b. between all four shows, which one do you think did the best job of creating a storyline?

the pacific all the way. three intersecting stories, all individually devastating, all with wonderful character work. MWAH

d. what was a character arc in any of the shows that left you unsatisfied?

i said harry crosby here, but i also feel like the tuskegee airmen were Greatly Wronged in the sense that they just sort of. vibed. after their initial ep. which i get that the miniseries wasn't about them but Still. it made me sad

f. rank all four shows in order of favorite to least and explain why.

1 - the pacific: personal connections to the marine corps as well as robert leckie as well as the Actual And Realistic showing of war is just. so good. i hate media that begins to drift into not showing the Horrific sides of war and i feel the pacific is able to negate this the least. also with the old breed my beloved

2 - band of brothers: good ol' classic!! the besties the bros. do i even need to go into depth with this one.

3 - generation kill: the only reason this one isn't higher is because of Personal Connections that make it a really hard rewatch lol. but as with my reasoning with the pacific, the same applies here

4 - masters of the air: though parts of the series were still really good and well thought out, overall i felt the show tended to be more rushed and struggle more with characterization (through no fault of their own, due to the episode cut and struggles of covid filming) which led to it being my least favorite

A Fada Oriana (The Fairy Oriana) by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen.

It's about a fairy named Oriana that has to take care of a forest but one day, while looking at the river, meets a fish who talks her into neglecting the forest, which causes a lot of trouble. Then, Oriana, has to learn how to repair the damage she made.

It's a book about responsibility, consequeses, the importance of individual action and learning from one's mistakes.

Património Cultural: Realidade Viva (Cultural Patrimony: Live Reality) by Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins.

It's a book about the preservation of patrimony in Portugal under the context of belonging in the European Union in the 21st century.

It's not a very interesting book nor scientific, just a summary of Portuguese and European laws for people who don't wanna read the laws (?). I wouldn't read it on my own but it's a mandatory read for one of my classes in my Master's so I gotta ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I didn't know if I was going to but since GMM seems to be finally trying out more for the GLs, I feel like I need to show my support in this direction so I made the moral choice of watching as it airs to make it clear to them the audience for this is here and we want more of it!

So far ep.1 was super cliché and silly but I liked it a lot!! I want all the clichés for the girls too! Tired of seeing queer women suffer and die on screen...

2. 3 Will Be Free

It had been sitting on my watchlist for a while but I never gotten around to it for some reason... Nevertheless, my latest Wheel Decide™ for what to watch next landed on it, so... I'm watching it now!

2 episodes in only but I'm loving it a lot!! The plot's super interesting so far, really like the way they're going about it. Let's see where it goes!!

Currently Consuming

I'm gonna opt to mention the game I'm currently playing (besides Bloons TD 6, but I'm always playing Bloons, so... not news), which is Heaven's Vault by Inkle!

It's an extremely niche game, focused on figuring out an ancient language and, with it, the history of the world it's set in. It envolves robots, space travelling, discussions on xenophobia and religious intolerence and a lot more. I haven't finished yet but I'm loving the experience so far!

So... Those Secret Life tarot predictions I've been doing huh? Well it's Grian's turn! Reminder that you don't really need to know anything about Tarot Cards. If you're curious though it's just a simple 5 card spread I made specifically for this. Also I did this on November 2nd of 2023 (it's a Thursday) cuz I'll probably decide to schedule this as to not spam the tags lol.

First Card - Start

So this card was rough because while I was placing it I turned it without thinking about it (which I like never do). I had to debate whether to interpret it upright (how it would've been had I not turned it) or reversed (how it was when flipped it over). As I said in the very first post, I'm doing these as practice so this is also just a 'well wtf do I do in this situation' sort of milestone. In the end I've decided to interpret it as upright with a kind of side note of reversal... if that makes sense... I'm gonna combine the meanings a little bit!

I drew the Ace of Wands... uh... funky style. (Sure that makes sense right? /silly) This card is describing Grian's start of Secret Life as involving a lot of hard work. There could be some minor setbacks but he'll likely work through them fine enough. He'll probably have a great time, honestly, if this card has any truth to it.

Second Card - Individual

This card is describing how Grian does in the game basically. For it I drew the reversed 8 of Swords. He survives through the more difficult first part of starting in a new life series world. So far he's doing very well too so this is supported! If you've seen his episodes you'll know he's not exactly down a whole lot of hearts yet. This card also talks about being open to change and new opportunities. What new opportunities? I'm so glad you asked. To the next card!

