Head Canon AU Mulder and Scully as Archeologist and Scientist at a dig in ruins in the Amazon.

Anon! Thank you so much. I saw this this morning and got that rare inspiration wherein I launched myself at this, and kind of love what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it! (It is unbeta-ed)

1. The University was being cheap. That was the first thing. Piggybacking off the hard work he’d put in: years worth of toil to arrange this meticulously set-up dig. If they wanted to send a team to study advanced medical uses of the vast biome of the Amazon rainforest, they’d do far better sending this approaching medical team into the interior. His team -- his dig -- was practically on the outskirts. The forest around them had already been explored and researched, catalogued and referenced. The real biological finds -- the cures for Alzheimer’s, cancer -- would be found in the unknown, in those places even the aboriginal people hadn’t stepped. The University was being cheap, plunking in a science team on a completely separate mission with his own, just to save some cash. That was the bottom line.

If it hadn’t been so oppressively hot so early in the morning, he might not have been quite so irritated. As it was, he stood on the bank of the river and ran an already sweat-soaked handkerchief over the back of his neck, willing the putting little outboard Evinrude to chug a little more quickly upstream. It was hot and stiflingly humid, and he’d wanted to be at the dig two hours ago, before the heat of the day set in. Too late, that.

The incoming medical team -- if you could call it a team -- seemed to consist of only one person. A short-statured wisp of a woman (if the high, top-knotted messy red bun was any indication of sex) who sat low in the backseat of the approaching riverboat, surrounded by expensive-looking boxes filled with technology that probably wouldn’t operate well in the humidity. He blew an irritated raspberry and shuffled his feet in the muddy squelch of the riverbank.

The stout block of the driver hefted a rope at Mulder as they approached, which Mulder caught easily and wrapped around a nearby tree.

“Tudo vai bem?” Mulder inquired as the man cut the engine and grunted an affirmative.

The passenger stood, keeping a hand on the side of the little tin vessel, its stern fishtailing out into the current. Mulder stepped up and held out a hand, which she grasped gratefully. He pulled and she took a confident leap, landing lightly on the ground next to him.

“Dr. Mulder, I presume?” she said on a light breath, looking up at him with a small smile, having to crane her neck to do so. She had astonishingly blue eyes, a color he’d only seen once, in an ice-cave in the far north. He shook his head after a moment and realized that he was still holding her hand. He dropped it, nodding.

“I thank God, doctor, I have been permitted to see you,” she finished, quoting the journals of Henry Morton Stanley.

Mulder outright laughed. He was smitten immediately.

2. “Be careful with that!” she’d barked, as Langly handed out her equipment to a couple of waiting locals that had been working on the project for three years.

Mulder held up a calming hand.

“You’re working with archeologists, Dr. Scully,” he said softly, “my team has the gentlest hands in the Southern Hemisphere.”

She quirked one side of a grin at him even as she threw a worried look over her shoulder at her equipment.

“Come on,” he said, giving her sleeve a gentle tug, “let me show you around.”

He showed her the latrine first, watching her face carefully for a reaction, but she just nodded nonchalantly and kept walking. Then the mess, and the tent where she’d be working when she wasn’t in the field.

“And this,” he said, taking her to an empty patch of jungle, “is where your bunk will be. My apologies that it’s not set up. There’s no female barracks and we were told you wouldn’t be here until next week. The radio communique we got this morning informing us of your arrival came as something of a surprise.”

“I’m eager to get started,” was all she said in response.

Mulder walked on and she followed him.

“I’m afraid the only empty cot is in my tent,” he said sheepishly. “Dr. Byers headed home for a funeral last month and we’re not expecting him back until March. I’ll be sure yours is set up right away, but takes some time as we have to build a platform first. Have you done jungle field work before?”

“I flew here from Borneo,” she said. “It’s not a problem.” With that, she flipped back the tent’s outer curtain and ducked inside like she owned the place.

She never did move out.

3. Scully’s father had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and hadn’t lived long enough to see her graduate from medical school. She would not let it happen to anyone else if she could help it, she’d said. She worked like a woman possessed.

Against all advice, she would march into the jungle alone and be gone for days at a time. When her grad students finally arrived, they couldn’t keep up with her, and she’d frequently leave them at base camp to work on the equipment (which, Mulder was not really that pleased to report, did have a tendency to malfunction in the miasmic humidity and heat of the Amazon basin. It wasn’t, he admitted, that easy always being right). Occasionally she could be talked into taking one of the local hires with her, but she felt bad taking workers that Mulder’s project funding paid for, and anyway, they weren’t trained in her science, she would tell him.

“I wish you wouldn’t go out on your own,” he murmured into the cup of her ear one night, a trickle of sweat running from her hairline and onto the tip of his nose.

