. I’m done.” He looked into your eyes and you saw how nervous he was. It was even making you nervous as well. You were both trying to gather all the courage you can suck up.
“Now, let me try this again—for real this time.” Tom laughed half-heartedly, “Forgive me if I sound a bit too cheesy, but Y/N Y/L/N, from the very moment I laid my eyes on you, I knew I found the girl who would finally make me fall down to my knees just thinking about her smile, her eyes, her laugh, her cute rosy cheeks… Y/N, you’ve bewitched me. You make me feel the tingly feeling in my stomach every time I’m around you, and it’s bloody annoying. Look, what I’m trying to say here, without sounding like a complete fool, is that I have strong feelings for you, Y/N. I.. I like you. I really like you.”
You widened your eyes and almost choked on thin air, “Are you… are you serious?”
He chuckled, his dimples showing and his eyes looking cute as ever, “I confess my feelings in the monologue I’ve been practicing for weeks, and that’s the response I get?”
You laugh and blush furiously, “Tom, I… I’ve been waiting for you to say that for the longest time.” You wasted no time and engulfed him in a hug, your chin resting on his shoulder.
“Does this mean you like me too?” He wondered like an innocent puppy.
You reply with a giggle, “Yes, you moron. I feel the same way.”
His smile reached up to his eyes when he heard you say that. He was so happy. So were you. You looped your arm into his as you both walked back onto the red carpet, posing for more pictures, but this time, it was different.
People started to screaming louder as soon as they saw Tom’s hand intertwine with yours and your arm hug his waist. You two were smiling so wide, knowing that you were with the one person you’ve been wanting to be with ever since. You still can’t believe you arrived to this premiere empty handed, nervous and worried. The camera flashes once again, came one after another. The screams of the fans, louder and louder. You noticed the rest of the cast including Chris Evans and RDJ on the side, wolf whistling and applauding.
Damn, did everyone want you two together?
When things seemed they couldn’t get any better, Tom swiftly pulled you closer to him. Before you could question his sudden actions, he cupped your cheek, leaned in and gave you a sweet kiss on the lips.
“I’ve been waiting to do that for the longest time too.” He cheekily smiled as he caressed your cheek with his thumb.
You laughed and he laughed. Not minding the blood curdling fangirl and fanboy screams the fans were yelling out. You could only imagine the amount of tweets and tumblr posts you’ll be tagged in later on.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Doctor Who (2005) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler Characters: Tenth Doctor, Rose Tyler Additional Tags: Bikini - Freeform, Swimming, jaaaaaaack, embarassed ten Series: Part 3 of Whoville's Follower Milestone Celebration Summary:
The Doctor promises Rose a visit to the best beach in the universe. But then he sees her in a brilliant bikini.
Written for @goingtothetardis who won my follower milestone celebration ficlet for Ten x Rose canon ficlet. Prompt: Ten sees Rose in a bathing suit for the first time since he regenerated.
Rose bit her thumb. Trying to decide was proving harder than it ever should be.
“That’s what I get for owning twenty swimsuits. Who even has twenty swimsuits? This is ridiculous.”
She pawed through the pile of mismatched tops, bottoms, and one-piece water-wear.
She picked up a one-piece red suit and then tossed it aside remembering that the wrap-style top part was too big and gaped open.
Then the two-piece green tankini - an unfortunate neon phase when she was seventeen.
She picked up a very flattering white bikini - Shireen had convinced her to buy it. The minute she’d jumped into the public pool, she’d heard catcalls. It had gone see-thru. She hadn’t spoken to Shireen for a week. “I didn’t pack this? Why’s this one here?” She heard the TARDIS giggle.
The one-piece black halter had strings that went around her neck. But it had bad habit of coming untied, usually after diving into the pool. Great for tanning, terrible for having fun in the water.
Another black one — a bikini. The bottoms were a wee bit too close to thong territory.
And yet another black one - for exercise. And it felt like a compression suit.
A red bikini. She smiled wickedly and put it in the maybe pile. “Gotta love Miracle Bra.”