Third Card - Social

This card is meant to describe how Secret Life goes for Grian on the social end of this series. I drew the Death card which made me laugh. The death card is about change, rebirth, and transitioning from one phase to another. My brain immediately went to how everyone and their grandma were drawing comparisons between his first ep with Scar on the camel and third life. This makes me think he's either not going to team up with anyone or if he does it'll be someone he hasn't yet and well... So far it's looking like the former! It makes that lil' comparison extra fun cuz this is saying he'll be putting the past expirences behind for something new.

Fourth Card - Big Impact

I drew the reversed Page of Pentacles which is wild cuz I drew that for Joel too but as his season end. Here I drew it for Grian's 4th card which is describing what makes the greatest impact for him this season. This card talks about a lack of progress and getting lost in the details. He might get too caught up in something and forget about his task.

Fifth Card - End

I drew the 3 of Pentacles for how Grian'll end Secret Life. This card talks about collaboration and learning. He's probably very secure in his beliefs... except that those beliefs might be a strict adherence to the rules which could ultimately cause him more problems than necessary. It also means he could take the advice and criticisms of his fellow players pretty well.

So do I think this reading is predicting Grian to win? Not in the slightest. 3 of pentacles really feeling like a participation trophy here lol. Like 'yay you learned things and got to make content with all these lovely people!' Not exactly something screaming he's gonna win. If I had to take a gander as to how it goes down, I'd reckon he gets distracted and fails a hard task or fails his normal tasks multiple times (based on the 4th card). That would then somehow push him to be more strict with rule following (based on the 5th card). If that is what happens, the fail would probably happen either soon and then affect the majority of his season or later when he's low. Maybe it's what turns him red.

For posed, "fancy" pictures, I will edit them individually to get whatever effect I want.

TADC Ep 2 The Caine Train

Blah blah blah Caine does this thing. We get a quick gag of Bubble saying something that has to be censored ha ha funny joke laugh at the gag

OH YOU THOUGHT THAT WAS A JOKE YOU THOUGHT THIS WAS A THROW AWAY LINE HUH DID YOU WELL? Well maybe it is. But I want to mention that when Bubble curses, it isn't censored the same way the 'human' characters are. In fact, it's weird that Bubble can curse AT ALL. Since the whole thing is censored it's even weirder, we've only seen individual words censored out so far too. This leads me to believe (random speculation) that NPCs can curse or violate the content policy or whatever, but when they do it the 'system' or whatever (since that seems above Caine's control) censors it differently than when humans produce censorable content. This might matter! We've seen Pomni and Zooble get censored via hilarious gag and that would confirm they're both humans, maybe!

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Moving along, Zooble seems to consider going on the adventure, and Caine is pretty frantic at trying to get her to join in. It seems like he to some degree requires the consent of the humans to do stuff, but I'm not gonna read too much into that. Zooble, by the way, has some SHOCKINGLY awkward looking walk animations this episode. I think it's understandable she (is it she? I don't want to get the pronouns wrong but I'm kind of out of the loop on that particular discourse) doesn't want to tag along since her body is like...not very robust looking. Kind of a bummer!

Pomni refers to everything as 'LARPing', which is like, yeah that's what they're doing, and harkens back to her belief that all of this stuff is just fake nonsense. Ragatha doesn't even disagree! And, gloriously, Ragatha starts LARPing right in the next scene. How fun.

One last thing I'll mention is that Gangle in this scene is completely quiet and just wears her comedy mask the whole time. Gangle in particular is very interesting to me- she represents kind of the comedy/tragedy blah blah blah you know what I mean it's the classical theater thing. Importantly though (so far) Gangle's 'comedy' bit is basically nonexistant, literally just a mask for her apparent permanent angst. She wears a happy face like Ragatha does!

wrote for hours then checked the tag and realised im gonna have to keep it simple so this is the dry version of a full on essay lol

What has been the BL that took you by surprise this year?

