do u have any tips for starting out your own blog? i’ve been writing for awhile now and want to start sharing my work, i just wanna know how to post and make everything look good 🙂↕️🙂↕️
sureeee nonnie !!! ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-
so some tips i can give you to start, have a pinned post to start. it doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a simple pinned with important things your readers can access—view, like rules, byf / dni, masterlist, if requests are open or closed, and if you’re a mdni blog. this stuff’ll be important after you start posting and receiving interactions on your work ☝️
tag your work properly!!! tumblr runs on a tag system, and it’s important to use the right tags so you reach the audience that you want. there’s different kind of tags, like smut / fluff / angst. for individual characters, you’d tag it like (character x reader ) + ( character x you ) etc. for a fluff piece i did, here’s an example on the tags i used—
there’ll be different tags for different fandoms. so if you’re writing for the one piece fandom, it’ll be a tag like #one piece x reader | ALSO !!!! this is kind of optional, but i usually tag my works with fem! or female reader, in case others don’t want to see my stuff on their filtered tags. always specify what you’re writing for, whenever i write angst or fluff it’s usually gender neutral reader but for smut i always write fem! reader. you’ll notice how in my works when i tag the warnings, i add fem! reader near the very beginning so people know what they’re getting into !!!
as for the aesthetics go, you wanna sorta ‘stand out’ i would say. hentai / doujinshi banners are pretty known around the smut community, and you can find a lot either on twitter on tumblr by searching under the tag #mangacap . one popular manga i could recommend is called ‘lady k & the sick man’ and i made a tutorial on how to color them here !!!!
don’t base your works off notes. always remember, it’s not a competition but it’s completely normal to feel happy whenever you receive traction !!!! 💗 if you’re just starting out as a new blossoming writer, it’ll take a bit for your work to reach an audience but you just have to be patient. writing is meant to be a hobby, and it’s important to have fun while doing it!
INTERACT WITH PEOPLE 🫵🫵. this goes for reblogging other people’s fics, commenting, sending sweet asks, etc. throughout your time, you’ll get some nice encounters from people. you’ll even get some anons !!!!! making mutuals is my favorite part of tumblr i think, and yes it can be scary. im still shy to make mutuals but i looooove interacting with different people !!!! you just gotta remember, everyone’s been in your shoes before so don’t be shy.
i think the last piece of advice i can say, is to just have fun :) of course, tumblr isn’t all positive. there’s lots of negative sides about this platform and one of it is the harsh reality that not everyone will like your work. that’s just something you have to accept, you cannot cater to everyone and that’s fine! but, just remember there’ll always be that one person that genuinely loves your work and gets excited whenever you post. once you start posting, you’ll see what i mean 💗. don’t be discouraged if you feel like you aren’t receiving interactions right away, that’s normal and growth takes time. just know that i believe in you, and i wish you luck on your writing journey nonnie!!! mwah <3

