again i play so hard and fast with canon but for this one if i like, genuinly got something wrong then plz correct me theres a HIGH chance im getting her power set wrong but the point of this is more me taking like, the base bone of the concept and running with it lol

Just a quick like, how i think lucys magic should work bc im so annoyed shes technically the female lead and literally summons other things to fight FOR her So in my version (the better one) early lucy ONLY has star dresses She can basically give herself the attributes of each spirit, like the star dresses but she also gets a sort of themed weapon, like she gets tarus’ axe, cancers sissors etc. It isnt until lokes arc that shes able to physically summon her spirits Like i feel like summoning a whole spirit takes A LOT of magic so most of the time its more like a warlock patron situation where they lend her spells and if shit get real bad she can spend a high level spell to summon them to fight for her Like idk yea im using dnd terms with this but shhh it makes more sense to me It also makes things like her summoning all her spirits at once a HUGE deal, plus i think its the first time we physically see some of the spirits and also gives a bigger mystery to who they are and how celestial magic works Like i always found it weird how celestial wizards?? Exist?? but each only have 1 key so like?? Theres really only 2 celestial wizards at a time?? Like max there can be 12 but in the show we literally only have lucy and yukino and then like, angel, karen and lucys mom and idk thats kinda dumb Like if its that scarse that theres only 4 active celestial wizards in the WHOLE SHOW  idk thats weird and should be treated as a bigger deal So in my mind, each spirit can gift wizards a key, some of them stick to the lower level spirit key collecting, kinda like in the show, and MAYBE have 1 or 2 zodiac keys Zodiacs r notorious for being v fickle with who they enter contracts with and for the most part even if someone is a celestial wizard they can go their whole lives without ever summoning a zodiac spirit bc its just SO POWERFUL So lucy has low key imposter syndrome be she technically inherited her keys from her mom so she never had to prove herself worthy, which in my mind is y she tries so hard to get stronger and prove her place in fairy tail So based on all this i also think lucy just has a shit ton of magical potential due to growing up with the spirits and having such a strong bond with them and thats what allows her to summon all of them and the zodiac king to plead lokes case Idk i also dont love how the spirts serve lucy as like, a master servant thing So having the spirits be more like patrons feels better to me idk It also makes lucy like, an extremely powerful wizard bc she literally has so many zodiac keys but at first i think she give v jack of all trade master of none energy Her main one i feel would be aquarius bc its a less precise magic form of literally just throwing waves at her opponents BUT it takes a lot of magic bc aquarius is such a high level spirit who refuses to go easy on lucy just bc of her connection to her mom Lucy still has her whip bc idk i think its neat Throughout the series she learns oto be much more flexible and think more outside the box when it comes to her magic and she also grows more reckless, kinda a side effect from being around natsu so much and by the time she gets to the GMG she can probably summon her spirits no problem tho 2 at once is still hard like in the show Oo also also early lucy has problems accepting help from others BECAUSE she feels like shes constantly having to prove shes worthy of just,, existing, so she puts off summoning her spirits at all because of that too I think she works on that a LOT after phantom lord and lokes arc

🗽 looks like that’s JULIÁN VALDEZ reporting for duty. they’re originally from BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, so i wonder if working as a TECHNICIAN for the TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RESPONSE UNIT (TARU) ever gets old. anyway, i heard that they’re ATTENTIVE but also kind of ALOOF, which is why i guess they always remind me of THE GLOW OF A COMPUTER SCREEN, DARK CLOTHES, NIGHTS WITH TOO LITTLE SLEEP.

julián was born to two wonderful mothers in brooklyn, where the three of them lived for all of julián’s childhood, albeit moving around the neighborhood a few times.

his childhood was normal, or so he thought. two loving parents, public school, he had friends... but still, the two mothers thing somehow gave people ammunition for bullying him. and he was bullied, for a while and well into middle and high school. though, julián developed thick skin for it all. had to, when he realized his own truths in life. 

his mothers were both successful in their own right. son of a public relations consultant and a graphic designer, julián grew up with an appreciation of both appearances and aesthetics. his mother, a graphic designer, worked with computers and was really the gateway for julián’s subsequent knack for computers.

by age twelve, thanks to his proximity with computers, he’s already familiar with most technological things. he had to be, in order to outsmart his moms when it came time to use the family computer, to override passwords and locks. to hide browsing history.

still, these were childish offenses. julián was definitely instilled with a strong sense of right and wrong as a child... but, as it turned out, not with a very good radar in the gray areas of it all. 

this comes to a head once julián becomes a hacker in his spare time when he’s 15 and gifted his first personal computer.

after that slippery slope into testing his limits and finding ways to get into secure locations.

