Note: This is my first time watching the whole episode, but I already knew the broad idea on where the story goes

I have decided to stop acting like I don't make messy notes when I'm watching something (yes, even in a studio theater), so I'm just copy-pasting that here:

Dale "I would do literally everything for my job" is becoming more obvious, and meanwhile Helen is baffled by it

Geoff and Evelyn talked about his career over their overdosed daughter. They deserve the worst parents of the year award. Seriously they move more like a celeb and his agent/manager, rather than a married couple

No Helen is really insecure about Tim. Was she afraid Dale has been secretly keeping in touch with Tim behind her?

Geoff is literally every bad father ever. They work their ass off to give you money and assume that's it, parenting done!! 👍 

Evelyn measures out the money spent on the recovery omg. she's such a 24/7 manager. She should have owned an agency, not a family 

Oh yeah, this is definitely the start of Helen realizing that this network is a jail for her and her principles, and she needs to get out of there. Cue Charlie being the right man in the right moment

I think that's why Helen broke the relationship entirely rather than just rejecting the engagement. For Dale, his life is News at 6 and Helen. And his purpose is to perfect both of them for foreseeable future. For Helen, her current position starts to feel more like a jail. She knows she has something better for her somewhere.

I think the Charles/Diana parallel is that both Diana and Helen are both women who are expected to be content with what their lives are going right now, but both actually feel trapped by it