ALRIGHT, no more messing around I suppose.
Over the last twelve months my close friend @kimberlyeab and myself have been the targets of sustained harassment by a series of "anti-ship" accounts, that may or may not be the same person, that I am not going to name up here because I do not want to give them any more traffic than necessary. This is over some of the content we make, 18+ fiction revolving around Undertale and Deltarune, and sometimes involving dark kinks. I'm going to ask you to put aside whether you think this is immoral for the moment.
Under the break below is what I wrote a few hours ago. Things have since escalated. Both myself and Kim have been targeted by email bombs on our business emails, services/bots that spam your email address with garbage signups, rendering your email address completely unusable. At worst, this can overwhelm your email service so much that your account is unable to process new emails and is eventually disabled by the provider. I'm still getting bursts of activity after over 200 emails, so I'm not sure if it's dying down, or if it's so backlogged that this is what's happening.
This is literally a crime, by the way. It's classified as cyber abuse.
On top of this, whoever has done this has access to personal information. A full legal name, first and last, was used in several of the signups, so they are either implicitly threatening to doxx us, or simply flexing that they could. Likewise a crime.
Additionally, this seems well coordinated, but there are no suspicious recent results for us in The Usual Places. This makes me believe this person is probably using some foul back-alley site like KF to organize this. I don't think the legal name in question could have been acquired by one person, it's extremely difficult to trace back.
tl;dr: whoever is doing this knows their way around the internet and is actively dangerous, they are severely impeding our lives and have the potential to become incredibly, incredibly dangerous.
Why am I posting this? Not really to get those accounts in trouble (although you should absolutely stay the hell away from them, and severely scrutinize anything they leave a mark on). I don't think they'll be punished, nor would it help since they constantly block evade, and at this point I don't think this recent online abuse crap is actually them, just someone attaching themself to their crusade. Though I'm not sure.
What I want to illustrate is how these kind of callout posts feed into targeted harassment of minorities. This is just another reason why things that make you uncomfortable should be dealt with by curating your experience using tags and blacklists and blocks, rather than trying to assign moral value to what people make. If my content makes you that uncomfortable I *actively encourage* you to block me.
It doesn't matter whether you personally dislike minorities or not, or whether you're subconsciously targeting them, or whatever. Someone else who does will latch on. That person who writes nothing but callout posts, yet they're always for small trans creators who make some 'icky stuff' and never for big-name bigots who parade their bigotry out in the open; is it because they're a sock puppet of an overt reactionary, or just because they want to feel some control over their life so they subconsciously focus on vulnerable people?
Simple: you can't know.
These people are the dangerous ones. Not people who just make content, properly tag it, and mind their own business. But these people, obsessed with ruining other people, with finding 'evil' in the world so that they can purge it? You can find their name below if you really want, and literally their entire blog is just constant callouts, broadcasting people doing callouts, trying to network with other people who do callouts. This is why these people were originally called 'antifans', their entire fandom presence is centered around tearing other people to shreds.
Do your due diligence and fact-check, before you broadcast that someone in your fandom did something awful. Make sure they actually hurt someone. I know mega-bastards will use 'you can't prove it' as an excuse, but actually analyze it a bit. It's almost always painfully obvious, I know, I spent years doing antifascism. And more than anything else, neither entertain, nor broadcast, nor embolden the kind of people who dedicate their entire existences on the internet to lateral abuse. Not just these particular ones, but ANYONE who dedicates their life to this online torch-waving garbage over fictional content. Whether they're a reactionary or just projecting trauma, whether they actually hate x y or z minority or they just happen to always go for the most vulnerable people, whether the person they're targeting makes content that makes you feel very icky and gross or not, these self-ordained Crusaders are consistently, unquestionably, dangerous.
That's one page out of 4. Also some of them have between 10 and 80 updates in the one email from the same address. There's about 300 emails all up. And there's zero reason they can't do this again.
===
Anyway. The accounts in question are @snowcollecter/@brieffamilycat/@krispy-chicken-shipping/@bonniehbunny. First two are definitely them, I highly suspect the latter two are their main, or at the very least someone who constantly signal boosts them. We have endured over 12 months of:
calling for brigades against us, and at least 4 other people
block dodging to constantly screenshot and reference our posts
literal libel by accusing us of grooming a child despite screenshots, as well as both statements and direct requests to stop by both the supposed groomed child and their actual friends who witnessed all interactions we had
spamming anon asks to literally every single person that they can find who we ever interact with
using tiktok cen)sor)ship nonsense to get past peoples' blacklists and force this stuff in front of them
using no less than 3 confirmed alts with about 5 more extremely suspicious accounts in attempts to artificially broadcast themself and again evade blocks (when the original account itself is transparently an alt too)
joining multiple random discords to try to shove this stuff in peoples' faces
now spamming Kim's business email at signup services
probably being behind the attempts to doxx and raid us last year on a certain hate-monger website, since the signup spam demonstrates they're cool with bog standard channer troll tactics
They also pretty tellingly refused to even talk to this minor we supposedly groomed, who attempted to tell them personally that we hadn't done the shit they claim we did. You'd think someone who is this caught up about the safety of minors in fandom spaces would jump at the chance to help this kid, to tell them not to talk to us and get them away from us, to convince them to stay away? No, they said 'I don't talk to minors' (this is demonstrably untrue: their discord accounts are in many all-ages spaces) and immediately blocked them.
Of course. Because this was never about the safety of minors. Flip a coin; if it's heads, they're a far-right sock puppet who just knows they can use the 'think of the children' angle to drive a wedge into queer communities. If it's tails, they're just a routine runt who's projecting their lack of ability to do anything about the ACTUAL assholes of this world onto other queer people, wailing and flailing and doing anything they can to have some influence despite getting 3 notes on almost everything they ever post. Hence the anon asks, and Discord spam, and blacklist/block evading. If they can't have a platform - because anyone who looks at their garbage for more than a month at most sees how absolutely deranged they are - they'll just force people to see it.
Do they ever attack actual transphobes, which this fandom is not at all short on? Well, sort of! They did one or two callout posts about a TERF who used to run in these spaces... But didn't say anything about the TERF shit. Just the porn. The porn constantly put behind age confirmations and thorough tags/content warnings. This person spouted generic 'all-powerful trans lobby' 'social contagion' 'please look at this study about desistance I found on a hard-right website' bullshit, but no, it was them drawing aged-up highschoolers (REMINDER: NOT EVEN CANONICALLY UNDERAGE, JUST VAGUE HIGHSCHOOLERS, *AND* THEY WERE EXPLICITLY OLDER IN THEIR CONTENT!) that was apparently the greater evil.
I'm not even really sharing this to call them specifically out or draw attention to them. Regardless of whether they're a chud in a mask or just someone who severely, *severely* needs psychological help about their obsession, they're not going to stop. They've made that plainly obvious. At this point I've basically just accepted I'm going to have this deranged stalker until I leave the fandom, which I don't plan to do anytime soon so buckle up I guess.
No, I just want people to see what these people are like. How they ignore the people they claim are victims. How they employ the same tactics as doxxing websites and old channer trolls, or even outright enlist them. How they only EVER put sustained effort into taking down queer people with small platforms because going after the in-plain-sight actual bigots and scumbags would just be too much effort, a reflection of how this is about feeling righteous and powerful, not actually making the world better. They create nothing, they contribute nothing, they bring nothing but arguing and drama and isolation to the spaces they inhabit.
These kind of people are blights on the fandoms they cling to. And any time you act like their *miserable* Hays Code, Jack Thompson With A Rainbow Flag, no kink at pride, BDSM is abuse, drag queens are indecent, cover those ankles *garbage* warrants any notice at all, you deal another blow to the fandom you are in, because nobody wants to be around these little goddamn nightmares. edit: I know how red-flag any grooming allegations are, if you want the full story to that I already addressed it here. tl;dr, no, we did not let a child look at our porn let alone show it to them, we in fact stopped them from doing so. We are not in some secret private 18+ server with them, we actively ensured they STOPPED making themself unsafe, and have strained extremely, extremely hard to keep our very limited interactions with them transparent, scrutinizable, and appropriate. The only reason we even stuck around was because it became rapidly apparent they were in an abusive living situation which we occasionally gave them advice to manage, eg helping them look up boarding options, unlike the torch-waving dipshits who did NOTHING to reach out to them or help them in any way. They're doing much better, both in their home life and in terms of not following or privately palling around with 18+ creators anymore, thanks to us, and at the expense of both our mental health and reputations. You're fucken' welcome.

hello!! i am troxler (trox if you're nasty) and you might know me from my xwitter @ broadcastrelay or my old experimental art blog @hand-in-hand-again .
this blog is sfw. i have a more reblog-heavy nsfw sideblog, @heartshapedsignal , where i can place aesthetics, rb art that i like, Cronenbergpost & generally toss up more intense horror things & keep this one somewhat more tidy + personal-art-oriented. follow my alt if you please; although it's unlikely i'll ever post anything too explicit, there is nsfw/🔞 potential, so again, heartshapedsignal is 🔞 just to be safe!!
i have a throne account here if you'd like to support my work by helping with supplies & thereby earn my eternal gratitude:
commissions are currently closed & i will update here & on xwitter if that changes!!
i do have discord if you'd like to chat, you can DM me for my username. i'm vision impaired & it's a little easier for me than tumblr DMs (scalable font. properly mapped keyboard that allows me to hit the right keys occasionally. you know 👁️)
i am sometimes slow to respond to messages, but i don't expect you to be available all the time either--i answer things when i have a moment, & i assume others do too ✌️ i have the temperament of a displaced 11th century anchorite, am simply not adapted to the tone & pace of centralized social media.
i also unfortunately cannot voice call or stream/screen share because i am a millennial (just kidding, it's because my phone is almost 9 years old & it overheats when i check my e-mail)
learn a bit more about me under the cut ✂️
i was dropped into this simulation in the early 80s, i'm a disabled artist (vision impaired - [ask me about my atrophied optic nerves] - & have some other physical Issues so i use a cane) & my wife and i host two black cats, roughly 35% of a mannequin, and a whole lot of dolls.
all my art is trad/physical media (haven't figured out a way to make digital art accessible yet. maybe someday!!) i like to sculpt in epoxy, plastilene, polymer & stone clay, i like to mold & cast in resin, make & customize various types of dolls, & build puppets; i do custom framed work, mixed media & textile stuff like sewing & embroidery; i paint in oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache & water soluble graphite & i love ink, markers, crayons & whatever cheap & weird stuff i can get my hands on.
i have a particular affection for props, prop replicas & hypothetical in-universe items, & i like things that are handsome, durable & believable. i'm versatile & innovative, & i'm at my happiest when i'm exploring technical processes. i have quite a bit of knowledge about techniques & materials. i love a challenge!! currently all my sewing is done by hand, i have trouble controlling pedal-operated machines.
my favorite thing is horror coated in a fine layer of nostalgia & sprinkled with history. that seems highly specific, but you'd be surprised how many things fit the criteria. i tend to fixate on characters & concepts & do a lot of art about it - a habit i developed while i was re-teaching myself to draw after the changes to my eyesight. my output is largely therapeutic. sometimes people like it. maybe you will too!!
a good amount of my work is fanart & will be tagged as such/otherwise linked to the appropriate project, original work will be specified & have its own tag.
at the moment i make a lot of work related to the independent psychological horror unfiction project Welcome Home, created by ' partycoffin ' here on tumblr.
that's all for now!! 👁️🗨️📺

