Hot take:
Donald should have been Scrooge's successor in the finale, and the whole thing should have been everyone assuming it's Della because why wouldn't it be? She's adventurous and unstoppable and is very much like Scrooge, and to an outsider it would be clear just who would be the next Scrooge McDuck. It would not be in any way the grumpy reluctant one.
And you know what? If we're keeping the Webby twist, Webby could have been Della's clone. Because if you can't get a hold of Della for long enough, then her child would work just as well. (Obviously they cant get the triplets either)
But it's not Della. That's why her sons cant find the Papyrus. That's why they haven't found it with May and June. And they don't find it with Webby.
It's Donald who finds it. It's Donald who is the successor to Scrooge.
And this would work better plotwise because it's a huge shift from the first episode.
The show begins with the mystery of Donald and Scrooge's relationship. It begins with the two completely estranged. To end it with the direct contrast, Donald being Scrooge's successor, would be a neat contrast to the start. It subverts expectations too. And also, it means in a way Donald finally wins. Donald, who everyone dismisses and makes fun of and is obviously underappreciated, Donald is now IMPORTANT, and not just that but he always WAS to Scrooge. Even though he's nothing like him on the surface, he was the one Scrooge chose. And it even could have been because Donald seems so different to Scrooge, too.
Anyway that's my hot take Duckblr. I have built this hill and I shall die here
