Tropes:

-miscommunication

To be honest, this trope isn't bad. It just becomes irksome when it's used too much and not well. I like the miscommunication trope in healthy doses but I'm tired of seeing mostly this in the fanfics I find.

-enemies to lovers/ rivals to lovers

Most of the time when I read this trope it just doesn't sit right with me. Because yes at the start the two characters absolutely hate/despise each and then suddenly BOOM! they don't anymore? Like... Where was the progression that made them stop hating each other? Where was the part they started getting along? I really like this trope when it's written well

-idk how to title this one👀 but you will get it in the rant (or I hope you will😭)

When characters get reincarnated back into their body a few years before their death to change their life but they still end up with the person that treated them terribly? Like...I'm talking Abandoned Empress that trope! Where Tia gets killed by the emperor, her husband who has been treating her badly throughout their marriage but after her reincarnation she still ends up with him. Like wtf? She really did have so many better options😭 This trope makes me so so angry whenever I read it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and most the time it doesn't. Usually what makes up for it is the art honestly.

Heaven forbid!!! This is all I find now when I search for fanfics! Smut this! Smut that! RAAAAAAAAAGH!!! I get it, goodness enough? I've filtered my tags, I've set my algorithm but holy moly smut always, without a doubt, shows up in half the fics! And it's not even the type that's integrated into the fic, no. It's the type that's literally porn with no plot or some shit. I'm so tired of smut. When I am looking for angst, I'm looking for angst. When I'm looking for fluff, I'm looking for fluff. Not fucking smut.

I'm deprived of this shit and need more of it, good golly! Where are my writers with the angst that's hurt/no comfort??? Please! I beg of you! Write more of that! I'm on my knees crying because mmm angst is the best type of writing in my opinion. I eat the writing up because those authors cooked!

TW for discussion of self harm and self injury

Ok so first thing I see is this

And this is definitely a touchy subject subject for me, I get hyper critical when I see it discussed, especially since some early conversations with my therapist. Even before that discussion though I've always hated the way self harm is discussed even if I couldn't articulate those feelings.

And that's because abstinence as a moral imperative might be the most damaging ideology to ever worm it's way into society.

I mean, even the title of that article "First, Do No Harm, Not Even to Yourself" is soaked in moral judgement, "hurting other people is wrong and bad, right? So why would do a wrong and bad thing to yourself? You wouldn't download a razor blade" and it doesn't even make a proper argument on the moral philosophy of harm, she merely attempts to imply immorality by association. Hurting others is wrong because it violates their autonomy, your liberty to swing your arm ends just where my nose begins, right? It's about consent. In BDSM, a sadist may physically hurt a masochist because they have consented to it being done to them. Similarly, gender affirming care doesn't violate the Hippocratic Oath no matter how strongly a transphobe feels about it because informed consent is given to the treatment. Conversely, genial reconstruction surgeries performed on intersex babies or even infant circumsions should be considered a violation because consent has not and cannot be given.

But how does this apply to self-harm? It's your body, it's your autonomy, you aren't violating shit. Even being in a system no single alter has complete authority over the body, it's still possible to come to a consensus without unanimous agreement because guess what? Making decisions while having conflictual feelings or being in two minds is a perfectly normal human experience.

Am I saying you should self harm? No. Of course not. I'm simply saying that self harm is not an immoral act and I will remove the personhood of anyone that tries to weaponise shame in this way against people who almost certainly feel an incredibly painful and torturous amount of shame and guilt already.

The article is also vaccuously lacking in substance. The author seems to think this 'gotcha' is a sufficient argument but itself, checkmate traumatised liberals, but obviously needs to generate ad revenue through scrolling so offers 8 "new realities" to help reinforce a morally pure and healthy mindset.

1. Feelings are survivable and containable

Uhhh sure, they can be, if you have the right coping mechanisms to deal with them. You can't just tell someone to forgo the coping mechanisms they already have without successfully replacing them with something equally or more effective though. The whole point of dissociation from trauma is because certain feelings ARE deemed to be unsurvivable by the brain, you're not weak minded for thinking so.

2. We have art, reading, distractions, therapist, meds

Yeah no shit, that's not always enough though and you haven't failed if you try them and they don't work, the coping mechanisms have failed, not you.

3. We deserve to feel better

So true! Self harming makes me feel better when emotional distress is overwhelming me, I'm glad we agree

4. We don't need to guarantee pain

You know what guarantees pain? Shaming yourself out of using a coping mechanism without addressing it's root cause, but that's ok because feelings are "survivable" right?