I also have plenty of writing prompts, as my brain runs a mile a minute, and I adore it when people feel inspired by my writing so feel free to explore.
I hope you enjoy! Get comfy and stay awhile :)
Things I would like to note: Homophobia, Transphobia, Sexism, Racism, etc. are absolutely not tolerated here. As stated earlier the idea is to create a safe space for everyone. If I or anyone that interacts with my blog upsets you, please don't feel shy to message me. My asks (with anon) and messages are open, even if it's just to chat (also keep in mind once again I am an adult). Don't bully the children either, they are just trying their best. Please and thank you. 💖

Serious question about Clown’s updated NSFW policy- Would you be ok with people doing NSFW work of your AU? Or not? Because just cuz Clown’s ok with it doesn’t mean that you have to comfortable with it. I personally would like to draw some NSFW, but wouldn’t if you weren’t comfortable with it.
Also is Barnaby single? please? Just one chance?
Frankly speaking, NSFW art is a grey area for me. Im not weirded out by it in general but I also don't want it to affect how peeps would perceive my AUs. I still want to keep this blog as PG as I possibly can so everyone can enjoy my stuff on here. Yet I also don't control whatever peeps do with them.
All I ask is that you handle this kind of content carefully and make sure it isn't accessible to minors by all means. Make sure it's tagged and censored properly. The usual stuff
That's pretty much it really. Hopefully, my message rings clear and you understand where I'm coming from with this

(再)自己紹介 | Langblr Reintroduction!
皆さん こんにちは!I recently hit a follower milestone and figured that it was time to reintroduce myself, as it's been quite a while, and I don't really have much information about me easily accessible on my blog. Additionally, I'd like to actually write stuff down about how this blog is organized. じゃあ、始めましょう!
Hi, my name is Nobody (they/them), my native language is English, and I like studying languages! Languages have interested me ever since I was a child, but I feel like I never knew how to properly learn a language until I started studying Japanese in 2020. Now, I also study Mandarin Chinese and German! Japanese is my main target language, and I would some day like to make Japanese my primary language. Yes, that means I'm interested in moving to Japan long-term.
Immersion is my favorite way to study, but as of right now, most of my immersion has been done in Japanese. Please tell me what you're reading or watching, or ask me what I'm reading or watching! I especially love talking about books and manga and would be more than willing to share recommendations!
Outside of language learning, my hobbies include horseback riding, gardening, and reading (in English). I also have a degree in music performance, but I don't really consider that to be a hobby since it's something I'm actively pursuing as a career.
As for my blog, I keep it mostly Japanese focused, mainly because I made this blog when I was only studying Japanese, but my other languages do show up once in a while, and much of the content I post/reblog isn't tied to a single language. Here are the tags I frequently use to organize my blog and what they all mean:
#benkyou posting - these are my own posts! These are usually tagged with at least one of the other tags, as this tag just denotes that I was the one who made it, not necessarily the content that it contains.
#languages - these are posts that are typically tied to a specific language or the specific study of languages. Resources for learning languages will also show up here.
#tips - these posts are general studying tips and may not be specifically about language learning, but are applicable to the study of languages.
#study - these posts are aesthetic posts of peoples' notes and study spaces.
#inspo - these posts are inspirational posts, for when you might have a bit of trouble getting into the study mood.
#art - this is just for Japanese art! Usually, it'll be traditional arts and I must admit that I'm a sucker for woodblock prints. If I reblog any sort of Japanese fashion (think more kimonos), it'll also show up here.
#culture - these are posts about the cultural aspects of Japan, such as explanations of festivals and the such.
#aesthetic - these are just beautiful photos of Japan, mostly temples. Again, these are just photos I like, and I really like shrines and castles (once someone called me a "temple weeb" and I'm still laughing about it).
#memes - this tag is for anything fun! Memes aren't the only thing that go in here- things such as polls and silly text posts will also show up here.
Things that I don't post or reblog include vocabulary lists and grammar explanations. I have nothing against them, I just don't particularly use them on tumblr and therefore find no reason to put them on my own blog. I've made a few vocabulary lists in the past, but have found that it's just not for me! Remember that language learning is a deeply personal journey and what works for you might not work for me and vice verse. Just because these things aren't particularly what I look for out of langblr content doesn't mean that they're not important to other people, but I would like to be clear about what shows up (and doesn't!) on my blog.
So welcome to my blog! I hope you choose to stick around a while! And for those who don't know Japanese, my blog name means "studying and lunch boxes."

Now that Sharena Week is closer (a little over a month away!) I thought it'd be a good idea to do one of these!
(if you have any questions not answered here, feel free to ask, whether in a reply, an ask, or even a DM! If your question is more specific/complex DM might be the best option for it to be discussed)
FAQ
Q: Are Original Characters allowed?
A: Yes! Summoner OCs, Self Inserts, Fan Children, or other original characters are allowed to be included in your prompts — so long as the main focus is on Sharena as much as possible.
Q: Are specific headcanons/AUs/Canon divergences/etc allowed outside of Day 5: Change of Fate?
A: If you want to adhere to a specific AU or set of canon divergent headcanons throughout the whole week/vary through them each day, you're welcome to! As long as it still features the main Day's general prompt & it's Sharena-focused, there should be no issues.
Q: If I'm late/can't post a prompt the day of, can I still upload it later in the week?
A: Yes! As long as you tag your posts accordingly, there's no problem with uploading late, even out of the event's timeframe (though it'd be preferred for most of it to be posted during the specified week, we understand sometimes life happens, or you simply can't finish in time for whatever reason; we'll be sharing everything that's properly tagged to this account!)
Q: Will there be an AO3 Collection for any fics made for the week?
A: If people would like that, then yes! We'd create a collection a week or two before the event and share it here so you can submit your fics!
Q: What platforms/social media are allowed for posting of our works?
A: Pretty much anywhere! For the moment, Sharena Week only has social media presence here on Tumblr, Twitter/X (@ SharenaWeek), and Instagram (@ sharenaweek, though we'll admit I we're not sure how/if it's even possible for us to share your content there, as we aren't used to it — we'll still poke around and like posts at the very least!). As mentioned above, an AO3 collection will most probably be made a couple weeks before the Week, but we probably won't be on other fanfic websites (i.e. fanfiction, wattpad). If you make a post linking to your fic on the websites we do have presence on, however, we'll share it! If needed, we can even compile links to posts on other platforms for ease of access.
Q: Are creations outside of drawing, painting, and writing accepted?
Yes!!! Anything goes, as long as you made it — skill level doesn't matter, either. Sprite edits, music playlists, cosplay, collages, AMVs, vine/tiktok compilations... anything you can think of! That being said, AI work (artwork made with AI websites, fic written by programs like ChatGPT, etc) WON'T be accepted.
Q: What do I do if my post doesn't get reblogged/retweeted/shared by you guys?
A: We'll do our best to check the tags as often as possible during the event, but we might miss stuff, be it because it was posted as we took a break, or because Tumblr is held together with duct tape and hope. If we go a day or two or even more without interacting with your work, feel free to DM us a link to the post or @ us so we can share it!

