What would a man who was an alcoholic for most of his life, give it all up for. Simple, his family. Although it had taken a long time, a long time indeed. Of course, FP was the member of the notorious gang, the southside serpents and they resided on what was almost obvious, the southside of riverdale. FP is now 48 years old, sober sober and working at Pops. However he still had the occasional bad night and got drunk, but those were stepping stones to success he always told himself. He was still the leader of the gang and had to keep up appearances.

nevertheless, adriana knocked loudly on the door and prayed that he would take in their daughter --- more so, he actually bothered to read the note she neatly tucked into the pristine baby blanket

Welcome to the shit fest that is Sweet Pea’s life.

Before you ask, yes. I went way overboard, so let if you’re not down for reading the whole thing, just scroll to the bottom and read the very, very short version!

People call him Sweet Pea and only that. He was named after his father and his father was a cunt, so he wasn’t big on carrying that name. His mom called him Sweet Pea, his brother did, too. And everyone else just eventually caught up on it. These days most people don’t even know his real name anymore. Not like he tells, even if people ask.

He’s 6 when his dead dies and he’d have to lie to say he cared. He cared about his mom though. A lot. Things were better at home after that, at least for a while, when it was just Sweet Pea, his brother and their mom. But money was shorter than ever now, but he didn’t care. He had all he needed.

When he is 8, his mother finds a new guy and marries him. He’s even worse than the first but the kids take it because they want their mother to be happy. She doesn’t look happy but says she is so it probably has to be true.

When he is 9, his mother got sick. Cancer. Sucks to explain that to a child who doesn’t know what cancer is and can hardly even spell it because he’s dyslexic as fuck. His mother is getting worse fast, so his brother tells him his mother is dying. He knows what that is, at least. He also says she could live if they could pay the medical bills, but his stepfather quits his job and gambles away all their money. So Sweet Pea hates him even more.

His brother is 17 when he joins the Serpents, starts talking a lot about unity and loyalty and words like that and Sweet Pea thinks it sounds great. He decides to join right after his brother, at twelve. They get their tattoos together, his brother on his arm, like most people, Sweet Pea on his neck because he wants it to show. For a week, all the other kids at school stare at him and he feels way cool.

His brother is the one to land the final hit. He punches him so hard, Sweet Pea thinks that maybe he didn’t even want him to get up. That he wanted him to pass out and stay down and not be a Serpent. But he gets up anyways and he likes to think that his brother looked more proud than worried when he shakes his hand after.

They move out after that, together. Because now they don’t have to stay at home anymore. Now they have a new family, a real family that looks out for each other.

He finds some friends a few years later. The first one, a girl called Toni. She’s fourteen when she joins, and Sweet Pea says she’s just a kid and way too young to be a Serpent. But he was 12 when he joined so he doesn’t get to say anything, probably. Still, she has to do the Serpent Dance in a room full of old guys and that’s weird. She says she wants it outlawed and Sweet Pea agrees, but traditions die hard, especially for Serpents.

The first initiation he gets to be a part of is Ricky’s. He punches him in the stomach and feels a little bit bad, but he keeps walking and takes it well. A lot better than Sweet Pea did back in the day, but he would never admit that.

When Joey does her dance, she looks even younger than Toni did back in the day and Sweet Pea still thinks it’s weird. She’s so short and sweet and Sweet Pea decides that he’ll look out for her right there and then and he does.

Their new little clique keeps growing like that and it’s nice. They hang out together a lot and wear their jackets with pride and take trips to the quarry and dare each other to jump in in the middle of January and get in fights together.

He’s still fifteen when he goes back to his old house. He wants to grab some stuff he left there when he and his brother moved out, walks in through the front door and sees his step father on the ground. He doesn’t know what happens and doesn’t really care. Maybe it was an accident, maybe he fucked the wrong person over. It is all the same to him, really. He even sits down on the couch where they all used to have dinner together and waits and watches the guy bleed out until he stops breathing. When he leaves, he calls the ambulance. For a solid few days he expected the police to show up at his door step, but they never do. Naturally. Northside police only ever cares when they need a scapegoat.

When he’s sixteen, he moves again. Alone this time. His brother moves in with his girlfriend and her apartment doesn’t have room for Sweet Pea and that’s fine. He gets his own flat and misses his brother, but his friends come over all the time so that’s nice.

At 18, the gang gets another member. Jughead Jones. At first Sweet Pea is excited. Then he meets the kid and sees way more northside in him. No hint of the legend that is FP Jones in that mopey emo kid. But he proves him wrong. Proves he’s cool and makes a good serpent prince and Sweet Pea thinks that in a couple of years he’d gladly follow his orders as the new Serpent King.

Then Southside High gets closed down and honestly, Sweet Pea is so fucking happy because fuck that place and everything it stands for. Riverdale High isn’t too bad. Some students suck, but classes are better and for the first time, he actually understands stuff and he wonders if he’d had been a better student if he was born on this side of the tracks. He decides it doesn’t matter.

They are seniors now and that sucks. Because it means that school will be over soon and while his friends are amazing and talented and so fucking smart, he just knows that they will get into college and make it big somewhere. But he isn’t like them. He’ll stay here, spend his nights at the Whyte Wyrm and be a Serpent till he dies. He reckons that’s not too bad, it would just be better with them there.