5. We don't have to hurt via self-abuse

I actually don't know what that's supposed to mean, I can hurt myself without hurting myself? I don't have to self harm? I know I don't have to, but I can if it's better to do so than to not

6. Our trauma is over, why continue it?

First of all fuck you, retraumatisation is a very well noted trauma response, but so is shame and guilt so who's really continuing our trauma here?

7. We don't have to stand vigil over pain to honour abused parts

EXACTLY! That's what coping mechanisms are for, hey guess what coping mechanism can be really effective at temporarily relieving emotional pain? I'll give you a hint, it's not reading.

8. We will honour our abused parts with self compassion, understanding, acceptance, and encouragement

Once again so true! I will be compassionate to abused parts, understanding and accepting of the coping mechanisms they choose, while encouraging exploration of healthy alternatives without shaming them if they don't work.

Her website is littered with BuzzFeed style listicles of "25 ways to avoid self injury and prevent self harm" "25 more ways to avoid self injury and prevent self harm" "another 25 even more ways to avoid self injury and prevent self harm" and like, sure, they're all perfectly fine distraction techniques but what really pisses me off about the wording of these is that they're framed as ways to distract yourself from the urge to self harm, as though the urge itself is what's wrong, and not the pain and hurt that the urge is a response to.

Just watch one more movie bro, trust me bro, this next one will be the one that makes the pain go away bro just trust me one more movie bro.

I have wasted so much fucking time hating myself and shaming myself and feeling like a failure for breaking my streak. Torturing myself during some of the most emotionally distraught moments of my life because "it doesn't matter how much pain I'm in I can't give into the urge, I can't do that, no matter what I mustn't ever do that" imagining how much worse I'll feel when I punish myself for being too weak.

Do you know what I do now? I take note of the feeling, give it space and allow it to be present and I make a bargain with myself. I will give myself 2 hours to distract and soothe from the emotional pain that I or another part is experiencing, and if that doesn't work then we'll self harm with no shame or judgement. And you'll never guess what, I haven't even come close to self harming, and that's great! And maybe sometime it won't be enough and that'll be fine too, it'll just mean I really needed to. The parts that want to self harm feel respected and listened to, my hurt and abused parts feel seen because I'm paying attention to them and not fighting with the self harm part and we all get to move through the experience with grace.

I actually don't know? If it counts anything: a/b/o, except for a finely selected handful of purposeful, miracle exceptions, I am not reading. ABO is a dystopia trying to convince you it's not and I can't stand it. The body horror of it all, and you're telling me it's horny hour? The sexism? Again, the body horror???? The loss of autonomy of it all. HEATS? Terrifying. Horrifying. A+ Horror material that's not treated like it which drives me insane. Uhh, also: "Bruce is a Bad Parent". I'm not reading that. ALBEDO AND BEN DYNAMICS PLEASE. I think it's so funny if they had to interact oh my gosh. Albedo, who has to wear the skin of the hero everyone and their mama knows, but it's not even perfect copy because the colors are wrong??? To me, horror and comedy are separated by a line as thick as a hair, and that's as angsty as it is so funny oh my goodness. And for Ben, he has so many villains, Albedo is not one of the most dangerous on the list, but he is up there on terms of plotting/plans, so it's so funny to me if he doesn't view Albedo as much of a threat anymore. Hatred versus Apathetic/Pleasant dynamics kill me every single time. Make them work together please. I would kill for 3 different episodes of them forced to work together and their dynamic developing into some enemy/friendship, the hostility is still there, but they can vibe. Peak.

ALSO AZULA FANFICS. SHE DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. Hot take but Zuko is so overrated to me. Incredibly so. It drives me insane. Azula is so much more fascinating to me, and I will never stop being upset about Zuko, who has not taken any political classes, sat in meetings, or knows half the stuff Azula had to know for the throne, and got the title of Fire Lord anyway. I say she should've gotten redeemed and then given the throne. Zuko could be a great spy, tbh, but not a Fire Lord, Azula is right there. She is scarily efficient and deserves so much better.

PSA. / 2024 goals !

the reason i haven't been writing a lot is i've mostly been on my OC trying to play catch up on her lore and worldbuilding. you can find her in the pinned post . also i've been planning what i want to do for mizuki for 2024, and my interest very normal love for best girl only gets better each year. i just hope to do justice by her in my own way as i figure out what i'm doing post AI1.

