Winter line-up of lunchtime concerts in Sandton
Classical music concerts take place at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square in Sandton every Friday at 1pm, no need to book, R50 includes coffee and biscuits.
Auto & General Theatre on the Square prides itself on being the only venue in Gauteng to host regular weekly music concerts during the day. This year we celebrate hosting 10 years of these intimate concerts with some of South Africa’s leading musicians and many international artists.
Concerts take place every Friday at 1pm. No need to book! Unreserved tickets (R50 only) are available at the box office from 12.30. (The price includes coffee and biscuits).
28 April A programme of French music (Couperin, Debussy and Saint-Saens) with a stop in Spain (de Falla) with SUSAN MOUTON (cello) and ANNALIEN BALL (piano)
5 May FOREVER YOUNG The fabulous and much loved singing sisters, ANDRE HATTINGH and JENNY HATTINGH A musical journey through the sixties and seventies with works by the Seekers, Peter, Paul and Mary, John Denver, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell
12 May A captivating programme for flute and piano with ISABEL BRADLEY and SUSAN VAN DER WAT with works by Rachmaninoff, Poulenc and Kuhlar
19 May MOMENTS WITH MENDELSSOHN Duo with CAREL HENN (cello) and ELIZE KRUGER (piano)
26 May In concert with two leading SA violinists MIRO CHAKARYAN and ZANTA HOFMEYR
2 June String Quartet featuring violinist PENDO MASOTE Violin delights to include Summer from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons
9 June Accomplished flautist MALANE HOFMEYR-BURGER is accompanied by the brilliant young AMY STESSL. They will play Doppler’s Concerto for two flutes and works by Mozart, Faure, Bach and Demersseman.

Classical Music 2017
Now for 10 years, Auto & General Theatre on the Square prides itself on being the only venue in Gauteng to host regular weekly music concerts during the day.
In 2017, leading South African and international classical musicians, both established and rising stars, will grace the stage with their extraordinary talents and exciting varied programmes.
Exciting new Friday lunch hour classical music line-up for 2017 released at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square in Sandton.

27 January MUSIC TO HERALD THE NEW YEAR! Trio for piano and strings featuring MIRO CHAKARYAN (violin), JACOB SWART (piano) and SUSAN MOUTON (cello)
3 February ONE HOUR WITH POULENC with the JUDELL ENSEMBLE CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT SERIES The first ion the series will include a selection of Poulenc’s most epic works for wind instruments, piano and voice featuring POLINA MINATCHEVA (piano), musicians and vocalists.
10 February THE TONY YOKO JAZZ TRIO (part of the International Jazz Weekend at the Theatre on the Square) with SOPHIA NEMAND piano/vocals, MARC DUBY and TONY YOKO
