its understandable to me that a large part of a content creator's love for their fans is a love for the love that they are getting. like fame and wealth are obviously the majority of why a content creator would have any sort of affection for the people who look up to them. but theres something so disgusting about the complete lack of humility and shameless greed that fueled so much of wilbur's career. especially since it was marketed to be based on sharing passion projects and deeply personal feelings. to the point of using your new status as a recognizable figure in order to assert dominance over your ex who did god knows how much emotional labor in your early stages. its to the point that his memory gives me uncanny valley with how inhuman it all feels.
