Wisher—In a panic your mind starts to reel. Infinite wishes! You can do anything. Everything. You could feed the starving, stop all war, make pet owners of any you to pet their dogs when you see them on the side of the street. But what should you do first. If you favor the homeless, what would the hungry think of you. But if you make it one big wish what’s the point of having infinite wishes. You could start small. Maybe wish for a nice bouncy ball. But how could you bounce it on sand. You’re in a freaking dessert. What if you wish for an umbrella to get you out of the sun for a while. But that’s a personal wish. And you wanted to help the world. You could ask for water. You could ask for more clouds. You could ask for the desserts to turn to forests. You could ask for the wealth of the world to be equally distributed amongst all its inhabitants. You could ask for all the food bowls of all the pets and animals on earth to never run out. You could ask for a cool hat.
You could ask for…
You could ask for…
Ask for….
Ask for…
Ask for………….
Ask…………..
Ask…………………
Ask…………………………………..
Ask
Ask
Ask
Ask
Ask
Ask
Ask
Ask
.
.
.
.
The genie watches as you slowly crouch down into the fetal position crying in a manic panic. Unable to make even your first wish.
The Genie says, “Are you okay? Do you need something?”
“I’m having a panic attack. My therapist warned me about this. I had three wishes and was planning on having three and you gave me infinity and I don’t know what to do. What do I ask for? Where do I start? What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?…..”
Genie—As a genie you have always done what you were told. Stuck in containment for millennia now, just being outside brings you immense joy. But being asked what your new controller wants you to do for them, and not them just demanding riches, concubines, or the world; well that was not on your bingo card for the day. You lean down and try to get their attention but hear that their “What do I do?” Has changed to “I don’t know what to do.” You feel something. You never feel anything. It’s part of the eternal torture, to be devoid of any emotion other than the drive to do as you’re told. You feel sympathy. You feel scared. You feel nervous. You feel happy this one’s different. You feel. You feel.
You feel.
You feel.
YOU FEEL!!!
“In order for me to help you, I need to touch you. Can I hold your hand?”
In their fetal position murmuring a hand emerges. You grab it and quickly, through the vale, through the earth, through the fabric that binds you to this eternal servitude, you land in a field. A wide open, rolling hills, goes for miles, covered in tulips of every color and shade and shape field.
“Look up.”
Wisher—The first thing you notice is the smell. The smell of flowers. Tulips. Your feet are not in sand anymore. The ground has changed. It’s soil. Dirt. A little damp. It feels cool between your toes. The sun is different. Shifted. It’s on your left now. Straight down on your back. Something brushes your arm. You poke your head up and hit it away, and are met with a view you only dreamed of.
The Netherlands. Noordoostpolder.
The panic has subsided into a feast for your eyes. Overwhelmed from the sudden change you start to giggle. A giggle that turns into a laugh. A laugh you have not had for a long time. Joy radiates through your body.
“Thank you.”
You stare off into the distance seeing if you can see the end of the fields.
“I’ve always wanted to visit but could never find the time. How did you know this was the right place?”
Genie—Their asking you a question again. Not one you’ve answered before. How do you answer. How do you explain to them the intricacies of being a genie.
“This was the place your mother always wanted to go. Your therapist suggested you visit it to start the healing process, but instead you found me. You asked me to help you.”
Wisher—“How do you know that?”
Genie—“I’m yours to command. And while under your command, I know all about you.”
W—“I did not ask you to give me a therapy session.”
G—“Then ask better next time.”
W—“How dare you.”
G—“I’m here to follow your command. You have endless wishes. But you did not wish anything. So I must do everything to get you to wish. If that means giving you a ‘Therapy session’ in the middle of a field of these ugly flowers, then so be it. You are tied to me just as much as I Am TO YOU!”
W—“I WISH YOU WOULD LEAVE ME ALONE!!”
G—“I know this is not what you need, but I can not deny what you wish.”
W—The genie in front of you dissolves into the air around them. As they say their final words all that’s left floating are their lips that whisper “Wish” and fade into the air.
The crushing silence surrounding you fills the air. A light breeze crosses your face. You start to cry. Crying turns to sobbing. Sobbing turns to wailing. Your mother should be here with you. Your mother needs to see this. You could wish for your mother to be here. You could simply ask Genie to bring her back. Bring her to you. Make her see what you see. Make her live again. The Genie did say no rules. But you gave yourself rules. You can’t bring the dead back to life. They must rest where they lay. So you lay down. On the cool damp ground. And cry. Holding yourself because you are all alone. All alone.
“I shall grant three wishes, but you cannot wish for… Actually, fuck it. You get infinite wishes and no rules, let’s see where this goes.”

Politici de mist in met tweets
Verkiezingstijd!