—EVENT—
!¡Masterlist!¡
RULES + info about me
NEW IMPORTANT RULE: PLEASE TELL ME IF UR A MINOR OR NOT IN YOUR REQUESTS, I DONT WANNA TRUAMATIZE ANOTHER ONE 😭 (bc either I forget to put all warnings/correct tags or put some smut or slightly sus pictures.) ゚(゚´Д`゚)゚。
Edit: advanced apologies. I absolutely do not know how to lock my NSFW fics. And I might not have put specific warnings like, I put some bad words in it. I'm really sorry, I'll still try my best, tho.
Edit: Hello! Sorry if you found one of my posts, and it didn't have credit to the pictures. Sorry, sometimes I forgot while writing to put credit, and since every time I post, I delete the pictures. Storage problems 🥲
I'm so very, VERY shitty with my Grammer 💔
Please be very specific with your ask bc I'm a dumb little shi- I mean a bit...behind in my brain. Like what theme: angst, fluff, etc.
I prefer if you ask for part 2 in the requests and saying which writings, but doing in the comments is just fine.
I DO NOT PROOF-READ OR STUFF LIKE THAT. AM VERY SORRY 🥲
Draft limits: 10.
I usually make the reader doesn't have a gender/specific gender or just do both genders. I also like dom reader so ahem...so like yeah, if you wanna do like (???) x reader and you don't want a dom one then tell me :D
(Again, I do mostly dom reader but can do sub reader <3)
I do some stuff like yandere, obsession behavior, etc. But reminder: I do not support this in real life. Just in fiction. I hope you understand, I'm not like bad or anything 😅
I've seen some people who like a character but they are like younger than 18 and either they don't know it or they look older for their age. So I'll allow it as long as the character isn't too young, like under the 15's, and I'll gladly age them up for any reason, although in some cases , I might decline so I apologize for that.
What Fandom I do
I can do anyone or something. Oh, even manga/manwha/manhua
But the fandom I'm mostly familiar with is:
1. Genshin
2. Obey me
3. Honkai star rail
4. Hazbin hotel
5. Jujutsu kaisen
6. MHA (I'm not actively in it, but I still kinda know most stuff in it, and I'd still do any requests from it).
But again, I can do anything. Well, anything I'm able to do properly.
(Unless you ask me about a character that exists, but I don't know them. Might take a while BUT!! I'll still do it because you guys are my lovely requesters ♡)
What I do not allow
I honestly don't know yet. No one has requested anything I don't allow. (Except for my friends, but I forgot what they said so...)
Warning:
This is an like idk, a blog that has 18+ things. If you don't feel comfortable, I'm sorry. I have some fluff in here, but uh... yeah- anyway, my super close (and some what hºrny) friends have access to my account, so if there's a post about anything weird or something, I swear it's not me. (I hate to admit it, but they're scary, and if you're reading this, my friend, please stay from me. I have holy water, you demonic, spawn of Satan, and uhhhh scary chihuahua lookin thing. <3)
.
.
.
.
.