She turned on the cot, a feat, considering its fairly narrow dimensions, and pressed her forehead against his, the flimsy pillow damp beneath them both.

“I’m careful,” she whispered, and threw a leg over him, her dewy mons pressing into the naked flesh of his thigh.

“It’s not safe-” he began to protest, but she’d captured his lips with her own and he fell headlong into the lush heat of her -- whatever concern that had been on the tip of his tongue lost to her rapacious mouth as it trailed a slick path down his torso and latched, vitae and greedy, around the rigid length of him. It was bliss. She was bliss. If he had ever thought he knew love, he was wrong.

4. The whole camp knew they were together. Her tent had become a kind of catchall storage area, and it’s not like nylon canvas could contain the breathy moans of their pleasure. That and she’d just plunk down and sit on his lap whenever the only camp chair available around the mess tent was the one with the tricky leg.

Anyway, what happened in the field stayed in the field, unless it was up for peer review.

“Are you guys going to get married or something?” Mulder’s newest grad student asked one night when the air had actually cooled enough to take the edge off of everybody’s temper. Beer had arrived with their latest resupply and Frohike had syphoned off some LN2 to cool it and it was frosty and rich and maybe the best thing Mulder had ever tasted aside from Scully’s skin.

Scully, from atop his lap, merely shrugged and took a leisurely sip of brew. Mulder pictured it sliding down her throat, the cold blooming into her belly and he dry swallowed, then leaned forward and kissed her shoulder.

“God, don’t be such a newb,” drawled Langly, pressing his glasses into his face compulsively.

Mulder knew what Langly meant. They’d all seen their share of field romances that fizzled the second your boots stepped back onto University soil, though something about Scully felt different; the way their minds worked together, the way she felt in his arms.

“I’m married to the job, bro,” Scully said, but reached back and squeezed the skin just above Mulder’s hip. He kissed her shoulder again.

“D’you tell her about the helo data?” Frohike asked, looking at Mulder from his own camp chair. The little man sat low and back in it with his shoulders hunched up, and Mulder thought he looked a bit like a toad, or an ogre guarding a burial mound.

They’d gotten the funding from a billionaire alumni to fly a helicopter over the whole of the basin in this sector of the Amazon, using light detection radar. Basically, it shot out billions of lasers as it flew overhead that were able to penetrate the rainforest’s canopy and map the landscape below.

“You had a chance to analyze it?” Scully asked, craning her head to look at him squarely.

He nodded, smiling. He’d been saving this to tell her especially.

“And you were able to combine it with the satellite data?” she asked, excited.

He nodded again. “Sóis,” he said, smiling. The settlements they’d found took their name from the Portuguese word for ‘suns.’ They were round villages, all with remarkably similar layouts, with elongated mounds circling a central plaza. When seen from above, they looked like the rays of the sun. “Pre-Columbian.”

She jumped off his lap, spilling half her beer in the process. It dripped down the bare skin of her knee, unnoticed.

“Are you kidding?!” her excitement made him giddy.

“It gets better,” he said, and she cocked her head, waiting for him to elaborate. “They’re laid out like the cosmos,” he said, giving her a full-watt smile as he rose out of the chair to stand in front of her. “We’re already plotted three different villages, all laid out in the exact design of southern constellations.” Her mouth dropped open. “Canis Major, Hydra, and Crux Australis.”

She launched herself into his arms, practically squealing -- something he’d never heard her do -- and he held her, looking around at the smiling faces of the other scientists in the mess. The find would make his career, and her excitement for him touched him profoundly.

5. Martim, one of their local hires, came careening into camp, breathing so hard he had to put his hands on his knees to catch his breath. His face was a mask of anxiety and fear. Mulder felt dread bloom in his gut, and he dropped what he was doing -- actually dropped the computer tablet he was holding to the wet forest floor -- and ran over to the man, grasping him firmly by the shoulder.

“Martim?” he said, “O que aconteceu?”

“Dr. Scully,” the man heaved, his accent thick. He could still scarcely breathe.

“Where is she?” Mulder didn’t have the emotional wherewithal to translate from English. “What happened?”

“Hurt,” the man wheezed, “she’s hurt.”

It took nearly thirty minutes to assemble a rescue party, and they had to let Martim rest for a bit and give him food and water before he could take them back out into the jungle where he’d left Scully. Mulder was beside himself by the time they finally started off, impatient as a recalcitrant child, sick to his stomach with worry.

It took three hours to hack into the area where she’d been doing her search, and a further twenty minutes of calling her name before they heard her weak call back.

Mulder raced ahead without thought to obstacle or danger, and skidded to a halt when he was practically on top of her. She was leaning back against the base of a large tree, holding onto her right ankle, which she had elevated on her left knee. There was a length of rope beside her and a climbing harness around her butt and waist.