People call him Sweet Pea and nothing else. Other than his closest friends and his brother, no one really knows his real name and he likes to keep it that way.

When he’s six, his father dies. Served him well, because he was a dick.

When he’s eight, his mother marries his stepfather. Also a dick. Maybe even worse.

When he’s nine, his mother gets cancer and dies soon after, because thanks to his stepfathers gambling addiction, they couldn’t afford to pay for her treatment.

He joins the Serpents when he’s 12, just because his older brother did it and finds a new family in them. After joining, they both move out of their old home and leave their stepfather behind.

He makes friends with the Serpents his age almost instantly. They are like siblings to him and he’d do everything to keep them safe.

At 15, he finds his stepfather bleeding out on the living room floor of his old house. Instead of helping him, he just waits until he’s dead and calls the ambulance when he leaves. He never told anyone about this, not even his closest friends.

On his sixteens birthday, his brother moved in with his girlfriend, so Sweet Pea got his own place and constantly invites the other Serpent kids over. He’s not too big of a fan of being alone.

He actually things going to Riverdale High is great. He hated Southside High with a passion and is glad he finally got out of there. Better education, better funding. It was amazing. If that meant he had to dress like a prep five days a week, he’d gladly take it.

He’s still not a fan of northsiders and would jump them without a second thought when they start shit.

First things first... The Serpent King is back

FP is still the dominating and powerful man he was before he had been arrested, but he is being more careful in his approach to things.

Treats all the serpent kids like they're his own

He really wants to abolish the whole serpent initiation because the thought that his son went through it all and the hypothetical thought of his daughter having to do the dance if she was around? Angers him to no end. Like we saw how quick he was to put his jacket over Betty and to praise her but also get her off the stage?? Idk I just think he doesn't like it at all and that the serpents should allow anyone to join so long as they're loyal.

He's probably been telling all of the kids to lay low at Riverdale High and to not start fights or confrontation. He knows they're getting a far better education and they really need to savour it. He looks at the differences between himself and Jughead and how intelligent Jug is from just being at a different school as to the one he was at.

He grew up on the Northside but ran away to the Southside when he was thirteen so he's been on both sides and really knows that the kids being in a different school is so great for them.

Ok so his secret: He made a deal with a few guys in jail so he could get a mobile phone to make a few calls --- They told him he could get it, but it would cost him and FP being FP agreed instantly. Of course his few phone calls were to Tall Boy to find out what was going on with the serpents and Riverdale in general but he got no answers. Tall Boy claimed everything was under control and that he was taking care of things. That was it. Getting the phone was entirely pointless and as soon as FP told the guys that he wasn't repaying anything because of how dumb it was, they obviously didn't like it. Now he's been getting letters addressed to him at his trailer, but also at the White Wyrm threatening him and his family.

He's prob gonna pass out when he sees Jellybean and Gladys?? He knows he wasn't the best father or partner, but he's totally determined to turn it all around and show that he's always there for them. He fell off the wagon for a while but it only proved to him how much of an idiot he was and how family means everything to him. He didn't have the best family life and had been following by example.. He hasn't actually been drinking again. After the few drinks on the night of his return, he started watering them all down and now, he literally drinks water, apple juice or coke just pretending that it's alcohol without letting anyone know lol

He's working at Pop's still and he's a good worker despite what everyone may have thought. He's well-mannered and works hard to give everyone the best service.

MARI VEGA is often mistaken for ALICIA JOSIPOVIC, but they’re really just an EIGHTEEN year old SOUTHSIDER trying to adjust to the new atmosphere at riverdale high. they can be so MOTIVATED, but also kind of AN ICE PRINCESS. rumour has it, the texts are blackmailing them with THEIR PARENTS BEING IN A CULT – i wonder if it’s true?

- Like many of her Serpent brethren, Mari enjoys partying and hedonism, but is also very focused on her career as a professional dancer so she can get away from Riverdale and move to NYC. 

- Can come across a little bitchy and rude at first, but not intentionally, it’s just that she doesn’t know how to interact with people in a friendly way because of the way she was raised throughout her teens. She also just thinks the majority of Northsiders are stuck up snobs.

- Very closed off and hates people knowing anything about her or how she feels. Denies her emotions.

- Bisexual.

- When Mari was 13 her parents joined a ‘religion’ (cult) called the New Elohimists and the Resistance Against the False Light, or the New Elohimists or the Resistance for short. Essentially it’s kind of a combination of new world order conspiracy theory stuff, UFO cults, Gnosticism, Christianity, Scientology and the New Thought movement. They believe the world is being lead astray by the False Light, or Lucifer, and his alien sons and daughters, and they must cleanse their influence from the world so the world can see the ‘true light’, a race of aliens called the Elohim (God). The cult is lead by a mysterious figure in NYC known only as the High Seeker who controls the members’ finances, lifestyles, careers, etc. 

- Mari now rarely spends time at home because of her parents being the way they are and so spends most of her time sleeping on the couches of her fellow Serpents. She never talks about her parents, and doesn’t want anyone to know the real reason they don’t get along.
