hay, this is more me looking for advice, but how do i stop lying to my followers about being proship? there was one point where i drew fontcest (undretale), and i got an anti who harassed me in ask, and sent me a graphic description of their brother killing their hamster. ever since i've been very weary of saying anything, or confirming i ship something cuz i don't want to read something like that again. that, and in general, i don't ship things too hard/go all in with it, at least 1/?

2/? i don't think i do. granted, i draw a bunch of art and post it, but for me that's just general hyperfixation. i'm also ace, and while yes, most ships are romantic or sexual, mine tend to be platonic, or suggestive. and are not as clear cut as to if i ship the characters or not, because even for me, it's up in the air, and i don't know, i'm not good with knowing how i feel about things, i just express myself through art and hope it says all it needs to. i've come up with a sorta tagging

3/4 tagging system, with tags for platonic ships, joke ships, etc, but even then sometimes how i view the relationship changes. like right now, i'm drawing a child and adult character together, most of the time the dynamic i portray is paternal, but other times i want to make it romantic, either as a cope for my own truama, or just because it's been my brain rot for weeks and i want it out of my head to get back to the "clean stuff" and just not post for a while. idk, maybe this is

4/? is all overly complicated, and i've made a mess for myself, but i feel like at this point i've tricked ppl into following or liking my work. because ppl do like my work, and then they send ask like "your art's now tainted for me", but i've been this way since 2016, i've just been scared of getting disturbing irl hamster gore stories again. or i've been told "fuck you for normalizing this", "don't hc this character as a murder pedo", "this feels like grooming", "you know your audience"

Hello, I delayed answering this for a while since, well, i'm definitely not usually the person people go to for advice so im not used to it lol ❤ /nm

Buuut i mean... I can see why youre upset. I dont think you should have to come out and say you're proship. Being an anti shouldn't be seen as the default. You should also be able to make whatever kind of content you want as long as you tag it properly. If your fanbase is making you feel like you can't, then that fanbase isn't your demographic.

There are actually a lot of decent people out here who are pro ship, and if you choose to be openly pro ship, yes you will get some hate mail, death threats, suibait etc and lose followers, but you will also gain a lot of fans who want to see your interesting takes on different interpersonal dynamics. (Also, the former group weren't really your fans in the first place if they'll be so godawful to you over some pixels on a screen)

And yes it is impossible to police thousands of followers and that quite literally is not supposed to be up to you. Minors on the internet are supposed to be monitored by their guardians. If you put a disclaimer/tag for your content and some dumbass clicks it anyway and doesn't like what they see, that's their fault not yours.

I've also noticed that the majority of people who are pro ship are prone to actually filtering content they don't like, while antis seem entitled and want the creator to do it for them. Its just a better fanbase experience all around in my experience.

As someone who helps run multiple pro ship accs, i understand the visibility can be scary. But I promise at the end of the day you'll feel a lot better for it. Hope this is at least semi-helpful/reassuring idk ❤

And that’s...the show.

What a clever way to get Lake off the train. On multiple levels! Not only was it clever in-character, but her escape came from her accepting her nature at long last--which was what would have brought her own number down to zero. That’s such an excellent way to end her journey--truly, she was the same as a passenger the whole time.

That was a good finale. Not the action-packed ending that season 1 got, but it didn’t need to be, really. It was different from Tulip’s journey in ways where a bigger action sequence than what we got wouldn’t have been appropriate. In fact, the fight with Sieve feels kind of like an afterthought--it wasn’t obviously, it tied off an important loose end and gave Alan Dracula something to do in the final two episodes, but it didn’t really feel like a proper focus of the episode.

Showing off One-One’s weird blue-and-orange morality system was really cool. Watching him actually get trapped in logic loops was fascinating, and I think he was used VERY well here.

Alan Dracula was a fun sideshow character, but often felt like he was just there for the animators and writers to play around with, rather than an essential part of the team like Atticus and One-One were in season 1.

Jesse was a good deuteragonist! Shut up, Tumblr spellcheck, that’s a word. Jesse’s journey was simple--come to terms with the fact that he and his friends were bullies, and it was very deftly done. The fact that the train reorders its cars and constructs them for individual passengers’ journeys makes it interesting that his final obstacle was confronting the Apex--the train even works other passengers into its plans. Which, ironically, makes the Apex more denizen than passenger. Anyways, Jesse’s journey was simple and well-handled, which is good because he wasn’t actually who the story was about.

That would be Lake. Mirror Tulip. Horseradish, as I’ve been tagging her since season 1. The Chrome Car was my second-favorite episode of season 1, due to excellent character drama, excellent horror, and excellent writing all around. I remember wishing very much that Lake had joined Tulip on her journey--clearly, the people writing the show wanted to keep telling her story, too, because we got a whole season of it. Lake’s journey of self-discovery and self-actualization was a really fascinating one. Watching her slowly come out of her prickly shell until she was finally ready to accept herself for who she was was an excellent journey. I really do think it’s SUCH good writing that she basically got her own number down to zero right when she got One-One to let her off the train.

Mace and Sieve turned out to be excellent villains, as well--Mace more than Sieve, really, but Mace got more focus and had more presence, and rightfully so. My favorite episode of the season focuses on him and Tulip, after all. What an excellent bastard.

All in all, a good season, but not quite as strong as the first one. That’s not a low bar to fail, though. Excellent work all around, and I’m delighted with the ending.