"Search Tags" on AO3
I've noticed that a lot of people don't seem to be aware that this is an option, so I thought I'd write an informative post about the AO3 feature that allows you to look up tags!
What is this and where can I find it?
It's a page on Archive of our Own that can be accessed by selecting "Search" in the upper bar and then clicking on "Tags." Or by clicking this link, if you'd just like to go there right away!
As the name indicates, it's a form you can use to look up a list of AO3 tags corresponding to a keyword (or multiple.)
How can it be useful to me?
I think it can be useful in a number of ways! I'll try to cover most of the ones that come to my mind in this post, but there might be more I haven't thought of.
As a writer
For me, the Search Tags page is most useful as a fic writer (or general creator on AO3, for those of us who also post non-fic works!) I use it mostly to look up freeform tags and check pre-existing tags and canonicals. Technically, you can check canonicals by making a new work and entering a keyword in one of the sections, but for me, this is less of a hassle. Not to mention, this way, you can even see non-canonical tags that people have already used, some of which might be very popular despite not being canonicals!
(Why would a very popular tag not be a canonical, you ask? Well, I'm not an AO3 volunteer, so I can't speak on their behalf. But as someone who writes kinky porn, there are a couple of sex-related tags that lack canonicals but still span a large number of works. The most obvious example, to me, is "Free Use", which is used by over 1200 works, and is not a canonical tag. For those unaware, the difference between a canonical and non-canonical tag is that it cannot be filtered; as such, it does not have a separate Works/Bookmarks page.)
If you're part of a challenge, exchange, or fest that only accepts ships with a certain number of works (i.e. rarepairs) it can also be used to check whether a specific shiptag even exists in the first place or to easily find the Works page of a specific shiptag so you can double-check the number of works there. I will discuss this more in the next section.
As a reader
What inspired me to make this post was actually seeing someone asking on Twitter if it was possible to filter every ship involving one specific character. As far as I'm aware, this is not possible; however, you can use the Search Tags form to find all the existing shiptags (canonical or not) featuring said character, and then check every Works page individually. Not super convenient, but still better than trying to wrestle with the filters, I think!
Okay, this is all very interesting, but how does it work?
Using the Search Tags form
When you access the Search Tags page, you will be greeted by this form:
If you click on the little ? bubble next to "Tag name," it will show you the usual list of common modifiers you can use to look up keywords, just like in the "Search within results" option from AO3 filters:
Here, what you can do depends on what your goal is. I'll cover in the order of the suggestions I gave in the previous section of this post.
Looking up freeforms
So, let's say you're in the process of, or just got done, writing your newest fic. You want to tag it properly, but there's some stuff you're not sure can be covered with the canonical tags AO3 suggests to you when posting a New Work, and when you try searching keywords in the regular search, you get mixed results. This is where the Search Tags form can be very, very useful!
I'll use an example I've used in the past. You want to use a tag that gives your reader an idea of how the fic ends. To do that, you can type up "Ending" in the "Tag name" box. For this example, we'll decide we want only canonical tags, so we'll check "Freeform" and then "Canonical."
This gives use nine whole pages of canonical tags. Canonical tags are shown in bold to separate them from non-canonical tags, but as we're doing a Canonical search right now, you won't be able to tell the difference. Here's what (the top of) page one looks like:
Immediately, you might have noticed something is amiss. Because we haven't specified a fandom, the search is giving us tags that are fandom-specific, like "Abandon Ending (OMORI)," on top of giving us tags that are non-specific, like "Abrupt Ending." This can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing, like in this case where we just want a generic ending tag. Thankfully, there is an easy solution!
Indeed, tags on AO3 are sorted by fandoms... including non-fandom tags! So all we have to do is enter the Fandom as "No Fandom," and then...
Ta-dah!
Note that there are still fandom-specific tags that might fall through the cracks, as tag wranglers are obviously not infallible, being human beings doing volunteer work. For example, although I cut the screenshot short, the next tag on the list is "Memory's Crannies Ending (Ib)" which seems to have the "No Fandom" category incorrectly applied to it alongside its actual fandom, "Ib (Video Game)." There'll also be non-fandom results that are actually pointing toward specific fests, bangs, or similar events, like "No Happy Ending Fest."
However, as I've mentioned earlier in the post, you can technically achieve the same result by typing a word in the Freeform box when posting a new work and seeing what AO3 suggests. So let's talk about what this is most useful for, in my opinion: finding established non-canonical tags.
This time, let's say you're writing something spicy involving a trans male character being the Dominant partner in a D/s relationship. There is a "Trans Male Character" canonical freeform, but if you look up "trans male character" in the tag search, you may also find:
You might be wondering, what's the point of doing this? Well, in some cases, some freeform tags have a lot of uses despite not being canonicals. Even without getting into the extreme I've already cited, for example, the tag "Honor Bondage" has over 100 fics to its name. Since it's not canonical, and as such can't be filtered, it also can't be synned to, which means that the best way for people interested in honor bondage to find works easily is to have as many people using the most commonly used tag as possible. By guaranteeing that you're using a pre-existing tag, even if it's non-canonical, you're helping more people find your work.
(For those unaware of the term, "synning" refers to a non-canonical tag being made synonymous to a canonical tag. When looking at a Tag page (not its Works or Bookmarks page) you can see a list of all the non-canonical tags synned to it, like this:
I'll cover this again a little later.)
Generally, I also think it can be useful when you're not sure how to tag something and are looking for inspiration. Also, getting to see all the silly tags people have used is pretty funny.
Looking up ships
In this section, I'll cover both the "writer" and "reader" situations.
Let's say you're participating in an event that's all about rarepairs. The requirements are that your chosen ships can't have more than, say, 100 works. You've decided you want to write a ship involving your favorite blorbo, but you don't know if the ship you have in mind even exists on AO3.
For the sake of this example, we'll say your blorbo is Cloud Strife, and you want to write... (throws dice) Cloud/Reeve. Let's go back to the Tag Search, and this time we'll use the "Relationship" box.
We're going to look up canonicals first (for reasons I'll explain later) so for this step, you have to make sure you have the right phrasing to look up your character. In the example I'm using, I don't think it'll matter much (it's not like there are that many characters named "Cloud") but if you were looking for, say, Peter Parker rarepairs, you'll have to make sure to use "Peter Parker" and not just "Peter."
This is what our search looks like for now.
I have to go through a few pages, but on page 3, I find the Cloud Strife/Reeve Tuesti tag. It says it has four fics, but in my experience, the count can be a little messy, so we'll double check on the Works page just in case.
There we go! A tried and true rarepair. 🫡
If you can't find the ship anywhere in the list (even when double-checking by entering more keywords) it's probably because it doesn't exist at all. I'll use a less popular character as an example, Professor Birch from Pokémon:
Because there are so few results, you can tell right away that Professor Birch/Professor Sycamore doesn't exist. 😔 (Actually, when looking up "Any status," it does exist as a non-canonical that doesn't have any fic tied to it. BECAUSE OF ME. But I'll talk about this at the end of this section.)
Now, let's say you're a reader and what you're interested in is finding out how many ships Cloud Strife is involved in on AO3. You just want to read about your blorbo getting into all kinds of relationships. Good for you.
You like to live dangerously, so you're going to go as far as looking up "Any status." I'll explain what this implies in a bit.
I also want to make a note of something. I was previously under the mistaken impression that specifying a fandom for your Relationship searches would affect whether or not crossover ships show up. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case, as a Relationship tag seems to always have every fandom each character is involved in as a parent tag. (So, for example, Ardyn Izunia/Cloud Strife has all of these as parent tags: Ardyn Izunia, Cloud Strife, Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy XV.) I don't know if there's a solution to this. If you know of it, I'd appreciate you letting me know!
Immediately, the ~400 results for Cloud Strife Relationship tags jump up to over 1500. Amazing.
Now, the issue (imo) when looking up Relationship tags using "Any status" is that it'll also give you non-canonical tags that are synned to canonical tags, which means you'll just end up with a bunch of repeats. It'll be a lot of things like, One-Sided Zack Fair/Cloud Strife, or Past Aerith Gainsborough/Cloud Strife, or tags written in the wrong order like Cloud Strife/Zack Fair, or tags formatted wrong like Zack Fair x Cloud Strife.
Therefore, especially when looking up very popular character, I wouldn't suggest looking up non-canonical Relationship tags. For unpopular characters, though, the list should be short enough to be combed through without too much of a hassle. Unfortunately, this means you might miss newly created Relationship tags that haven't been made canonical yet.
I'd suggest trying more keywords in this case. For example, in the Cloud Strife/Reeve Tuesti example, I could have just looked up the full tag straight away:
Additional Information about Tags
To conclude this post, I'll talk about something some people might not know regarding AO3 tags.
Tags are actually added to the database as soon as they're either added to a drafted work, added to a bookmark, or approved for an exchange. So, for example, if you created a work, tagged it Peter Parker/Cloud Strife, saved it as a draft, and never ended up actually posting the fic, the tag will still have been created.
Similarly, in the Cloud/Reeve screenshot above, I would wager that the shiptags with "(CoFF7)" and "(FF7 Remake)" at the end were actually created for exchange purposes, so people could ask for specific versions of the ship.
This is also what happened with the Odamaki-hakase | Professor Birch/Platane-hakase | Professor Augustine Sycamore shiptag, which was created when I submitted the ship for an exchange a few months ago. As a result, it's empty because no work was posted for it (YET.)
This applies to all tags, including freeforms. This is why, when looking up tags using this method, you'll sometimes run into tags that have no work tied to them.
...Okay, I think I've covered all that I wanted to cover! If you have questions, please feel free to ask them in the comments of this post. I hope this can be of help to anyone. When I discovered this option a few years back, I was floored. I genuinely think it's really useful, as someone who has a hard time with the regular AO3 search.
If you got to the end of this (very long) post, thank you for reading!

