Return to The Quarry - BONUS FEATURE: The Notes of Gerhard Fluchvater (redacted for public safety) (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/1470220584-return-to-the-quarry-bonus-feature-the-notes-of?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_reading&wp_uname=Conspicuous_Mending It's 2027. The luxury resort built on what was once Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp has folded and wants to close out their accounts - which include paying off the debts of the former camp and damages to the nine counselors nearly killed in the "bear attacks" of 2021. Accompanied by the law firm's psychologist, the former counselors reluctantly return to the quarry to confront the past - if only to free themselves from the grip of that awful night in August. Things soon take a frightening turn. Finding themselves stranded on the property and hunted by a masked assailant - a hideously armed man in an executioner's hood, it becomes clear that escape from the property will not be as easy as it looks. Rigged with deadly devices and made into a death trap, the quarry is also the hunting grounds of the angry spirit of Eliza Vorez, who seeks revenge of her own. That is, if the inner demons each of the counselors are grappling with don't consume them first. Once again, they are at the mercy of the Hackett family's secrets. Those misdeeds may have been buried, but not so deep that Bizarre Yet Bonafide's own Grace and Anton cannot ferret them out. On this night, they have found themselves captive alongside the hapless counselors while pursuing one such secret: the disappearances of a silent film actress in 1925, and her biographer later in 1952. Both women, it seems, shared Hackett's Quarry as their last destination. To escape the hooded predator, the hunted must rely on each other to thwart the traps, overcome personal trauma, and unearth what happened to those two women. Doing so is their only hope of finding a way out of Hackett's Quarry - for good. Whether they want to or not, they will learn the awful significance of the Hackett's bootlegging operation, the reason why the Hacketts were so desperate to repair the Lodge, and even the origin of the werewolf curse itself. It is either that or be killed. And after all, what doesn't kill you will make you stronger.

Wild Child | N.F. (The Quarry) - Chapter Nine
Chapter Summary: Would you be selfish once more or let your dad dictate what he wanted you to be?
Nick Furcillo x Female!Reader (no use of y/n) Warnings: Bugs, Insects, and Cursing (I'm not great at tagging). Reader is an entomologist expert of camp.
Chapters: Prologue, Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three, Chapter Four, Chapter Five, Chapter Six, Chapter Seven, Chapter Eight, Chapter Nine
Summers were supposed to be spent halfway across countries. Lounging in beach chairs, eating different cuisines every day, and living the nightlife until you could see the morning sun. Rinse and Repeat. Summer was supposed to be your escape. A small time away from your real life.
Now this year’s summer was spent in Northkill, New York. Somewhere secluded, somewhere where you thought a 5-star hotel would be located. Somewhere you thought you would just be able to laze around, lounge in a sauna, or poolside. Explore the gardens, party in the evening, or just simply get away from your father. An escape.
And yet you are here in Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp.
Here you are spending your time teaching about insects, giving out guides on what type of species the insects are. Here you are spending your day, looking for different types of butterflies for your collection. Here you are having fun winning in a team-building activity. Here you are tolerating the children you previously called ‘devil spawns’. Here you are stuck eating the simple dishes Nick had prepared for the camp. Here you are having the time of your life in an environment you are not accustomed to. Here you are enjoying the morning view of the lake had given. Here you are having fun with people who you thought wouldn’t be your friends in this lifetime. Here you are, more like the real ‘you’.
And now you stood in the middle of the kitchen wiping your ugly tears. That at first, is a place you’d hate ‘cause it stereotyped women belonging in the kitchen. Now you have grown to appreciate and see it in a better light. Now it is your safe space.
Here you have shown all your faults and flaws, here you have split yourself open, ready to bare it all to the person you knew who wouldn’t judge you. To someone who would listen to you talk for hours, smiling with every word uttered. To someone who made you enjoy the simplest things in life.
Simple things like:
Preparing simple dishes with Nick and washing the dishes together.
Sharing thoughts with Max about what movies would be best for movie marathon day.
Having fun listening to Ryan’s campfire stories and always getting scared shitless of course.
Kaitlyn sings the obnoxious Summer Camp Song that she likes to annoy you with whenever you wake up late.
Being competitive with Jacob whenever there is a sports competition and winning against him sometimes.
Talking with Emma about fashion, and the ‘Fancy Dress’ schedule you share together.
Looking in awe whenever Abi is painting the insects you had provided for her to draw.
Playing pranks on each other with Dylan, and even teaming up to do it to other counselors.
Shared schedules with Laura and her insightful knowledge about animals. Also, the gossip you share together, hidden behind hush whispers.
The silence and calmness of the morning air in Hackett’s Quarry, whenever you wake up early to look at the stillness of the lake.
There you realized that your weird hobbies of adding different insects to your collection weren’t hobbies at all. Those meaningless activities you do in your free time (that’s what your father had called them) are something now you have grown to love. The small act of collecting and taking care of it just like your mother had done, had been a great influence on you. And how those summers you spent with your mother affected what you wanted to be when you grew up. Especially now you got your acceptance letter, you wanted to pursue it even more. This is what you had been dreaming of, your future to become the real you. Something your father had not tainted.
When you calmed down, you stayed in his arms. Unmoving until you wiped your tears with the back of your hands. Rubbing your eyes roughly to prevent yourself from breaking into pieces once more. You laughed.
You laughed at how pathetic and ridiculous you looked. Not realizing you were still in Nick’s embrace; he rubbed your back in small circles.
“There are probably snot and tears there, you might want to change.” You joked, not looking at Nick directly but just pointing at the tear stains on his shirt.
“It’s fine.” He smiled at you. Not even prying about why you suddenly cried in front of him, he was just there comforting you in silence. Giving you something to hold onto, he took the pain away with his soothing hug.
And you felt your heart melt and your stomach flipped on itself. Nick understood what was going on, and he didn’t pressure you to talk. You see Nick didn’t just make you realize to stop and just enjoy even the simplest of things.
So now it’s best in memory — To him taking the onion for you so you wouldn’t cry, giving you a glass of water when you didn’t notice it, cutting fruits whenever your campers get tired, handing you cleaned jars for your insect collection, teaching you how to cook, giving you his shirt when you were half-naked, cooking you dinner even when you both had stayed in the kitchen hours late; and even when you hated doing the dishes, it became tolerable with Nick.