Secret Crush on You was so unique i just kept laughing at the insane sexual chemistry combined with the "what if he doesn't like me"; daisy, touch and som were everything to me; i watched it cause of positive reviews tho, wasn't there while it was airing

i got to experience Big Dragon Season 1 though - went into it intending to enjoy it after 3eps were out but i got really attached to mangkorn, yai and their relationship; wasn't interested in the nsfw scenes, just yai's big brown eyes

What has been the BL that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

The Eclipse - truth is i initially loved it, definitely had fun with the later eps too but took issue with the pacing (some things time was spent on vs quick wrap up); plus the trailer vibe was quite different -not inherently bad, just smth that disappointed me a bit; i acknowledge the show was definitely not made for me though 📏

What has been your favorite BL this year?

KinnPorsche - i enjoyed it immensely while it was running - now im annoyed with it; the acting was great, the chemistry was undeniable, the plot was exciting, had me gripping my chair

actors (as couples, i like a lot of individual actors but not the couples theyre a part of):

BounPrem (two episodes of Between Us are all the introduction i need, they are extraordinary)

characters (a lot of them get on my nerves but the heart wants what it wants):

Ou Wen and Mark - they're so!! aside from the chemistry, the characters are fun on their own and chaotic together, their story is unique too, skipping through the whole show for their scenes only with a compilation opened on the side was worth it

Seojoon and Jiwoo - TMS2 made me go from barely interested into insanely invested in their relationship

PatPran - a couple this powerful is rare

Shao Fei and Tang Yi - shao fei's openness and the way he cares, how tang yi stops and listens to him, i gotta rewatch for them only

Zhou Shu Yi and Gao Shi De - honestly they're a bit questionable to me but also the ride or die type which i respect, that one deleted scene from Fighting for Mr.Second keeps popping in my head

HiraKiyoi - they are so perfect in their twistedness

VeeMark - YES i said what i said, they can make it work, i believe in them

Kang Gook and Han Taejoo - the ONLY thing they lack is a proper kiss

What does the “interesting next chapter” for Hannibal involve? Fuller provided no concrete details at Split Screens Festival, but he did tease a very enticing elevator pitch: “It was going to be ‘Inception’ meets ‘Angel Heart.'” Combining Christopher Nolan’s mind-bender with Alan Parker’s supernatural horror movie sounds unsung, but it’s a very Bryan Fuller thing to do and he’s definitely not joking. As a huge fan of your S4 speculations, i got to ask your thoughts on Bryan's latest teases!??!

The short answer is that I have no idea. XD  And the truth is that it’s been so long since the end of the last season, and I’ve had so many discussions over time and read so much fic and planned so much fic and written enough fic that while I know what I think is most likely, any sense of objectivity I have about the subject has pretty much eroded away (as if I ever had any in the first place). And my bluff is still eroding. ;)

WRT the specific article you referenced, I do want to talk about Bryan’s elevator pitches and what we should (and should not) take out of them.

The thing about Bryan is that he’s a positive encyclopedia of film knowledge, and he uses example films to reference any of the scores of ideas he may be having at any given moment, and his mind runs about a million miles per hour nonlinearly (which is why he ends up with verbal diarrhea in interviews sometimes). He’s used a lot of film comparisons for various different Hannibal seasons and episodes, and if you looked at them without watching the show, they might often lead you astray. For example, he’s described the first season as The Shining before, and if you were to take this thought at face value, you’d think Will really would have been the copycat killer and would have ended up killing Abigail (Jack would have been right, zomg!): The Shining is about how a man descends into madness because of a sinister influence and then kills his family. But all Bryan meant was that both stories had the madness component, and in Will’s case it wasn’t even technically madness but a physical condition. Also lots of heartbeats, gaudy bathrooms and clanging noises.

Another time, Bryan caused all kinds of fandom drama when he described “Antipasto” as a “new pilot for the series starring Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson.” People were taking that to mean that Will was no longer going to be either the love of Hannibal’s life or the star of the show. And Bryan repeated that a bazillion times, either oblivious to or regardless of the panic he was causing, probably because it has a tantalizing vagueness to it so it’s a good advertisement. But it was hardly a straightforward statement about what to expect from the show, although it described that single episode well enough.

So let’s have a look at other comparisons he’s made to various films/shows/stuff:

The Talented Mr. Ripley = “Antipasto”

What you’d expect: Guy in Italy kills the guy he’s in love with and takes his identity, then has to balance it against his own identity as he tries to get away with it, costing him his next lover.

What we got: Italy, murdering the man you’re in love with, and identity shenanigans, so this one was fairly close. Hannibal gets away with it and doesn’t fall in love with anyone else, so that’s different. Also, Bedelia. And Abel Gideon flashbacks in nonlinear narration. It’s…circumstantially similar.