guilt hearbreak and wound [:
tiberius asks!
GUILT: What is your OC guilty about? How do they handle their guilt? Do they try to avoid guilt, or do they accept it?
tiberius surprisingly enough doesn't feel guilty very quickly! he knows when something is not his fault or his problem and if someone wants to play the victim that's great for them, but he knows what he's done and he can very easily own up to his mistakes but if there's no mistakes he's made then he's got nothing to feel bad about. he's very immune to people trying to guilt him into doing stuff for them; he doesn't mind helping out at all but if you're gonna try to make him feel bad first then he doesn't really see why he should when you could've also just asked him
he does feel very guilty about nikolai (one of my other ocs) losing his hand in the fight against the courser. tiberius initially wanted to go after the courser himself to gain access to the institute, but both max and nikolai insisted on tagging along to help him and nikolai lost his hand in the fight :( tiberius feels responsible for it despite never having asked if his friends could help; he still believes it was HIS problem and HIS responsibility to deal with, and to have one of his closest friends get injured like that in a situation he shouldn't even have been in in the first place feels very bad
generally speaking, tiberius can handle his guilt very well because he knows if he dwells on it for too long and lets it consume him it will just make him worse at the end of the day. he tries his best to make up for it and to keep on going, but there's definitely nights where it all creeps up on him and leaves him restless for hours, thinking about what he should've done differently
HEARTBREAK: Have they ever had a relationship that ended badly? Experienced some other kind of heartbreak? What happened?
answered here!
WOUND: How does your OC handle being wounded? Are their wounds mostly physical? Mental? Emotional? What's the worst wound your OC has ever experienced?
kind of already answered this in another ask but tiberius generally deals well with getting wounded since 1) he has high pain tolerance and 2) he generally doesn't feel too worried about what happens to him until the situation has escalated to the point the damage may be irreversible. so any regular wound is easily dealt with, and he's not too scared of blood and gore so he can easily take care of his own wounds as well :]
he has a variety of scars on his body, the most notable ones being on his face; a small cut in his left eyebrow from a fall down the stairs pre-war, a larger vertical cut through his right eyebrow and down over his cheekbone from an encounter with a molerat, and a cluster of radiation scarring on his left cheekbone and cheek. especially the latter looks kind of concerning with an almost greenish hue to it; but it is in fact fine, it simply looks like that because of the special boy radiation cocktail he received which makes his wounds heal unnaturally fast. other scars on his body include, but are not limited to: large cuts on his lower right leg from a deathclaw, burn scars on his back and left hip from an encounter with the forged, and gunshot wounds in his lower abdomen, right shoulder, and left forearm
tiberius deals very poorly with his mental and emotional wounds, not wanting to show vulnerability and thus shoving all of his fears and worries and traumas and his grief and pain and sorrow very far away so he can ignore all of it and just focus on surviving. naturally this all causes him to break down later on in the story and after that he gets a little better at opening up to people, but the road to dealing with his baggage properly is very very long
#asks#mojaves#ask:tiberius#oc asks#he's a guy who has horrible coping mechanisms but he's 23 years old and he lives in a post-apocalyptic wasteland#and his parents are dead and his sister is dead and his nephew is a senior citizen with a god complex and a variety of other issues#so i think that kinda makes sense for him. like he's not really had any time to find an alternative

hi making a(n) (im)proper pinned post
you can call me Mora, I use they/them, and I'm 20
If you're going to follow me, be at least 16, preferably 18. I may occasionally reblog suggestive/potentially sexual shitposts (nothing you wouldn't see in a CCE M-16 movie). Please follow/view at your own discretion.
No terfs, no swerfs, no exclusionists, no proship, no zoos, no "MAPs", bigots, Nazis, whatever, you get the jist. The only thing I ask from everyone else is that you have decent reading comprehension. Also ACAB.
I am trans, and I have an agenda.
Ask for clarification before making any assumptions about me btw because I can struggle to properly word what I'm trying to say. Assume good faith first and foremost basically, please. I like to have genuine productive discussions. I don't actually like arguing on the internet.
tag legend:
#mora's picks = posts I like a lot, "hall of fame" type deal
#one of the best = posts I like a lot but again
#mora's museum = art I like a lot.
#mora's wild shit rodeo = the crazy ass shit people say and do.
Feel free to ask me to tag stuff, fandoms, topics, accessibility, etc, especially content/trigger warnings.