The final episode just wasn’t as strong an ending as season one’s though, and wasn’t the best episode in season 2 by a couple places. The Tape Car was creepier and focused on horror, which I liked a lot, and The Wasteland was just fantastic. It also has to compete with some VERY strong episodes in season 1--which, again, is not a low bar to fail. All in all, I’d place The Number Car at my new #3 for season 2, between The Lucky Cat Car (which was very funny, but didn’t have the emotional or dramatic stuff The Number Car did) and The Tape Car (which I’ve already covered), as well as my new #7 overall, between The Lucky Cat Car and The Cat’s Car, which did drama and horror VERY well.

That’s it for Infinity Train, at least until we maybe get a third season! In a couple days, I’m going to make a post on my Patreon asking for show suggestions for what to replace Infinity Train with in the main slots, and then we’ll have the poll to replace it a few days after that. I’ll keep you posted as to what the results of that are! In the meantime, up next is going to be this month’s Patron Picks--as usual, I’ll be doing Paranoia Agent, Baccano, and then A Place Further Than the Universe. After that, we’ll be getting back to She-Ra for a solid while--I’ll be starting Season 2, so stay tuned for that!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOTHER!

Seriously, what are the odds of Mother’s 30th anniversary falling on the year of the pig? And Porky is mysteriously absent from Smash Ultimate. Maybe there really aren’t any coincidences. All these signs makes it a perfect time for Nintendo to do absolutely nothing. Well, I guess a spirits board event isnt ‘nothing’, per say.

So, I’m just gonna ramble about my feelings about this franchise and my journey with it. So, like I assume many of you my age, hadn't heard of an ‘Earthbound’ prior to playing Melee back in the early 2000′s. Ness wasn't a character I remember playing a lot of, but I did like his taunts (OK!) and Fourside was one of my favorite stages. Then Brawl came around and we got the shy boy named Lucas and a big ass stage. Oh, and some music. That was nice, but I was more excited for Sonic The Hedgehog being in a smash bros game.

I didn’t get interested in the franchise until around 2012/2013(maybe) that I found myself browsing on Youtube and by chance I ended up on a video called “Earthbound, The Dark Side of Mother” by Game Theory. inb4 GAME THEORY?! REEEEEEEEEEE

I was completely blown away by the video, and it remains one of my favorite GT videos. I got me interested in playing the game for myself and seeing what I missed out on.

So I downloaded a ROM, booted up my emulator and had a blast! I fell in love with the game’s sense of humor, the combat system, the music and the sprites, as well as the underlying unnerving atmosphere of it all. Walking through Onett and hearing that music for the first time was oddly nostalgic and it reminded me of where I used to live when I was 6 with my Mom. It reminded me of when you play pretend with your friends and travel to distant lands and fight strange creatures and use common household items and pretend they were swords or axes. And sure, I got stuck on some spots, like the maze with those moles who all think they’re the strongest, but it was an otherwise pleasant ride!

Next up on the list was Mother 1, or Earthbound Beginnings, which I started playing in the Summer of 2014. Finding a translation for the NES rom I had sucked, and I had heard that there was a better one for the Mother 1+2 GBA game that we also never got, so I played a translated version of that Mother 1. It came with an item at the beginning of the game that made things easier because apparently the game has a nasty difficulty spike. I think I game over’d the most in this one of the 3 games. While I cant say I enjoyed it as much Earthbound, I still had fun with the game, and was satisfied by the end of it. It also made me retroactively feel bad for Giygas/Giegue/Geeg/The Geek. I was surprised by certain songs originating from Mother 1 being reused in Earthbound, like Humoresque of a little dog, Snowman, and the music at Lloyd’s school. I dont really have much to say, other than Pippi is cute chad, Teddy has Kamina shade and the Josuke hairdo, and that that one factory maze can burn in hell. Also, remember how at the end Ninten’s dad was like “Hey hold on, this might not be over yet!” I dont think anything became of that. I would have liked Mother 1 and Earthbound to have had more of a connection. Maybe answer questions like where Ninten and his crew were during Earthbound? I think they could have been cool mentor characters for the Chosen 4. Oh well. Happy Birthday, Mother 1! If any of the 3 games deserves a remake, it’s you.

And then there was one. After beating the first two games, I immediately decided to end my journey by playing Mother 3, which I had heard was the best one. And having played it, I can safely say that I agree. I’m glad I didnt get spoiled on anything because this game blew me away. Not only did we have more of a story this time around, we had chapters and character development! The sprites were updated and more expressive, the humor was on point, the music fit perfectly and when this game wanted to break your heart, it did just that. I also liked that the main setting was on an island with a town of residents with names, and that we got to see them all grow older as time passed. I also liked the theme of the game being a sort of nature vs technology, as shown from the game’s logo, and how the town became more distant and empty as Porky’s happy boxes began filling every home. The gameplay was still fun as always, and certain fights, like the Barrier Trio, gave me a run for my money. When they struck their last, spectacular pose, I was laughing hard and felt relieved! ...Too bad the Masked Man took the needle anyways. When I got the the final fight, I had a mixed feeling of sadness and dread and it only got worse as the intermissions kept happening. And the ending to that fight and the game as a whole...Sheesh, they really know how to punch your heart, huh? And when you get to the final screen with the restored logo...it’s just perfect. “No crying until the end”, huh? Well, I bawled at the end, so how’s that? Thanks, Mr. Itoi. And shout out to the team of fans who translated the entire damn game by themselves, cause they did a fantastic job!

Mother is one of my favorite game franchises of all time, and I hope it continues to get exposure and introduce new generations of players into the crazy, noisy bizarre worlds of these games. The games also served as inspirations to many other games, like Undertale, which I loved as well. I heard that there is some official poll going on in Japan right now that’s asking fans what they want from the franchise. If I’m being honest, other than more official merchandise spanning all 3 games, my pipe dream for years has been getting a Mother Trilogy Remake where the characters and setting looked like those official clay figures. While a Mother 4 would be cool, I’m kinda content with how open-ended things are. Plus, if Itoi isn't on board or doesn't give his consent, then what’s the point? Also, I’d love for Porky to get in Smash cause we need more Mother and villain reps, but I doubt he’ll make the cut. Considering the track record so far, the last two DLC fighters are gonna be 3rd party characters, which is fine.