The Hunger = Hannibal & Bedelia in Italy

What you’d expect: A beautiful yet dangerous vampire seeks to replace her old lover, whose life has run out after he kills her protege, by seducing a woman who then destroys her and takes her powers. Supposed to be a metaphor for drug addiction.

What we got: Couple of sexy, ice-cold blondes, I guess. Upper crust musicianing and fancy clothes? A waterphone being hurled down the stairs in the background? IDK, man. IDK.

Don’t Look Now = “Primavera”

What you’d expect: A guy with ESP loses his daughter, but then has glimpses of her as he and his wife go to Italy to deal with their grief. Wife falls in with some old psychic ladies, and it turns out his visions are actually prophetic visions leading to his own death by serial killer.

What we got: Well, we were in Italy to deal with the grief our gifted protagonist suffered at losing his “daughter,” and he continues to have visions of her, and there is a serial killer on the loose and a somewhat grumpy Italian detective hanging around. But like Ripley, it’s circumstantially the same, but the story is totally different.

Frankenstein‘s monster = Will’s Italy arc

What you’d expect: (There are so many film versions of Frankenstein out there, as well as the original novel, that it’s hard to anticipate what Bryan thinks about when he thinks of Frankenstein’s monster. So I’m just kind of throwing together the most commonly remembered stuff.)  An overly ambitious doctor creates a living “monster” out of dead human body parts, then promptly regrets it. The monster escapes, kills a bunch of people including the doc’s fiancee, tries to coerce the doctor into making a mate for him because it’s sad to be alone, and then either the doctor pursues the monster or the monster pursues the doctor and they both end up dead. 

What we got: A doctor made a guy into a monster, and the guy is kind of back from the dead. The doctor was the one who escaped, and the monster is the one who is pursuing. The doctor kills people instead of the monster. They’re each other’s mate, and they don’t kill anyone’s fiancees. XD  They don’t die either. It is, however, sad to be alone. This is a deejay mashup of Frankenstein if ever there was one. 

Death and the Maiden = “Secondo”

What you’d expect: Traumatized woman who had survived torture recognizes the voice of her torturer and kidnaps him on a stormy night, trying to make him confess his crimes to her before she kills him while her husband looks on, not knowing if he believes her or not and if he should help her or her captive.

What we got: There’s a woman in an isolated house with a man captive. Aaaaand…that’s about it. Plot-wise, this movie goes mostly the opposite direction from where the film does, and Will is at best an amalgamation of both the husband and the torturer, and way more active than either in the outcome. Again, circumstantially similar but a different story.

Kill Bill = “Aperitivo”

What you’d expect: After her wedding was crashed in the most violent way possible, a woman awakens in a hospital and goes out seeking vengeance against her former lover by killing all his cronies one by one until she gets to him.

What we got: Not Frederick Chilton in a bright yellow tracksuit, unfortunately. After some violence, people wake up in hospitals and then…talk to each other? 

Hannibal, the film = “Contorno”

What you’d expect: the obvious.

What we got: Pazzi’s story and death, and a fun little turnabout with Alana taking Clarice Starling’s place on the phone. But most of other plot stuff from Hannibal exists elsewhere, and instead we got some snail-y conversations and a barefoot beatdown on Hannibal by Jack Crawford.

Bound = Margot and Alana’s storyline

What you’d expect: A woman and her lesbian lover plot to steal the money her mafiaso boyfriend owes to his boss in order to escape the boyfriend’s tyrannical hold, but the plot goes wrong and they get caught, making it so they have to improvise their way out.

What we got: Again, circumstantially something very similar, but only in the loosest of terms–that two women lovers are seeking to escape the tyrannical hold of one of the men in their life, getting his money and ending up killing him. For some reason, there’s no pig-baby in Bound. Unless you count Christopher Meloni.

Leopold and Loeb = “Tome-wan”

What you’d expect: Two men, convinced they’re above everybody else, try to create the perfect murder by hatching a plot and killing a kid. They get caught.

What we got: Two men–at least one of whom is convinced he’s above everyone else–hatch a rather haphazard plot without really telling each other what they’re doing, then hunt down a guy and don’t actually kill him, and then they don’t get caught.

…

So is there a pattern in any of this? What can we take from it to apply to the Inception meets Angel Heart (with maybe a dash of Ripley, since that’s what Bryan told Matt Zoller Seitz in the past) pitch for the fourth season? What would we expect from these films?