You had found someone you could lean into, something you haven’t done in a long time.
With one last inhale, you faked a smile and tried to wipe traces of your breakdown. There are tears still evident on your cheeks, your eyes were puffy and the tips of your nose as well. You probably resemble a tomato.
“There. Do I look pretty?” You asked him, lifting your eyes to meet him. With an expression you couldn’t read; he looked at you. You felt his hand hovering over your cheeks, wiping faint traces of mascara that lay at the corners of your eyes.
You feel the warmth of his hands, and you almost have leaned yourself to them. But you forced yourself to stay still, to not hurt yourself furthermore. If you had gone in with your desires, the temptation to be held once again, you wouldn’t know what would happen next. You wouldn’t know what you do.
“You always look beautiful.”
You paused. Nick had been looking at you directly. Staring with a certain look in his eyes, unlike the first time that you had met. It almost looked like he was challenging you to it, to look at him the same.
It was you who had looked away from his honey-molten eyes, only that his intense gaze left a make its way to the pit in your stomach.
Was the room too hot?
You were the first to yield only for it to land on his lips.
There were no words, no witty remarks, no sharp wits, or an ounce of confidence. Your heart was thumping wildly on your chest.
This was different. This is uncharted waters, something you haven’t traversed yourself in. You feel yourself swimming in a pool of fire, your mind becomes a jumbled mess, your face overheating and the only distance between you and him are mere inches.
“I—I…” You were stuttering. Tongue-tied with how soft and sincere he had said it.
Slowly he placed his hands back to his sides, and the warmth was gone. You stared at the dishes like it was the most interesting thing you had seen, immediately you submerged your hands in water, ready to splash it in your face as well. Your heart was still pounding, and you couldn’t calm down, you had to walk out of this room. Get another breath of fresh air, somewhere away from Nick.
You washed it quickly and in silence, ready to bolt out once again. You were nervous, almost dropping a plate or three, and Nick was always ready to help you.
“Thank you.” You muttered. It was almost like a wisp in the wind when it left your lips, but nonetheless, he hummed in satisfaction. He understood like he always did.
When both of you were done washing the dishes, you almost forgot your troubles. Nick had replaced your anxieties with the tenderness of his embrace and overall, just being him. While you were both in the kitchen, you were more worried about whether you looked ridiculous after your crying fest, not about your father’s call. He had simply wiped away your worries.
God, you were fucked. You have truly, madly, and deeply have fallen. The great and unmovable you had already raised your white flag; you’d admit to the whole world. There was no saving you from the bottomless trenches you had put yourself. This was you in love. Something you never thought you would feel.
After putting the remaining clean dishes in their respective places, you trail behind Nick. Only this time, your co-counselor could see a glimpse of your features, not the dead-man walking earlier. A sliver of you had come back in that short time in the kitchen, it wasn’t no secret that you were blushing or that you looked nervous, not the fear-stricken nervous earlier more like schoolgirl-crush-nervous. They were ready to tease you and bombard you with questions. They knew you would bounce back like you always did, and it wasn’t no secret that Nick was your cure.
“Did you fuck in the kitchen again?” Dylan teased; both of your eyes widened. Your mouth gaping like a fish, the cogs in your brain weren’t working. You haven’t thought of a comeback to his comment when Nick pointed behind Dylan with a disgusted look on his face.
“Dylan, your camper is eating one of their boogers again, you might want to—” Nick distracted Dylan. Dylan immediately turned around with a horrified look on their face. It did capture the attention of your co-counselors who were more intrigued at how Dylan would handle the situation when the kid accidentally wiped it on him.
Looking at Nick who gave you a small smile and a wink, and you tried to hide your laugh.
Mr. Hackett suddenly called upon his campers for the next activity. You were standing behind Nick, ready to walk with him. While he distracted your co-counselors from even talking to you.
You weren’t ready to answer their questions. Maybe a little bit more time and then you’ll be back to your old self. You just need a little bit more time to collect yourself once more.
Before you could follow them, Laura had gently dragged you to the back of the pack. Worry was written in her the crease of her forehead, looking at you intently.
“Hey, do you want to talk about it?” She softly said. Nick turned around to look at you once more when he realized that you weren’t by his side. You smiled reassuringly at him ‘Don’t worry I could handle it’
“Oh, I’m now okay.”
“You don’t look fine; I can see you’ve been crying.”
“My father called… it’s about my Cornell’s acceptance letter.”
For a minute of silence, Laura was still processing the details. Suddenly you can see the shift of thinking to excitement. She hugged you tightly, and you accepted it. This was the most affection you had received in a day, and you almost melted once again.
“You did it! I’m so proud of you.” She let go of you, grabbing your shoulders.
“I did it Laura.” You softly said.
But your friend knew, something was bothering you and that you don’t look too ecstatic. The tone of your voice was your tell-tale that things aren’t fine at all. You were considering not saying it to Laura, but she deserves to know. She had been nothing but supportive of you.
“He doesn’t want you to take it, doesn’t he?” Laura asked and you nodded. Gulping down a large lump in your throat, you had already cried enough, but it still stings. It still hurts to see you get your dreams crushed.
“I’m sorry.” Laura said, not really knowing what to say next. But only she hugged you tightly and exhaled deeply. You have already accepted your fate.
But you smiled, not the one that reaches your ears, a tight-lipped smile, like it was forced out of you. “You don’t have to apologize for anything, I should never been silly and selfish.”
“No, you’re not.”
She looked at you sadly. But before she could continue what she was saying you walked towards the campers, avoiding her stare.
Laura was left watching you go; you weren’t fine at all. You were hiding, running away once more. Trying to hide your pain in smiles, distracting yourself to numb you from the pain. There stood not a person, but a mere reflection of you acting like everything was just okay.
When Nick realized that you had gone to your campers, talking with them in smiles that couldn’t seem right to him. He frowned, not even realizing Laura had situated herself beside him. You were far away from their conversation, too busy trying to distract and occupy yourself with the task at hand to even hear their conversation or see that they were talking together.
