its crazy when you realize something you assumed was unremarkable is actually unique to your own culture. i.e having to rent the entire cabane à sucre for a family get together because your parents have 87 million aunts and uncles. turns out this only happens if youre from quebec and the catholic church threatened your great-grandparents with abuse and eternal damnation to force them to churn out babies constantly
