its ocd awareness week so i checked the tags and its full of little tidbits of like, headline-sized explanations but also some outdated stuff. for example i saw a slide on an infographic post about types of ocd (without explaining what that means; its more like clusters of similar symptoms vs types of bipolar or diabetes) and it included hoarding and a few others that are considered related disorders nowadays. i mean theres definitely some value to saying "if someone says they have Pure O Type OCD this is what that term used to mean and this is what we call it now and this is how our understanding of it has changed since then" but that info was definitely not included which is :/ and honestly i think saying "there are different types of ocd and this is what we mean by types and here are a some examples w explanations to illustrate how wide of a range of experiences people have with ocd" is a LOT better than just, ya know, a list that includes pedophilic ocd without any context.