I think the answer seems to be nothing more than circumstantial similarities, turnabouts on the expectations that these films might have set up, and some tonal similarities. That’s the pattern, and that’s the only pattern as far as I’m concerned. 

That said though, we might as well have some fun speculating with them.

Angel Heart

What you’d expect: A private detective is hired by a mysterious stranger in a manbun to track down a missing person who was last known to be in a coma. When every person the detective interviews about the case ends up meeting a grisly end, he comes to discover that he is the very man he is looking for, and the devil made him kill all those people in a fugue state because he had attempted to cheat the devil from coming to collect his soul.

…Wait, wait wait…. Isn’t this already Hannibal season one? An investigator falls in with the devil, who helps in with his investigations, all the while encouraging a fugue state to get him to kill people, so that at one point he thinks he’s the very killer that he’s looking for??? 

Didn’t Bryan already tell us that the fourth season would be an inversion or subversion of S1?

Cleverrrrrrrrr, Bryan Fuller! You made us think you were telling us something new by just saying the same thing you said before in another way. But there really isn’t anything new here at all, is there???

I guess, circumstantially, there could be a detective searching for them, or they could be searching for killers, or Will could be metaphorically searching for himself. The deal with the devil has obviously already been made, and maybe Will is trying to find a way out of that, as the guy in Angel Heart was. 

People have made a big deal about the coma and fugue state business, and I’m not ruling that stuff out, but I don’t think they’ll retread ground that they tread in S1 with Will, and I don’t think that they’ll put Hannibal in any sustained position of weakness. They never do either of these thing, and that limits where they can go with the coma and fugue state things.

Inception

What you’d expect: A wanted corporate espionage dream-hacker tries to get his name cleared in order to return to his children after being blamed for the death of his wife, so he agrees to attempt to create an idea in the mind of an unknowing victim by generating a dream within a dream within a dream, where there is a danger of not knowing what is real and what is not.

Well…not quite knowing what is real and what is not is Hannibal all the way, and Will is a dream-hacker if ever there was one. And he will probably be wanted by the law. Kinda doubt he’ll be looking to return to his wife and child, though maybe he is interested in clearing his name. And Hannibal and Will do share mental space, just as Cobb and Mal do…and there could be some comparison to be made between Mal and Hannibal here, in how they haunt their husbands…and how Mal frames Cobb for murder. XD 

People get very hyper-focused on the dream-within-a-dream business from Inception, but I found that to be kind of beside the point, tbh. “Inception” refers to the process of planting an idea in another person’s head in such a subconscious way that they believe that idea is their own and they make it a part of themselves and their reality. I guess because I find this to be the more interesting part of Inception, I’d personally like this to be what Bryan Fuller is talking about here, rather than the dreaming stuff. It’s very psychological, and if Will is looking to understand who he is on the other side of the veil, I feel like there’s a lot of opportunity here for both or either man, within that alchemy of truths and lies. 

If we were looking for a more plot-driven similar circumstance, a situation in which some rich person paves the way for Will to clear his name in America. We do have some powerful rich people on this show. 

To be quite honest, the first thing that came to mind when Bryan said Inception was him talking about how Richard Armitage and Gillian Anderson never had a chance to be in a scene together, so maybe they could be in a scene together in the future in Will’s mind--like he’s hosting all the people he’s killed, or whose deaths he blames himself for (sorry, this thought isn’t very optimistic about Bedelia’s chances). And that reminded me a lot of Cobb with Mal. 

I’m less clear on any of this with regard to Hannibal: it’s as he says himself in “Digestivo,” it’s dangerous to get everything you ever wanted, and that’s where Hannibal finds himself at the end of TWOTL. I’m not sure where that will take him after, though Hugh being convinced that Hannibal would always have to fight for Will is somewhat heartening. I’ve spoken elsewhere on my preferences for where Hannibal goes in S4, but I don’t have a particular sense of anything for him that comes from either Inception or Angel Heart. He’s more likely to be the devil than Will is, and he’s more likely to be compared to Mal. I could see scenarios that would cast him as Cobb, I suppose, but nothing concrete. 

I wrote a lot here to say that I don’t have much to say, but the truth is that I think we should be skeptical about taking anything Bryan says that sounds like an elevator pitch too literally.

