I asked about the mlm headcanons and first thank you for the what you write about post it explained everything was very helpful (and thank you for responding) could they be about the Boys realising they like/fancy a man and their response? How they go about loving a man in a time period they would have been persecuted for it? Thank you ❤

A/N: hi love! i think i seriously misunderstood what a headcanon was initially, but i’ve just seen someone else do it and wow those look like fun! anyway, here’s your ask, my love. (i’m hoping i kind of made it into a broken down journey for each of them, going through the basic stages of hiding themselves and realizing that they cant before being true to themselves).

Arthur:

Seriously doesn’t know what to do with himself and will most likely let himself get into a lot of trouble to draw his attention away from his inner monologue

More than likely to fight someone as a way to let out his anger

Flat-out decked someone when they accused him of being anything other than a heterosexual

Struggles to come to terms with himself

Attempts to hide his true self by hiring whores and prostitutes, mostly to prove to himself than he can but fails miserably

Realises that he really is not interested in women... but isn’t opposed to the idea of getting dicked down

Sides up to Arthur Sr. when he visits to try and get his father’s approval as a ‘man’ so that he feels okay

“Do y’ love me, Dad?”

“Course, son. Why wouldn’t I?” (despite ulterior motives, Arthur Sr. knows what to say without knowing a thing).

Often gets upset over the smallest things as he feels like they make him feel more ‘feminine’ compared to ‘masculine’

Strongly believes that he’s hiding well but forgets to keep up when he thinks he’s alone

Coasts through his emotions, rather badly

Goes to a secret hideout for ‘men only’

Tries to play himself off by insulting others to make himself feel better (doesn’t work)

Spends plenty of nights alone before giving in and throwing less-than-lavish parties to accommodate his needs

When he goes to London with his brothers, he finds someone in the club that catches his eye and meets him after

Eventually comes to terms with himself and decides then and there that he will shoot any police officer that comes near him

Tommy:

Manages to hide it relatively well

Can easily get away ‘cause he’s always off doing tasks

Knows what he is, yet decides to hide it still

Whenever he goes to London, makes arrangements with ‘male friends’.

Polly senses it and whenever she confronts him he avoids the question in a magical manner

“Tommy?”

“Hm?”

“Who was round, in your office, last night?”

“Pol’, you counted today’s takings yet? Michael wants to see you.”

Treats all his male love interests to dinner and often surprises them with small trinkets

Often invites men over during the day to come to visit him at the office and pulls down the blinds to keep it private

Makes sure to assert his dominate over police officers so that they never suspect him

In turn, also makes sure to keep his private meetings at a barge-pole length away from any kind of police-gatherings (pubs they drink at, etc)

In the Garrison, catches the eye of his love interest and actively flirts with the barmaid to hide his feelings in public but will drink them up the second they leave

Dislikes inviting females to family events such as weddings and always invites a ‘friend’ to canoodle with later on

Doesn’t let any interests near nieces and nephews for fear of falling for them much more than he already has and not wanting to see them interact with him

Puts Lizzie off continuously until she suspects a lover and goes to confront him until she walks in on a private meeting.

Is true to himself and brings his love interest to the betting den and just lets the topic linger once he’s introduced him and leaves it at that

John:

Struggles with his identity

Marries Martha to cover up for himself after accidentally getting her pregnant when trying to prove his heterosexuality to himself

Hides it for years as he has more kids with Martha

Meets up with his secret lovers during the night to keep his lives apart

Is constantly hyper-aware of everyone around him

Thinks everyone is judging him and knows his secret and is constantly lashing out

Martha dies and he is comforted by his love interest

Is desperate to give his kids a mother and offers to marry Lizzie to give them a mother but in turn, breaks his love interest’s heart

Is heartbroken himself, that he has to hide for even longer and that he has pushed away his love

Still loves his kids ‘cause they are his and no one can stop him from loving them

Brings round his love interest to meet the kids and is pleasantly surprised when they enjoy spending time with them both

Often goes to the park with the kids to keep them busy so he can rendez-vous with his lover

Makes rash decisions frequently so that he doesn’t have to stay with Polly before she can see him sweating when talking about his choice of friends

Brushes off Polly when she mentions how much his kids enjoyed their time at the park with him and his lover

“Y’know, John, the kids said that they love going to the park with you and your friend.”

“He’s just a friend Aunt Pol’ what’s the big deal?”

“Never said there was a problem.”

“Then why are we talking about it?”

Clearly doesn’t know how to deal with himself

In the end, his lover convinces him to get “married” (a dodgy woman oversees the joining of the two of them in her sitting room and that’s that)

Takes his lover to the Garrison, into the snug, during a family meeting and declares that he is in love with a man

Moreso, he is already married to said man