Anyways, that’s all I got. Happy 30th Anniversary, ya’ll! May the power that be grant us our wishes for Porky in Smash, Mother 3 world-wide re-release and a Mother Trilogy Remake.

skam remakes survey results!

in total i have 248 responses! there were only a few i had to delete (like people who only watched one remake and then voted for that one remake as their favorite- kind of not the point of the poll. stuff like that)

below is a rundown of the results!!!

part 1: demographics

the vast majority were 19-24 (48.6%) or 15-18 (39.2%) and just 8.2% aged 25 and above, and 4.1% under 15.

vast majority were female, 9.4% nonbinary, and 4.5% male.

most people who took the poll were bi/pan (53.7%), with a lot of lesbians also (29.5%), some questioning (4.9%), some gay (3.7%) and a few straight people (3.7%). also some asexual people, which, whoops i forgot to put that as an option but there were only a few.

part 2: viewership

the most viewed among people who took the poll: skamfr season 3, skam austin season 1, druck season 1, skamfr season 1, skamnl season 1, and skam spain season 1.

the least viewed was wtfock season 1.

for future seasons people are going to watch: the most common answer was skam spain season 2! followed by druck season 3, skam france season 4, and skam austin season 2. only 21% of people plan to watch skam italia season 3.

part 3: opinions

the most popular eva was isa!!! by a LOT!!!! followed by emma (23%), megan (12.3%), Hanna (9.1%), Eva (Spain) (8.2%), and Eva (Italia) (4.9%). no one chose jana.

the least popular eva is italian eva with 25.8%, followed by megan with 24.5%, then Hanna, then Jana, then Emma, then Eva (Spain), and a very small amount (2 people) chose Isa as their least favorite. (the other tiny slivers are all people saying they can’t choose!)

the most popular jonas is yann with 38.3%!!!! followed by gio (19.3%), jorge (16.9%), Jonas Druck (15.6%), then Kes (9.1%), and 2 people (0.8%) for Marlon. No one for Jens.

by FAR the least popular jonas is marlon! also very unpopular is Jonas Druck with 21%, and Gio with 8%. the other ones are pretty marginal but yann had 12 votes, kes had 9 votes, jens had 5 and jorge had 3.

shay is the most popular isak by a LOT (47.5%)!!!! also popular are lucas france (20.9%) and Matteo (16.8%). followed by lucas spain (8.2%), Lucas Netherlands (3.3%) and Martino (2.9%). just one vote for Robbe (WTFock).

by far the least popular isak is martino (62.9%)!!!! followed by robbe with 11.4%, then lucas france with 8.3%, then Lucas Netherlands with 7%. Just 5 votes for Lucas Spain and no votes for Shay!

the most popular noora is liv (37.9%), followed by manon (28.3%), then mia (17.9%), then Nora (10.4%), then Eleonora and Grace (2.5% each), then Zoë with one vote (0.4%).

the least popular noora is grace with 47.2%, then Eleonora with 23.8%, then Mia with 13.4%, then Zoë with 8.2%, then Manon with 5.2%, then Nora with 2.2%. No votes for Liv!

the most popular sana is amira druck (42.3%), then Zoya (22.8%), then Imane (20.3%), then Amira Spain (8.7%), then Imaan (5%), and one vote each for white sana and Yasmina (WTFock).

i think this is the most unanimous out of all the questions!!! daphné won by FAR with nearly 3/4 of votes (73.7%)!!!! after daphné is engel (11.5%), then Kiki (5.8%), and Kelsey (4.5%), Viri (3.3%), and finally Silvia with only 1.2%.

the least popular vilde is kiki (33.6%), then Kelsey (22.7%), Silvia (17.5%), Viri (14%), Engel (7.4%), Amber (3.9%), and Daphné had just 2 votes (0.9%)

the most popular chris is jo (35%), then alexia (27.6%), then Cris (21%), then Sam (9.1%), then Janna (6.6%), and just 2 votes (0.8%) for Fede.

fede is the least popular by more than half!!! followed by janna (15.1%), luca (12.4%), Sam (6.4%), Jo (4.6%), Cris (2.8%), and Alexia (1.8%).

the remake people thought was objectively the best: Skam Spain is the most popular with 27.3%, followed closely by Skam Netherlands with 24.8%, then Skam France (17.6%), and Druck (17.2%). 8% for Skam Austin and only 1.7% for Skam Italia. No votes for WTFock.

honestly probably most people chose the same for these two questions, but anyway the results are slightly different. skam france is the most popular (25.9%), then skam spain (19.7%), then skam netherlands (18.8%), then Druck (15.9%), then Austin (15.5%), and Italia (4.2%). no votes for wtfock.

okay so the most popular answer to this one by far was shay!!!!!! other popular answers were eliott, matteo, cris, isa, jo, emma, and lucas (france).

best soundtrack: most popular answer was skam netherlands (35.5%), followed closely by druck (32.5%). then skam france (13.9%), then austin (7.4%), then spain (6.1%), then italia (0.9%). no votes for wtfock.

part 4: long answers

Question 1: Do you think any of the remakes have outdone the original in any way? If so, which, and why?

okay so there were a few people who said something along the lines of “nothing will ever beat the original” but other than that: people said the remakes with more poc + wlw rep, and specifically mentioned skam spain, skam austin and skam netherlands a lot. here are a selection of the responses:

Austin for making Shay their 'Isak'. España for giving the second season for lesbian (?) Cris instead of Noorhell. France in the social media department, especially ig stories.