he falls in with the right crowd on the wrong side of the law. his friends are punks, just like julián is. they’re hackers, too --- but more than that, they’re hacktivists, using their skills to right wrongs in the world.

after a while of running with the crowd, of making them his new family, despite his loving one at home, it becomes a slipperier slope.

at first, it’s all for fun. then small rights in the world, outing big companies’ records.

then comes the stealing. the redistribution of wealth. the taking for their own gain. the world becomes twisted. julián knows well enough to know that it isn’t right.

and it all ends, as good and bad things do. only, julián is the one who drops the dime on his own crew. he rats them out. but --- it’s only the organizers. the big wigs in their group. it goes sideways. falls flat when he gets arrested, too.

only, in interrogation, they know about him. they know julián was the one who told on them. so, they offer him an out, a job. a job he can’t refuse, a job he doesn’t mind taking. one with TARU.

for a while, they keep an eye on him. make sure he’s on their team.

and jules is, of course, always on the side of doing good. but every now and again, he feels the calling to the other side. feels the need to skirt around the laws, get places where he shouldn’t be.

and lately? lately, that call’s been getting louder. slope’s been getting slipperier.

only time will tell about julián, now.

hacktivist friends: i have a connect for this on the main but pls! this could be so interesting, given julián’s complicated history with his hacktivist group! could be older members who left when things were getting bad with the group or members who were there with jules while things escalated --- and they could know about julián’s deception or not! see, that’s fun

brooklyn pals: julián has lived his entire life in new york but only in brooklyn until he was 18. so this person would’ve known him in elementary school... middle school... high school.... and it would’ve been a kind of whiplash to now see him working for the nypd, i think. fun times!

gonna be putting this on the main as proper wanted connect but the cop who saved him: this is a connection for the cop who offered him a way out of the charges he was facing when he was in his early 20s. would’ve been 10ish years ago so they’d be 40ish now but that’s literally all the criteria.

non-tech friend: i just think it’d be cute if jules had a friend who doesn’t know a lot about computers but needs to learn because the world is becoming more tech-heavy. so this would basically be someone he’s tutoring in computers, kind of? helping them check their email, use their phone, even turn on their computer. all of that stuff! in return, they can help get julián off the internet for more than two hours at a time smh.

other than that, hookups, exes, flings, etc.: julián is gay, no way around it. he’s known most his life and was never really in the closet about it because... he had two moms! he didn’t really need to hide! also, he’s lived his entire life in new york, first 18 years in brooklyn and last 13 years in manhattan. he’s sure to have had a flurry of flings in that time and i’m open to literally... Anything. angst, fluff, missed connections.. ongoing flings is also an option. just gimme things!

friends!: self explanatory! jules is a private person but once he warms up to you, he’s unshakable. kind of like a cat in his affections as a friend!

Rising Tides Rising Tensions Chapter 7: Making Plans

           “Well,” Octavio asked, concluding his explanation of his plan. “What do you think?”

           “It sounds risky, your majesty,” Mister Snow said with a frown.

           “But effective!” General Kaminari slapped the table. “And if we play our cards right, his majesty will be in no danger at all, he wouldn’t even have to be anywhere on site!”

           “We wouldn’t even need to do this if Captain Umi had managed to take any of the rebels prisoner at the ball. Instead, she just let them all get away.” Lady Doi spoke up, crossing her arms.

           “She did her best,” Octavio said in an attempt to calm her irritation, and stop Kaminari from snapping at her, “No one expected the rebels to show up, and she was more concerned with me and Craig.”

           “Thank you, your majesty.” Kaminari nodded at him. “But, back to the topic at hand, where would we spring this trap of his majesty’s?”

           “What about the mountain retreat? People would be expecting it; royal couples do frequently hold get togethers there in the early days of their engagement.” Octavio stood from his chair and began to pace at the head of the table. “We make it look like we’re badly guarded and away from everything. A prize the rebels wouldn’t be able to resister.” Octavio paused and looked at the council members. “Are we in agreement?”

           “Good.”

           The plan quickly came together, and it was time for the “royal couple” to head on up. Those in the palace knew that they were leaving that day, those outside had been told they weren’t leaving for another week. What even most inside the palace didn’t know yet, was that Craig and Octavio weren’t in the car preparing for their trip, but instead in disguise in the crowd. Octavio among his own troops and Craig among a small group of inklings visiting to discuss strategy for dealing with the Salmonids. Another small thing to try to calm nerves.

           Craig looked around, hat pulled low over his eyes. He was nervous, which was a bit ridiculous, all was going well. He supposed it was just how much was riding on this going right. He looked up slightly as they prepared to open the gates, looking around, wondering where Octavio was, who all in the crowd knew the truth, and many other questions he really should have asked earlier. Too late now he supposed, as a grinding noise alerted him that the gates were in motion. Until they stopped.

