oh dear lord it's been another year. 2024! can you believe it! i don't talk much on this blog because i have a tendency to talk too much, but it's my little new year's treat, so here we go.

RECAP

i started taking drawing "seriously" in December of 2020, starting to do studies and stuff, and each year since i've ramped it up more and more. this year, i did. a lot of studies. there's probably like at least 200 more in my folder now (not including the 300 days worth of gesture drawings i did), with things like painting, faces, feet, poses, etc. anything i was struggling with, i went right into studying it. my art has been mediocre for a pretty long time now, and it's only the past few months where i feel i'm starting to get the hang of it, which is exciting!

more importantly, i started posting a lot more on this blog. i really like documenting my progress, looking on where i was before and seeing how i've improved. everytime i draw some fanart, im like, oooghh i can't wait to show my (: followers (: !! lots of locked tomb art of course. i've been trying to nail the energy of the different characters, which is why i enjoy books so much, because you get a lot of creative control. drawing ianthe is my fav of course, cause she's my lil nasty, but also i enjoyed doing designs for characters i hadnt thought about before, like judith.

in addition to the locked tomb, we had some new fandoms that got brief moments in between iantheposting: Fear and Hunger, Postal, Faith The Unholy Trinity, and a couple of old ones too, like We Have Always Lived In The Castle and The Merciless.

i posted about 115 times this year, although most of those are shitposts LOL i love posting stuff on my blog and showing people my stuff <3

THE FUTURE

my plans? do more ianthe art, of course. ill be working on more studies, probably going to work on developing a style, and figuring out how to paint. i'd like to do more actually finished pieces, but let's be honest, it'll still be mostly shitpost doodles. i'd like to do more weird stuff. i've been messing around with some gore and NSFW near the end of the year, and it's fun to draw for me. i like idk art that evokes some type of emotion, especially discomfort, and so i find that type of art fun to do, so if you don't enjoy what i've done thus far in that direction, perhaps this isn't the blog for you. i really like horror media, and so i want to do some stuff like that too.

for specifics, i like western type art, a comic book-esque style i'd like to aim for. but i'd like it to be a little more. weird with it. i find comic books often draw all the characters the same, and make all the characters traditionally attractive, and that's boring to me so i'll have to work on finding a way to keep things weird, while also appealing in a graphic sense. the worst thing my art could be is bland and forgettable.

locked tomb wise... more tridentarii art. need to be really weird with it. i have lots of wips planned, like i have a whole page worth of just thumbnails, so i wanna get some of those done. also i had a few animatics i wanted to do. mostly stupid shit, once i learn how to do animatics, then we'll do actual serious ones. id also like to do more comics. i have some comics storyboarded out with my girlies, i like telling a story so, need practice on that. id also like to develop a way to consistently draw them, for convenience sakes, so i'm not fighting for my life every single time i draw these characters. oh and i wanna do some outfit stuff. i draw them in like. generic clothes everytime but i'd like to come up with a few actual outfit designs, that i can just reference back to. and, of course, more shitposts. lots of stupid shit in 2024 for sure. there was something else i wanted to say here but i can't remember.

oki enough rambling, here's some IMAGES for yall to look at i know everyone loves to look at images.

began this year by warming up with gesture sketches (almost) every day. i started with 20 poses (30 seconds each), and then in november i was like. ugh my hands suck i need to get better at hands, so i switched to doing 10 hand sketches (60 seconds each). i want my art to be very energetic so it's important that i do these !!

anatomy studies of extremities because i'm flopping at those -_- ive gotten better with hands but they're still a struggle. i hate feet tho still

need to get my painting game up. i joined an art forum to get advice, and the biggest suggestion i got was working on my values, so i did various value studies. also lots of faces because my faces flop !!

random doodles to work on drawing from imagination. on my "sketchbook" pages, as i like to call them, i'm usually pretty loose and messy, since the point is just to be drawing so often these will suck, but that's fine. i don't think very much when i draw faces on here either so they end up being in my Instinctive Style i suppose you could say

ianthe wip. i was planning to do a few drawings based on the idea of her having Missing Arm nightmares, but the lineart was intimidating to me so i haven't worked on this one more yet /: also there was going to be a toontown gay homosexual toxic yuri comic that i was gonna put here with it but the page is way too long so umm guess that'll have to wait.