as i'm canon divergent and i have a few things to talk about that i'll be hoping to capture or discuss hopefully some of this year that are parts of my mizuki's canon ! so i'll try doing it in uh, the most organized way because one goal i have at least for 2024 is better blog organization . it's too late to make a sideblog for musings / etc . THINGS I'LL BE DOING THIS YEAR . - focusing on catch up. unless a thread is requested to be dropped, please message me if so, i'll be continuing it. some i will drop for my own sanity, not because i don't want to write with you again! - seasonal / holidays asks will just be holiday asks with no specific content save for people i owe, ex: bubblez' kizuna or thane's trunks, etc. why? i think mizuki deserves to celebrate the holidays or anything remotely happy because while aiba is arguably as of now her best support system, let's be real, i genuinely want to find and work on any of her relationships because she's severely lacking in support. even from 2023. i'll try to stay more on the ball for again, my own sanity this year when i reblog them. - i will be writing my version of post-canon mizuki and child mizuki, that goes from her time before adoption from date, aka with shoko and renju which will be tagged appropriately because honestly mizuki doesn't know many reliable adult figures in her life, and it makes me very sad that she's arguably more mature than...most people save say, boss or pewter or hitomi etc. she deserves better! just because AI2 certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea, and it isn't mine in a LOT of ways, i still took stuff from it, and i don't think it's fair to halt mizuki at 12 forever just because we fairly have critique of NI / AINI and not let her grow up and experience a hopeful future and more bonds to fill the huge hole in her heart. let her be happy is the goal !

now i'm working on mizuki's post canon verse, as i've restarted aitsf 1 to move to aitsf 2, where i'll take a few things that i won't likely budge on unless you meet me halfway !

now onto her post canon details i do have figured out.

mizuki and aiba are partners. one thing that's consistent is through her time with date, that can still be a thing because they ARE a family, albeit i feel estranged granted the resolution route is canon, so mizuki never really got to bond with him, get her aphonia cured, vice versa, is aiba's care through time in his eye socket appreciating the girl's strength and endurance and intelligence in both games. you can have more than one partner, and until / if we have another game and mizuki possibly gets another partner and i debate the chemistry, aiba is mizuki's partner and aiba is generally mostly with mizuki, but that doesn't mean she isn't with date too. she can love more than one person. and both dates are equally dear to her.

mizuki was still experimented on until 3 years old at horadori institute, albeit she has blurry memories at best, and i debate if she should fully remember! one factor of her godlike superhuman strength. but she also is trained in most japanese martial arts she can get her hands on! she is NOT a clone of bibi, bibi doesn't exist whatsoever despite me enjoying her personality, even if i felt it was made to mimic mizuki herself, if others who have muses with canon bonds to bibi, please talk to me so we can plot it out if you keep her as part of your canon ! as long as we meet halfway i'm more than happy to work with you !

mizuki is still a rookie detective and psyncer at ABIS. in my canon, she actually looks to ryuki, also new, but older for advice and i like to think as dual protagonists that they should have been, they get to do some cases together! only if a ryuki is willing of course.

for now, she's working on small to medium cases with aiba. the explosion still happened that took her vision clean out. she does this because of the gruesome history she has, not wanting others to suffer the same kind of unimaginable trauma she has with both biological parents murdered in various means and i'm still debating whether tearer even exists. he likely will, and if people also have the other culprit's actions in their canon, please talk to me too and i'll work together with you on that !

mizuki still runs lemniscate and sunfish pocket. she doesn't have the heart yet to really let go of her neglectful biological father's companies, even if he didn't care for her in a way she needed. in time, i'll see how she feels about this, as i do plan for mizuki to continue her education, as the girl is extremely intelligent.

mizuki is still best friends with iris, but my mizuki also considers amame and kizuna two of her really close friends, but they aren't a sister to her like iris is. they're certainly caring of her, and she'd protect them with her life, but she isn't as close to them as iris, and all of them do hang out together from what i've seen.

my mizuki is a lot more skeptical for the kizunas out there, of lien. she isn't comfortable with his advances towards one of her best friends and generally is a lot more protective. that said, it's all according to people who write kizzy. naturally she's fiercely protective of iris, who now is someone who works for her too as the president of an entertainment company.

my mizuki comes from the MIZUKI ROUTE in terms of character development but NOT THE PLOT EVENTS . iris is not inhabited by so sejima. date and mizuki DO bond like a father and daughter. date unless a date talks to me, DOES cure her aphonia or it's hitomi herself like canon because hitomi is the mom she deserves imho. but i tend to take away the development of her character and their relationship otherwise i feel the date family bond is....pretty estranged or mizuki is MUCH more doubtful of date caring for her at all granted the routes and how she tends to get overlooked a lot.

basically i want to as one of i'm sure other mizuki-mun's, give her my best in my own way, at my own pace !

and those are my goals as i replay the games (again!) . i hope to keep developing mizuki and thank you for being so patient with me as always, everyone ! also kinda sorry for the long post but it was all necessary !

Hmmm let's see what I've got for my WIPs that I can share a bit of!