“Scully,” he panted, falling to his knees beside her.

She smiled at him weakly, her face pale and sweaty.

“I think it’s broken,” she hissed, pointing at her ankle.

“What happened?” Mulder asked, as the rest of the rescue party trundled in behind him, pulling off backpacks and other equipment. Someone handed Scully a bottle of water.

“I saw a fungus I’d never seen before growing on the bark midway up this tree,” she said after guzzling half a bottle of Arrowhead. “The carabiner failed on my descent.”

“Oh, Scully,” Mulder said, reaching out to tuck a damp lock of titian hair behind her ear.

“I got the sample, though,” she said with a tired, but victorious glint in her eye.

They weren’t back into camp until well after nightfall.

Mulder picked her up from the field stretcher and carried her into their tent, depositing her gently onto her cot. Langly came in behind him and handed him two fresh cold packs before ducking back out without a word. Mulder popped them to activate the chemicals and pressed them gingerly on either side of Scully’s ankle.

“I’m going to call for a medical evac,” he said quietly.

“Don’t you dare,” she said, grabbing at his hand and squeezing it. “Mulder, don’t you fucking dare.”

“Scully, we’ve got to follow protocol here,” he said, trying not to sound put out.

“Do not take me out of the field, Mulder. Promise me.”

“Scully-”

“Promise me!”

“How will you even work?” he said a little desperately.

“It doesn’t need setting or surgery,” she said, gesturing to her injured limb.

“How do you know that without an X-ray?”

“I’m a medical doctor,” she said, by way of explanation, “I can secure it with supplies we have on hand. I can work from my cot for a few days and make crutches out of tree limbs. Please, Mulder,” she said, and he could feel himself relenting, even if it would get him in trouble. “Please.”

He sighed, and she smiled up at him weakly, though he didn’t say a thing.

“Thank you,” and closed her eyes, relaxing into her pillow, “thank you.”

Six weeks later the canvas of their tent ripped back and the greenish glow of leaf-filtered sunlight shone into the murky, damp depths. Mulder rose from where he was resting on his cot and looked to the entrance. Scully stood there, armpit resting on her improvised crutch, her hair a rich autumn frizz around her head. Her eyes were wide and shining, and there was something incandescent about her in that moment -- an energy pulsing from her that lit his soul from within.

“Scully-” he started, but she held up a hand to silence him. Her hands were shaking.

“I found it,” she said, her voice breathy with the triumph of discovery, “Mulder, I found it.”

Danny mentally went over the list in his head, arms too full of stuff to actually pull it out of his pocket at the moment. He had gotten the regular shopping out of the way, and was now working his way though the upper level of the mall, searching for Christmas gifts the one day he could get away from those sneaky brothers.

He had already gotten a variety of gag gifts and weird oddities the twins were sure to enjoy at Spencer's, and a new Christmas sweater for Sam; after some deliberation, a matching one for himself, as well. Their mothers were sure to enjoy it.

It was hard to know what exactly to give when they already had most things they could want, but Danny still tried to be thoughtful and give nice things to the people that meant the most to him.

New boots, a watch, and an engraved harmonica for Jake? Check.

A vintage fur coat for Josh? Yep, and surprisingly cheap.

Books for all three Kiszka's? Yes, as well as some parchment, ink, and quills for Joshie - it was one of those random finds that hadn't been on his radar of gift ideas, but as soon as he saw them he knew Josh would love them.

All that was left was Sammy. His best friend (now lover, too) always seemed to be both the easiest and worst to shop for. He was picky, so picky that, even after all these years, Danny could rarely be 100% sure that he'd like his gift.

He went in and out of every store, desperately searching for *something* that Sam didn't already have, and that he would appreciate receiving.

Nothing.

Not a single item that would be a good fit to give his new-ish boyfriend, not even a cool pair of sunglasses to just fill put some space in his gift bag.

Danny sighed, deciding to fuck the mall and go Amazon it in the comfort of their bed. But, just as he was heading towards the exit, something caught his eye.

A blue something - pale, like a robin's egg, but speckled with small, shimmering beads instead of brown splattered spots. It was a lacy bra, hanging several racks in inside of a Victoria's Secret.

Danny stopped and stared at it, considering. Sam had said.... Sam had said that he would wear whatever Danny bought him. It had been nearly two months, and, while they had definitely had sex many, many times since then, none of the lingerie items had made another appearance. Sam hadn't even mentioned it again after that day, instead only shooting Danny the occasional meaningful look that he interpreted as "Well? I'm waiting, it's on you to continue this."

