If someone made a Top 10 List of the most socially awkward people in Johnny’s... I would probably be Top 1. Hey, at least I’m number 1 at something right? The only thing comforting me right now in this situation is the smell of home-cooked food, the sound of neighbor dogs barking, the warm-feeling in this common Japanese home, and the presence of my girlfriend who’s right beside me. But aside from that, the ONE thing that’s THE MOST uncomfortable thing in this room is...

Her parents are right. in. front. of. me.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by the sound of his dad clearing his throat. “So, I know this might be a bit uncomfortable...”, he hung off his words. You bet it was uncomfortable. “But welcome to our home!”, he smiled and I bowed, thanking them for having me. Her mother set the hotpot down and she signaled us to eat up, “Go ahead and eat!”, she smiled and we all gladly took parts from the hotpot. Munching down on the delicious food, her father started to have a conversation with me.

“So since when have you two been dating?”, he asked. “Dad, you know that.”, Y/N answered and was immediately hushed by her father. “Shh, maybe I forgot.” he joked and I laughed, just for the sake of it. “We’ve been dating for about 6 months now, Sir.” I replied and he hummed, nodding his head.

“Where do you work?”, he asked. “Honey, you already know that.”, her mom playfully hit his arm and he chuckled, taking a sip from his drink. “I am working as an idol in Johnny’s Talent Agency.”, I replied, gulping and feeling nervousness from his reaction. 

“So you must have more than a thousand girls and boys drooling over you, huh?”, he chuckled and I shook my head, smiling. “You even got my daughter under your spell.”, he chuckled and Y/N rolled her eyes, “Dad, it’s not just about looks, okay? I like Ryosuke’s personality the most.”, she argued and her dad laughed. “Sure, sure.”, he replied. My heart beat wild for when she mentioned that she loved my personality the most and my cheeks quickly flushed red.

“Are you okay, Yamada-san?”, her mother sounded concerned. “I’m totally fine, the hotpot is just really hot”, I laughed, taking my cup of cold water and taking a drink.

“So have you done IT with my daughter yet?”

QUEUE SPITTING OF WATER. I choked on the water on the word of her father which seemed like a simple question for him as he was munching away on his food, not minding the fact that it was a super uncomfortable situation. “Honey, that’s a bit too far.”, her mom, the saving grace, playfully hit her dad’s shoulder. “Yeah, maybe so.”, he chuckled and apologized for the question. 

The rest of dinner was a mix of uncomfortable conversations and really fun ones too. I learned that her dad and I had a lot of things in common and we ended up getting along eventually. Her mother was fun and bright too, a smile never seemed to leave her face.

Eventually, dinner was over and it was time for me to leave. “I’m sorry but I think I’ll head first.”, I said. Her parents frowned, not in a disappointed way though, and began to walk me to the door. “We wouldn’t mind if you stayed.”, her mom smiled.

And on that note, a thunder struck and rain started to pour hard outside. The four of us were in shock as to how on point that timing was. “Yamada-san, do you have a car?”, her dad asked and I shook my head no to that. Dipshit Daiki had to borrow it. It took a while for them to reply until Y/N said the most shocking thing ever.

“It’s pretty late, you should sleep here.”

And all at the same time, her dad choked on his own breath, her mom had a smile that spread across her face, and I...

Was losing my shit.

“You know, Y/N has always been someone who never leaves their family behind.”, her dad chuckled and then taking a sip from his mug of alcohol. I decided to pass on drinking since I didn’t think her dad would be delighted to see a drunk Yamada yet. “I’ve realized that, sir”, I replied. 

“I-I just can’t believe that she’s leaving us now.”, he said, a little teary-eyed. At that point, I didn’t understand why she would leave her family. “Why would she leave you, sir?”, I politely asked. “You know all those people who fall in love with someone and want to live with them and leave their family behind?”, he said. “But Y/N is so much better than them, Sir.”, I defended Y/N.

“I can tell just by looking at your expressions while talking about her that you are madly in love with my daughter.”, he chuckled.

Heat started to pile up in my cheeks and redden. “I’m glad there are still men like you these days who don’t treat their girls like shit.”, he took a sip from his mug. “You know what, I’m going to be completely honest with you.”, he hung off the sentence and I properly faced him, feeling the pressure in my body build up as I was nervous at what he was about to say. “I think you’re fit to be my daughter’s partner.”, he smiled and my chest was relieved from the pressure.

“Y/N’s not perfect you know,”, he said, “she has her ups and downs but I hope you, out of all the confused men out there, will understand her and love her even when she is a rocky road to drive on.”, he continued, and I nodded, pursing my lips and then grinning.

“I’ll make sure that it’s a fun and safe ride for the both of us in this relationship, sir. Will you trust me on this?”, I said with a hint of courage.

“Of course, son.”, he confidently said and instantly with those three words,

all trust was put on me.

“Really? What did he say?”, Y/N hummed as she was getting ready to go to bed. “He trusts me with you.”, I smiled and hugged the pillow closest to me. She smiled and stood up from her dresser and then faced me. “Ahh, bad decision...”, she joked and we both laughed. “Hey what did you say?” I teased and stood up approaching her. “What, I said nothing.”, she playfully teased and avoided me by running the other way.

“No, no, you definitely said something.”, I followed her and she giggled, “I said that I love love love love,”, she hung off her words as she avoided me once again. “my dog.” she continued and I ran after her. I chased her around her room, laughing and giggling from all the teasing.

I finally caught up to her and wrapped my arms around her, making us fall onto her bed. I cradled her in my arms, looking only into her eyes and then tucking a stray strand of hair off her face and behind her ear. My hand found its way to cup her chin and she smiled. “So tell me, was it a bad choice?”, I teased.

“No, it was the best choice.”

she giggled and brought her hand up to cup my face and bring me closer. Our lips were about to touch until we heard her father barge in. “Hey Yama-chan, let’s--”

RETREAT. RETREAT. ABORT MISSION.

And we both retreat to our separate beds to pretend like we were sleeping. “Oh... he’s asleep already. Oh well.”, her father shrugged and left the room. When I knew he was in a safe distance already, I stretched a hand over to her bed. “What are you doing?”, she mumbled. “Since we can’t kiss in your parents’ house, can you at least hold my hand?” I cheekily smiled and she took my hand in her warm one. I gently kissed it and we both fell asleep with hands intertwined and lips curved into a smile.