ACT 1

a Tokyo Ghoul!AU FHR series I started on a little while ago. WIP title for now, I think i like the idea of setting up the story as "acts 1 & 2" for Rebirth & Retri. Here's a lil snippet from it I might publish soon once I get the "scenes/chapters" planned out more. Riding heavy on Tokyo Ghoul's "tragedy" quote for my titles on this WIP lol.

He beams, sunshine and smiles, the thousand-watt smile that melts hearts, melts hers a little too. She can feel the smile grow on her face, feel the way that damnable knot between her shoulders loosens a little still, after all of these years, and shit, that's a complication she doesn't need. Didn't and doesn't, not back then and not right now. His hand lands on her shoulder, friendly and comforting. To anyone else but her.

It feels like a lasso. A leash. A noose. Leading her to the front gates, dragging her to her doom. To the gates. The gates. That.

The gates in the Rangers' HQ that scan for RC cells.

Standard. Necessary. No, not standard. State-of-the-art.

Always the best for the Rangers.

Her pulse grows cold. Is she pallid? What does her face look like? Is it terrified, is the the mask crooked?

Last time. Last time, last time, years ago, the RC scanners were still new tech. Not strong enough the pick up her trace, the trace of a half-ghoul. But that. That was almost ten years ago.

Collection of small segments that talk about both of Isa's escapes from the Farm. Alas I'm still working on this! Just haven't made much progress as of late since my brain is rather fried but here's a little snippet!

The stars are beautiful.

Most places she's been deployed have swallowed their stars. Shot them down, trapped them in little plastic and glass containers, anchored to the earth to light roads and pavements and rooms. Kept like animals poached from the wild. Surrounded by wall and window cages in the comforts of humans' homes to chase away the dark. So many caught, so many brilliant stars brought down by man, leaving the skies above filled with an inky emptiness.

But here, in the Nevada desert where man could not remain, where they couldn't take and claim, not the stars nor the arid land, the night sky celebrates with the splendor of galaxies above her head. She stares into the wonder of purple-pink clouds of cosmic dust and the glittering shine of stars, motionless and quiet. She should be running. She should be taking advantage of the darkness that she had waited so long for, curled into a small ball beneath a pile of road debris to keep hidden in the light of day. She never understood the concept of beauty before; it was a uniquely human perception. Less-thans can't afford to think about such things. But she might understand it now. Just a little.

kiss & tell (it's called: freefall)

Another snippet from a piece of the "freefall" series I'm taping together in my free time! Hehehe so many good moments in this series it's always so hard to pick a snippet without potentially spoiling a part of the series's story.

"That's not the point!" He cries out, tossing his arms in the air and biting back the sting of regret when she flinches in the corner of his eye. Regret, then anger. Anger aimed at himself for regretting that. She does not deserve his sympathies right now.

"I get that you're not sorry. I get that you're going to do it again, even if I don't agree with it, even if I wish you would be sorry. What I want to know is why, Cerrísa. Please." His voice cracks, and he can see the way her face falls at the sound. "Please, explain yourself, Cerrísa. Because I'm running out of ways that I can understand you, and I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, that you're not just doing this- killing people- for shits and giggles. Please."

He's almost in front of her now, taller and casting a shadow over her but he feels minuscule in front of her, begging for understanding. She refuses to look him in the eye, and he hates that she's chewing on the already-cracked part of her lip, and he tries not to think about how the metallic taste would feel echoed in his own mouth. Her mouth opens and closes a few times, and every time it falls shut, he feels a little bit of hope within him die.

Ahhh, this is such a good question! I really had to think on it before answering (which is never a good sign because the more I think, the more I ramble).

I never really took it too seriously in the sense that I doubt people stumble across my blog who don't follow me, and immediately go, "ahh, the Price Blog." I think it's an inside joke, more than anything.

It can get a bit overwhelming in the sense that I don't feel like I deserve even the joke-y title (there are so many other really good writers for Price who are much more deserving, imo), and that I sometimes feel like I can't keep up with the constant demand for more of him. I feel bad when I haven't written anything for him in a while, and when the number in my inbox doesn't go down despite the amount I answer.

Overall, though - it's been really fun! I love getting sent stuff or tagged in stuff about Barry and Price. Whenever someone sends me an ask about him, or a link to art, or a tiktok, it really makes my day! I love the interaction (even though I've been quite MIA for a bit here 😅), and getting to explore different facets of this character. He is still arguably one of my favourite characters to write for, so my infatuation with him hasn't waned.

As for my other work - I'm more than happy with the attention all my fics have gotten! I started out pretty small in comparison to where I'm at now, and I'm always blown away by the amount of support everyone shows me!