Just remembered the Nth Rooms and it just makes me think about how me, who spent ages 10 to now with mostly unrestricted internet access and it led to a lot of my hobbies and positive traits, am so for parents monitoring their children’s internet activities until ages 13 to 15.
I was fortunate enough to encounter situations with adults as a young minor and knew how to properly handle the situation and not endanger myself (for the most part). Basics like not sharing your full name, pictures, address, etc. But it is so easy to manipulate someone of that age to do otherwise.
I’ve talked about this on my side blog, @ed-recoverry , but at age 13, I posted a “body check” (restrictive ED people know). To put it blunt, I was fully naked with just underwear and my nipples scribbled out. Once again, I had the brains to not put my face in, but there were identifying factors. About ten minutes later, an anonymous account tagged me. They had reposted that photo. I was fortunate to contact enough people where Instagram actually had to respond (reporting photos rarely did anything in 2016) and the post was taken down. But I often think about what if the account didn’t tag me, blocked me right after posting? There was a very real chance my nude 13 year old body with identifying features could have remained on Instagram till this day.
Thankfully this is the only dangerous situation I encountered on the internet, and obviously now at age 21 I see how moronically stupid it was to post myself, especially nude, but you just don’t think that.
I had multiple adults through one way or another try to talk to me with the intention, upon reflecting, of sending nudes or engaging in sexual stuff. Once again, I’m thankful to have had the awareness that I always blocked as soon as the person asked for pictures or my phone number, but that just is something to small for a child to remember to do.
On tiktok, I see so many, so many, (especially girls) post casually about being groomed and sending explicit photos of themselves at ages 10-14. Especially if you are vulnerable, if you are starting to deal with mental health issues like I was, you just don’t have the ability to think about the implications and possible outcomes.
This all happened 2013-2017 when iPhones were just a big question mark and no on really understood what was possible with it. It was a new concept of direct messaging a random kid halfway across the world on Twitter and asking for nudes. It’s a situation, at the time, no one really thought to warn kids about.
Obviously, I’m not in elementary and middle school now, but I hope so much that it’s been implemented into education internet safety, with explicit emphasis on not sharing personal information, sending photos, and not engaging in conversations with adults, no matter who they say they are.
I don’t plan on being a parent, but I just hope millennials and gen z who are having kids or had kids who are approaching ages 10-14 have multiple conversations about not only what not to do online, but also why they shouldn’t do it and if they ever encounter something, they should tell an adult. If you tell a kid just not to share their address, they don’t have the ability to infer that that is because someone could come to your house and harm you. That is something that needs to be spelled out.
And I just think, especially early on, that is something you can easily enforce with monitoring. Although, I also am a firm believer that monitoring should just be used to see if 1) they are talking to anyone 2) they are doing something illegal (usually not on purpose, stumbling upon something). I am a strong believer that teenagers deserve privacy on their phones. And if you taught internet safety, made it a habit to not engage with strangers, explaining what can happen, it just makes a child less likely to even engage with an adult. And if they do, they know what details not to share and when the discussion is dangerous.
I do think being unrestricted online very young had a lot of very positive impacts on me. I was starting to question why I didn’t have similar personalities or interests than my classmates. And going online helped me realize that I wasn’t alone. And hearing curse words and seeing kissing never caused any damage. That’s why, even though I’m a huge advocate for monitoring, I’m a huge advocate for only interfering if your child is in danger. I found porn for the first time because Tyler Oakley (?) referenced cake farts in a video and I thought haha farts are funny and I looked it up and it was a naked woman farting on a cake. It happens. As long as they don’t click on the “horny milfs near you,” it’s okay to leave it alone and never bring it up.
As I said, was just thinking about the Nth room and how many of the victims, mostly the minors, were contacted on Facebook or Twitter or other mainstream, often harmless apps. Apps where conversations can be quickly deleted. And when I see the stories of minor victims in that situation, I can easily envision 12 year old me falling for it.
I feel so lucky that the other 12 year old who was my first internet friend, shoutout to Katie, was a real twelve year old. We sent pics back and forth, bot those easily could have been faked. Or of someone else. There’s just so many situations I can think of being online as a kid that could have so easily ended awful if I made one different small choice.
The internet at an early age can be a gift and be a very positive thing if there are appropriate guidelines. I’m a huge defender that the internet and social media has more positives and negatives and a big believer in the benefits of being on social media and being exposed to the wider world. But I can’t deny the danger in it. This is so random and idk if anyone is reading this who has kids or plans to have kids, but when it comes to introducing them to phones and laptops, please heed the warning from philsmeatylegss

Prev Tags: # it’s literally physically painful for me
Not that anyone has asked for a lil neurosci lesson but i just wanted to say that the science absolutely supports this. I think most folks think we’re exaggerating when we say it, tho just about anyone with adhd would assure you we’re not.
So, with adhd the issue isn’t so much that we aren’t making enough dopamine, but rather that our brains can’t hang on to it. It gets made, but doesn’t bind properly with receptors and is dumped right down the brain drain before we get a chance to use it. Many adhd meds work as a sort of plug that allows the dopamine to stick around and do it’s job.
Dopamine doesn’t just make you feel good; it’s also one of the ways your brain goes about saying, “hey don’t do that thing. It’s gonna make you feel bad. Dopamineless behavior right there.” To quote someone else (if it was you please let me know; I’ll happily credit you! I just can’t find that specific post from a long while back), it’s the same mechanism that keeps you from touching a hot stove cuz it would hurt.
Understimulation means your brain is operating with a disastrously low level of dopamine, and the brain’s survival mechanism is to get you to stop doing the thing that is putting you in that position i.e. stop being bored
On meds, tho, there is a consistent level of background dopamine retained that most people already get access to, which suddenly makes it possible to work through stuff you’d prefer to not be doing without wanting to peel your skin off.
okay experiencing boredom while medicated is really making me realize what a HUGE disservice we do by calling understimulation in adhd (or any other condition that impacts dopamine uptake) as "boredom." Like it really is a completely different animal with different symptoms, there's a gulf of difference between "man I wish I was doing something else right now" and "I've been put in the mental and emotional equivalent of a stress position and I need to do anything that will alleviate it Right Now"

my strategy for how to properly do research on a particular discussion topic, in order to have your own opinion/stance:
find out what you're in for! casually scroll through tags for the topic on social media, google it to see what the first results are, read the wikipedia page on it, stuff like that to get a broad overview of generally what the topic even is and what you have to learn
write down a list of subtopics or discussion points you commonly see. as an example, if you were researching whether cats or dogs are better, your list would look something like: "general amount of maintenance required, predictability, trainability, energy level, affection, lifespan, lifestyle" etc.
look into each of those points individually from multiple sources, from different opinions and different levels of credibility. for the cats or dogs example, you would be looking for sources from people who prefer cats AND people who prefer dogs. you would also look for a combination of everyman/community opinions, professional opinions, and direct scientific research/academic papers (if applicable). if you have friends who are into this topic, ask them! just try not to be inclined to agree with them just because they're your friend - avoiding bias would be easiest if you had several friends on different sides (e.g. at least one who prefers cats and at least one who prefers dogs) and you could consult all of them separately.
for scientific research, the best way to quickly get an overview on the topic is to use a resource like google scholar or pubmed to search for review articles on the topic. these are articles that summarize and analyze a bunch of the existing studies and put them into context, so that you don't have to read a billion studies yourself. however, this can be flawed and biased according to the author - a quick way to fix this would be to just read multiple review articles and consider what they agree and disagree on. if you want 100% scientific accuracy on every detail, you should critically read a lot of individual studies yourself, but this is very time consuming and rarely does it matter that much lol. just take what you read with a grain of salt, and read several sources if you can. if the actual research papers are too hard to read and jargon-heavy for you, it's okay to turn to other sources that explain the research in a way that makes sense, just keep in mind potential bias!
throughout this process, you'll likely have already been forming an opinion of your own - or maybe you even started out with one. at this stage, you take a step back and look at the big picture. consider which option sounds best according to what you know, what your values are, and what works best for you. but also, consider WHY people disagree with you. that is ESPECIALLY important if your side seems like the obvious choice. why do people disagree with you if that's the case? especially if the split isn't "most people vs vocal minority", like pro- and anti-vaccination; if it's closer to 50/50 or 40/60, really take the time to understand WHY so many people don't come to the same conclusion as you. you do not get to answer this with personal judgements like "because they're stupid" or "because they're evil". really try to put yourself in their shoes. you don't have to change your opinion at all, you don't have to agree with a single word they say. just genuinely consider it with good intentions, and then come to your own conclusion. this is where you really apply critical thinking to your research.
congratulations, you've now successfully come to your own educated conclusion! if you choose to share your wisdom with others, do this in the form of educational posts where you share your research or some of your own reasoning with the public. a wonderful way to make a difference is to paraphrase or summarize some of the research you did to make that information more accessible to the public! what you will NOT do is guilt trip, harass, judge, mock, or otherwise put down other people on the internet! yes, even if they are "the other side", and even if they are "morally bad" or hurting people by disagreeing with you. more harm and hatred won't fix that problem! instead, calmly share what you know and block freely :)