“She’s pretending.” Laura whispered, and Nick nodded.
“Did she tell you what the call was about?” Nick asked, looking at the small blonde beside him. Laura shook her head no.
“No, but I could make enough conclusions to know that she wants to go to Cornell.” Laura commented, arms folded across her chest.
“But she couldn’t.” Nick added. “Could we do something?”
“I don’t think we can. We can’t just change a man’s iron will and he is a difficult person, her words not mine. The decision lies with her, whether she wants to go or not.” Laura concluded.
“Maybe we can convince her? It wouldn’t be hard right?” It almost looked like Nick was grasping at straws, and yet he remained positive. Always thinking about the bright side to making you happy, remembering your talk with him.
‘Oh, I hope whatever course you end up in you’d be happy.’
‘I hope so too.’
It was clear as day, you were happy talking about insects and teaching about them. He could see the fire in your eyes, the genuine happiness you felt whenever you got something to add to your collection. Nick isn’t blind, you were happy here. You were content and he could drown himself in the euphoric sound of your voice, talking about something you truly love.
Even if Nick is afraid of spiders, he would face his fears just to hear you ramble about them. He could tolerate being surrounded by bugs if it meant being close to you. He would be fine with scrolling through hundreds of cookbooks just to teach you every meal and recipe if it meant spending every second with you. He would be okay tasting your cooked meals (they weren’t good, but he would never say that to you out loud) if it means he would be here for those sweet moments. He would be fine walking in the dark towards your respective cabins if it meant you’d be beside him. Hell, he was more than okay washing the dishes as long as it is with you, whether you work in chatter or in silence. He likes it. He loves it. It was those moments, those sweet and intimate moments that are worth loving you for.
At first, he didn’t realize the kind of hold your father had in your life, you had played it with vague sentences and downplaying it all the time. But when you cried in his arms earlier, then Nick truly understood it finally. The weight on your shoulders, the responsibility that you had to carry and live up to your name, and how much it is burdening you. How you wanted to take control of your life, only for it to be snatched away. Nick had heard how heartbroken you sounded, and how hard you tried to put your broken pieces back together.
“I mean… it wouldn’t hurt to try….” Laura pondered “She listens to you Nick, try it and we’ll see.”
With Laura’s advice, Nick was left with one thing in his mind. He would try his damn best to change your mind, to make you realize you can take a hold of your life once again.
He knew you were a tough person to crack, a closed book hidden with chains and locks. He’d talk to you, stare at your eyes like he had done earlier, make you listen. And if it meant to see you smile, one that makes your eyes crinkle in delight, he would crawl to the end just for him to see it again.
You, unknowingly standing there chatting with Jacob, oblivious with the talk your two close friends had in the span of minutes you were gone. You had only seen a split second of their serious talk, but decided to preoccupy yourself elsewhere after all the best medicine for your pain is distraction.
The kids were a good distraction, they didn’t notice the red puffy eyes you had or that you had spent yourself playing with them. It was a sorrowful experience to see the childlike innocence that gathered in their eyes, and you were once a child, you had dreams.
Dreams where your mother was well and alive.
Dreams that consisted of staying together with your mother, not with your father.
Dreams where you spent your afternoon together catching butterflies in her garden, drinking the same iced cold juice she likes to make.
Dreams of graduating with her beside you, smiling proudly.
But you had to grow up, this is real life and most of the time, real life hurts a little too much. Too much you couldn’t handle and hold it in your small fragile hands, hands that were once a child.
“Are you listening?” Emma waved a hand over your face, a worried knot on her eyebrows. You hummed for her to repeat the questions.
“You look so out of it? Are you okay? Did Dylan hand you one of his joints again?” Plastering a smile, you shook your head no.
“Honestly, I’m just so tired.” Exhaling deeply, you didn’t even realize the underlying meaning of your words. Emma frowned, worried that you might be sick again.
“Maybe you can sit this one out, I’ll distract them, after all I’m great at being the center of attention around here.” She reassured you with a pat, and you shook your head no. You couldn’t deal being left alone with your thoughts; you were scared.
“I think I’ll be fine. Thanks.” This time when you walked away, in the corner of your eye, you had seen Emma frowning and crossing her arms across her chest. Clearly, she had seen your act, of course, the theater girl would know what is acting and is genuine.
This time, you tried your best to avoid Nick, Laura, and Emma’s worried glances, if Kaitlyn or Abi noticed your behavior you’d be doomed. With Abi, being too kind, she’d try her best to cheer you up and Kaitlyn’s strong intuition would let you just take the rest of the day off. You didn’t want them to question you anymore, so you approached one counselor who’d probably distract their eyes off of you with their loudmouth.
Dylan wouldn’t notice, right? And besides, you could deflect him easily if he caught a whiff that something is up. Right?
“How are you, booger counselor?” You teased, and he immediately turned around to meet you with a horrified look on his face. Recalling a certain event earlier.
“Just because you have a nice nickname, doesn’t mean you get to call me ugly ones.” He pointed out. “But I’m fine since you asked nicely, I’m clean, Ryan helped me.”
“I’m sure he did.” You teased, trying to avoid the glance from your worried friends halfway across the camp, which Dylan didn’t fail to notice by the way. You were side-stepping to place yourself directly in front of him, avoiding the glances of Nick and Laura.
“Are you up to something, ‘cause if you are I am so not ready to face your dragon that guards your castle.” Dylan raised an eyebrow. You almost choked on your own spit, were you really that obvious?
“No… I just like the shade here. Nicely placed shade. Also, what do you mean by a dragon? Who the fuck is the dragon?” Trying to distract him from questioning you.
“Hmmm, I’m sure you do.” He repeated your tone earlier. “Your dragon, the one who had buried Jacob 6-feet on the ground earlier during tug-of-war.”
You were confused, dragon… and tug-of-war, did he mean Nick?
“You mean Nick?”
“Yeah, your boyfriend.”
“We’re not together.”
“And I’m not the best-looking counselor here. Stop spitting lies, didn’t Nick ask you out already? He said he’d do it by lunch earlier.” With a roll of his eyes, you both stood there for a second. Processing his words.
“What?”
“What?”