fon's 2023 in fic

so in order to distract myself from yet another fic flopping miserably i'm gonna do the compilation of all the flops from the entire year! :'D

a big big thank you to those of you who said nice words about my stuff, who left comments on the fics, and who helped me finish surprisingly many works this year. i am truly grateful for every single lovely comment i got! 💖 that is what kept me going, what made things feel worthwhile, and what helped me through many a dark moment.

i do still have works in progress but at the same time this sort of feels like a goodbye. idk. we'll see. but I can't keep pouring from an empty chalice and the fandom clearly does not want to help me fill it so we're at an impasse :'D it feels increasingly much that exiting stage left is the right move, as much as i don't want to and as much as it hurts to let go. but I digress.

on a more positive note, I can, hand to heart, say that I am extremely pleased with pretty much everything i wrote this year :D it's got to count for something, right!

my tragedy and my desire | M | 2k |  Leon struggles through the mission to rescue the president's daughter, constantly feeling like he’s being stalked. He has no idea how right he is about that. And how bad things will end for him.

Since no one is curious about any particular fic, I'll just answer in a general sense, Lav 🥲 I'll address it to everyone who'd come across this post. 1. How long does it take me to plan and write a story? Do I take breaks during the process? > I don't have stellar records. So far, out of nine that I uploaded on ffnet, I have two completed one shots (one of those, I promised I'd write a part two, but I'm not interested in it anymore), a completed short multi-chapter fic, a microfic anthology, and then all the rest are WIPs. I've been DM for 7-8 years now... That's how long it is to plan my most read fic xD Technically, it is complete, but I promised some extra chapters and I could just never get it done. I'm answering in a roundabout way because I'm not as organized as Lav when planning and writing my fics. I don't keep records, I mostly go by feeling. However, if I do put my mind into it, I guess I could be the type to set a deadline and get it done. Though it's not a guarantee that I'd get the response that I hope for, and that makes me feel gutted. So, in my case, after getting familiar with my writer self through all these years, I need to believe in the importance of a fic more than anyone so that no matter the response and readership, I'd never stop until it's complete. How long does it take me to plan and write a story? Until the will to do it takes me through its completion, that's my answer. Do I take breaks? Hahaha! It's breaks that need to be taken from me.

2. How do I decide what tense and POV(s) to use? > Past. Third person limited POV. Those are my default. I don't think much about it. 3. Talk about your editing and revision process. > Even after I finish uploading a fic, I'll always end up finding errors here and there. I don't have a perfect chapter unlike PianoCoat. When I see an error in PianoCoat's chapter, I'm like, "whoa, that's rare." I edit for as long as I see mistakes, and for as long as I wanted to check for mistakes. I used to be more prudent with this, especially with my first fic, but recently, I don't have much time anymore, and you know, that's fine. I run it through Grammarly-sensei and even after then, I'd still catch some errors. Fresh eyes? Don't know her. Maybe give it five to ten years, then I'd truly have fresh eyes. Not the day after. Fresh eyes I tell you, isn't necessarily a good thing. Your past self's treasure could turn into your future self's cringe. My verdict: I edit and revise, but I'm not the best person for it.

4. Share your favorite detail. > 🤔... This took long for me to think about to be honest. I think I've already told everyone in the SasuHina Month discord about things I liked that I felt those are old things that aren't necessarily very true for current me anymore. I'm thinking maybe something from my most recent works. Is 2022 recent? Doesn't matter, let me tell you about it, 'cause I haven't told this to someone yet. I liked how my story for SH Month 2022 Day 3: Dépaysement took everyone on a journey where they didn't know how it would turn out. That's my favorite part about it. People knew it was a SasuHina story, but they weren’t able to predict the ending because the experience of the journey had immersed them. Also, I liked that Hinata had a hard time with the goats. That part was semi-autobiographical🤣

6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?...This is hard cause most of my fics are unfinished as of right now but.... I think Lacuna for posted but unfinished fics and uh. two of my so far unposted BG3 fics will take the running once they get posted.