A metallic gold bikini — Mickey had bought it after marathoning Star Wars for the umpteenth time. (She crinkled her nose) and tossed it aside.
Pink bikini with a ruffled skirt. “What was I thinking? Am I eight?”
Pink one-piece with teeny white dots — cute pattern, but the leg holes were too low and made her feel like a granny.
White. Not see-thru. Strange smashed mono-boob thing.
She held up a navy blue one-piece. Too small.
She glanced at a sky-blue bikini. “Too much side-boob.”
“And this one is just ugly. Oh yeah, it was on the 85% discount rack at Henrik’s. Does it even fit anymore?” She held it up. “Yeah, it fits. Ugh. I hate throwing out stuff that fits.”
She picked up the red maybe suit and examined it again. “He does seem to like red. He’s always staring at my mouth when I wear that red lipstick. And the red jacket on Satellite Five — I got some good looks up and down in that outfit. But that was then. What about now? I don’t even know what his favorite color is now! Although I could guess it’s brown. I like the brown. I really like the brown. Do I have a brown one? No, I don’t look good in brown. Why would I ever wear a brown bathing suit?” Rose groaned, and fell face-forward into her fluffy comforter.
She lifted her head, and then she saw a suit that she didn’t recognize. It was hanging on the doorknob.
Rose crinkled her forehead as she pulled it off of the shiny silver handle. She held up the top by the bra straps.
“Ooh La La. Never heard of that brand. Cute name. Right size, too.”
There was nothing special about the design of the suit. No embellishments. Just a classic bikini. The color was nice and cheerful. She quickly stripped off her clothing and put it on, and then went into the bathroom to take a look.
She tugged the top, adjusting it so that it covered the parts that needed covering, but showed off the parts that she wanted to show off.
The bottoms fit well and didn’t need to any adjustment.
Rose turned this way and that, looking at her reflection. She smiled. “This makes my bum look good.” With a bite of the lip she tugged the straps, enhancing the push-up effect just slightly. Not too skimpy, not too plain. Just the right bit of oomph.
“And… we have a winner.” She let out a little hooray and quickly gathered the rest of her things and headed out to the console room.
oOo
“Time’s a ticking, Rose Tyler. Chop chop. I promise, you don’t want to miss— the… uh…”
“I’m ready. Let’s go. I can hardly wait to jump into the water.”
The Doctor stood statue-still, feet glued to the grating.
“Something wrong? Do I have spinach in my teeth?”
He tugged his ear. He clasped his hands behind his back. He shoved one hand into a coat pocket, and then the other into the pocket of his trousers, striking an awkward, uneven pose.
“Something must be wrong to got you so tongue-tied. So go on, spit it out.”
“That’s the swimsuit you’re wearing?”
She rolled her eyes. “No, it’s my ballgown. My bikini’s in my bag.”
He blew air through is lips. “Right. Of course. Ha! Your bathing costume. Cossie. Your swim togs. Togs. Toggies. Cozzy. Bathing suit. Definitely not a ballgown. Definitely. Nope. You are a very funny human, Rose Tyler. Very, very funny. And I’ve met some humans who, and I promise you, are very very veeeery funny.” The Doctor gritted a smile. “You know who’s funny? Lucille Ball. Lovely woman. And ginger.” He sighed.
“What are you nattering on about?” she laughed, looping her arm through the acrylic hoops of her pink mesh beach bag.
“Well,” he tugged on his ear, “it’s, you know…” He waved his finger around. “Flattering.”
She smiled slyly. “That’s sorta the point, isn’t it?”
“I think you should change. Might be too… flattering for where we’re going.”
“You said this place was uninhabited. Do the birds have hangups about skin?” she joked.
He cringed.
“I’m not changing, Doctor.”
“The Victorians wore black bathing costumes over big ol’ billowing black bloomers. Ha! Awfully awesome alliteration. Ha HA! I did it again! You’da thought the undertow would have claimed more lives. I never knew how—“
“We aren’t going swimming with Queen Victoria, are we?”