With the look of confusion on your face and you not saying anything back, Dylan then concluded that Nick hadn’t done it yet.
“Oops?” He looked horrified. Darting his eyes between you and Nick. Then he ran away, leaving you alone with your thoughts. Only this time it wasn’t with negative connotations. Even a mile away, everyone could see your face light up bright red, not in anger but flustered.
Now that 78% chance that Nick likes you back just jumped to a hundred. Another positive thing happening in your day. Your day turned a complete 180 degrees with Dylan’s revelation.
In the distance, Nick had been watching you, worried that your mood would turn sour, but in the back of his mind a gnawing thought had been bugging him. Something along the lines of Dylan, not so great secret keeper, and you. When you ran away, Nick had followed you.
Nick had called your name, and you turned around quickly stopping right in front of him. Your face was flushed red as you looked anywhere but at him. Nick’s heart was jumping out of his chest, with Laura’s advice earlier he felt like he could persuade you. Seeing you happy was the top of his priorities and if Cornell was the university made for you then so be it. He’d convince you if it is the last thing he’d do.
“I need to say something…” Both of you said at the same time.
“You go first.” You told him.
With a deep breath, the next words he blurted you didn’t expect. “Fuck your dad’s expectation.”
“Fuck him, you were happy with Cornell so take it. I’ve never seen someone as passionate as you talkabout insects, and those weren’t meaningless activities. Go for it, I know first-hand how hard it is to find something you’d excel at but you… this is your calling. This is you. I don’t want to see you waste your life from something that is never going to make you happy, don’t tolerate it please. I know how hard-headed you are sometimes, and how you go to these intense rambling when you find another insect for your collection. You are happy with taking entomology, that’s why you took an entrance exam because you knew you could do it. This is your calling, so take it please.”
“And I know I’m rambling when I say this, but you deserve it—”
You caught him off with a press of your lips against his. You held his face with both of your hands, kissing him passionately. At first, Nick was blinking, too shocked but when you felt his shoulders relax, he reciprocated and kissed you back as intently as well.
“I do deserve it.” You smiled against his lips, leaning your forehead against each other. You didn’t mind that your confession wasn’t as romantic as you planned, or that you were surrounded by nature or possibly the bees that followed you to the lake, it felt right. It felt perfect, so simple, so right.
“I do deserve to be selfish sometimes, and let me be selfish with you.” You whispered to him. With your hands still holding his face, he gently held your wrist and kissed it softly, looking at you with his brown eyes filled with desire. Sighing everything felt at peace.
“So that’s what has been bugging me. Did Dylan expose my secrets to you?”
“I guess you can say that”
“Nick, I wouldn’t kiss you like this if I hated you. At first, I thought you didn’t like me. I mean, you were always generous. So I wondered if you were interested in me as a girl or something.”
“I’ve been interested in you from the beginning, but I would not lie to your face when I tell you that you scared me a little bit.”
“I don’t bite, but if that’s what you want, I can adapt.”
You teased him as his face went red from the tips of his nose to his ears, he buried his face at the crook of your neck while you laughed.
With his face buried on your neck to inhale your scent: “Did I ever tell you, I liked the way you smell?”
“No, it's probably the pheromones.” You smiled as he embraced you tightly, feeling he was weaving himself to your body with the way he clings towards you. His hands were making small circles of comfort on your waist, touching where your shirt and jeans meet. You felt feverish with his touch, too drunk with everything about him.
“You smell like home to me.” He uttered as he looked at you intently.
“Why'd you say that?”
“We have Philadelphus planted near our yard…”
“You're the only person to get it right.” You kissed him once more, smiling as you felt at peace around him. “Let’s get out of here.” You whispered and felt him drag you in excitement as well.
— EXTRA —
It was morning the next day when you walked inside the lodge looking as bright as the sun. It seemed like all of your worries were forgotten.
“What are you wearing?” Laura asked.
“A hoodie.” You plainly said.
“It's 90 degrees outside and it's summer, aren't you hot.” Laura was suspicious, too suspicious.
“I have colds.” “No, you don’t, no signs of fever.”
“And you look glowing, not sick. Did you fuck in the kitchen?” She exclaimed, her jaw slack with the revelation when you smiled.
“Why is she wearing a hood?” Jacob asked, grabbing a banana right off its basket.
“Oh ‘cause our favorite counselor just got bit by a large insect we liked to call Nicky!” Dylan's voice boomed. The only sound that could be heard was the large smack of a flying object straight at Dylan’s head.
What an eventful summer indeed. a/n: after 6 months wild child is finally finished..... that was quite a long fic. now i have other duties such as ghost waltz and now im back in univ, but let me tell you i had the longest writer's block (ehem not like the first one where it was 2 years before i had written something). i know it feels like it was rushed but wild child was always supposed to end at chapter nine. i never plan on writing until the events of the game because i feel like it would be repetitive to tell the story once more. but am i happy with this ending, yes i am.
the moral lesson is its okay to put yourself first and that i liked the smell of mock oranges. but if you were curious as to what would happen, our dear reader gets bit first. ready to be the sacrificial lamb, with them being unathletic they’d be the first one down.

The Black Creek Diner
For: anonymous
Prompt: New waitress in northkill Laura and oh Travis just really likes the food there trust me guys TRUST ME ( Kaylee Chris are with him when he first sees her and they know he’s gonna be a goner )
Pairing: Travis Hackett/Laura Kearney
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
The first time Travis ate at the Black Creek diner, he didn't think much of it. The food was mediocre at best and the atmosphere was bland and boring.
At least the coffee was good.
Black Creek resembled any other backwoods diner he had ever entered. The one difference between Black Creek and any other diner was the frequent patronage of his brother and the presence of their new waitress.
He shoulda known what was happening the second Chris rode up with his kids and a sparkle in his eye, begging Travis to go with them and "be a family for once in your life Trav."
A step into the diner and Travis was acosted with three things at once.
First, the diner smelled like burning grease.
Second, Mr. Bronson was making a fool of himself again.
And third, the absolute knockout of a waitress he was trying to yell at was having none of his shit.
Waiving Chris and the kids into a booth, he made his way over to the source of the commotion.
God damnit its his day off too.
