The only wise and responsible thing for anyone to do ensure that their necessities are provided for...With generations of "handwriting on the wall" it's time for us to step up in our generation and glean wisdom from our elders that are about us! Join us in doing just that on Thursday evening June 29th at 6pm as we get a hands on tutorial (with Q&A) on planting / harvesting / preserving home grown vegetables! Whether you live in an apartment or a house...this session of the North Omaha Book Club is planned with you and your household in mind! We not only hope...but PRAY to see you there!

Our first meeting of the N.O.B.C. was absolutely incredible! We started at 10am and everyone took their time grabbing some donuts and refreshments and just meeting each other. We had no rhyme or reason so to speak on how the meeting(s) would go and just wanted to let things take their organic course...and they did! We had twenty or so books out on a table just for consideration and conversations sake and a Louis Henry Gates documentary playing in the background. A corporate discussion begin to ensue regarding group economics and circulating wealth between each other as a community. We all felt pretty convicted that we hadn't been more mindful of this concept and practice and we all expressed our willingness to be much more responsible in the marketplace in regards to this. Out of this hour long discussion it was proposed and agreed to that the first book we'd read and study together would be #Powernomics by Dr. Claud Anderson. On our next (2nd) meeting to be held on Saturday March the 19th at 10am, we will as a group discuss chapters 1 & 2. Whether you made/make the meeting(s) or not please visit the: Aframerican Bookstore at 3226 Lake Street Omaha, NE 68111 (1-402-455-9200) to pick up your copy. They were gracious enough to place a bulk order just for the Book Club! They are re-stocked as of Friday February the 26th at 1:00pm. We were inspired to take immediate action and did as follows: At the conclusion of the meeting a couple of Club Members went to the Aframerican Bookstore to inform them of our club and our desire to patronize them for our club...only makes since right!?! Second, another representation went to visit Daddy's Neighborhood Market at 4811 NW Radial Hwy. Omaha, NE 68104 http://daddysneighborhoodfreshmarket.com (402-960-8557) to try to establish Pre-Paid, Group buying rates on food staples insomuch to enable them to have prices competitive with Big-Box and other local Franchise Grocers, that the masses of us could afford to patronize them primarily and regularly. We will keep you updated concerning this potential arrangement as it is currently being researched by the owner as to it's potential viability. It was also communicated by several in attendance that it would be advantageous for us as a club to be socially active as well...being so inspired by our readings and all! Again there was unanimous consensus so we look forward to participating in events relevant to our cultural all throughout our city at the very least! So look out for us! This concludes the summary of #Meeting #1 so consider yourself "filled-in" although we'd much rather have you in person with us moving forward, and hope that you'll oblige us! See you Saturday March 19th at 10AM at the Assembly of the Saints located at: 4224 N24th St (& Sahler) 68110. God's Speed!