The Walking Dead 11x14 spoilers

I just watched the episode 11x14. Okay...

Gonna tag @thewalkingdead-imagines because I really wanna read your thoughts about it all! Read this post (if you want) after watching episode 14.

• I take back what I said about the timeline. In a second analysis , it's entirely possible.

Why? Because: A month has passed between the episode that Negan leaves and the episode that some of the characters are living in the Commonwealth. (Ep. 9 - 1 month - Ep. 10)

In Episode 10, Tyler Davis, the former soldier, is arrested for the fuss he made at the masquerade ball. In Episode 11, Kelly and Connie are investigating the Commonwealth military and Tyler's treatment. And they have a conversation with Mercer in the woods, and Kelly mentions that Tyler has been in the hospital for a month under armed guard, so... (Ep. 10 - 1 month - Ep. 11)

The teaser trailer for episode 15 shows Daryl arriving at the gates of the Hilltop, as shown in the 6 month flash forward. So there's no denying that by episode 15, six months have passed since Negan left and almost 3 or more until episode 14, so... It's his child, and most of us are stupid assholes that don't pay attention 🤌🏻 One problem solved. (and I mean some of us, 'cause man, we're so inattentive

• I liked Annie, this episode shows a little more of her, despite everything being around Negan, which is kind of shit. Hopefully in the next few episodes we can find out more about Annie as a individual, not Annie as just Negan's wife. She demonstrates leadership traits, she is a strong and firm woman, understanding and definitely Negan respects her VERY MUCH.

• Negan is a sad puppy in this episode and in every scene I felt like giving him a hug. But I guess that's to be expected considering it's the first conversation he's had with Hershel Jr, and the kid points a gun in his face. Negan always liked kids, he always had a certain kind of protectiveness, and seeing a 7 year old point a gun in his face, with an urge to kill him because he killed the boy's father weighed heavily on him, and still more knowing that Annie is carrying his child, it was a good analogy of when he killed Glenn, he felt what he caused with great force in that scene and he held himself very hard not to cry. (Jeffrey's subtle acting in those moments was spectacular).

• One thing I DEFINITELY didn't like at all. Lydia's reunion with Negan... Man, what the fuck was that? Like, Lydia says he left without saying a word, clearly sad, and Negan responds by saying that he left because he didn't give a shit and that's what everyone wanted. Like?? Really?? Are you really going to say he didn't care about her? Because she felt it man. Seriously, my heart broke for her when he said that. A disappointment man! Why did they build such a nice relationship between the two of them for him to say that shit to her face later? And she was the only one who cared for him, who missed him when he left. They shit on it hard.

• Lauren's acting was also great. We can see the deep conflict, the worry, the fear on her face during the conversation with Annie and when she finds out that Negan is taking care of Hershel. She's trying to process all the danger and tension they're going through, the reunion with Negan, the revelations about his life and Hershel's whereabouts along with Negan. It's too much for her and yet she's still going strong. I'm so sorry that Maggie has to relive all of this now that Hershel knows. You can see in her face how much the revelation that Annie's baby is Negan's hit her hard. I really want to see what happens in the next few episodes regarding this situation between these four characters.

•About Negan and Annie's relationship. I still think it was something all of a sudden that's just going to be a tool to make the plot work, which is a shame because I can really see Negan really liking Annie, I think she would be the type of woman for him. I really wish they had shown all the building of this relationship, because it's been more than 3 months or so, they've managed to get to know each other at least a little bit, it's still a short time, considering it's a fucking zombie apocalypse and you can't go around trusting everyone that fast, whether you've had sex with them or not. And I don't think Negan would be the type of guy to jump isto such a serious relationship, considering everything he's been through with Lucille, or rather what he's lost with her and everything else he's lived through until he gets to this point. If they had introduced her a few seasons earlier or built it right, this relationship would have been pretty good. If it was something the writers really wanted to keep through the season. Because the actress who plays Annie was not seen in any episodes filmed later in the season, not with other actors and not with Jeffrey, so I don't think she's gonna survive, and honestly, there's no reason to introduce a brand new relationship in the last fucking season of the show!

RAMONA by Kill Bill: the Rapper

Ramona is an absolute classic, it's one of the first projects by Exociety I listened to and was my favorite for a really long time, it's got this really chill energy and is so personal.