Travis has had plenty of experience dealing with John Bronson. The man was loud, disgusting and drunk 90 percent of the time. He's spent enough time locked up in the station that Travis probably knew his whole life story by now.
"What seems to be the problem here?" Travis wore his role as north kill sheriff well. He knew he could act as stern and hardass as any of em. Today was just one of the days he didn't want to have to do it.
Travis towered behind the waitress. Glowering over the top of her head to scare the man in the booth.
"You know you ain't supposed to be causing trouble John"
He could feel the woman stiffen at his proximity. From the corner of his eye, he watched her turn and gape at him.
The drunk bastard paled. Even had the audacity to look at the waitress he was just harassing for help. As if help was going to come from her after all his bullshit.
"Sheriff Hackett I was just.."
He held up his hand to stop the man from continuing his excuses. Earning a huff of amusement from the woman standing beside him.
God n everybody knew what he was "just" doing. Travis wasn't gonna have it today.
"I don't want to hear your excuses John. Get outta here before I throw you in the cells for a cool down. Don't make me have to do my job today"
Travis watched as the portly man pulled himself from the booth to stumble home. Pulling the man back. He looked him dead in the eye to deliver his next line, making damn sure the man heard him.
"And for the love of christ John. Pay for your meal and call your sister to come pick you up."
He released John and stood back. Raising an eyebrow to show that he was dead serious. the man probably sensed how done Travis was with him because he nodded, red-faced and shamed.
"Sure thing Sheriff"
Travis wanted to make damn sure that waitress wasn't going to get harassed more. So he stood with her until John finally opened the door to leave.
Well...he might also have some ulterior motives by keeping her company.
"You didn't have to do that" The waitress moved to stand in front of him. Peering up at him with a wry grin on her face.
Beautiful blue eyes danced with mirth. He couldn't help but feel enchanted by her. Travis fought the urge to reach down and tug at a stray piece of her hair while she was talking. He wished he could feel the silky golden locks tangle through his fingers as he played with it.
Shaking his head to clear the fantasies from them, Travis turned his attention back to her. He fixed her with his best smile.
Hoping she didn't notice his absentmindedness.
"Well miss ......" Travis trailed off. He didn't know her name.
He looked down to read the name tag pinned to her chest and caught himself looking a little to hard at parts that weren't a nametag. Feeling the sting of mortification, he blushed.
He shot his eyes back up to hers quickly. Travis coughed, really hoping she didn't notice where his gaze went.
It'd be just his luck to scare away the prettiest girl hed ever seen by accidentally being a pervert.
When he caught Laura's eye. He knew he'd been had. The twinkling in her own blue gaze set the tips of his ears to burn in embarrassment. He rushed to finish his statement. Hoping to go sit down with his family and not cause the poor woman anymore trouble
"I'm just doing my job. The local Sheriff can't be off duty, even when he is."
She smiled a bright, toothy grin at him and waved him off. The swish of her checkered dress at her thighs hypnotized him.
Turning to old Marge behind the counter, Laura leaned over it to speak to the old woman.
"Hey Marge, can we get Sheriff Hackett something on the house?"
"For scaring away John? Absolutely sweetie. Whatever he wants"
"You didn't have to...." Stuttering, Travis finally got himself to moving. He caught the end of the booth his family was in and tried to look nonchalant.
He didn't notice Caleb had been smearing ketchup along the top of it until his hand rested smack dab in the middle of it.
Disgusting.
He must have made a face at the mess because Laura's responding laugh was the most beautiful thing he'd ever heard.
Travis nearly missed grabbing the wet rag she tossed at him.
What a fool. Turned into a nervous wreck at the sight of a beautiful woman.
"Of course I did." Laura took back the rag and waved him into the booth, "Now, sit with your family. I'll be back to take your order"
Travis shakily took the menu from Chris. Catching his brothers eye and narrowing his own in return. He could see the wheels turning in his brothers head
What mischief did Chris have planned?
"You just earned yourself an admirer Trav."
"Shut up man, I was just doin my job"
"Miss Laura never thanks anyone for helping her out. You're the first....ever"
Travis just about reached over to smack Chris with the menu. Luckily for Chris, his children were present and Ma taught him better than that.
he still really wants to do it.
It was then that little Kaylee started screaming about waffles and the whole incident was quickly forgotten.
Travis ended up spending the rest of his meal dodging little fingers covered in syrup and helping Chris contain the mess that his two children were determined to cause.
His brother's little quip about Laura was quickly forgotten in the aftermath of the 2023 pancake apocalypse.
The woman herself wasnt.
The next week. Travis came in alone, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beautiful waitress and knowing he'd chicken out when it came to actually asking her for anything.
The tinkle of the door alerted Marge to his patronage and she waved him over.
Walking up to the counter, he looked around for Laura. Hoping to catch a glimpse of her golden curls or ocean blue eyes.
Unluckily for Travis. He didn't see her. Just old Marge manning the register and snapping at Mickey in the back. He stopped at the seat that would be his usual and adjusted his collar in anticipation. Fidgeting with the too hot uniform was a nervous habit he could never quite break.
He really hoped Laura was here. Maybe she was just somewhere in the back.
Travis jumped as the older woman slapped down a menu and some utensils. Smirking at him with that knowing smirk she's had since he was a wee one clinging to his mothers skirts.
"Laura's on break round back if you want to see her?"
Travis startled visibly. All wish for coffee deserted him in the wake of her cheerful accusation. He felt the tips of his ears burn again and stuttered out a response.
Is he that transparent?
"I don't..... I don't really know her that well Marge." His hand reached back to run through his hair. It was another nervous habit he couldn't seem to break.
The old woman turned to wave him away. Grabbing the coffee pot and setting that and a cup in front of him.
"Just between you and me Travis, she couldn't shut up about you. Every time Chris and the kids come in, she's always asking about you. Take it from me kid, go round back. Give her a holler."
If Travis just happened to miss the woman pull out her phone in his haste to get out the door...well. He can blame it on the poor lighting.
Somewhere in a house down the road, Chris recieved a text from old Marge and cheered.

Letters found in Chris office:
"Max Brinly, Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp, Northkill, New York State"
"Laure Kearney, Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp, Northkill New York State"
Interesting Notes:
Airmail?
