Bring Them Down ('15'): X-Rated For Sheep (Pt. 2).
One Mann's Movies Film Review of "Bring Them Down". A bloody and gritty Irish-set farm drama that makes shepherding look a dangerous business. 4/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “Bring Them Down” (2024) (From the 2024 London Film Festival). I first used the review title “X-rated for Sheep” for the 2015 film “Far From the Madding Crowd” with Carey Mulligan. You might remember that this movie starts with a flock of sheep being chased off the cliff at Golden Cap in Dorset by a dog. But believe me, this is NOTHING compared to the fate of some…

2023 Horror Challenge: [12/?]
↳“Don't let me lose my sister, okay, she's the only thing I have left in this entire life, please.” 12 Feet Deep (2017) dir. Matt Eskandari
Plot: Two sisters are trapped under the fiberglass cover of an Olympic-sized public pool and must brave the cold and each other to survive the harrowing night.
Starring: Alexandra Park, Nora-Jane Noone, Diane Farr & Tobin Bell
I went into this movie with very little expectations because like most people, I wondered if this scenario seemed realistic. It's actually sold as based on true events so perhaps there are people out there where this has happened to them. At the very least, they did their best making the reason why they get stuck in the pool to be believable. The two leads are both familiar faces to me (Alexandra Park from The Royals & Nora-Jane Noone from modern horror classic The Descent) and I personally think they did a good job. I'm a sucker for the concept of a person/people being stuck somewhere in a life-threatening situation because that to me is so honestly terrifying to think about (The Shallows, Fall, Buried, 47 Meters Down) It does fall into a few of the usual tropes of its subgenre but then there are a couple plot points that do give it some tension beyond getting out of the pool. It's only a little over an hour and does maintain tension in that time. I will say it was weird seeing Tobin Bell in what was essentially a pointless cameo in the beginning with him being such a horror icon. Anyway, this is not a movie for everyone but if you have a thing for the stranded subgenre it's worth checking out I guess, even if I definitely prefer others to it. I mostly watched for Alexandra. lol