7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? A lot of them could probably be considered the "happiest" mostly cause i usually make the characters go through the worst of it right before the resolution so comparatively they're happy. >.>

8) Do you get hate on fics? So far no, maybe the occasional pedantic comment that i just... ignore. I think LF was the only fic where I had to deal with that. Perks of being relatively small in fandoms.

9) Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Nah, not my cup of tea.

10) Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? The only one I've written I think is the Hob Gadling meets Sebastian Le Livre and become immortal drinking buddies. That's only been posted here on tumblr though.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge!

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope, I'd be open to the idea of any of my writer buds want to try something low stakes for fun and giggles.

14) What’s your all time favorite ship? I'm not sure I could answer this one cause I'll immediately think of another ship the moment I try and define a favorite ship for 'all time'. Which is great cause there's so many good fandoms and ships out there, what a cool thing to never run out of.

15) What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I also am not a super big fan of this question cause sometime a fic needs years to crystalize into what its supposed to be and we're all doing this for fun/for free... sooooooo you get what you get, and WIPs aren't worth less to the fandom just because they're incomplete.

16) What are your writing strengths? Making people cry (hopefully)

17) What are your writing weaknesses? Anything resembling a consistent writing or posting schedule.

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? You ask this as if I didn't do a ton of research and base my own knowledge of linguistics to write semi-coherent lingurian in Lingua Franca. If I feel I can pull it off to some degree and it adds to the story? oh hell yes. It's also one of my favorite literary devices in fic and in shows (I'm looking at you Shogun 2024, you beautiful beautiful tv show on the intrigue of translation)

19) First fandom you wrote for? uhhhh. Naruto on like, fanfic.net for the super old stuff. The hobbit for my modern era lmao.

20) Favorite fic you’ve written? I don't have a favorite, I think? My brain just kind of demands I make up stories and like, I am a happier person having made up stories so I do that. Each story has something I absolutely adore about it that I needed to explore but none of them are my absolute favorite above the others.

How many works do you have on ao3?

232. Most of that is from my MCYT days. 37 are Formula 1, which is what I'm writing now.

I will be the first to tell you that some of those are serieses of oneshots that could reasonably be posted under a single work instead. But, the number is the number.

What’s your total word count?

I have 365,184 words posted as of right now, so I average ~1.5k per work. I'm happy with that.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

It's nice to see that some of my old stuff as held up. Of course, as I writer I want to keep improving, and would like this list to reflect that, but it will be a sad day when my MCYT things fall off the leaderboards.

I used to get excited when an author responded to comments that I'd left on their fics, so I thought I'd pay that forward in case there are other people that feel similarly.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Well. I have 232 fics, so I'm not going to remember all of them. But from what comes to mind Only Pain (Traffic SMP, Scarian) had an angst ending.

Something more recent that has an angsty ending in Already Packed (F1, Lestappen) from Made In The A.M (one of the oneshot series that could've been a single fic).

Wait. I think Jaskier dies at the end of The Flowers' Breath (Witcher, Gaskier).

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

Uhm. See this is tough because I have written a lot of very crack-filled oneshots. I'm not going to pick any of those, instead I'll say Holdin' On (F1, Lestappen) also from Made In The A.M. Cause that whole series of Max and Charles are exs, and this is the fic in which they get back together. It's a little more impactful if you read the previous instalments in the series though.

Do you write crossovers?

No. I just don't really vibe with them. Don't read them either.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not that I remember, or that I'm aware.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do write smut. I'm actually trying to get better at it by writing a Winner's Room series with Max and Charles (F1).

I keep them M/M. It's pretty vanilla: anal and oral, the usual.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I remember, or that I'm aware.

Not yet.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No. One of my weaknesses as a writer is that I don't like brainstorming with other people about my ideas at all. But I am more than happy to chat with other people about / through their ideas. So like, no, not in any official capacity as the question implies.

I don't think I have an all-time favourite ship, but Dramione has been a staple of my reading habits. When I'm in a slump and need a jumpstart to get back into reading they always do the trick.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

One of the first WIPs I semi-plotted out in my drafts is a Lando/Oscar/Logan OnlyFans fic. Based on where I am right now, and the priorities list I've got for my drafts, I don't know if I'm ever going to get around it to. And that's a real shame.

