(oikage post-timeskip fluff)
Keeping the title of one of the world’s best setters comes with obvious costs. And no holidays could ever make Kageyama Tobio break his routines. His body must be in its peak condition at all times. So, yes, he is going on his 6 a.m. jog. Despite the snowstorm raging outside. And despite the image of his pretty, brown-haired boyfriend, still sleeping next to him, all wrapped up in blankets like the cutest burrito, drawing him in. No, no, no. He is getting up.
Tobio carefully slides from underneath Tooru’s arm, that’s been so comfortably wrapped around his waist for most of the night, and hops off the bed. He’s about to take his first step away when he feels something tug at the back of his pyjamas.
He turns to discover Tooru’s hand clutching the fabric tightly, the dead weight of his arm pulling on the piece of clothing, making the front of the collar nearly choke Tobio. He huffs out a quiet laugh, because the rest of Tooru still looks very much asleep. He attempts to wiggle the fabric out of Tooru’s fist but it’s futile.
“Come on, let me go,” Tobio pleads in a half-whisper, to which Tooru responds with an incomprehensible grumble and an even tighter pull on Tobio’s pyjamas.
Tobio sighs in defeat. He takes another look at Tooru’s face—it’s crazy how sleep can make the most devilish of creatures look so angelic. Tobio may be strong enough to be consistent with his unforgiving routines. But he is not strong enough to disturb his lover’s sweet morning slumber.
So, he undos the buttons of his pyjama top and lets Tooru keep it, carefully making sure that his hand descends very softly back onto the sheets, prized possession in tow. Tooru mumbles something that sounds like an approval and wraps his arms around the pyjamas along with a fluffy fold of blanket that has formed right in the area where Tobio normally would have been. He looks so unbelievably content that it almost makes Tobio giggle. He does his best to suppress it and snaps a quick picture with his phone instead, before making use of his hard-fought freedom and finally walking away from the bed to get ready to go.
He’s already sliding into his second shoe when he hears a loud, frustrated groan.
“Tobio-chan! Nooo!” Tooru whines.
“I’ll be back in fourty minutes,” Tobio tries to reassure him.
For a few moments there is no reply, and then Tobio watches as his pyjama top flies out of the bedroom’s doorway along with Tooru’s very unhappy and very grumpy-sounding “Ugh!” It makes Tobio snicker.
He finishes putting on his shoes, takes his phone out and makes sure to send Tooru the picture he’s taken just a few minutes ago, before stepping through the front door, a huge grin on his face.