What I Liked

the vaguely moumou-like atmosphere it has, i think it's a mix of the way the setting is described---the details of the song household, their school, the smattering of friends, lin rong's restaurant, cotton candy and orange...it just sketches out this very vivid picture of their daily life and how it shaped song yu and yue shizhi into who they are, and i rly liked that! it makes the whole story feel more alive

the food descriptions!!!!! reading this in the middle of the night is like... dang im getting hungry just reading abt it!! war flashbacks to kdrama eating scenes!!!

as usual, i have to mention the ad ost lmao all 3 seasons have such lovely theme songs

song yu with the tags slapped onto him: "cold love interest" "doting love interest" "devoted love interest"

yue zhishi: "cute protagonist" "weak protagonist"

but also they're such a deep, interesting spin on the whole "cute/weak shou" and "cold doting gong" archetype, zhichu rly rly rly writes so well, i felt it even from yybl (but also both translators for yybl n kagmy r both rly rly good as well, which contributes a lot to the reading experience). the way song yu is so cold and detached not just bc "his personality is like that" but bc he has to repress his feelings for yue zhishi, and how he's even losing sleep over it, but he won't ever say anything out loud bc he knows it's wrong... how yue zhishi is so so dependent on him, oblivious to his own feelings, how the initiative has to come from yue zhishi and yet song yu takes it upon himself to be responsible for "leading his little brother astray" but also yue zhishi won't let him take that responsibility alone!! the way i wanted them to be happy because both of them really deserve that happiness... sigh

there r just so many small moments that it's hard to describe in one piece. song yu and yue zhishi's relationship is built upon all of these small moments glittering like stardust, gathered up inside a crystal clear bottle. when exactly did they fall in love? these two probably don't even know it themselves, but before they realized it, the crystal bottle has been filled with so much glittering stardust, their precious memories etched on each fragment

the cute au where they meet for the first time but have long since fallen in love w each other from exchanging their letters, very wholesome very cute i even love its placement (2 chapters right before the very last extra) and how it ties in to the last extra... sigh again

i cried at the letter song yu wrote actually that entire sequence of them coming out to the parents broke my heart

the car scenes how can i not mention the car scenes, zhichu car scenes r absolutely 😔👌

as a whole, zhichu also writes with this... sort of hopeful tone. like, her version of reality is a very very gentle and hopeful one. she doesn't outright gloss over gay relationship as "gay marriage is legal now for plot convenience reasons" but she also treats it as like, something people will eventually accept. her books are honestly just very gentle and warm (even though kagmy has like this melancholic undertone throughout the text, which can't be avoided but also makes it a p heavy read despite the deceptive "slice of life childhood friend romance" plot)

also also that quote on the s3 ad banner art which is also a spoiler to the last sentence of the main story, which is also the reference of s1 theme song title...

mmh not quite dislike and also i understand why it's like that but like... the slow burn truly was slow, like glacially slow until they confessed n then things went Wild

❤ Flexes your art to all of his friends. He shows you off so much - he has so many pictures of your graffiti on his phone. He'll make his friends huddle around as he shows them your stuff. That's my girl, he says. You make him feel more badass, as if because he's with you, he's more deserving of the aura around his title as the SHSL Biker Gang Leader. He is so impressed by you - so in love. You make him feel powerful; wicked and sexy.

❤ He's surprised you even want to stick by him. He was loud and brutal and terrifying when the two of you were in class together. He liked you and that much was clear. He doesn't know how to act around girls he likes - he gets socially awkward and distant. Now, you laugh about it with him, but back then it genuinely would stress him out. You were patient with him. You liked him too, of course.

❤ That logo thing on his jacket - he'd want you to spray paint it somewhere.

❤ You have tags all around Japan. You're so recognizable - of course he knew about you before the two of you even met. He was like a complete fangirl when he realized who you were.

❤ Running from the police? Hop on, babe! Mondo will often just grab you by the back of the shirt and swing you onto his back before driving away.

❤ ^ His gang will drive circles around the police to distract them.

❤ Ah - at least now that he's dating you he doesn't have to worry about what to get you for Christmas. Spray paint cans. Easy.

Byakuya Togami

❤ Grinds his teeth when you come to his place uninvited. You're a criminal - who knows who could have been following you, and he doesn't want to Togami name to be tarnished. So, he'll put a good effort into hiding you away whenever you need it. Even though he'll be pissy and hark on you for always getting in trouble, his annoyance beats being thrown in jail (as if he wouldn't pay for you to be released even without probation anyway). You have such an upperhand compared to your competitors: you have Byakuya Togami >:).