Spain; it is so kind & loving to its characters, which i think means a lot in a show that is supposed to be about LOVE

I really like the way skam españa handled Lucas coming out! It was very different from the original and shows that you can come out without having had to find a boyfriend! And they’re showing their (now openly) gay character recognising that gay culture exists and actively takes part of it! I’m over all impressed by skam españa. The way they handled Eva’s insecurity without actually having had Jorge hide anything bad from her. Them deciding to break up for their own best (and me thinking that after growing as their own person they will find their way back to each other). I really liked that they didn’t have break up-sex, I never liked that part in OG or any of the remakes.

I think Skam España was better than the og in terms of narrative tightness (although let's be real every s1 has been well done and narratively tight just because they're based on such a great season)-- making Eva actively choose to hang out with Jorge over the girl squad during the long weekend, having the central conflicts actually centered on her female friendships by having Viri betray her instead of Lucas, having the season that explores gay themes be centered around a girl in the girl squad rather than an abrupt change to a boy (girls can be gay! who would've thunk!). Also Skam Netherlands made Isa a much more active participant in her story earlier on than other remakes... not entirely sure this is better done but it is a refreshing new characterization of her that I liked! Also their soundtrack is better done, maybe. Also Druck has definitely outdone the og in terms of hating wlw their powerful misogynistic minds (':

skam austin is so much more hilarious than the og like its comedy is sheer gold

France in terms of cinematography and I feel also like they want to develop the characters more, Spain because they will focus on more things other than noorhell :)

Question 2: What has impressed you about each of the remakes? What has failed to impress you?

So this one was pretty mixed, but the most popular answer was definitely more diverse casting + inclusion of wlw and a bunch of people mentioned david as well. a lot of people said that skam italia failed to impress them because of whitewashing. a lot of people said that none of the remakes have succeeded in making noorhelm palatable, though many also said that winterberg was an improvement from noorhelm. people really liked the remakes that have mixed things up in terms of plot. a lot of people mentioned that girl chris is much improved in the remakes because she didn’t have very much character/story in the original. a few people mentioned not liking skam france because it’s unrealistic / too dramatic. here are some responses:

Impressed me: The new interpretations of the characters in ways that are familiar, yet makes them unique. Cool new insights into the cultures of different countries. Ways they've been able to increasingly diversify the original cast of the show. Making characters in the girl squad explicitly not straight. Giving the girl squad greater roles in their show. Unimpressed: erasing important parts of characters' identities from the original (i.e., making Chris characters skinny, whitewashing nonwhite characters). Unexcused misogyny and racism. The fact that no Skams except for Skam Austin and Skam France and Maybe Skamesp have been able to really grasp what makes Vilde a likable character. The decreased importance of Sana's role in season 1 in some remakes.

druck - failed to impress - s1 is so boring and if s2 was a person they'd probably send me to a conversion camp

france was impressive for stepping up from -4 to 100 in just one season and unimpressive is every time they make a new vagnus despite it being really irrelevant even in the og :( and when they keep the whole “are you sure your not a lesbian” @ noora in every remake bc it serves no purpose it was gross in the og but even grosser in the remakes bc they think they really have to keep that in even though it was not a plot point in og.. just a unfair joke it’s disappointing :(

I am literally physically unable to even casually check out Skam Italia because of white sana

skam españa said FUCK noorhelm and i respect that! also druck kinda sucks for how colossally they fail at trying to be woke. i dont watch skam italia but fuck them for whitewashing sana lmao

skam france - the tenderness of elu and them having hands

impressed by: - SKAM Austin being the only remake where Isak character is a girl; - SKAM Spain pulling a power move of the century and replacing a noorhell season with an original wlw one; - Druck having guts to NOT cast a white cis twink to play Even; - the piano scene from SKAM France. romance was invented the day that clip dropped. half of its views on youtube are mine not impressed by the fact that all remakes (except for Spain, but maybe they saved it for later seasons) seem very adamant on retelling the noorhell storyline. one time was enough

Question 3: Which characters do you think are an improvement from their Norwegian counterparts? Which characters do you think are worse?

a lot of people also said that none of the vildes (or: none of the vildes except daphné) have succeeded in the comedy and the complexity of original vilde. a LOT of mentions of girl chris being improved in every remake bc they actually gave her a story / she has more personality / made her bi. a lot of mentions of shay and cris!!! mixed about engel because some people said she’s an improvement and some people say she’s worse. people have said that none of the eskilds have the depth of the original. a few people also said hanna is an improvement in how they developed her in season 2 i.e. not making her into a party girl. here are a selection of responses:

pretty much every chris bc they’re getting development they deserve. especially alexia and cris for being gay. italian sana is worse for being white washed

chris had no essence in the og, but alexia Jo etc are great characters. William is worse in all the remakes cuz he never improved. skam Italia is worse in every way imaginable. skamnl is way better at showing how teenage girls act. skamus took everything they needed from og and made it better

Daphné and Alexia are both an improvement on Vilde and Chris. Spanish Cris also seems to be getting much more development than the original. Italian Sana is obviously worse, and again, personally, Niccòlo just didn't have the impact of Even.

Not worse Per say but its been excruiating to watch Noorhell in lots of different versions which is why i usually skip their season or at least all their scenes. I think that Yann from Skamfr is an improvement on the Jonas character from the og because he reflects his actions much more. I kinda think Kiki from Druck wasnt as likeable as Vilde from og at first and the lesbian energies were missing but she has grown on me...I REALLY dont like the way Tyler from Skam austin treats Megan and women in general...

every version of chris has become more well rounded and gayer. definite improvements.