The handwritten N on the first letter to Max is different to the two other letters that are handwritten.
the second and third could be in the same writing
the one to Laura is typed and glued (?) on the envelope and secured with tape.
Enjoy your headcanons and theories!

a little infodump on miss blair!!
she was born in northkill, upstate new york. she befriended travis and chris growing up, but got along more with chris, essentially viewing him as a brother. she and travis butted heads a lot lmao. eventually as they got older, blair moved away to study to become a doctor.
years later she returned to northkill, reuniting with chris and met his kids, caleb and kaylee. she also reunites with travis and they reconnect, both of them realizing they had feelings for each other since they were kids but had been too stubborn to figure it out. she had gone with caleb and kaylee to the harum scarum on that fateful day when the fire happened and silas was set free. as blair set off to find them, she was attacked by silas, losing an eye and was bitten.
she transformed into a werewolf and ran off into the hackett woods and remains there as the events from the quarry happen. travis sees killing silas for personal than just saving his family. he wants to save blair!!

" we're getting out of here. together. now. " : from ryan.
" DAMMIT, RYAN ! " blood like rubies is scattered across the floorboards, slowly seeping into the wood and staining it ruddy. if that didn't make the other male understand, WHAT WOULD? this situation was dire, it was ᵈᵃⁿᵍᵉʳᵒᵘˢ, and normally caleb would heal but the silver in his leg says differently. he was fucked this time, and even if they had all the time in the world to pick the pellets out of his wound, he still wasn't sure they'd make it. this isn't ʰᵃᶜᵏᵉᵗᵗ'ˢ qᵘᵃʳʳʸ anymore, they left after the massacre of caleb's family, and as it turns out .... the some people in this world knew just as much about him as he did. people who wanted to see him die for it. and maybe he deserved that— but ryan? NEVER RYAN.

Return to The Quarry - Chapter One (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/1461539519-return-to-the-quarry-chapter-one?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_reading&wp_uname=Conspicuous_Mending It's 2027. On this night, they have found themselves captive alongside the hapless counselors while pursuing one such secret: the disappearances of a silent film actress in 1925, and her biographer later in 1953.

What about writing a The Quarry "police statement" ending with the counselors just like Until Dawn based on your playthrough (who died, important actions, choices etc)
Gods, I had so much fun writing this ! Thank you for this ask ! I watched a lot of let’s plays before having my own run, so basically it was an everybody lives + all evidence found (and Dylan kept his hand !). It was better to have to write all the counselors say something, so it’s cool.
Anyways, here are my version of The Quarry’s ending, because it should have been like this.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄, 𝗨𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲
NORTHKILL POLICE DEPARTMENT - MORNING OF AUGUST 23
[START OF THE TRANSCRIPTION]
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 1
[OFFICER] : Young man, we need your help on this. Don't you remember anything?
[N. FURCILLO] : I- I told you. This... animal it- it attacked me and Abi. In the woods. It bit me in the leg-
[OFFICER] : Where, exactly ? You don't have any scratch on you.
[N. FURCILLO] : I can assure you- it- it- it was bleeding so much! I just- I remember feeling weird after. I think I said mean stuff to Abi... I- pushed her? Wait, is she okay?! Where is-
[OFFICER] : Sir, answer our questions. What happened next?
[N. FURCILLO] : As I told you before, I. Don’t. Remember. A. Single. Thing.
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 4
[J. CUSTOS] : Look man... I don’t understand shit to what happened, okay? Whatever you’re searching for, it’s the Hackett’s. They’re fucking crazy! Trapped me in some sicko cage- if it wasn’t for Ryan and that girl freeing me I’d still be down there-
[OFFICER] : So you’re stating that Mr. Erzahler and Miss Kearney were at the Hackett’s house around 1:30AM ?
[J. CUSTOS] : I- yeah I guess, but don’t you hear what I’m saying? I almost got shredded by that creepy ass animal, I’m telling you it’s not human- and it’s not all, those freaks covered me in what I think is blood!
[OFFICER] : Sir, can you describe the animal?
[J. CUSTOS] : Uh... animal isn’t the term man... it had some kind of- of human form? But like... long. Bloody. Just... I just want to forget it.
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 5
[L. KEARNEY] : No, no FUCKING way. I am NOT dealing with bastards cops again!
[OFFICER] : Lady, I’m gonna need you to calm down. Don’t make me use force. The other counselors said that you weren’t there during the camp. explain me how you disappeared for two whole months.
[L. KEARNEY] : Are you deaf? We were kidnapped by that damn cop because we stumbled into the Hackett’s fucking cursed family issues-
[OFFICER] : Speaking of the Hackett’s. We found the bodies of Constance Hackett and Christopher Hackett shot dead. You have agreed that you were at their house with Mr. Erzahler, what do you have to say about that?
[L. KEARNEY] : Listen. I didn’t do shit. It’s the old hag’s own fault that she got shot. If you had taken one look at her, you’d see she deserved it. As for Chris, he was trying to fucking kill us! Ryan saved everyone in the room by shooting him-
[OFFICER] : So you’re saying Mr. Erzahler murdered Mr. Hackett?
[L. KEARNEY] : I- no- I mean, yes but- don’t twist it like that you!- I...
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 7
[OFFICER] : So, you found a possible working car at the Hackett scrap yard. Why leave it to go back?
[K. KA] : I told you, we almost got mauled to death! Dylan knocked it out temporarily by dropping the car, we weren’t gonna take our chances with it. We went back to the lodge.
[OFFICER] : The lodge, right. We have found the deceased body of Caleb Hackett there, do you have anything to say about that?
[K. KA] : Wh- who? Wait, you mean Mr. H’s son? What the fuck was he doing th- Oh- oh...
[OFFICER] : He was shot, and you were the one with the shotgun in the morning. Miss, did you shoot Caleb Hackett?
[K. KA] : What?! No! What I shot was a fucking monster who was going to brutally kill Dylan and me! It wasn’t a guy, I’m telling you!
[OFFICER] : You and your coworkers keep talking about creatures and monsters. We have found alcohol bottles around the fire pit. Did you take any other kind of drug before the events of the night?