He took two steps forward, but stopped just before entering onto the lighter tiles of the store's entrance. Would Sam actually like this as his Christmas present, instead of other stuff - namely, things he could actually tell their family he got?

Danny turned and was about to walk away, but then spun around for just one last look at the bra. It was so, so pretty, and would look so, so good against Sam's tanned skin; he could envision his lover perfectly in that little blue piece, coyly teasing Danny as he ran his hands over his lacy chest.

He took in a sharp breath and marched into the store, bags of presents banging against his thighs as he rushed over to the rack to closer inspect the bra. Danny set his purchases down on the ground so he could touch it, tentatively reaching out a finger to run over the scalloped trim along one of the cups.

Danny realized that the one he was looking at would never fit Sam, but, luckily, there was a whole row of blue items in different sizes behind it. He flicked through the hangers, eyebrows knitting together at all of the different numbers, letters, prices, and, he realized, slightly different styles and designs.

Which one should he choose - what would look best on Sam, and what would fit him? Danny was at a loss. The first bra he had seen and fallen in love with appeared to be the only one of its kind, which was highly disappointing but he knew that often happened when shopping - if you fall in love with something, chances are it's not going to work out. Such was life.

The other bras, though: all were the same pale blue, but some had no beading, some possessed a ridiculous amount of straps, and one was also covered in purple, trailing vines embroidered over the lace, curling over the soft fabric.

"Sir, do you need any help?"

Danny startled, looking over his shoulder at a friendly, understanding looking employee. He nodded sheepishly, nudging aside some of his bags with his foot so he wasn't barricaded in a circle of paper bags.

"Yeah, I'm... I don't know what size to get- yeah," he cut himself off, nearly saying "to get my boyfriend" but realizing that maybe he shouldn't.

It wasn't like Danny was ashamed of being bisexual, but he figured that revealing he was dating a guy and buying him lingerie was not a good idea - not only because she could react weird, but because who knew who could recognize him. He decided it was safest to just pretend to be buying a present for his girlfriend, it was close enough and completely plausible, if only requiring more thought before he spoke.

"Of course! Do you know what size she is?"

He shook his head, looking back at all of the tags. Like every guy, he knew, roughly, that A was small and D was big - stereotypically perfect, though Danny disagreed - but there were also double letters and numbers that were confusing him. He had no frame of reference to know what size the numbers indicated, nor the scope of the sizes. 28 was the smallest he saw, but it still seemed like an awfully big number for Sam's tiny ribcage, and many of the other girls he'd met, too.

"That's all right, this is probably a surprise, huh?" The employee, he saw her name was Stephi, gave him a knowing look and a grin, and Danny nodded again, smiling back.

"Yeah, she... she's been kind of hinting, but this is totally going to be a surprise and I didn't really think to check sizes before I came. She's really small though, very skinny and uh, an A cup, I think. What are the numbers?"

"Oh, the numbers are for band size, it's like the circumference of the of the ribcage. She'd probably be a 28A, that's the smallest we have," Stephi said, sorting through the rack methodically and picking out several of the blue bras as well as a few others from a lower rung. "Do these look like they would fit?"

Danny squinted at them, trying to imagine if they would hang slack on Sam's body or sit snug like they were supposed to.

"I guess, yeah, those look like they'd fit. Though, I've never really seen her wear the shaped ones, she likes softer things. They're called, uh, it has 'bra' in it..."

Really, Danny didn't want to get the shaped ones because he thought they would pop off of Sam's body weird with nothing to fill them, and that looked both unsexy and uncomfortable. He'd heard one of his past girlfriends talk about some bra thing before; it had sounded like a lighter fabric or something, but he just couldn't remember what it was called.

"A brallette? Yes, we have those, here's a few."

She took the shaped bras and set them aside, holding out a few that looked like lacy, cut off tank tops or teddys, soft and thin fabric that would most likely lay flat if nothing was underneath.

Ah, a brallette! Danny swore he was going to pay more attention to what his partner was talking about when it came to stuff like this, be it Sam or another girlfriend - though, he hoped it would only ever be Sam from now on.

Danny looked at the bras she was holding, trying to decide. There was the soft blue one with purple vines crawling up from the band at the bottom, little flowers budding up high over the mesh and lace top and then continuing over the straps. He really liked that one, so he gently took it from her and kind of tucked it under his arm, then continued surveying.

Another was completely pale pink lace, "Millenial Pink" he was pretty sure. His eyes passed over it, going instead for one of similar design but of a rich, deep green color. He grabbed that one too, and decided not to get any of the others Stephi was holding.

He thanked her for her help, figuring he had a good grasp of what bras to get, now.

"No problem! I'm sure she'll love these, let me know if you need anything else, I'll be at the counter."