Shay is an improvement over isak because DUH, it's fantastic to have a black lesbian as the center of a gay storyline instead of just another white gay guy. Speaking up, Lucas Rubio is an improvement over Isak because he isn't straight passing, and if LVDH ends up having a journey to becoming more femme he'll be an improvement as well. Thin Chrises Are Worse (sorry cris soto my lesbian frog queen....) and engel and kiki are worse because they don't have the comic relief aspect that the OG vilde did, which was like, the thing that kept her bearable

Question 4: (for LGBT fans only) What gay headcanons do you have and why? How are they similar/different from the original? For example: Do you see a certain character as gay because that's how you viewed them in the original?

definitely the most commonly mentioned headcanons were lesbian daphné and bi kes! people mentioned bi isa a lot as well! a bunch of people said that they viewed vilde as a lesbian but none of the vildes besides daphné are lesbians. same with noora, though a lot of people said liv is bi or manon is a lesbian. a LOT of people said that grace is very straight. also jo being bi and elia (italia) being bi.

A lot of my gay headcanons differ from the original. For example, I headcanon vilde as a lesbian, but most of her remake counterparts I headcanon as straight (with the exception of Daphne and maybe Kelsey). I also headcanon noora as a lesbian, but I headcanon most of her counterparts as either straight (Grace) or bi (Liv, Nora, Manon). I headcanon most of the Jonases as straight (Jorge, Marlon, Jonas Druck), but I headcanon og Jonas as bi, and also Yann as bi. However, I do headcanon pretty much all Chris characters as bi/pan (except for cris since she's probably a lesbian! and is it a headcanon if a character is confirmed bi?), and I think that's sorta because all the Chris characters have similar personalities and interact with characters in similar ways, so it makes sense that I'd headcanon them all similarly. I do try and take all the skam characters on a case by case basis, and I don't want to let my ideas from the original influence my views of the characters too much because they are new characters!

i always saw daphne as a lesbian because of vilde, but she has enough energy and evidence on her own. i also see manon and nora as lesbians (as i did with noora in the og, but they do have Energy on their own, as it the case with the majority of my headcanons) and emma as bi. jo and zoya? also definitely bi. most women have big wlw energies honestly. and yann and jorge are bi.

One thing I've noticed with the remakes is I don't feel obligated anymore to assign a gay headcanon to every character just to have them, if I don't feel gay vibes from a character I don't say they're gay or bi anyway just because you know! The gay headcanons I do have are based on who the characters in remakes, not just copypasting

Every version of Noora (except grace olsen, who is disappointingly het, with a tad bit of bi potential) is a lesbian to me. This is probably because I viewed og Noora as a lesbian and this colors my interpretation of all of them unless they give off extreme het vibes (grace 😔) I also hc Isa as Very Bisexual, because I mean did you see the way Liv was introduced? Also we have the same hair so she’s gotta share my sexuality sorry not sorry

I headcanon literally every Vilde as a lesbian and every Noora and Eva as bisexual precisely because of the characters in the original.

I will always headcanon the Eva's as wlw, partly out of wish fulfillment and partly because the supportive dynamic of Nooreva always stood out to me. Otherwise, the og characters don't affect my perceptions of remake characters much.

I see my high school self in Daphné, when I didn't know yet I was a lesbian. In s2 she was unable to name one thing she actually liked about the guy apart from that he's the official "hottest guy" at school, the whole "nothing turns me on", she wants a boyfriend to fit in but she's actually relieved when she learns that Charles Henri isn't into her and she's slightly obsessed with gays things (is Manon a lesbian? Lucas coming out, etc). I see my past self in her more so than with Vilde in og but that's maybe because I'm french and that's why i can connect with her more.

Question 5: What potential future things are you excited for? (Examples: Shay's season, Spanish Yousef, potential new storylines, etc.)

sooo many people mentioned shay’s season! and cris’ season! and david/matteo! and a lot of people are excited for french yousana & balloon squad! also lucas rubio’s channel! no point in showing the responses because honestly the above is what the majority of people said.

i think it’s interesting how skam spain, as a whole, was really highly rated like people said it’s objectively the best one AND it’s exciting how it’s changing things BUT their characters all scored pretty low on both favorite and least favorite, so it seems like none of their characters are universally hated or loved, like maybe they haven’t made as much of an impression? i don’t know! either way it’s underrated.

also i didn’t realize how popular skamnl was! a ton of people said that skamnl is the best one, the best soundtrack, the best cinematography, the best eva, and the best noora! and yet it seems like everyone hates lucas vdh (tho not as much as they hate martino) which is interesting!

also skam italia scored super low on almost everything which i think is fun lmao

also shay is UNIVERSALLY ADORED which i’m so pleased about! gay rights!

it's so great to see woobin back on screen 🥺, i forgot to tell you, before homecha it was when the weather is fine which was ( still is shjddj) my comfort drama. i think the most favorite parts from it are the book club the characters held at this bookstore every week and everyone would bring something books, poetry to read aloud. the quotes and poems were so <//3 whole drama overall is is like hot chocolate <3 but unlike homecha which was warm and light, it's cold, sad and melancholic jdjdkd a slow burn tbh but it's the kind of sad which gives comfort? i hope i make sense 😭. not many ppl liked it hdjdkdkd ig it's not for everyone.

1. We’re infighting because it’s the primaries. The time that we’re supposed to be infighting.

2. If the DNC wants an energized base to show up at the polls in November, then Joe Biden ain’t the one to get the job done. For some reason, Biden and the DNC care more about winning over Republican voters, not firing up their own base. So that’s on them.