“No! No. Definitely not. She’d would’ve had our heads. Or drawn and quartered. Very unpleasant. Or will take our heads. Or could. She thought you were naked before…” he trailed off.
“So then, what’s the problem, Doctor. You’re turning all red.”
Rose took a step forward.
The Doctor took a step back.
“Oh come off it. You’ve seen me in a million bikinis. What’s wrong with this one? Don’t you like yellow?”
“Yellow is absolutely brilliant. Completely and absolutely outstandingly perfect.”
“I’m going out there. You coming? Or are you just gonna stand there with your gob going nonstop?”
Rose brushed passed the Doctor and pushed the door open, illuminating the TARDIS with cheerful sunlight and the smell of salt air.
The Doctor put on his sunglasses, and slowly dragged his coat from its standard storage spot.
“Maybe it’s not the one. I did throw it away.”
He could swear he heard the TARDIS laugh.
oOo
Rose looked out towards the horizon. Small islands dotted the azure water. The beach was deserted, save the occasional sea bird flying overhead.
“So no people on this planet?”
“Nope.”
“Any dangerous animals?”
“Nope.”
“You coming? I want to get in.”
“Nope.”
“Isn’t it safe? Giant sharks with poisonous fangs? Enormous stinging jellyfish?”
“Nope.”
“Why’d we come then? You told me this was the most beautiful beach in the universe.”
The Doctor swallowed hard.
“Doctor…?” Rose crossed her arms. “What’s going on?”
“Uh… Rose, where’d you get that uh… garment you’re wearing?”
“Garment?” She snorted. “It’s a bikini. Since when did you become such a prude?”
He dragged his hands down his face. “Just answer the question.”
“It was hanging on my doorknob. I don’t know where it came from. The TARDIS must’ve put it there.” She frowned. “Why? Is it poisoned or something? Alien tech that shoots darts out of the bikini top?”
The Doctor blushed fiercely.
“You are so easy to wind up! Come on, tell me! What’s the problem?”
He opened and closed his mouth a few times.
A slow, lopsided grin appeared. “You know what, Doctor? I think you like it. You’ve been looking.” She bit her lower lip. “New New Doctor.” Rose swung her hips as she approached him.
He squeaked.
She was now a hair-breadths away.
“You did say it was flattering.”
“Yes. Very.” He nodded, eyes closed.
Rose laughed and shook her head. “Whatever. Race you to the water!”
She took off, sprinting over the sand.
“Rose!” he bellowed. “Stop! Don’t go in the water!”
“No way!” she called over her shoulder. “You brought me swimming, so I’m gonna swim.”
The Doctor dropped onto his bum, and buried his face in his hands.
He heard her squeal as she dove into the cool, but refreshing surf.
But then she screamed.
And she screamed again. Louder.
“I’m so sorry!” he yelled hiding his eyes.
“Why didn’t you tell me?!” she screeched. “You put this thing in my room, didn’t you? Thought you’d play a joke?”
The Doctor pulled his lanky frame off of the sand and slowly walked backwards to the edge of the water.
“It wasn’t me, Rose. I promise. I thought the thing was gone.”
But then he heard laughing.
And then he heard sloshing.
Louder and louder. Closer and closer.
He ran up the beach, and again walked backwards, this time carrying his long, brown, full-coverage coat.
“Here. Put this on.” He held it out to her behind his back.
“Nope.” Splash, splash.
“It wasn’t my fault. Do you believe me?”
“Nope.” Splash, splash, splash, splash.
“It was Jack!” he exclaimed. “He bought it! Thought it’d be funny. You know his sense of humour. I put it in the rubbish bin. Thought the TARDIS incinerated it.”
“Apparently not,” she purred.
“Come on Rose, take the coat,” he begged.
“Nope.”
She was right behind him now. He could feel her breath on his neck. And he could feel her skin on his back. Her wet, uncovered, soft, and very bare skin.
And then Rose took the coat and slipped it on.
“You can turn around now,” she purred.
“You know what I think?”
“Nope.”
“I think you wanted me to wear the bikini. You didn’t tell me about it, because you knew what was gonna happen and wanted it to happen.”