I don't think it's ever reasonable to stop interacting with minors. Sociologically, it's really important for people in different age groups (or generations) to interact with each other. That means people who are 17 and 36 or 45 and 84 or 3 and 52, whatever the age difference. It helps us build language and uphold a sense of community, and it's also important to interact with people of all ages to learn new and different things about the world. A Baby Boomer might be able to tell a Gen Z person about things they remember from the Civil Rights Movement in the United States that aren't commonly taught in the school system, and vice versa, maybe the Gen Z person learned something about the Civil Rights Movement in their high school history class from a document that was found discovered in the 80s that the Baby Boomer had never heard of. And you can learn all kinds of things at any age from any person! For instance, statistically, how many adults do you think are learn facts about dinosaurs or bugs from people their own age? Probably most of the dinosaur or bug facts that they hear/learn are from children who in turn learned it from adults on TV or online. It's all a cycle of learning!!!
That's not to say that kids/minors and adults don't need their own separate spaces to exist with their peers, but I think if you turn 18 and you say "okay I'm never going to willingly interact with minors again unless I become a parent or choose a job that requires me to interact with them" then you're losing out on a lot of learning and a lot of community. And you don't even have to like kids/teens! I personally don't particularly like children, but I don't necessarily go out of my way to avoid interacting with them if the opportunity arises either (there are a lot of little kids in my neighborhood who like to ring my doorbell and ask if they can pet my cats and sometimes I have to tell them I'm busy but there have been occasions where I'll let one or two hang out for a minute to pet the cats with their parents' permission, and while hanging out I've found that each of the kids is very endearing in their own way)!
As far as online spaces go, I think the "minors dni" label is silly. For the above stated reasons but also because it doesn't truly work. I believe that (if we're just talking about Tumblr) blogs that are going to post a lot of NSFW things should advertise their blog as such, but it should be kind of the same as the warning on AO3, y'know the one that's like "hey you've clicked on a work that includes mature topics and we just wanna make sure you know that before you proceed, just go ahead and hit yes or no". I'm not saying we should just give minors free access to all things NSFW but like, what teen in the age of computers didn't look up videos or pictures that they weren't supposed to? We've all heard the "yes of course I'm over 18 years of age but just to be safe I'm going to set my birth year as 1934" bullshit. I definitely did stuff like that as a kid when I wanted to access an age restricted website.
Overall, it's probably not gonna stop minors if you have a "minor dni" tag on your blog. And it's up to us non-minor folks to teach those minors Internet safety and decorum. Teach them to check their sources. Teach them how to keep their information private. Teach them reading comprehension. Teach them to look out for warning signs like "NSFW" or "18+" and how to filter tags or posts that might trigger them. Teach them that if a post is properly tagged with all the appropriate trigger warnings and they looked at it and it triggered them, that's not the creator's fault; it is everyone's own job to curate their social media experience and social media works the same way as fanfiction: if you don't like it you don't have to interact with it. It's literally as simple as backing out of the page. Most of all, teach them that they do not have to be afraid of adults or minors on the Internet. Yes, of course there are always going to be scary people on the Internet and a lot of them are adults, but what I mean by the previous statement, especially in a fandom heavy space like Tumblr, is interact with people outside your age range! Get different perspectives on your blorbos! Learn that the Internet, fandom, and the world, are not just for young people, because no matter what age we are, we're all people. Senior citizens are people. Preteens are people. Newborns are people. And ultimately, I highly doubt you will ever run into a single person, online or face to face, that you will learn nothing from. You could learn something from them as huge as astrophysics. You could learn something as small (but just as important) as the name someone chose for their pet fish and what it means to them.
Always keep learning, as long as you are able.

hey in the post where you gave website ideas you said to send an ask for coding related ones you had if anyone wanted them. Those sound really interesting for me if you have time to send some?
I don't know if they're gonna be new to you, but I do have a couple!
So there's the most famous one probably: stackoverflow - solves problems. If there's something specific you don't know how to do or you get a weird error message.
I think also it's useful to keep in mind that most, or possibly all, libraries you import from will have documentation or a reference page. Just search it up for each API/library name. Those sites can be fairly useful. If nothing else, you might end up with a more specific question.
And then there's Mozilla webdocs: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web (in the references tab). Some people don't like this one, I've used it a lot
If you want to be taught stuff properly, without knowing what questions to ask at all, w3schools is probably the way to go. They have more languages than I can be bothered to type out, but for example HTML, python and C++. This is free just like all the previous btw.
scrimba also exists, I haven't really used it, but it is based on interactive videos I believe. It costs money depending on you. They have a free plan and two paid ones.
And for finding APIs: rapidapi.com has quite a lot. Some cost money, some are free. Usually you can use something for a bit for free and later it costs money. Spotify also has an API which I think is free, that's what all those spotify statistics websites use (obscurifymusic, spotistats, spotifytools, etc).
Then onto more specifically HTML/CSS related websites: google fonts (free fonts). flexboxfroggy (learn flexbox CSS), pixabay (royalty free images), color.review (check if your color contrast is good enough), wireframing (layouts and stuff, not coding).
And importantly: w3 dot org! There's a lot of info there about accessibility, including guidelines. Take note of this page: web accessibility evaluation tools (websites).
I don't remember what these are, I just found them in my bookmarks: webdesignerwall.com, css zen garden, css-tricks, smashingmagazine.com, kevinpowell.co, rfc-editor.org, coolors.org, caniuse.com .
digital safety frameworks: ISO/IEC 27002:2013 , The 18 CIS Critical Security Controls, NCSC CAF guidance, Cybersecurity Framework | NIST, SP 800-53 – NIST Risk Management Framework | CSRC, Information Security Manual (ISM) | Cyber.gov.au, Federal Office for Information Security (Germany), COBIT | Control Objectives for Information Technologies | ISACA, OWASP Foundation , ITIL | IT Service Management | Axelos
and digital safety laws (obiously check your own countries laws (at least a summary)): General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR, The Directive on security of network and information systems - NIS Directive, EU Cybersecurity Act, Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, Cloud Act Resources
with the laws and frameworks they're most useful if you're not sure, realistically you can't read all of that. But yeah. if you're in the EU or EEA (or expect users from there) you should definetly make sure you understand the basics of the GDPR if you're collecting any data from users that aren't yourself.
This was longer than I expected. This isn't even all that's out there. You might find some stuff on alternativeto.com, articles and web searches too. And also a couple more websites on my neocities, mostly accessibility stuff, not sure if there's anything that's not covered here there though.
[for anyone finding this through tags: I am a queer guy who uses neopronouns and interacting is showing support and appriciation for my queer identity, not just the post.]