3. Voting third party is a thing that literally happens every single election. Hillary voters (PUMAs) did it to Obama in 2008, but he won anyway. Most of us tend to vote in our own self-interests, but it’s the job of the candidate and the Party to motivate voters. Running a lackluster, bumbling candidate who often yells at prospective voters (just like Hillary did) does not help defeat Trump. It doesn’t.

4. The “Russia! Russia! Russia!” histrionics are old and tired. Bloomberg spent more money on all kinds of ads than Russia ever did. And guess what? It didn’t make me go out and vote for someone who I know is a racist oligarch. So please cut the Russia BS. It’s neo-McCarthyism. It’s a red scare tactic straight out of the 1920s. It’s also an old government strategy that was used to silence genuine leftist opposition. The FBI and the CIA called MLKjr a commie and they called the Black Panthers socialists. This shit is old af. And it’s trite and tiring. So I’m asking people to please stop regurgitating that tired MSNBC talking point.

5. Right now the score is 800 delegates to 660. Bernie is only behind by 140 delegates. If you’re so worried then do what I’m doing when I get home: phonebank for Bernie.

6. Vladimir Putin isn’t the threat here. Not even remotely close.

Putin didn’t make student loan debt permanent. Joe Biden did.

In 2005 Putin didn’t push legislation to weaken consumer protections against the financial industry. Joe Biden did.

Putin didn’t gut the Voting Rights Act, enact racist voter ID laws, purge eligible voters from the voter rolls, and close down thousands of polling places in black neighborhoods. Republicans did that.

Putin didn’t work with the lobbyists of big pharma to block a law that would have prevented them from price gouging drugs like insulin. Joe Biden did that.

Look, Republicans tell their voters to fall in line. I’m not a Republican. And I don’t respond well to scare tactics. That’s how Republicans are goaded into voting against their best interests. By activating their brain’s fear center.

The DNC is slowly but surely remaking Democratic voters into obedient little Republicans. Docile, and obedient, and motivated by fear. Again, I am not a Republican, and I am not a conservative centrist.

And I ain’t coalescing behind shit. Nobody on planet earth can force my black ass to vote for a racist, ass licking corporatist. So please do retire the “lesser of two evils” bullshit. Y’all got me with that shit in 2016. But not this time.

Here’s the thing though. You can’t have a revolution if the people aren’t with you. And right now it looks very likely that Biden will win the nomination. I want Bernie to win, but we have to face reality. Democrats can’t sabotage themselves AGAIN or we’ll end up with more Trump. And who knows if he won’t try to give himself a third or fourth term. Biden may suck, but he’s better than Trump. And if its only a small step in the right direction, it’s better than going backwards.

I fundamentally disagree that Biden is “better” than Trump.

Biden is more .... “nice” .... about his brand of Reaganism. I will concede that. It might seem different, but it really isn’t.

Trump and Biden have much more in common with e/o than differences.

Trump is against abortion, Biden is against abortion.

Trump wants to cut Social Security, Biden wants to cut Social Security.

Trump was against desegregation, Biden was against desegregation.

Trump is against decriminalizing marijuana, Biden is against decriminalizing marijuana.

Trump has supported Republicans over Democrats, Biden has supported Republicans over Democrats.

I could really go on and on.

Their differences are largely cosmetic.

As a definitely-not-rich black man living in racist ass America, I’ve got as much skin in the game as anyone. I am not a privileged person.

Breaking down Broccoli’s Messages

(a.k.a. “The Method to the Madness”) Alright SO...since we are less than 2 weeks out for Uta no Prince-Sama’s 7th Anniversary I wanted to go and break down some things that I thought were interesting when it came to both Broccoli (The company that owns the rights to UtaPri) and also Sentai Filmworks who does the distribution here in the US What is going to follow is a rather detailed breakdown of when the series started airing to present and also certain other things that I have found of interest as...it would appear that this “UtaPri detective” might be close to cracking what is Broccoli’s code on June 24th! Ready... Set... GO!