“Nope.”
“But you did know what would happen?”
He was quiet. “Yep.”
“I am a bit disappointed, though.”
The Doctor turned around.
“Why?”
“Best bikini I’ve ever had. And now it’s gone. Dissolved straight away.” She raised an eyebrow. “So, did Jack buy you a pair of swim trunks?”

Temple of Geek Chic Review
Looking for a reason to hit the beach and stretch out the last days of summer? SixOn Clothing provides the perfect excuse with its collection of striking, yet subtle video game-themed swimwear. If you happen to be a cosplayer, you’ll have even more reason to snag some gorgeous, geeky swimwear before the winter chill sets in.
Mina Kess and Aaron Rivin in SixOn Clothing swimwear.
Founded by seamstress and designer Nancy Lam, SixOn Clothing is a California-based, gamer culture-driven brand. Its mission is “to bring nerdy everyday fashion to fans” and help them “become their favorite characters in real life.”
Lam got her start in college, designing punk and goth-style clothing, before moving on to cosplay commissions. She started designing cosplay hoodies and branched out into other types of cosplay fashion.
She draws inspiration for her original designs from anime characters and video games, including Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Overwatch, and TV series The Orville. Along with its swimwear collection, SixOn’s website offers tops, dresses, outerwear, shirts, accessories, jewelry, and other merchandise.
Recently, Temple of Geek Chic enlisted two of our favorite cosplayers, Mina Kess and Aaron Rivin, for a safe, social-distanced photoshoot featuring SixOn’s Kingdom Hearts-inspired swimsuits.
SixOn Aqua Bikini Swimsuit Cosplay
This pretty two-piece bikini is modeled after an outfit worn by Keyblade wielder Aqua. The design is fun and flattering with a unique color combination of pink, navy, and black. Small references to Aqua’s costume are what really make the suit, including the white, ruched sash at the waist and flirty corset-style ties at the sides.
We styled the bikini top’s straps like a traditional halter, but they can also be crisscrossed in front and tied around the neck to more closely re-create Aqua’s look.
The suit could easily be worn as part of a cosplay or for a day at the beach with non-geek friends, who will never know you’re wearing your favorite fandom.
Practically speaking, this suit is a dream. Made of nylon and spandex, it’s got a comfortable stretch. The top provides ample support. An adjustable elastic band at the back allows flexibility for different body types. Mina modeled a size small.
Shion One-Piece Swimsuit Cosplay
If you’re more of a one-piece person, SixOn’s tribute to original Organization XIII member Xion offers a geeky twist on the basic black swimsuit. With fun pops of purple and cute details, like button accents at the bust, a metal belt buckle, and white ruffles along the bottom, this suit is modeled after Xion’s outfit from Kingdom Hearts III. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, you might mistake it for a sophisticated piece of designer swimwear.
Like the Aqua bikini, this piece is insanely flattering with a halter tie, a ruched tummy panel, lots of stretch, and structural support that should make for a good fit across the sizing spectrum. Mina modeled a small.
What we love about them: Mina was most impressed by the quality of this pair of suits, which she described as “absolutely incredible.”
“They fit really well and have a bit of stretch to them, so they’re comfortable and flattering,” she said. “The design and detail are beautiful and such a good reflection of the characters’ costumes that they’re inspired by. These have clearly been made with love — by fans and for fans.
SixOn Keyblade Master Swimsuit Cosplay Shorts
Based on another design from Kingdom Hearts III, these swim trunks pay homage to Riku. Maybe it’s the bright, yellow sports stripes on the front or the plaid bottoms that make this design feel one-of-a-kind.
The shorts are loose-fitting with an elastic waistband and string tie, allowing for comfort and versatility. They could go straight from the Con to the beach or a basketball game. The handy Velcro pockets will come in handy for storing geeky gear.
Aaron modeled a large.
What we love about it: “It’s not easy to find geeky-inspired fashion pieces that subtly balance their geekery with fashion, but these really feel like they do,” Aaron said.
