listen i was guilty of this once upon a time too but dawg ppl GOTTA stop calling any platonic dynamic they like “siblings” without any precedence
#there are many characters where there is good right to call them siblings. but ppl have gotten so trigger happy w it#and like theres nothing wrong with viewing a dynamic that way ig but at the same time it makes ppl who may ship those characters really#uncomfortable. bcuz although there is nothing to suggest that those characters view each other in that way by calling them siblings#instantly you've made it weird for anyone who might interpret the dynamic differently#idk this is very nuanced but it just irked me a little bit#absolutely nothing against the person in the tags of my art btw power to you#but. as someone who ships pearl and scar a little it was a bit uncomfortable to see them be called siblings#i dont like ppl making ANY of the hermits siblings. like grian and pearl are a common one i see and i just. i dont get it i truly dont#none of their dynamics read like that to me. idk. again ppl have their own interpretations of things and they didnt mean any harm by it#it just made me feel a little weird#and this is a problem or well. trend ive seen in all fandoms recently#please. people are allowed to be friends and have close friendships and not have a familial element involved#esp with a girl and a boy THEY CAN JUST BE FRIENDS! #gav gab#i need to finish my aro fics#two of them are in progress rn#and both involve the aro character in question being like#not only am i aro but romantic relationships? not for me#one of them is like Friends Are It For Me and the other is interested in a qpr#but neither want romance#and i can’t help but notice that fandoms only seem to want to tolerate like#aro or arospec headcanons when they leave plausible deniability for their ship to still exist#bc of romance favourability or arospec identities that leave room for romantic feelings#not to say those headcanons are bad just that it’s really transparent to me#when fandoms will only allow ones that give them a get out of aro free card so to speak#from an allo or shipper perspective#smacks of the way they’ll allow ace characters or ace headcanons but not aro ones (obv In My Experience disclaimer)#like huh funny how you prioritize your ability to ship over anything else!#cant imagine why fandom spaces feel so inherently and explicitly hostile to me#aro blogging

i genuinely don't think a story's worldbuilding and lore has ever drawn me in the way that check please did. it's been years and i still think about it every day. the characters and plot were always superb but i think what has stuck with me the most is the depth of the settings and how everything feels so lived in and tangible. everyone wants to make a fake world and town and university but no one else has EVER done it that well
#like the college setting especially is so delicious to me#there isn't a day that goes by that i don't think about the campus map and the building names and the haus and the stop and shops#ugh i need hardcore analysis injected into my damn veins#also this could be it's own post. but#the generations of players and how every fan has different people that really speak to them#like i'm not a huge kent/tater or dex/nursey fan and honestly am pretty ambivalent to jack/bitty#(don't take this the wrong way)#but i LOVE ransom and holster and shitty and lardo#and even some of the other characters like bully and tango though i admit the later years don't hit as hard for me as the first couple#i just love that everyone finds something to go batshit over#the attention to detail was just so so incredible and still for SURE holds up#no matter what aspect#i was never super directly involved in the fandom but when i think back on formative pieces of media for me as a person and as a writer#i don't think that there are many things that compare#if you've read my writing i don't think it's hard to see the correlation at all#also if you want to talk check please analysis (or can rec me others' analysis!!!) i'd be forever grateful#otherwise i'm just going to keep marinating forever#omgcp#check please#omg check please

completely rhetorical question, I know exactly why they do, but also why do people succumb to pairing star/gale? or rather, how do they? is it not boring, do you not get bored? I cannot imagine being continuously entertained by such a bland pair. wyll is right there, man.

The Mentalist "Fugue in Red" should have absolutely been a 2 parter but not in the murder case sense. I mean they could have done it that way but it wouldn't have mattered because boy howdy there absolutely NEEDED to have been some kind of emotional resolution.
Honestly with Jane's memory being brought back in such an abrupt and traumatic manner, I had expected him to lash out or shut down and they end up separating after a messy argument.
Lisbon has to do an introspection of what exactly her motivations and whatever while Jane begins to consider his life before and after and everything else.
There was never an episode where Jane and Lisbon were separated by conflicts that didn't involve Red John and this would have been the perfect time to show case them separating because of contrasts of their personalities coming out in the ugliest ways one as a result of one of the most heartbreaking and brutal situations.
I love them but they are fundamentally messy bitches

when i mention that i have the most individual MiA fics out of any author on AO3 i am not bragging. mostly i am sad about this. fic scene is very small, total of ~200 works in all languages
i am also always noting that the characters i'm likely to read/write about aren't the same ones as the characters most of the rest of the already-small fic reader and writer scene for The Hole Show is likely to read/write about. so the following results aren't news to me
but i hadn't thought to actually compare character tags for the whole fandom to character tags for my work, and the sheer disparity between 'tags of the fandom' and 'tags of the author who wrote the most individual fics in that fandom' is...funny lol. I think the slow ego death of fandom can be pin pointed directly to the first use of the term stantwt actually
#maybe i am swinging at a hornets nest#also my personal hate towards twitter as a platform is showing and i am too tired to shove it in a closet#listen. do i think twitter COULD be a good platform and a good fandom space?#yeah sure maybe. im not ignoring that there are people who have a good time on it and cultivate a wonderful place for themselves#but u also need to come to terms with the fact that the way twitter works is fucking AWFUL for fandom culture#esp when twitter is at the same time a business platform for media people#like not just cc's but also authors/actors/etc#tumblr is prime fandom space both bc of the way it functions and bc it never has been and never will be a business space#no one is coming on here as point of contact for themselves as a brand or as promotion#but thats what twitter IS#and that space cannot coexist with fandom space without an overlap that causes problems#any part of twt fandom is fandom that overlaps with its creators and that like. defeats the point of fandom#u need to ALSO have spaces where fandom exists wholly and fully for the fans and there is no way for the creators to be involved#(unless they are actively searching at which point. that's on them! u made that decision buddy!)#but the raise of ___twt and twitter fandom spaces has caused such an insanely blurred line and has pushed this incredibly volatile#and weird morality police stance within fandom#where fandom is now policed based on purity culture bc 'what if the cc sees that!!'#and also the idea that at all times being a fan of something or someone is being a representative of that thing or person and their beliefs#which is a whoooole other wild problem#sorry for wall of text i didn't mean to go on a rant but it happened anyway LMAO