Smokey and Miho: the 2 EPs

A follower recommended this because I talked about getting into bossa nova but had trouble finding albums, and the groovy and relaxing vibes of this one definitely didn't disappoint. I can't help but smile when I listen to it while driving, I've got a slightly worn down CD of it and it has such a lovely aesthetic, I love it.

I'm Onto Me by Rav

I'm Onto Me is a very aggressive, raw album that isn't afraid to sound grating on the ears, which gives it a lot of character and genuine creative merit behind it. I remember Rav spending over a year working on an album, giving up on it, and then making this in a month, and I think the refreshing passion really shows.

LOW ROAR

I don't have a specific album in mind because I've mostly listened to assorted songs but I'm really into the energy of them, they have a primal feel but in a very relaxing way. Like it feels like early people enjoying making music using rocks and sticks and shells, but with this nice, relaxing synth attached. It's all just very fun.

SNOWGLOBE THEORY by Kill Bill: the Rapper, again

Snowglobe Theory, in contrast to the raw but more relaxing energy of Ramona, has a lot of character and is definitely an absolute banger, I love how grungy and grounded the tracks start and get more floaty over time as it progresses, mirroring the theme and story of the album, it's really neat!

Assorted vibey Brazilian music from the 70s YouTube recommended me:

Youtube recommends stuff to me sometimes and a lot of it is pretty vibey, so I'm gonna put down Brazilian Skies by Masayoshi Takanaka, as well as All of Me by the same. They're very uplifting and make me very happy.

I don't have any specific songs but please just listen to Potsu for the love of God he's like the only lofi producer on the planet who uses weird samples no one else is using and actually learns to use a variety of instruments for his music, it's all just very relaxing and vibey and I love it

Time has been one of my all-time favorite albums since like 2012, almost exactly 10 years ago on the day in fact. It has this really groovy and high energy synth beat that makes you feel like anything is possible.

do you have any resources on OSDD? like more in depth than just the diagnostic criteria, i'm very familiar with those, i guess more...people talking abt what it feels like? I have cptsd and I've been noticing things very similar to what you described in your post for a long time now. I thought I had DID for sure a while ago, but I was also actively manic/psychotic, so when that calmed down I assumed I had just been delusional. But the identity disturbances and dissociation persist. I don't think it's DID now it's osdd if it's anything but I'm wary of saying that for sure and rly would like some i guess more descriptive accounts of how symptoms are for someone with it. Sorry if this is a lot/you don't have anything of that nature, I'm glad to hear you're figuring out your own multiplicity and hope the understanding helps you in your healing process!

@/this-is-not-dissociative has a lot of info about did/osdd-1 (and other dissociative stuff) as well as having did/osdd-1 vs. dissociation in bpd/cptsd - though it's possible to have did/osdd-1 and bpd/cptsd of course - and did-research.org talks about osdd-1 a little bit (especially vs. having full-blown did). these are probably the best resources i can point you towards even though they don't contain many personal accounts. the first blog is staunchly against self-dx iirc and there's a lot of "you should speak to a professional about this" but u know how it is (at the very least they provide a lot of info and resources on how to go about doing that, it seems.)

the problem w personal accounts of stuff and did/osdd-1 is presentations of these diagnoes will differ from person to person, sometimes greatly. contrary to media depiction they're also covert disorders by nature - they're psychological coping mechanisms for intense distress, and part of those coping mechanisms is being ignorant to the fact that your sense of self is fragmented / there are parts of your sense of self that are attached to trauma. i know of several folks who were initially diagnosed with osdd-1 but then later re-diagnosed as having did because the severity of their situation was very effectively hidden from them by this dissociation.

( another problem is that ppl are flawed and can give bad/wrong info on how stuff works or trends can give the wrong impression and unfortunately that's very common w did/osdd-1 spaces online. e.g. u don't have to know the name, age, etc. or know who's "fronting" or whatever with elaborate tagging systems and pages on ur blog with said info abt ur parts or "alters" to have did/osdd-1. worrying abt that stuff too much can worsen dissociation. )

it's not common for someone to have did/osdd-1 and for it to be obvious to themselves or others (who don't know what to look for, that is). this is why no small number of folks with did/osdd-1 are seemingly well-functioning on the outside since different dissociated parts often serve "everyday life" purposes such as going to work/school and these parts are the ones disconnected from traumatic "materials" as they're called. part of the reason why i'm wanting to conceptualize my experiences as osdd-1 is due to the fact that my default state (the "host"?) is emotionally dissociated from my trauma - i know it happened, but it seemed like it happened to "this body" rather than "me" and i don't feel anything about it until i get triggered. "apparently normal parts" that handle everyday life are usually trauma-avoidant or separated from the trauma like this in some way.