“People who know Kingdom Hearts will appreciate it immediately, while those who don’t wouldn’t look twice — my favorite type of fan merch!
Aaron also admired the fit and feel of the trunks. “They’re soft and incredibly well made, and probably the most comfortable bathing suit I’ve owned,” he said.
“I’m glad we’ve still got summer weather going here in L.A., so I can get some more use out of these this year.”
Overall:
With original designs that evoke iconic video game characters without being too obvious, SixOn might be our new favorite swimwear brand. These sharp-looking suits make it easy to cosplay at the pool, but even if you’re not a fan of Kingdom Hearts, you’ll probably still want to wear them.
We adore all the little details that make these pieces feel special. We were also blown away by the quality and attractive fit of the suits, which should last long enough to be part of your wardrobe for many summers.
Best of all, this swimwear is affordably priced. You won’t pay any more for them than you would for a decent suit from a retail clothing store. In addition to the suits we reviewed, SixOn offers at least six other swimwear designs and sizes up to 2XL.
You’ll also find lots of other cool apparel and merch to help you level up your style in the brand’s Kingdom Hearts collection. Check out all the brand’s offerings at sixonclothing.com.

Newborn Girl Outfits-27 Cutest Clothes For New Born Baby Girl Outfit Trends - Ideas How to Wear & What to Wear
New Post has been published on https://www.outfittrends.com/newborn-girl-outfits/
Newborn Girl Outfits-27 Cutest Clothes For New Born Baby Girl
Newborn girl outfits. The birth of a female baby is such a momentous and joyous occasion. Expectant mothers often dream about what their offspring will look like and how they want them to dress. It’s often difficult to stop yourself from buying clothing and baby products well before the baby arrives.
A new baby is about new life, fresh starts, dreams, happiness and the future. It puts everyone in a good mood. People especially go crazy buying clothes for newborn princesses. Once you give birth to your daughter, you will rarely be buying anything for yourself anymore. Everything looks so much more irresistible and swoon-worthy in miniature sizes.
What Outfits To Buy For Newborn Baby Girls?
Here are 27 of my absolutely all-time favourite items that I couldn’t live without for my own daughter from birth through her first birthday:
↓ 28 – Newborn Girl Coming Home Outfits
Your new addition will never make a fashion faux pa wearing anything pink from Ralph Lauren home from the hospital as you start your new life as a family of three (or more) Ralph Lauren is classic, timeless and looks good on everyone, infants included. It’s also always a great idea to go for matching outfits, so here are 100 Cutest Matching Mother Daughter Outfits on Internet So Far.
↓ 27 – SwaddleMe
I am a huge fan of Mexican food, but as much as I enjoy burritos, I have never gotten good at wrapping them up. Swaddleme swaddles are seriously the BEST swaddles ever! The secure design creates a cosy, womb-like feeling for baby and prevents startle reflex that can wake your infant. The soft fabric wings fasten and readjust securely with hook and loop attachments to create a perfect fit. Swaddleme makes swaddling foul-proof, even for those with three thumbs. You can literally pass off the baby as being wrapped as snuggly, smoothly and competently as when the expert nurses did it for you in the hospital.
↓ 26 – Miracle Blanket
Beloved by hundreds of thousands of families, Miracle Blanket is “one of the most beloved, time-tested and effective swaddling blankets on the market today.” There is no Velcro, which makes annoying sounds and won’t get disgusting in the laundry. In addition, one size fits all (up to 14 weeks so you can continue to swaddle, along with the Moses basket for 3 months or the “fourth trimester”) so there’s no need to keep having to buy new ones as your baby grows. If baby’s feet do not reach the bottom of the foot pouch, simply fold the bottom up so the feet touch the bottom of the blanket. The other feature which sets Miracle Blanket apart from its competitors is that there are arm flaps. Getting a good night sleep with a baby is truly a miracle. Thanks, Miracle Blanket for “the gift of sleep.” Night, night and sweet dreams. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
↓ 25 – Monthly Stickers
Monthly onesie stickers are such a fun way to record your newborn’s growth throughout the year. The choices, colors and patterns are endless. They are lots of fun and make it easy to identify just how old your child was in years to come when you look at an old photo which is dated.