Okay so where do we begin...let’s start on 2011 and 2013...specifically July 2nd of 2011 and then April 3rd of 2013. Now why are we going to use these dates in particular? Here’s why! Have you ever looked up the dates between when the (original) games for the PSP games came out in Japan and the release dates for the Seasons came out? Its really quite fascinating July 2nd, 2011 is when S1 of UtaPri came out and what is interesting about this is that not long after (August 11th of that same year) was the ORIGINAL Repeat that came out on the PSP...a game that I actually own for the system and have to finish at some point but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. At this time also in UtaPri land 3 games had already been released for PSP before the remake of the first one. In order they were The ORIGINAL Uta no Prince-Sama (June 24th, 2010) Amazing Aria (December 23rd, 2010) Sweet Serenade (February 10th, 2011) Now keep this in mind too: These three games released BEFORE S1...what was the reason? The obvious answer (and the very likely one is that they wanted to make sure that they had a lot of stuff to use for STARISH if they wanted to do a series...well they did a Season 1 and then at the “ambiguous” message of “See You Next Time” in the final title card it almost seemed cut and dry after the debut of STARISH in the Anime that they would get to a second series...a second series where the rules changed and we got to start “expansion” of the UtaPri world” BEFORE THAT! Broccoli wanted to make sure that the fans were introduced to new characters outside of the ones they already know (i.e. the STARISH boys, Saotome, Tsukimiya and Hyuuga) so two more games would come out before April 2, 2013 Debut (May 24, 2012...3 days before Maeno’s 30th birthday) All-Star (March 7th, 2013 and became notable for the first game you could date the QN boys) So keep this in mind because its at this point where e get ready also for the second series in April pf 2K13 and NOT ONLY do we meet the QUARTET NIGHT BUT...Shining starts to really show his cunning by subtly introducing a new unit that wanted to take on STARISH but at the time he simply called them “A trio of Amateurs” The Anime comes and we do meet QUARTET NIGHT but during the final 3-4 episodes of ML2K we find out that there is a “rival group” and I seriously hesitate to use that word but others do so let’s go with it for now. The trio, as we find out, is brought on by a competitive and twisted man named Raging Ootori and his son Eiichi is the leader. The group HEAVENS would be the pawns in a twisted match where the loser would be forced to disband. Its at this time you can ask the following question: Is this story going to end after two seasons? OR Do the producers and the people behind the scenes have a “bigger plan” for not just HEAVENS but also STARISH and QN? Well HEAVENS would lose as one would find out and...at the time you might not have been the biggest fan of that trio because Eii came on so strong that contact cement wanted him to chill out and Nagi (at the time) was a brat...I admit this wholeheartedly! The thing was they didn’t end the series with a message like “Thanks for watching” or the “STARISH FOREVER” message that we would see later in this unique setup...no they said “See you next time” which made things rather intriguing! What could broc be planning? Christmas day of 2013 we found out! 12/25/2013 an OVA which has only ever released in Japan called “Shining Star Xmas” was released and it was during the OVA that Reiji convinced the QUARTET NIGHT to work together again because of the inspiration he had gotten from their Juniors (remember that the plot of S2 was SUPPOSED to be that QN and STARISH were Senior/Juniors) and they decided to go and make more music and also take on STARISH. Now let’s pump the brakes because this is where Sentai comes in It was towards the end of 2013 that Sentai announced they had gotten the rights to release S1 and 2 of Uta no Prince-Sama in the US. S1 would release in January and S2 would be in August. I thought it was interesting that they did it this way but then again I am curious if that is a common practice or I’m just losing it! ANYWAYS So S1 and 2 get released here and other songs would come out for the series not Anime related up until about 2015 and during the lead up we would start to get a lot of little hints about the new season that was announced not the least of which would have STARISH doing “cross units” (I fail to see how they were to a degree but I’ll go with it) while the solo idol songs this time around would go TO...my boys of the QN! Fun fact time for this that might not have been in the know: The date of the OR release for season 3 AND the date of this past stage were the EXACT SAME DAY...take a guess which left a better taste in my mouth ANYWHO! So S3 happens with the two groups working to see who would get to appear as the rep for Shining Agency for the Triple S! Wait...what is this and why are they doing this? Alright politic time! So...in 2013 (so this back around S2) the IOC (International Olympic Committee) was selecting the host city for the games of 2020. The three countries that were up for it were Turkey, Spain and the eventual winner which would be Japan to see who would host the games. Japan won and for the past 4 years they have been getting ready for the games and its going to be interesting to see not just how it sets up but also who opens the games as there has been a poll for the public to see which group gets to perform the Opening Ceremony...this is kind of like what would become the storyline between STARISH and QN for at least the 3rd season except...well let’s talk about it During Season 3 a rift would begin to open between STARISH and QN and this was ESPECIALLY the case when they said they would take Haruka if they won (this is the same thing FYI that HEAVENS said or more specifically Eiichi...it was VERY INTERESTING to hear trust me). Now what made this also interesting was towards the end of the season and Reiji made a declaration that they would keep facing STARISH until they surpassed them! Now surely this “moving out of the dorms” couldn’t be game ref right? WRONG See Broc likes to drop things that happen in the GAME WORLD into the Anime...except I think when they leave in the game its under happier terms...I haven’t got that far in the TL yet! we SHOULD mention that the game “All Star After Secret” was released before this series came out. The date of the game was March 12th, 2015 and, to date, is the final PSP game that has been released in the series. the other 2 games on the PSP were both Rhythm Games that were called “Uta no Prince-Sama MUSIC” with (so far) the final game being released on the VITA om January 28th, 2015 NOW we get to have some fun! In the midst of all of this Broccoli DOES announced another Visual Novel game for UtaPri called “Dolce Vita” (Translation: The Sweet Life) which follows the 11 boys after ASAS. Also Broccoli announces a partnership with KLAB who is behind the series “Love Live” and NOW things get interesting because LL: School Idol Festival DOES I believe have an English release...hmm! Back to the Anime At the end of Series 3 HEAVENS reappears as a 7 member group and each member would be a counterpart to a particular member of STARISH (ex: Eiichi/Oto, Masa/Kira, Van/Ren etc.) and they performed HEAVENS GATE again...aight! At the end of the season two things are put up on the screen: “To be continued...” and “SEE YOU NEXT SEASON” Aight...this is interesting! It should also be noted that during the season that Sentai announced licensing S3 (Maji Love Revolutions) but it was interesting that even though they announced licensing it they didn’t release it...why? The answer doesn’t come until after the 2016 season and into this year when they announced that they WOULD release both of them...but about that 2016 season During S3 there were fans that speculated (both on here and facebook) that S3 was it for Utapri...now we forgot that STARISH saved HEAVENS from disbandment for a reason and that became apparent when we got to the end of “R” as the North American license calls it and now that might have come back to bite them. HEAVENS didn’t appear at 5th stage for the announcement but in January of 2016 it was announced that the season would air in October of 2016 which breaks the two year cycle for UtaPri! Up to this point they only did one season every 2 years and now they did this...interesting When Season 4 was announced (called “Legend Star”) what form it would take would be interesting...what we got was a duet season with STARISH and HEAVENS (a proper C-U if i can say that) and then the fun began! for the most part it was an interesting season...especially if you were on the HEAVENS side watching it to see how the boys of HEAVENS were represented. Most of the time they were okay with some genuine sweethearts in ther (hello Eiji, Shion and Van), one that was rough around the edges in Yamato, another that...depends how you want take him in Nagi, Kira was a saint and then Eii...the most controversial of the original trio! What became somewhat clear in HEAVENS is they wanted fans to try and accept them...I already had after a second viewing of S2 but for some it was trickier and I get that! What was interesting was to see if the situation with Eiichi would cause more fans to sympathize...or if they wanted to forever turn against HEAVENS Episodes 9-11 would become one of the bloodiest battlegrounds in an Anime as far as fandoms went. Now that not withstanding here is where it gets interesting and this deals in the end cards for the season First off on AniPlus’ facebook page they specifically stated this was the SEASON finale and not SERIES. They actually made that mistake with DRIFTERS when that was getting ready to wrap up and then had to retract it. Crunchyroll also promoted the final episode of YOI as the SERIES finale and who knows...the series MIGHT be over and the Movie is the last you get of it but the way of advertising the final episode towards the end of a few seasons...it was intersting Okay now let’s get really good! So the end cards...let’s recap how they did the end cards for S1-3 1000% - “See You Next Time” 2000% - Same Revolutions - To Be Continued/See You Next Season Legend Star - the “STARISH FOREVER” message and then the Message about the Animation Project Here is what I have found interesting so far For STARISH there have been 4 games where they were the sole focus (remember Debut was only when QN came in but they weren’t playable yet) AS/ASAS were so far the games when QN comes in as playable characters Nothing on HEAVENS...YET! NOW it gets good though After the finale if you went on the twitter for UtaPri they first wished the fans a Merry Christmas from Shining Agency BUT ALSO Raging Agency...I wonder why they also had a message about the new project on their twitter but they used three words that were key I think FROM NOW ON when you read that it almost sounds like both Agencies will be active right? I can jive! Now we get to NOT 5/27 of this year BUT 5/24 which was 3 days before the concert (and the now infamous debacle) It would seem that, when you get to breaking it down so far Broc has been strategic in WHEN they start expanding the UtaPri Universe and HOW they dod it right? There is a reason I bring this up According to the translation of the blog post which was put up three days before the concert it has some interesting wording towards the end “Please watch the development of this work that sets Uta no Prince-Sama Sports and Expansion of this world” Okay...WTF?! THIS POST was brought to my attention by my dear friend @shiningstarish (P.S. Nadie one of these days you have to tell me what that blog title means) and when I read the whole thing which, I will bookmark and if you want the WHOLE translation I will give it to you so you can break it down but I thought it was interesting “Sports”...alright are we getting a sports game in time for the Olympics or... Okay but then there is this “Expansion of this world” THIS...this is interesting Broccoli has NOT introduced a new group into the Game verse since the QN back in May of 2012! Its been over FIVE YEARS since the last “expansion” of the UtaPri universe (so this ends the argument of “milking the franchise” really) so it would stand to reason that the next thing to happen is that HEAVENS would come in to the game world in some way and then a game would come out for them...makes sense right? But hold up...something’s NOT...QUITE...RIGHT! Ahh I think I know what you might be thinking and you would be right See the STARISH and QN characters were given games FIRST and then seasons...HEAVENS went backwards! Here is the theory we can work with Broccoli WANTS to have a game done for HEAVENS...they wouldn’t have made that splash page for June 28th of 2015 with the HEAVENS 7 on a newspaper article if they didn’t AND they wouldn’t do the “White Day” even for them right? So if you read between the lines of the “UtaPri Masters” what can we take from this Broccoli is probably going to be announcing a HEAVENS game in the near future and more than likely it will be either at or around 7th Anniversary thus the “Expansion of this World” line But what about “Sports”? I got to thinking about this and I was thinking that MAYBE they don’t want to announce another rhythm game since they have “Shining Live” to come out BUT what about something in the realm of the “Olympics”? That’s a “Sports” theme right? Maybe part of the “Expansion” could also be that they include all 18 (or 22?) characters in the game and you do different athletic events (which could ALSO explain the episode with Yamato and Syo which was SPORTS THEMED)...am I on to something here?! again EVERYTHING that I just talked about and scoped out is PURE SPECULATION but if I am reading the tea leaves right then June 24th could be a VERY INTERESTING DAY!