[K. KA] : Fucking hell, we only drank a beer! We were totally sober, it wasn’t some kind of hallucinations, you- [redacted].
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 2
[E. MOUNTEBANK] : Instead of interrogating me, you should be investing. There is some serious shit going on at Hackett’s Quarry. I bet you don’t believe me. Go see in the treehouse for yourself.
[OFFICER] : We already did. All we found was Mr. Brinly there, not a single “creature”.
[E. MOUNTEBANK] : Brinly, as in the-counselor-who-didn’t-show-up Max Brinly? The girl, Laura’s boyfriend ? Wait, so that means... Mr. H...
[OFFICER] : Yes, him. What about Mr. Hackett?
[E. MOUNTEBANK] : I- nothing.
[OFFICER] : Miss, if you’re withholding informations-
[E. MOUNTEBANK] : I am not. Besides, I got proof. If you just give me my damn phone back, I got a picture of it-
[OFFICER] : Your phone will be looked through. Where were you at about 4AM?
[E. MOUNTEBANK] : I had other preoccupation than the damn time- ugh. I think it was when Abi and I were in the basement, or when we climbed into Mr. H’s office. The doors were locked, but you know that.
[OFFICER] : Right. Why were you hiding?
[E. MOUNTEBANK] : We were’t hiding- I mean, well- we were trying to stay alive. It was the only place the- the... things could not hurt us.
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 8
[OFFICER] : We are being serious here, Mr. Lenivy. As of now, three dead bodies have been found-
[D. LENIVY] : Wait, three-?! Who are they- is it- is Ryan okay?
[OFFICER] : Mr. Erzahler is alive. It seems he was wounded but he will survive. The bodies all belong to the Hackett family.
[D. LENIVY] : Ah, great- I mean, no! Not great, definitely, uhm-
[OFFICER] : Sir, do you confirm being in the lodge around around 4AM with Miss Ka?
[D. LENIVY] : Uh, yeah. Not so much “being” as “hiding for my fucking life”.
[OFFICER] : Miss Ka has admitted to have shot Caleb Hackett. Is it true?
[D. LENIVY] : It’s true that she saved my goddamned life, yeah. Wait, rewind a bit- Caleb Hackett? It was him? Never mind, Kaitlyn is a fucking hero and I really don’t like the way you seem to... implicate otherwise- you’re not accusing her are you?
[OFFICER] : Look, we have dead bodies on our hands. They didn’t kill themselves. Now, about Kaylee Hackett, do you-
[D. LENIVY] : Nope. No, no, not telling you anything.
[OFFICER] : Sir, you have to-
[D. LENIVY] : I don’t have to nothing. I have the right to a lawyer, and I want one. You’re not getting anything else from me.
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 3
[OFFICER] : Miss, please. I need you to tell me what happened.
[A. BLYG] : I- it’s just so messy. So confusing... I...
[OFFICER] : How about Mr. Furcillo. He said that you were in the woods before you got attacked. Is that right?
[A. BLYG] : It is, yeah... just because of that stupid game, God it’s my fault, if I hadn’t run away then-
[OFFICER] : Then what?
[A. BLYG] : He wouldn’t have gotten bit. That’s when it all started to go south. There was so much blood, the wound was so big... I tried to help, I really did, I swear-
[OFFICER] : What happened next, miss?
[A. BLYG] : He wasn’t the same. I spent two months with him, I just know that wasn’t Nick- he became so agressive, I had to! He would have killed me otherwise! It’s my fault he died-
[OFFICER] : Mr. Furcillo isn’t dead. We found him in the forest at dawn. Do you have any idea how he might have got there?
[A. BLYG] : He’s- he’s alive? I- woah- uh-... No sir, so I don’t have any idea. He just- left... after... yeah.
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 6
[OFFICER] : Mr. Brinly, do you have any recollection of the night?
[M. BRINLY] : Where is Laura?
[OFFICER] : Sir, please answer-
[M. BRINLY] : No. Where is Laura? I’m not telling you anything before you tell me if she’s alright.
[OFFICER] : Laura Kearney is fine and is at the precinct. Now, she claims that you two were held hostage by Travis Hackett, is it true?
[M. BRINLY] : Yeah it is. That asshole kept us locked.
[OFFICER] : So, after this you escaped and went to Hackett’s Quarry. Why go there and not flee?
[M. BRINLY] : It’s.. complicated to explain. We had business to take care of.
[OFFICER] : What kind of business?
[M. BRINLY] : You wouldn’t understand. Heck, you wouldn’t even believe it.
[OFFICER] : Why don’t you try and give me your version. Your statement of the night.
[M. BRINLY] : ...I’m telling you. It’s messed up... so fucking messed up...
NORTHKILL PRECINCT - ROOM 9
[OFFICER] : Look, sir. We need you to collaborate. We can’t figure it out if you won’t tell us.
[R. ERZAHLER] : (...)
[OFFICER] : You realize that your silence isn’t helping your case.
[R. ERZAHLER] : (...)
[OFFICER] : We have several witnesses placing you at the Hackett’s house at the time of death of Constance and Christopher Hackett.
[R. ERZAHLER] : (...)
[OFFICER] : You are currently the lead suspect for those murders, don’t you have anything to say about that, Mr. Erzahler ?
[R. ERZAHLER] : (...)
[OFFICER] : Okay, we are clearly getting nowhere with this.

"Are you on the menu?"
pairing- Travis Hackett x f!reader
warnings- swearing, suggestive nsfw, nothing really
genre- fluff
summary- Travis comes in for his coffee and to see his partner for his usual.
You stare off into the soul of the cardboard cutout, “it doesn’t look right, I feel like it’s staring at me.” You’re the owner of the small but quaint café, but it was busy seeing as it was the only one in northkill. One of your employees had the ‘great’ idea to have a little cat in the coffee bean and mug section, turns out trying to go with a cute cat can give any child nightmares. The thing printed onto the cardboard held up by a shelf was the most horrific thing you could have ever seen, and you helped hunt and kill Silas.