↓ 24 – Baby’s First Designer Clothes
A total splurge, but every female, regardless of age, knows the importance of a killer pair of of designer jeans! Baby can even match Mommy, Daddy and any big brothers and/or sisters. And no, we promise that your diaper does not make your butt look fat. Pair with a onesie or pretty shirt.
↓ 23 – Ten Fingers….
Baby mitts are for keeping those sweet little hands from scratching their innocent and delicate face and to keep those sweet little hands warm in the cooler weather. In addition, many moms have reported, “It helped protect my babies hands from the well-intentioned women and small children that wanted to “ooh” and “aww” over my newest treasure.” We all know how little babies’ hands are and how tempting they are to touch.
↓ 22 – & Ten Toes: Sweetest Socks
Baby feet are so precious and perfect. When you have to cover them up, put them in Trumpette socks. There is nothing as adorable on the market, plus they provide an extra bonus of staying on better than most other baby socks.
↓ 21 – Ruffles
Little girls are obsessed with pink, glitter and ruffles. The sooner you get used to it the better. (If you look closely, you’ll notice she’s also got her Trumpette ballet flat socks on. No shoes necessary.)
↓ 20 – Anything Personalized
Adding the baby’s name, date of birth, measurements and/or other important stats, makes the ordinary baby item extraordinary. My daughter, Greenlee, has a unique name and therefore will never be able to buy items off-the-rack at the store with her name on it. (I experienced the same thing growing up). Our family was so excited to receive this feminine gingham hooded towel from Pottery Barn Baby with Greenlee’s name embroidered on it in pastel pink. Bath time is such a special bonding time between baby and parents. So many memories are made during this intimate chore and so many bathtub photos are taken to document for prosperity. In addition to the bath towel, you are going to want crib blankets and blankets for the stroller with your child’s name or initials.
↓ 19 – Personalized Leggings
What little girl doesn’t want their name written all over in a fun font (plenty of colours and styles to choose from) in a super comfy pair of leggings! I Know My Alphabet (an Etsy vendor) has become my new favourite go-to gift to get when a baby girl is born. It’s especially wonderful for a child who has older siblings because it becomes extremely obvious then that she is not stuck wearing her big brother or sister’s hand-me-downs. There is no denying these clothes were purchased especially for her and no one else.
↓ 18 – Cute & Funny Outfits
When you have kids close in age, it’s lots labelling the little/baby sister. Other kids in the family can wearing matching “Big Brother” or “Middle Sister” shirts.
↓ 17 – NewBorn Winter Clothing
An adorable snowsuit is a necessity for winter babies. When you bundle your bundle of joy up, make sure she’s comfy, cozy and wearing something warm enough to protect her from the cold, windy or wet climate.
↓ 16 – Ski Bunny Vest
For those less cold days, vests make wonderful layering pieces. They make strong statements and are versatile for all seasons except for the heat of the summer. Neutrals, pops of colour or patterned are all different options. Don’t necessarily buy a pricey vest as its more a novel accessory than a garment that your child will wear on a daily basis.
↓ 15 – Lounge Around in Sweats
Just as you’re most comfortable lounging around in sweats, babies want to look and feel like they’re most comfortable at all times. The littlest thing can set them off. Sweat suits aren’t fussy even when your baby is.
↓ 14 – Hats Off to the Baby
As soon as you announce your pregnancy, identify someone close to your family who knits or crochets and put in your request for baby hats and blankets. There is nothing like a custom made clothing and accessories to make your precious little one stand out in the crowd.
↓ 13 – Bands
And if you’re not too fond of hats, you can always opt for baby headbands because they look too adorable.
↓ 12 – Bathing Beauty
Every girl needs a flattering swimsuit or two for pool and beach days. Seek swimwear with high UV protection to protect delicate skin. Light colours are preferred as they will keep your child cooler in the hot sun while darker shades tend to attract and hold the heat. Lather on infant sunscreen to protect baby’s delicate and fragile skin. A floppy hat should also be worn.