that being said, i'm still not totally sure if i qualify for an osdd-1 diagnosis or not tbqh. my situation is most like the "some individuals with OSDD-1 lack both amnesia and highly distinct parts" mentioned in the page i above linked (but yesterday and this morning/afternoon i was convinced i did - go figure). i'd been researching did/osdd-1 for a while (not necessarily because i thought it was what i was experiencing) which is part of what helped me come to terms with having experienced dissociation for a long time, and i thought up until like...the other day i definitely didn't have it. i came to believe i had some weird bpd/cptsd/szpd-like situation where emotional states had been "locked away" in boxes that i rarely touched as a defense mechanism against psychological distress. i also had a metaphor for my "emotional part(s)" as it/them being like, (a) ghost(s) that follow me around and aren't evil but occasionally "wrap their hands around my throat" to remind me that they're there.

then i saw someone w an osdd-1 diagnosis talk abt how they have parts whose "job" is to "feel sadness for them" as a defense mechanism against that kinda distress and then i was like...huh. and then i thought about how seeing my parents again felt kinda weird and distant. and that's kinda what tipped me off, despite having a pretty unstable sense of self and dissociation issues for a while. the "seeing my parents" thing is somewhat more major, because it felt different from my "default setting." thinking about it is uncomfortable and weird.

ur gonna have to do a lot of reading, tbh, and doing it in moderation is probably a good idea since thinking too much abt dissociation can trigger it. another thing is that conceptualizing yourself as having did/osdd-1 when you don't actually have that experience can worsen dissociation/identity issues as well so u gotta be careful abt how u approach it. but at the same time, cptsd and did/osdd-1 have mostly the same treatment methods anyway (and technically u gotta have cptsd to have did/osdd-1, not as like a diagnostic requirement really but a "you have to be traumatized from long-term traumatic experiences at a young age" sense) so many resources abt did/osdd-1 may be helpful to u regardless of whether you "have" them or not.

i can't tell u how to differentiate between symptoms of psychosis and did/osdd-1 (the blog i mentioned may have posts about that topic - there's two in their master-posts but neither were particularly helpful i don't think) since afaik i'm not psychotic but i wish you luck!

Watching the first half of the last episode took me a lot longer than it's supposed to take. It was my third time rewinding Taejoon's "I love you" to the coach and I didn't know another "I love you" was about to hit me, by Junghwan. Haha.

Oh I would LOVE to see a gifset dedicated to Yumin's close up shots, focusing on her expressions (or all the things we have so far). Like when she stares at the other team right before starting the match, when she observes other characters from afar, when she won the game and hugged her partner and waved to her dad (I'll stop here.)

I like how everything has its own pace and vibe. (Like how Taejoon trying to figure out his sister's and Taeyang's relationship also dealing with the emotions he's feeling every time new information drops.) I like the curiosity and uneasiness I feel throughout the episode since there are also tons of great scenes, I don't mind waiting for reveals.

Things were a bit exaggerated in the last episode, the comedy scenes and mistreatment of his parents towards Taejoon. But there were some messages given while delivering the scenes so I think I'm fine for now.

They used Taeyang's name in literal sense to make him call her My Sun and later to make her draw the Sun and write "me" on it.

What do you think about what Taejoon (and Taeyang, individually) will do when he (and she) finally connects the dots?

Very curious of the reveal and how they're gonna pan out for the rest of the eps!! It does keep me watching since they're revealing bit by bit. I have taken the bait to continuously look forward every week.

Taejun is king of cringe! he probably had that in mind for a long time and finally gets to use it for her now they're official, a precious boy.

I think Taejun will somehow remains the same because even when he kinda knew taeyang/junyoung and junghwan(?) relationship he still treats taeyang as the person she is and continues to keep up with his sis (i dont' think i saw resentment from him that junyoung left which says a lot). I don't know about taeyang tho, she still have this guilt and she might feel "betrayed" that taejun never mentioned anything even when he knew. That's where they can build some angst?

Oh I'm as happy as you to know there are a lot of amazing creators who are making sets for this drama!! Always nice to know you are creating contents along with other ppl who are enjoying it too and the tags are never empty hehehe