❤ He hates the smell of graffiti - you know how people take off their shoes before they enter the house? He makes you change your whole outfit before he allows you inside.

❤ I think he just automatically sees you as being more tough than everybody else, so he tends to go a bit hard on you.

❤ ^ Will he stop? Depends on how kindly you ask.

❤ If the two of you ever get into an argument and he feels petty he'd probably hire someone to cover up your art lmfao.

❤ If he sees somebody else covering them up he's going to frame them as the vandal and get them charged.

❤ He's so supportive in getting you not arrested!

Gundham Tanaka

❤ Whenever he sends letters to the people who sponsor him, the people all over the world, he includes a little sticker of your work. He absolutely loves sharing it with people and talking about the details and the time it takes and just everything he knows about it. Whenever you stand around him while he cares for animals he forces you to tell stories about your inspiration and how it all started. He adores your art, but he adores your mind even more. What is it like to be in your brain (and to be able to love somebody like him - he's absolutely curious)?

❤ Okay but you must do some animal-related things. If you make it with a scary aura then that's even better.

❤ He will never actively support your Talent because he gets very worried about you being caught but when you have artist exhibits or present your art at festivals then he will be there and he will be your number one supporter.

❤ ^ You should make your iconic logo be some sort of animal so he can bring that animal and attract even more people.

❤ ^ The municipality office gives him permission to own any animal so go crazy.

Kazuichi Souda

❤ When the two of you went to school together, he was thrilled by you. Your whole attitude and your defiance was beautiful to him - you even paying attention to him made him feeling like a rule-breaker, too. His admiration was palpable and certainly was too your tolerance for him. Everything you said fell perfectly into his ears, it felt relieving to have somebody pay so much attention to you. He was always your alibi if you needed one - if the police came to your house while he was there then he would ruffle up your hair, suck on your neck, and make you put your shirt on backwards so it would look like you've been there the entire time.

They invite him over a lot, and you can't if it's because they genuinely like him or if they just want to see you. A bosozoku bar and its employees seem to love the both of you. They have a dart board, and Kazuichi isn't good at darts, definitely nowhere near the level you're at, so that's where you find yourself to be occupied, having fun beating him.

After placing on of your stickers outside on a pole, you push open the door and make a b-line to that dart board. Kazuichi trails behind you, as nervous around these people as usual. The men in the middle of their game notice you, smiling before whipping away the chalk from the wall and letting you take over. "Tough hand for a lady," they say. You just ignore them.

You give your boyfriend the pink darts. "If I win then you have to give me," you go to say five thousand but change your mind last minute, "one thousand yen."

His shoulders drop. "You always win."

"Then you better get your wallet ready."

❤ You match perfectly with his customers typical aesthetic. Souda gets a lot of clients who are general bikers - especially since he is a self-owned business and not necessarily mandated to report anything illegal he sees. And his aesthetic is rather appealing to people like those.

❤ When his customers see your stickers and your tags around his shop they are like ah yes, souda is a man of culture. And then you walk in and they're like jsdfbnsdjx !!!.

❤ Surrounding skate shops get close to his - a lot of alternative bars and clubs shout Souda out a lot.

❤ You give him a lot of different types of clients, certainly.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu

❤ You naturally drew to each other when you were in class. Outside of everybody else pushing you two together, the two of you could share jokes and experiences that nobody else would have been able to experience. He liked your sense of humor; he likes the way you speak about your art. You hold a passion for crime in a way that he doesn't. It's almost inspiring to see somebody so street smart yet so determined to continue living that lifestyle. He wonders if that mindset could become contagious.

He holds your hand in his, using a knife to pick out a splinter in your finger from when you had to crawl to escape a chase.

You keep your eye down on it, enduring the pain, trying not to flinch in fear that it'll make him mess up.

"I know it hurts," he whispers. The two of you stare down at your hand. His grip around you is gentle, he knows you're not going to pull away no matter how much it hurts. "You're doing such a good job."

You don't even realize when he pulls it out - you had been so distracted by his pleasing words, his soft tone had made your cheeks warm.

❤ You make his public image look even more badass. Though, when people learn that you have relations with the Yakuza, less and less go to your art exhibits in Japan - but it doesn't hinder your international popularity.

❤ Even though graffiti is still like not allowed - the fact that you're branded with the Yakuza makes your art even more prohibited to the general public; more feared.

❤ It almost comes as a warning sign rather than an artwork.

❤ Which doesn't bother you - it's a bit funny to watch grown men gasp and hide from a woman like you.

Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve shared WIps around here but I’m hoping to get back on my screeching horse. This is a bit from a piece I’m trying to write for @rosella-writes ​  Fingers crossed i’ll nail the Virelan/Solas/Elluin dynamic hehe.

