feeling so disappointed with the state of hoyoverse rn,, i don't rlly talk ab my genshin interest bcuz it's Kinda cringe but i've been playing since release and i'm a huge fan of hi3 and hsr as well,, mostly cuz i love building characters n beating content and theorycrafting and stats,, and at the moment with natlan and hoyoverse continuing to hire predators i'm just😕😕

honestly i don't know how a company can fuck up this bad, like everyone knows companies suck and that they're all greedy but . i mean what can you expect from a company that profits off of gacha mechanics. i've never liked hoyoverse, before carole pepper came out, when xinyan was p much the only char with racist undertones, and it just seems to get worse and worse. listen if hoyoverse doesn't want to add diff skin tones and represent cultures accurately whatever. but why on earth would you go out of your way to try and create a culturally diverse game. like if you can't make dark characters and represent natives and mesoamericans and mesopotamia correctly then why try?? all you'll end up with is a racist mess?? just make white+east asian countries if you hate dark people that much😭😭

i wasn't rlly playing for sumeru release so i didn't get to see the bombshell of every character being the color of mayonnaise. and natlan is just a huge mess like why do you have mesoamericans, indigenous americans, and polynesians all grouped together?? with african inspirations?? why the hell is the hawai'ian girl dancing with maracas??? this is just sad and i'm a lil upset to see a bit of a comforting game for me snowball downhill like this. hopefully they start giving a fuck in the future but idk🫠

the sunday mood is, yet again, running away to start from scratch and opening a cafe, where is it located, what's the general mood and music, and what drinks special is on the menu? (for those of you that weren't here for the of original question, what would be your signature dish/snack served there?)

I sat on this for a while and couldn't come up with my own concept, so I'm just gonna talk about my favourite bits of places I've been in real life :3

One of my favourite cafés is a little local place. One of the tables is made of wood with a big split down the middle that's filled with coffee beans and resin. You can order tea by the pot for like $3, so I tend to order that when I have time to kill and I'll sit and slowly go through the pot while browsing the internet or reading a book; there's several different teapots that they have there and I always get excited when they give me the one where the lid handle is a lounging cat 🐈🫖 They're really friendly there and there was a while where I went in often enough that the staff would always recognise me and the owner once used food colouring to make rainbow foam on my chai latte. The two food items I usually get there are either a bagel with cream cheese or a Nanaimo bar (a Canadian dessert bar with a coconut layer on the bottom, a custard layer in the middle, and a chocolate layer on the top). I haven't really been going ever since the pandemic started, but the most recent time that I went was about a month ago when I got an iced matcha after being at the pride fest in a nearby park.

When I was away at college, I was seeing a psychiatrist way across town and had to transfer buses to get there. Across from the bus stop was a crêperie that did Japanese-style crêpes. Their specialty drink was various types of matcha latte, so they had all kinds of teas that were mostly not even green tea that were ground down to the matcha consistency and you could get, like, a peppermint matcha latte or an Earl Grey matcha latte. I started going there to decompress after my psychiatrist appointments and I eventually went on my very first date there with a girl from Tinder who went to my school. They had little bowls of stickers that were handmade by an artist, so I got a few of them, including one that was a bowl of alphabet soup where the letters on the surface spelled out "brains".

When I went to England, I had a few places in mind that I wanted to visit but no hard plans made ahead of time. One of these places was Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. I didn't think about the possibility of needing reservations ahead of time, so I didn't realise it until I got to England and they were booking a month in advance while I was only there for two weeks. They said on the phone that you can pop by and see if they had a cancelation that day, and while they didn't have cancelations on the day I went, there's still a lobby where you can order drinks and buy souvenirs, so I got a chai latte and they used a cat stencil for the cinnamon on top. I don't think we had a permanent cat café in Ontario yet (due to our safe food handling laws) so it was exciting just to go even if I didn't meet any of the cats.

Also while I was in England, it was my England Mum's idea to take me out for tea, so she booked a reservation at a tea room where it was this cute shabby chic aesthetic and all the chairs were mismatched. They served sandwiches and scones and fresh strawberries on a tiered tray. (British strawberries, by the way, fucking slap because a lot of the strawberries we get in Canada are the American ones that are genetically modified to ripen slower, picked while still white in California, and dyed red in Indiana, so they can be grown year-round and still survive the trip to the Ontario Food Terminal in Toronto... nothing against GMOs but those strawberries just aren't as good as normal ones 😕)

There's a place I've been to in Toronto and I don't remember what the name of the café was, but it's inside of a comic book store called The Silver Snail and the drinks at the café are named after superheroes. I remember that I got a Nutella hot chocolate made with real Nutella and they give you the spoon to lick after they scoop the Nutella, and then my friend got a chocolate-raspberry coffee drink of some kind that was named after Black Widow. It was -22°C in the middle of February so it was nice to have hot drinks that day lol