           Everything was deafeningly silent until shouting began. Craig stumbled back, realizing that the rebels were attacking. ‘Well, I guess that’s almost what we wanted,’ Craig thought, looking around, for a weapon or anything to defend himself with. Instead he found Commander Yuko, forcing his way through the crowd and dragging him toward the palace. On their way, Yuko pulling another Octoling, probably Octavio, from Captain Umi, before speeding up. Captain Umi grabbed after him, a flash of irritation across her normally cheerful face before she was swallowed up in the chaos.

           Commander Yuko dragged them through the palace, Octavio’s hat falling off in the rush, and Craig getting completely lost. Eventually he stopped at a section of wall, letting go of Octavio’s arm to hit it, causing a panel to swing open. Pushing them both inside, he ordered them to “stay here and stay quiet,” before closing the panel and rushing off.

           “What the? Where are we?” Craig asked, looking around.

           “Hidden safe room. Ones like it are scattered across the palace. Very few know all their locations.” Octavio slid down the wall and Craig turned to find him shaking, silent tears streaming down his face.

           “Tavi?”

           “How could this have gone so wrong? I was trying to protect people and now?” Octavio trailed off, burying his face in his hands.

           “Tavi, look at me. Please?” Craig gently shook Octavio until he looked up at him. “It’s not your fault. You said it yourself, those rebels want a war, they aren’t going to be stopped without conflict. And the soldiers knew what they were getting into. They were trained for this.”

           “I’m, I guess you’re right,” Octavio wiped his face of tears, “thank you.”

           “No problem. So, how long do you think we’re gonna be in here?”

           “A while. They have to beat the rebels, deal with any prisoners they might take, get medical staff dealing with any injuries, sweep the palace to make sure they’ve got everyone, and if anything happens to Yuko, actually find us.”

           “Oh.”

           “Yeah. Well, might as well look around.”

           The room was small, shelves lining the wall, containing nonperishable food, some basic medical supplies, cups and bowls, two empty pitchers, some dusty boxes, and some cushions. They debated opening the boxes but ended up moving one without a decision.

           “Well, even if we are in here a while, we should be fine.”

           “Yeah. Though, I’m not sure how long this one has been stocked,” Octavio’s voice shook slightly, and Craig turned to see his eyes watering. “Sorry. I don’t even know why I’m…”

           “It’s okay. You don’t have to explain.” Craig grabbed a pair of cushions off the shelves, getting Octavio to sit down on one and sitting down on the other. Wrapping an arm around his shoulders, he leaned back with Octavio against him, singing quietly.

           “Hey, I think I remember you singing that before. What is it?”

           “Calamari Inkantation. Folk song from back home.”

           “It’s… magical.”

           “You should hear it sung by actual musician.”

           “Maybe someday,” Octavio laughed, standing up, and going over to the shelves again. “I’m gonna open one of the boxes. See what’s in it.”

           “If you want to. I ain’t risking some critter biting me.”

           Octavio only snickered, pulling at the tape to get it open. “Let’s see. Few more medical things, bottle of ink, ohh wasabi sauce.”

           “What is with your obsession with wasabi?”

           “What’s with your obsession with crabby cakes?”

           “Crabby cakes are delicious.”

           “If you say so. Wasabi is a cultural staple, few Octarians don’t like the stuff. Hey cards. Wanna play?”

           “Sure, what game?”

           “Go fish? Don’t wanna think too hard.”

           The pair played off and on, Octavio losing most games, spending the rest of the time in silence, growing tired. Eventually the pair put the cards away, just waiting, sitting side by side. Craig leaned against the wall, humming to himself and Octavio lay curled up on a pair of cushions, the only thing revealing him to be awake was his eyes, constantly flashing up to look at him. Both shook out of their stupor as hurried footsteps made themselves known, the entrance to their room swinging open to Commander Yuko’s concerned face.

           “Are you two alright?” He asked, looking down at them.

           “Yeah. Tired, but fine. Situation?”

           “No causalities, at least on our side. We managed to take several rebels prisoner for interrogation. Few soldiers are now parents, but overall, considering how things started, everything went quite well.”

           “Good, good. I’m guessing the council will want to meet before I can go to sleep?”

           “With both of you.”

           “Very well, let’s go.” Octavio stood up, pulling Craig to his feet. The pair followed behind Commander Yuko, looking around. A few ink stains here and there, and a tapestry had been cut in half, but things didn’t look bad.