↓ 11 – Where To Shop
What has grown into the “It” shoe for tiny feet was first created out of leather scraps on a kitchen table in 2009, after Freshly Picked founder Susan Petersen gave up on finding a baby shoe that was cute and stayed put. Known for thoughtful attention to detail, the brand’s moccasins and shoes have become big favourites in Hollywood and around the world. They also offer high-quality leather crib moccasins, soft sole shoes and diaper bags.
↓ 10 – Baby Shoes
Completely impractical, but oh so irresistible. While baby Uggs will never hit the floor, all eyes will remain glued on them (especially Mommy who will have to monitor that one hasn’t been lost).
↓ 9 – Halloween Costume for Non-Walkers
My daughter received lots of attention, tons of compliments and the best reactions to being a mermaid for Halloween. Everyone comments on her fin and is curious to know if I had made the costume. I must give credit to Laura Trot of Laura’s Inspiration who has an adorable array of hand-made crocheted baby photo props, along with booties and hats. It’s a great outfit for newborn photos. The mermaid costume was so unique and original that it scored first place in a Halloween costume contest! Here are Top 17 Halloween Costumes for Kids.
↓ 8 – Thanksgiving Outfit
The turkey is going to take second fiddle to your baby’ first Thanksgiving. Dress your ham up in something Thanksgiving worthy. Consider sticky to browns and oranges.
↓ 7 – Some Fancy Outfits
When your baby isn’t wearing a onesie or stretchies, and you’re taking her out and about, you’re going to want her to look like her most beautiful and feminine self. When she’s wearing a dress, no one will confuse her for being a boy. (She can be decked out in pink with a bow headband and still people will comment on what a cute boy he is). Dresses that come with matching bloomers/panties to cover the diaper are an added treat.
↓ 6 – A Classic Wrap Dress
Every lady needs a classic wrap dress. One season, Diane Von Furstenberg teamed up with Gap for a special line. If only the DVF dress could have grown with my daughter.
↓ 5 – Night Suits
Be prepared for your daughter to have more outfit changes than Beyoncé. You can never have enough stretchies on hand. Your baby will spend the majority of her time in stretchies, especially when she’s home. Pick prints and colours that make you happy and designs that are easy (and quick) to get on your ever-moving child.
↓ 4 – Bibs
No matter how many bibs you stock up on, you will always need at least a dozen more. Bibs are necessary for spit-up, protecting clothes when eating solids, wiping drool, the list goes on and on…..Pick some up whenever you see one that catches your eye and is a reflection of your style. Velcro fastening bibs are quick to put on/take off are the best design.
↓ 3 – A First Birthday Outfit
Remember your daughter will definitely need a beautiful little frock to celebrate her first birthday in style, because she can’t go out in her birthday suit! This will be the first of a lifetime of birthday celebrations blowing out candles and eating cake. You can also get some awesome ideas from these 17 Cute 1st Birthday Outfits for Baby Girl All Seasons.
And if you’re looking for something other than clothes to gift to anewbornn princess, then here are two of our highly recommended suggestions:
↓ 2 – Baby Rockers
The Tiny Love 3-in-1 Rocker Napper, an innovative rocker and napper that features a one hand switch from sit to sleep. At approximately two months old, she’ll be at the stage of being bored lying flat on her back day and night. She’ll begin to take notice of objects dangling within her reach. Once the batteries are inserted, it will massage baby, plays 3 different songs, give the baby a light show and offers volume control. The mobile does not move.
The design is extremely pleasing to parents that don’t want baby products that are huge eyesores to their home’s design. Unlike baby swing and many products out on the market, there’s no babyish animal pattern. The middle reclining position post-bottle is an ideal position to help her digest more easily.
↓ 1 – Books
It’s never too early to encourage your baby’s love of books and learning. Your little fashionista-in-training’s new library picks should include: The Birdie Series by Sujean Rim
(The author was the illustrator of the popular Daily Candy website. Jessica Simpson needs to get these books for her baby who will be named Birdie.)