You heard the ding of the door and continued to stare at the monstrosity before you, “it’s kind of c-“ Before your employee, Lance could finish you put your hand up to shush him. “Don’t lie to me Lance, if that thing’s cute, lord have fucking mercy.” You hid your face in your hands, hoping maybe if you couldn’t see it the mental image would disappear with it.
Shaking your head you walked to the register, looking up to see your loving husband, also known as northkill sheriff. “Ma’am,” he teases, tipping his nonexistent hat. “Morning sheriff Hackett, what can I get for you.” You flirt back, giving a sly wink. He pretends to think. You and Travis do this every morning. “Mmmmm, are you on the menu?” You hear Lance gag but you ignore him, you giggle and put the coffee grinds into the portafilter. Pushing down with the plunger before hooking it up to the machine, the soft brrr sound of the machine and splash of coffee filled the shop.
Once it was done you placed the newly brewed coffee and fresh croissant on his table, giving the brunette a quick kiss on the cheek. He mumbles a quiet thank you before pulling out the latest newspaper. You head to the back, grabbing the creepy cardboard cut out on your way.
“You have him wrapped around that little finger of yours,” Lance taunted. You rolled your eyes before checking supplies, grabbing the clipboard from its hooks, and writing down things that were out of stock or running low. You ripped the page off, taking an envelope and sealing it off. “You taking this down to the post or am I?” Lance glanced at the now bent cardboard and shivered, he grabbed the envelope. “Anything to get away from that eyesore,” you chuckled as he walked away.
Once he was gone out of eyeshot you walked over to Travis, who moved his chair back and put his newspaper down. You took that as an invitation to sit on his lap. After ‘getting comfortable’ you finally settled, “Are you doing anything later?” You shot a playful look at Travis, a smile stretched across his face. “I can maybe fit you into my tight schedule.”

the quarry but every character has a different role
jacob is now in max's shoes. distressed dogboy that loves naught but his gf and also processed snack foods. this sad little woof woof finding a crop top and yoga pants and being like "oh hell yeah i can make this work" only to get murked by kaylee hackett on the other side of the island
emma is now in laura's position. she broke up with jacob the day before they managed to escape chris hackett's Jail for Dogs & Ne'er-Do-Wells and now she feels like she needs to alleviate his curse bc he's been pretty bummed out since. vlogging her entire trip to the hackett house with the expressed intent to murder a man
ryan is in abi's role. the suave announcements boy has been on his mind this entire time and the day that they both finally tell each other that they like each other, he gets infected with Says Really Mean Things And Attempts Homicide On You And Also Is A Werewolf disease. he's abt to start biting ppl fr
dylan is in a similar situation to nick. not only did abi just kiss him for no real reason at the firepit but finally when he tells the guy he's liked all summer that he likes him, he gets attacked by a fucking bear??? homophobia still has some shooters out there apparently! also he's saying rude things he doesn't mean and it hurts :(
abi is now filling emma's role. she and the cute australian guy have been flirting all summer but she seriously misfires bc she assumes that making him jealous would be what made him want to make things official. plus now she's wearing baggy-ass clothes and running from murderous animals(?) so things have been tough lately
nick is currently in jacob's situation. he planned on making tonight the night he asked abi to go steady, but completely forgot that this was the day they left camp, so he oopsie poopsies the van. whoops nick you did a fucky wucky and now people are dying! also he had to watch abi kiss a very vehemently gay man to make him jealous and also he's naked. bad night overall buddy
laura is in kaitlyn's shoes. she's literally the only person here with an okay response to trauma, although a bit skewed since she does also tend to shoot at the problem first. the bright side is that she gets to be with her boyfriend for most of the entire night, so that's neat! (and come on of course she would get after max for not knowing the hackett's quarry song)
max is now in dylan's role. he's mostly just scared shitless of kaitlyn so the speech over the intercom is part fear of the bears(?) and part fear that kaitlyn will stab him if he gets the terminology wrong. ready to lay down his life to protect his gf, even if he's abt to turn into a werewolf. he's gonna react even more severely to getting maced (febreezed) by abi though, although he can act. give the boy a hand (srsly he needs it)
kaitlyn stands where ryan stood in canon. she's so confused when abi gives her the dare to kiss either max or laura but honestly she thinks they're both cute so. when emma shows up she's like "wait where's jacob?" and emma's like "about that" and kaitlyn's like "ok so i'm going to go save my bestie and i want it known that i'm not a fan of u but i also do think you're gorgeous"
bobby now owns and runs hackett's quarry. after his duty was up, he came back and started the camp and has adored being a mentor to kids since. no one at camp ever saw him angry before the incident with the van and they're all literally terrified of him now
chris is the sheriff of northkill. he got appointed sheriff after the death of the previous sheriff in the fire at eliza's sideshow, and has taken the position very seriously, in exchange for keeping eliza and silas's secret (the whole werewolf thing), which is why he keeps jacob and emma over the summer
travis is constance and eliza's handyman. he's felt the need to be worthy of approval since birth, and has taken up to doing the dirty work for his mom as a way of proving himself. he's fully aware that being stabbed hurts and will do it again unprovoked
constance goes out hunting with travis. she fills the same role her husband did in canon. emma reminds her what happened to her husband and she threatens to torture her endlessly. also there's smth going on with eliza but idk they're gal pals
eliza fills the same role as constance did in canon. after the fire that burned down her sideshow and killed jedediah, constance offered to let her and her son silas stay with them. after emma kills silas during the night, she becomes silent with rage
kaylee is now the biggest threat of the hackett werewolves. she's filling in for her brother caleb. freeze-dried girlboss
silas is floating in the pool now. rip dogboy. also he was the one that convinced kaylee to start the fire. manipulative little shit
caleb is patient zero. after helping to rescue silas and eliza from the sideshow, caleb notices a bite on his leg. while running from the flames, the "dog man" (eliza's ex-husband) bit him. the dog man died in the fire, but the curse lived on, as caleb left his grandfather to die in the chaos
jedediah's taken up tarot since dying. he cursed his bloodline after seeing caleb and kaylee among the flames, refusing to save him, opting instead to save an albino boy and a woman that he barely knew. he's now trying to convince whoever is listening to off the vorez family, even at the cost of his own family. plus lance hendriksen would fucking slay this role i mean come on