           Inside the council room, things weren’t too bad either. Mister Snow and Lady Doi were both covered in dust, and a woman Craig didn’t know looked to be asleep. General Kaminari seemed to be in the worst shape, kneeling on the floor with bandages around her head, kneeling in front of a tub of ink, something wiggling inside. Guess she was one of the new parents.

           “Good, your majesty, your highness. Well now that we’re all here we can begin.” Taru, Craig thought his name was, said. He wondered who the second person they were addressing was before realizing it was him. They were addressing him.

           “Now, first things first, Azura will need to go on parental leave. We need a substitute. Who?”

           “Commander Yuko is the most obvious choice, he is her right hand.” Lady Doi waved her hand in his direction.

           “Very well, all in favor?”

           Mumbled agreement rang out and Yuko bowed his head, before sitting down on Octavio’s other side. Taru gestured for him to speak and he cleared his throat.

           “I’m afraid it seems the rebels have a spy. Not only did they know they were leaving today, they knew the King in the car was a fake. Didn’t even bother going for him.” People snapped awake at his words, even Kaminari who had seemed to be entirely oblivious to everything going on outside that tub of ink. “We are investigating the situation, however it will take time. In the meanwhile, I recommend we up security in the palace. We cannot risk them harming the King or his fiancé.”

           “How? We barely have enough soldiers as it is?” Mister Snow demanded.

           “We do what we should have done months ago. The Great Octoweapon project.” The silent woman suddenly opened her eyes, looking around.

           “What, Sapphire you can’t be serious.”

           “Why ever not? It would be effective, and you said it yourself, we barely have enough soldiers, it would fix the problem.”

           “Enough.” Octavio stood, adopting his ‘council voice’ and Craig sat up, a jolt going down his spine. “We’re all exhausted, and no offense you two, but Snow, Doi, you both need showers. We will discuss this in the morning. Dismissed.”

           Octavio stood up and walked out, Craig quickly following behind him. “Hey, before you go to sleep, can we talk?”

           “Sure.”

           The pair headed towards Craig’s room. Once there, Octavio looked around, before asking “What did you want to talk about?”

           “I just.. I wanted to make sure you were okay.” Craig sat down at his desk chair, watching as Octavio sat on the edge of his bed.

           “I’m fine. Really. You?”

           “Confused I guess.”

           “About what?”

           Craig bit his lip slightly before speaking up. “What are the ‘Great Octoweapon plans’ that that lady mentioned?”

           “The Great Octoweapons plan was the idea to create giant machines, controlled by tentacle cutting, they would be fully autonomous, able to take down foes it would take multiple squadrons of Octarians to take out. Problem is, the plan is more than slightly controversial. It would take a hefty amount of resources, and people worry what might happen if they went rouge.”

           “Oh.”

           “Yeah.”

           “Well, I mean, I guess it makes sense to me. Before you go, do you want those clothes I borrowed back?”

           “I guess?”

           “They should be in the bathroom, I’ll go get them.” Craig stood, and walked into the attached bathroom. Looking around, it took him a while to find them, during which time he got ready to go to sleep.

           Coming out, Craig found Octavio had fallen asleep where he had been sitting on his bed. He walked over, reaching down to gently trace his jaw with a finger, small smile on his face. He looked so peaceful, he couldn’t bring himself to wake him. The bed was big enough to share, he guessed. With that thought, he gently maneuvered Octavio farther onto the bed so he wouldn’t fall off, before crawling in next to him. He lay down and let the quiet sound of Octavio breathing lull him to sleep.

Hmm...years and years ago I went to a winter retreat with friends and on the last night it was tradition to play one last game of a mixture of hockey and soccer. As we ran on the ice with our snow boots, as we hit a ball into a goal with pathetic looking hockey sticks. As there was a tie, I was at a stale mate with another person as we tried to get the ball to hit anywhere towards our destination as we were on opposite sides of the team. As I was on the defensive and was defending well enough that th girl forgot to not swing the hockey stick too high in risk of injuring someone. That someone was me, as she swung it high enough she whacked me a good one to my left eye that i fell head first onto the ice, until I got my bearings and told everyone that I was fine and we should continue the game. 

As I was fine with a mixture of selfishly continue playing/not wanting to concern others/ showing off how tough I was. Yeah I was pretty dumb, but my team won. Anyway by the end of it holding some ice to my eye, with the beginnings of a black eye or a shiner. That was my nickname at the end of the trip which was shiner as everyone who went gets some dumb nickname from whatever they did on the trip.

I simply liked the word jolly as its super fun to say and makes me think of robin hood/ I honestly needed an reminder to stay positive or jolly. As I can get really stuck in my head sometimes and need to remind myself to smile more.
