An (almost) impromptu first-time visit to @villa_alba_museum yesterday to hear a truly enlightening presentation by @nicole__jenkins on overlooked Australian fashion designer Norma Tullo and then an all too brief viewing of The Feminine Aesthetic: Fashion and design in Melbourne 1860-2000 which includes works by Tullo, one of @viviennewestwood’s 1980s mini crinis and a 1971 silk organza wedding dress by the Oggi Fashion House. I found this Viyella fashion liftout from an Australian Women's Weekly when I was sorting out vintage dressmaking patterns to take to the Grampians Textures twilight market tomorrow. Unfortunately I couldn't find a date anywhere, but it mentions that Viyella was $2.75 a yard, and the patterns were from 80c to $1.20 - including postage! A couple of designs are by Norma Tullo, an Australian designer from the 60s - 80s.