Stephi turned and started walking away, then came back to him. "Hey, you have a lot of bags, do you want to put them next to the counter while you shop, if you think it'll be awhile? It might make it easier."

Danny grinned at her. "Oh, yes, please, and thank you."

He appreciated how nice she was being to him, even though that was technically her job and she'd probably seen many hapless boyfriends in the store before. Still, it was the busy week before Christmas, and she had taken the time to patiently help him while people were rushing and yelling and making a mess of things all around them. Danny carried his bags over to where she directed and took the metal basket she gave him, turning back to survey the store for anything else that caught his eye.

Over in the left corner, he spotted a table full of colorful pieces of cloth - panties, he realized, looking at the mannequins modeling a few pairs. Danny wandered over to them, stopping briefly to run his hands over another bra but moving on when he realized it wasn't something Sam was likely to wear.

There were so many options! Danny knew that there were many, many styles of women's underwear; he was proud to say that he had seen quite a few of them first hand. Still, the colorful piles were almost making his head hurt, though his heart was beating faster with something that felt like excitement.

He picked up pair after pair, settling on the 10 for $100 deal he saw advertised. It seemed ridiculously expensive for tiny, flimsy pieces of fabric, but it would be so, so worth it when he got to see Sam's sinful hips in these cheeky little triangles.

Danny grabbed one more pair of panties and another bra - a matching, strappy set - and brought everything over to the front of the store, waiting in line with all the other ladies and boyfriends to purchase his secret gifts. He grinned at Stephi as she rung him up, thanking her profusely for the help and adding the pink striped bag to his cache of others.

He made his way past the giggling groups of teenage girls out of the store, pausing to give a few of them a smile when they blushed and pointed at him. He would stop and take pictures if they asked, but otherwise, he was a man on a mission.

Danny couldn't get the image of Sam all dressed up for him those two months ago out of his head; his stockings and garter, the corset, his sweet smile. He wasn't likely to find a corset like that at a commercial mall, but the other stuff - he wanted, he needed, to get the complete outfit.

His next stop, after dropping all the other gifts at the car like he had originally intended, was a high-end 'bohemian' boutique right next to Macy's. Danny pushed open the door, quirking his lips at some indie cover of Jingle Bells playing over the store's speaker.

Danny smiled widely, looking over the store. Florals, paisley, glitter, lace and satin and taffeta, all hung like shimmering, rainbow banners on the walls. He knew what Sam's style was, the only thing he had to do was build the bridge between the lingerie he had gotten and what Sam would wear, normally, and it was - hopefully - going to be an unforgettable gift. He decided to start at the hair clips and work his way around to the mini skirts on the other side.

Two hours and nearly two thousand dollars later, he had three full-to-bursting bags of clothing and accessories for Sam. Danny knew he had gone over board, and over budget, but every time he thought he had found the last item he turned around and another was screaming at him, sometimes from an entirely different store, how good it would look on Sam's lithe body. This new idea had shone a new light on the mall where he had previously found nothing of interest to get his lover; now, it was like he couldn't stop the floor of gifts.

He sighed, hands straining to grasp all of the bag handles as he made his way to the parking lot, trying not to knock anyone over with his haul. Now all that was left was wrapping everything up and placing it under the tree, where Sam could receive it in a few days time.

Danny worried his lip in between his teeth as he loaded up the trunk of the car. He was happy with his purchases, but that didn't mean Sammy would like them. He tried to quell any doubt in his head, though; Sam had asked for Danny to buy him more stuff, so he had. Simple.

The only thing he had to worry about was the wrong person opening the presents - which, shit, maybe they shouldn't go under the tree.

Jake was smirking, looking back and forth between Danny's red face and his little brother's more self satisfied, but also blushing one.

"So, Sammy, what did you get? Let us see."

Sam shook his head at first, looking like he was being asked to feed his arm to a lion, but then slowly raised his gift out of the mess of tissue paper. It was a top, silver and covered in shimmering fringe all the way down its torso and in lines along the sleeves. Some of the things Danny had gifted Sam toed the line - lacy shirts, crop tops, one skirt, booty shorts (though he already wore those) with the hope that Sam would actually like them, as in making them a part if his every day wardrobe. Dressing up for sex was fun, but Sam's androgyny, even when not sexual, was still incredibly attractive and Danny wanted to encourage it.

Jake whistled. "Dang, Sammy, I might have to "borrow" that from you. But that's not what made you blush, now let us see it. "

"Nuh-uh, no can do Jack-o. Do I demand to see everything your girlfriend gives you?"

"Ooh, so it's that kind of gift!" Josh laughed. He was sitting on the floor, surrounded by shining bits of metallic paper and rainbow wrapping, swaddled in a plush red robe and grinning like the little Christmas elf he was; he had demanded they each open one gift before they did Christmas with the entire Kiszka-Wagner clan like usual.