Holy shit, Entrapta! What a bot. How the hell did you get it to self-regenerate like that? That’s impressive as hell. And Hordak continues to show himself to be a good boss for competent underlings. I like that in a villain.

Seeing the Princess Alliance’s progress--or lack thereof--is interesting. They’re all rather tired of each others’ company, aren’t they? I wonder how those fractures are going to come out at the least opportune moment. It’ll certainly be interesting to see.

Up next is going to be the second half of the episode! We’ll be getting to that on Friday. I’m sorry that I’ve split so many liveblogs recently, guys; I think I’m in the middle of a manic upswing, which is making it hard to focus on my actual work. You’ve seen how insane my stream schedule has been these past two weeks; that’s the result of my manic phase, I think. Hopefully my brain gets back in order soon. Being bipolar sucks.

Speaking of streams, I’m planning to stream a little tonight now that I’ve completed the liveblog! I’m going to answer asks first, but I’m planning to stream the Champion’s Ballad DLC of Breath of the Wild. Stay tuned for that if you’re interested.

Finally, the results of the patron poll for what show I’m doing next are in! Mob Psycho 100 won with 9 votes, beating out Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts, which only got 7. (I’ll post the full vote totals in a little bit.) We’re going to be focusing on She-Ra for a little while yet, but we’ll be switching up between that and Mob after a while. And, yes, I know infinity Train season 3 drops next month; we’re going to hold off on that for a little while, focusing on Mob and She-Ra first, and then like the last two seasons probably do it all in one chunk.