"Oh, spare me the title," Elluin replied as the silence grew heavy and Solas turned to quietly ask a question she did not want to answer. The thought of speaking the hidden truth of her heart frightened her more than Solas' piercing gaze, and Elluin reached for the only way she knew to defend herself. "I licked your nipple, I think I deserve for you to call me by my name."

Mockery. A certain way to annoy Solas. Not the outcome she had planned for.

Solas sucked his teeth when Virelan huffed her amusement "Do not change the subject. Why are you here?"

Elluin flinched under his searching stare, his stormy eyes dusted with purple flecks digging through the flimsy barrier of dirty humour she had built to quell the onslaught of guilt and worry over Virelan's fate.

"Solas, she doesn't need a reason to be here. She can do what she wants." Virelan winced and propped herself up on her elbows to shift her position. Elluin rushed to her side, hands outstretched, ready to help her, but Virelan pushed forward until her head reached the headboard. She leaned against it, her eyes closed, the muscles of her jaw tense.

"No, she cannot. If the Inquisitor is not where her presence is required, the world will be in peril. If I recall correctly, Josephine warned you not to avoid today's assembly."

"Just because she's dodging a meeting, it doesn't mean the world will end."

"It is not about—"

"Solas, can't you cut me some slack?" Elluin snapped and took a few steps back to spare Virelan's ears from the rest of the loud words to follow. Vexed by Solas' insistence to yank the truth, she refused to acknowledge her fear, even when Virelan tilted her head to the right, harbouring a curious glint in her eye. "Maybe I'm just—maybe I'm tired of being in a room full of humans, and I want to be close to the people I love." Elluin moved closer to Virelan's bed when she let out another amused huff. "And maybe I'd like to hear you speak a few elvhen words in your dulcet voice."

Mockery. Again. How she managed to annoy Solas every time, Elluin didn't know.

I Want You Back (Part I)

Hello my friends! How are you? I decided to divide this topic into two parts and taking the first half of episode 16.

Thanks to my dear editor @destielle for take her time and betaed this mess! 😘💕

Here I will talk about how Dean's priorities change from the moment he discovers Cas is possessed by Lucifer.

Something like… 'Amara who?'

Let's check it out…

He wants so be saved

The first scene in the bunker in episode 15x15 shows us Dean trying to force the idea about Cas wanting to be saved to be true, just like the way when he came back from Purgatory without the angel and lied to himself to the point he altered his memories about what really happened.

Sam can sense his brother's feelings and concerns… pay attention to this dialogue…

Sam: Uh... don’t you think our plates are a little full? I mean it’s bad out there, Dean.

Dean: Yeah, Sam. You think I don’t know that? We’ve done nothing but mainline lore for a week, okay? We’ve got jack on another hand of God and Amara, and we’ve got even less jack on how to save Cas.

Sam: If he wants to be saved.

Dean: He does... even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Sam: Dean...

Dean: I’m burnt, man. Okay? And I need... WE need to get out of here. Let’s go stretch our legs.

Sam looks wearily at Dean.

Sam knows Castiel decided to do this because he wanted to be useful to the fight. Again, Sam and Cas share the same train of thought, opting for war decisions. It’s easy for Sam to understand Cas. But for Dean, the one in love with the angel, it’s really hard to believe. He can't wrap his head around the possibility of Cas saying yes to Lucifer on purpose or that he doesn’t want to be saved. He can't and he doesn't want to believe it. And the guilt inside of him because he didn't see these events coming is playing an important role in his despair. All he wants is his angel back...

Gunnar: Castiel mirror

They were set blatantly: Dean and his crush on Gunnar and Sam and his crush on Rio.

Playing with these two parallels at the same time in the same episode, we, as the audience searching for subtext, can see and talk about Bi!Dean easily.

That's why we have Gunnar winking at Dean and Rio seductively greeting Sam when they came out from the wrestling ring in two different scenes.

But that wasn't the only thing the writers wanted to show us by introducing Gunnar.

Gunnar was dressed in the color blue, so, when Dean faces him, we can interpret that as him facing Cas… watch this…

Gunnar: Sorry, kid. I don’t want to do this.

Dean: Oh, then don’t.

Gunnar: You say that like I got a choice. That guy out there, he’s a...

Dean: He’s a demon. I know. And I know about Hell and deals... all of it. What’s he got over you? You sold your soul, didn’t you?

Gunnar: Ten years ago, I wanted another shot at the belt; 50,000 people screaming my name. I was desperate and dumb.

Dean: But you only had the title for like a week.

Gunnar: Desperate and dumb.

Dean: Okay. Okay. Look, you screwed up, all right? Trust me. I’ve been there. But it is never too late to do the right thing.