Danny squirmed in his seat, his face getting even darker. He had gotten Sam some regular things so as not to arouse suspicion, and then saved most of the special items for later that night, privately hoping Sam would try them on and give him a little show.   The Packaging: as you can see below, this is practically the same as my previous pair I have reviewed with the model wearing the pair in black on the front and a little detail at the back. These come wrapped around card and in their own packaging.

  Getting Them On: now this seems super weird but I had 2 different band lengths to these (I will explain further down the blog) so I had to try and line them up the best I could. I took care going over my anklets and rolling them up the legs.

These are pretty easy to get on, so you shouldn’t have any issues.

  On The Legs: well from far, it doesn’t even look like netted tights really. These remind me of dance tights, where they are such a fine net you can hardly tell util you look up close. I thought the colour worked really well against my skin; it slightly lightened it up but it was done in a natural way rather than it looking like some cheap done job.

The quality of these are great; they have plenty of stretch to them around the legs (see 2nd row 1st pic) so you get a real nice fitted finish on the legs with very minimal gapping to them. These are quite hard to rip, but I suppose could catch easily if you’re not careful.

The fit of them are true to size and it helps with them being a duo size, so you have that extra leeway in the pair. I would always check the sizing guide before purchasing!

The feel of them are semi-soft, and I mean they can be slightly rough to touch as well. It’s the finishing on them that has it feeling a little grainy but not bad that it itches your skin whilst wearing them.

  The Toes & Ankle: so the toes aren’t reinforced, but as it’s a micro net pair you should be ok in terms of long or sharp nails. I would still take care either way, but it’s not too bad.

My toes have plenty of wiggle room in them and there is no pressure added during the day either. The same can be said around the feet too.

Around the ankles, there are no issues either. Just this lovely fitted finish around the anklets 🙂

  The Bands: so let me say that these bands are the weirdest I have come across; never have I ever seen a pair of bands that are not the same size when you get them on the legs. Honestly… One was thicker than the other slightly and it looked so odd! Trying to sit them evenly looked super strange!

These have a thin double silicone layer at the top, which do have some good grip to them. The bands stay in place all day and don’t feel like they are being tugged down at all, so you’re safe to wear them however long you wanna!

The lace band is cute, but I’m not really feeling the colour of them. If they were a lighter beige, then they would have worked but I’m not liking the darker colour if I am honest.

We're all different sizes, and a smaller chair like the Jungle Series doesn't work for everyone. But with the Kaiser II, anyone can fit comfortably in the chair without feeling squished. If you're on the smaller side, though, you're going to want to skip this one, as you'll be swimming in the Kaiser II.

So that brings us the $500 question: is the AndaSeat Kaiser II the gaming chair to buy if you need a little extra room, or are there better options on the market?

Design

The AndaSeat Kaiser II is all about luxurious seating for anyone who needs a little extra room. It features that standard gaming chair design we all know and love. Essentially that means it looks like a racecar seat.

As far as the colors, the chair is available in two subdued options. There's a maroon and black model and an all-black model. Both colors feature white AndaSeat logos that don't overpower the chair while still reminding you who made it. You'll find a logo on the headrest, the head pillow, the lumbar cushion, and the back of the chair.

If you want a comfortable chair that won't immediately draw attention, this might be a good one to snag. AndaSeat has plenty of busier chairs if that's your thing, but I like the lowkey look offered by the Kaiser II.

All in all, it's a well-designed chair that looks good. AndaSeat did a great job of walking the line between a stylish chair and one that won't completely dominate a room.

Features

As this is one of AndaSeat's top-of-the-line chairs, it comes with every feature the company offers on its chairs. The company describes it as the "gold standard," and I can't say I disagree with that description in terms of the features offered.

For example, it comes with 4D armrests that provide a further degree of customization. Instead of just moving them up and down, you can rotate them and move them in and out and left and right. That means you can get the exact feel that you want for the way you sit.

The only issue with the armrests is how far apart they are. While you can bring them in a bit, if you're on the thin side, you won't be able to get comfortably get your arms out to them. The larger seat size won't really be a problem if you're smaller, as a little extra room never hurts anyone, but the armrests may be a dealbreaker for you.

Like most of these gaming chairs, the AndaSeat Kaiser II comes with bonded PVC leather (aka vinyl). This is more affordable than actual leather. It's also quite a bit more durable to prevent scratches and stains much better than real leather. And then there's the environmental benefit of not using leather, which is a nice bonus for some and a deal-breaker for others.

You can recline the chair by up to 160 degrees, and everywhere in between, so you can sit how you want at any given time. It can also be locked in place or set to rock, further adding to the customization AndaSeat offers here.

