Hard lives still exist all over the world now, although those of us that live in 'painted-in-pink' western countries sometimes see those places and peoples as very distant. It seems that as we are reap the benefits of high technologies, we are somehow ignoring the suffering of others. At a time when all human life is threatened by the consequences of greed, ultra rich powers and conflict, we need to hold on tightly to love and hope and not let them slip through our fingers. Only in this way can we achieve peace and harmony on our planet, through love and tolerance, regardless of our many differences

artist name: Georgina Howard work title: The Hierarchy of the Cat In this piece Georgina explores the shift and generational change she has observed in the role of a mother. She was raised by a devoted stay at home mother who was ever present, until her children eventually flew the nest. This traditional ideal is now less attainable for the modern female, with higher expectations and financial pressures beyond raising a family. Another image from the ‘Awakening’ series, ‘The Hierarchy of the Cat’ refers to the mother filling the void of the departed children; she has the cat to nurture and care for once again.

As the paint was dripping off of the masks, it became a metaphor of the traces that contraction of emotions and experiences leave on human faces overtime.