Gunnar: You really believe that?

Dean: I have to.

Gunnar wanted to be the winner, the hero, just like Cas. Castiel wanted to be that hero on which Sam and Dean could rely on. And his despair led him to Lucifer. So Dean, emphatically, tries to give him hope because he totally understands, because he has ‘been there.' 

This is a piece of Dean Winchester's struggle. Dean has been there. He totally knows what it’s like to be desperate, and we can easily imagine him to be asking himself why Cas didn't come to him and talk about everything first. But also why he couldn’t see the signs of the bad shape Castiel was in. Why did Sam notice but not him? Not even when he saw him in the bunker and Casifer lightly suggested using Dean as bait? All of this is seething inside Dean. So when he finds Gunnar and hears his story of WHY HE HAD MADE A DEAL WITH A DEMON (just like Cas) it was as if he was seeing Cas in that story.

Learning a Lesson

The last scene in the episode is Sam and Dean talking about Gunnar and the conversation turning into a Cas-centric chat…

Sam: Are you okay?

Dean: Not even a little bit. Lawless was a good guy. He didn’t deserve to go out like that, you know?

Sam: Dean, you know what? He made a bad decision. We’ve been there.

Dean: Yeah, you, me, now Cas.

This is the confirmation of the assumption that Gunnar's behavior was a recall of Castiel's bad decision and that Dean was aware of it the whole time. So it’s confirmed: When he was talking to Gunnar it was a mirror for talking to Cas.

Sam: Dean, we’ll get him back. We will. We just got to…

Sam recognizes the symptomatology over there… everything is about Cas.

Dean: Keep grinding. No matter how much it hurts, no matter how hard it gets, you got to keep grinding.

Sam: Right.

Dean is talking, finally, with the pain carved into his heart, and Sam is there for him, listening to his brother confessing he's devastated because Cas made that bad decision and that he wants him back, and that he will keep fighting for it.

Dean: And that’s how we’re gonna win. And we’re gonna win. We’re gonna save Cas, we’re gonna ice the Devil and we’re gonna shank the Darkness. And anyone that gets in our way, well, God help them.

Sam: Damn right.

Dean: Damn right.

Dean learning his lesson, painfully, but he's okay, he can do this, Sam is there, and both of them will get Cas back.

Cas comes first

In the beginning of episode 11x16 'Safe House', Dean is worried about not having any clue about Cas and Amara, but Sam finds a case to make his brother focus on another topic. A distraction.

But the case ended up being one of Bobby's and Rufus’s old cases.

In the same way we have Dean focused on Cas and Sam focused on relocating that on another case, we have Bobby focused on the Apocalypse and Rufus focused on the house and the case.

The whole episode is like a war between what is more important: the Apocalypse (Cas) or the case.

There are handprints on the victims, mirroring the Destiel handprint. And we have a broken seal, mirroring Cain's mark.

BOBBY: The apocalypse is on the horizon, and you wanna hunt a damn ghost!

And this one here too…

BOBBY: Been burning the midnight oil. Last couple of weeks. Up for days. Lookin' for ways to stop the apocalypse. Lookin' for - anything. Sam and Dean are right in the middle of this thing. I'm worried about my boys, Rufus.

Bobby isn't sleeping, just like Dean. Because both of them are worried. One because of his familial love for his boys and the other one because of romantic love, as the writers will make that difference apparent in episode 11x17 'Red Meat', which I’ll be talking about in the next meta.

Finally, I want to talk about this dialogue before ending this analysis…

RUFUS: Hey, hey. Alright, okay. Papa bear. But you know more than anyone, Bobby. Even if we find a way to keep the world spinning, not everyone's going to be on that bus ride home. Sacrifice, greater good. All that jazz.

BOBBY: Yeah, I know.

The greater good, the war decision is making its appearance again. The Sacrifice, the path Castiel has chosen.

RUFUS: Oldest rule of hunting, Bobby. You can't save everyone.

So, Rufus (Sam mirror) talks about war decisions, and Bobby (Dean mirror) talks about his emotions (heart decision).

To conclude: 

Episode 11x15 brought us subtext for Bi!Dean, making a blatant parallel between Gunnar/Dean and Rio/Sam, their youth crushes.

Gunnar was mirroring Cas by making a deal with a demon to become a hero again.

Dean immediately related Gunnar's story to Castiel. So the words he said to him were the ones he wanted to say to Cas, if he had just seen the weight of Cas' despair.

Episode 11x16 was another parallel between Sam and Dean with Bobby and Rufus with the topic being ‘What comes first?’. To Dean, the answer is obvious: Castiel comes first, always.