The wheels are massive, which helps them move smoothly. They're also extremely quiet, so you can roll the chair around without hearing any rattling noises. They're even coated in the same PVC leather that the chair's body uses, making it so it won't scratch your floors.

There's a removable lumbar pillow and headrest, so you can choose whether or not you prefer the feel of the chair with or without them. I like them personally, but I'm about as tall as you can get with the placement of the headrest pillow. It just barely sits on my neck, and if I were any taller (I'm 5 foot 11 inches), it would sit awkwardly on the shoulders. If you don't intend to use the headrest, then this won't be an issue.

I was a bit confused by the lumbar cushion. First, AndaSeat sent the small lumbar cushion, but they sent the larger, thinner one when I reached out to them. The pictures show the larger lumbar pillow, so I assume that's the one you're supposed to get and that the company just made a mistake when they packaged it with the smaller pillow the first time.

With all that said, I'm not too fond of the smaller lumbar pillow, and I really like the bigger one. I find the longer, wider, thinner design of the big pillow contours to the shape of my back more comfortably than the small one. If you decide to order one of these chairs (and you totally should), make sure you get the big lumbar pillow.

Setup Process

The setup process was pretty quick and painless for me. Perhaps that because I just reviewed the AndaSeat Jungle Series chair, and the process was more or less the same (though this one is a bit heavier).

Depending on your strength, you might want to bring a friend in to help you attach the back of the chair to the base. I managed to do it myself, but it is a little on the heavy side. You'll also need to put some decent force on the wheels to get them to lock into the base. I used my shoe to smack them in, but you can use anything that'll provide a decent amount of force (remember, the wheels are made of plastic, so don't go swinging a hammer at them).

If I had to estimate a time, I'd say it took me about 20 minutes from the moment my knife sliced the tape until I planted my butt in the assembled chair to start testing it out. As long as you're a little handy and capable of following decently descriptive directions, you should be able to put the chair together and get to gaming quickly enough.

Build Quality

The build quality is one of the biggest selling points for AndaSeat Kaiser II. Because it's a chair designed to support some extra size, it needs to be strong. It features a full steel framework and an aluminum base that feels plenty sturdy.

Obviously, it's hard to really make a call about the durability of the chair with only a couple of weeks to test it. It feels like it will last a very long time, but without spending months putting it through its paces, I can only go by the visual test and AndaSeat's durability claims.

Still, the chair is rated to fit 150KG (330.69 pounds) when in rocking mode and a staggering 200KG (440.92) when locked. For AndaSeat to list that kind of weight on the description for the chair shows that the company is extremely confident in how much the chair can handle.

Comfort

This chair is so comfortable, assuming you're large enough to fill it out. If you're really thin, you might find that your arms don't sit comfortably on the armrest. However, if you're over 200 pounds, you should fit rather nicely (I weigh about 250 pounds, and it fits me perfectly).

The chair is just the right level of firm to be supportive, but not so firm as to cause any pressure points. I was able to sit on it for hours and not feel even the least bit uncomfortable.

Since the chair is a bit wider, it was more than able to comfortably fit my butt and thighs, and I'm not even close to the chair's size limit. Even if you're quite a bit larger than me, you should have no problem with comfort in the Kaiser II.

As mentioned, I'm not in love with the placement of the headrest pillow, but I do like the softness and the way the material feels. I ended up getting used to the positioning, as I found the extra support to be worth the tradeoff. And I love the feel of the lumbar pillow. It's soft but supportive, and it's just a joy to place your back against.

There's really not enough praise I can throw at the comfort level of this chair. It just feels excellent in every way.

Should You Buy The AndaSeat Kaiser II Gaming Chair?

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that any gamer over 200 pounds should buy this chair. – Look for a pair that are long enough to cover the area of your thighs that rub. I aim for shorts that have a 6”, 7” or 8” inseam.

– Look at how long the leg area is from the groin – not how long they are overall. Some shorts have a high waist or are cut to sit on your hips low or high. You want to know how long the leg part will be when wearing them.

– High quality compression fabric is important. Cheap or thin fabric is more likely to ride up / not stay in place. And the wrong fabric will not be flattering (read as: if you are self conscious about your butt and thighs jiggling – you want quality compression fabric). Look for a pair of shorts that is a combination of Spandex and Polyester or Nylon. The same fabric rules apply to capris and leggings.

– They’re supposed to be tight. If you’re used to running in loose running shorts with the built in chonies underwear– compression type shorts might feel revealing or weird. But if you try to get them loose they’ll move around and that’s often how chafing starts!

– Pay for it. Some of my favorite running shorts are more expensive than the workout shorts I can get at Target or wherever. But I’m looking for shorts that are long enough to not ride up, high quality compression fabric – and those things are not easy to find. So, I’d rather pay for more expensive running shorts and enjoy my run instead of pull at them the whole run or feel self conscious. And in my experience running shorts like the ones mentioned last a long time (and I’m running in them a lot!).

So this review will be 1 of 3 – I decided to give 3 different colours a go seeing as they were pretty cheap from Amazon.

Please do use this blog as the main review for all 3 pairs; I will be going in depth in this one and treating the next 2 as picture blogs mostly 🙂 

I first came across a purple pair, and thought they were stunning. I did want to get my hands on some different colours and styles to try out, and then saw pink and (of course) black too. I did wonder if I really wanted to go for them considering these were coming from China (they’re sizing is super backwards and the quality can be really bad at times) but I thought:

  The Packaging: as I bought 3 in one go, they all came together in one package. There is hardly any description to them; just a label to differentiate the colours and codes.

When you get in, you will find these scrunched up instead of folded flat or nicely inside.

    Getting Them On: so I took my time rolling these on (God forbid if I end up ripping these) over my anklets and then up the leg. I wanted to make sure that these had even coverage so it doesn’t shade darker on the lower leg and stretched massively around the thighs.

These were fine to be honest; these sit mid to high thigh (depending on your leg length and thigh width to be honest). I would make sure you check their sizing guide before you purchase as they class these as one size but actually they’re not.

  On The Legs: so once I rolled them on and set them in place, I realised that I would have to clasp the lace part on these! I will speak about this further down the review in more detail!

The quality of these are very basic; I did end up snagging these a few times but they stayed a small snags which worked for me!

The fit of these are great for my leg length and height, however I wouldn’t say these are suitable for larger sized individuals, purely because these felt very fitted on my legs and thighs, so I can’t imagine someone larger would be able to say the same. I would certainly check the sizing guide before you purchase these.

The feel of them are super soft and real silky. These are a fine denier, so you do also need to handle with care. I wanted to show you the semi-matte finish they have to them, by using natural lighting and flash so you can see the difference. I felt these worked great for a night out, which means they would for the day too.

Please do note that these are a very basic pair; they’re a company I have never heard of so I wouldn’t expect them to do much for the legs compared to other known brands which pride themselves on quality. I do like the fact that these are cheap and do their job well, but I don’t see these lasting a few wears unless you’re real careful with them.

    The Toes & Ankle: the toes come reinforced as you can see with the slightly darker toe strips. These have plenty of wiggle room and no pressure is added at all throughout the day/evening. I felt comfortable in these in my open toe sandals.

Around the ankles, it’s a smooth fitted finish.

    The Bands: so as I mentioned previously these don’t actually have a plain denier part to hook the clasps onto. I figured out that these were supposed to be like holdups but without the silicone part, so in a sense they would be treated as stockings.

Anyways, so I used my suspender belt with metal clasps for this, however you might wish to use plastic clasps instead (they would be more suitable against the lace).

The tops I have to say were quite tight on my thighs; it does have an elastic band in them which sits under the lace, but that doesn’t hold well at all on the thighs you will need a suspender belt or if you can add silicone to the lace to hold them up instead.

These aren’t thick in terms of height; in fact these are quite slim compared. In the images online, they look like the normal sized welt, but on the legs I felt they were smaller. Maybe it’s because it’s stretched out a lot!!

      My Thoughts?

Overall I think these are alright; nothing too fancy but they do their job. I did feel that these were a little more fitted than I would have liked on the thighs, but luckily I am always covering the lace tops so it wasn’t too much of an issue.

For what you pay, they are great but I see these lasting a few wears and that’s it. If you’re after a real good pair, then I would steer you away from these!

The colour of the tights are great; they are a lovely thin denier, which I feel are more 10-15 as that base is so sheer, which makes the polka dots stand out even more.

The quality of these are ok; not the greatest but they are good for what you pay. I did manage to snag these a few times during the day but luckily it ended up as nothing more.

The fit of these would certainly work for a XS-M in size. I would not recommend these for larger sized people as it might fit around the calves but getting them on the thighs would be a great struggle. These don’t have a lot of stretch in them at all.

The feel of these are divine; they are so silky soft and super smooth on the legs. I did take some images with the flash on so you can see the slight difference and that little bit of shine they have to them. I do prefer them as a semi-matte finish rather than a shine, as I feel white and shine aren’t really my thing; I prefer a shimmer.

The design has these amazeballs large polka dots scattered around the legs, from the reinforced toe to the boxer brief. However, when you look close up, these aren’t the perfect circle. They do have some where it extends out, and there was a few of these I spotted around the legs. From far, you don’t really see it (I hope) but it’s something to look out for.