What are your writing strengths?

I'm going to say my sense of style. I have a very particular way of crafting my sentences, and a lexicon that has very specific words I tend to use over and over. I also have a liberal love of the use of em-dashes, which I've found isn't typical.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Description. I have this habit of painting broad strokes, but never getting into the details.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I speak French as a second language, so I sometimes will give Charles, Pierre, and Esteban French dialogue. I don't like the way translations look in the middle of fics, so I try to look at it with my English brain and see if it looks like one could be able to pick out the main words and plough through without pulling out their translation app of choice. Or, like in the case of A Pile of Navy Clothes (F1, Lestappen), I will have another character summarize what was just said but in English. Like in that fic, Pierre and Charles notice Max in Charles' nest and talk French about it, and then Lando comes in and also notices.

I also try to follow musical theatre rules with the French: if the emotions are too much for speech, sing; if the emotions are too much for singing, dance -> if the emotions are too much, swap to native language. But only for the French speakers, sorry Max, I don't speak Dutch.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Dream SMP, MCYT. It was a Technoblade fic, and I didn't use any names. It was only description and pronouns.

It became a stylistic thing when I wrote a sequel, but I will readily admit it that choice was because I was so shocked at myself for actually writing fic that I was in denial about it; hence not using his name.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

I have a Lockwood & Co idea that I want to put to paper. I also want to write more for Legendborn (go read Legendborn).

In terms of F1, I'd like to expand past Lestappen and explore other dynamics. There's that Lando/Oscar/Logan fic, and I have a Carlandoscar fic I will definitely be getting too at some point. I also want to do Pierresteban, but I don't think I can write hate sex yet.

What's your favourite fic you've written?

The Flowers' Breath (Witcher, Gaskier) for sure.

Made In The A.M (F1, Lestappen + Landoscar) also holds a very special place in my heart.

Leaves: Editing Process

First draft is all in my head while I walk my dog and/or fall asleep to establish idea and story vibes and just pants-ing it. Discovering the story and seeing if I can have enough to be a whole story (or if its just a kernel of an idea that might peter out).

Then there is the excruciating getting it on paper (where I need to edit less and just let it out but so its HARD). The worst part for me. I over think it and squelch a lot of the stuff that sounds good in my head.

Then there is the reading it again and tweaking/refining. Grammar checks. Reading out loud if I am home alone.

I try and jot down the big points I want to hit on a note card (like what are the big emotional beats, narrative stuff, etc.) and I'll do a read through and see if that stuff made it through or do I need to go back and fine tune.

Ghost: WIP Ideas haunting me

So many! I have three I want to finish by the end of the year

a father's day mini story with translation mix-ups and someone realizing the depths of their family feelings

a Mantis crew getting tipsy and watching the space Olympics BUT I need to figure out the back half even though its mostly just character beats. (basically it's merrin and greez bonding post-Nur)

and the one I am really vibing with now is for JFO Cal getting stuck at Ordo Eris for like a week cause like it takes Cere and Greez a while to find him. Cause I read a great book about gladiators and I want to play with that setting more. There will be stupid sexy parties and nightmarish gladiator fights and I can write an incredibly self indulgent crossover with an obscure 80s dystopian film (Blood of Heroes) just cause it would make me laugh to fold that in. Now it would be a lot of action to write so I need to learn how to do that.

The one that needs to be tackled when I get better at writing cause it is like growing in scope every time I think about it and it's a Clue like Awful Rich people murder mystery. So I need loads more experience before I can tackle a satisfying plot mystery but I'm enjoying the planning. The fun part is Cal solving a murder mystery via Psychometry. The emotional through line is Cal and Reva being put in touch by the Hidden Path and basically being like hey it's my kindergarten classmate and you've both been through hell and trauma! but also like hey someone who understands you! And needing a teacher for Kata (who isn't the guy who killed her dad)

I have a silly body swap story just for shenanigans but I don't know if is anything too it other than wanting to give Greez force powers for a couple of hours. (And making someone end up in BD and freaking out about not having lungs and cause it's an interesting philosophy problems of are bots sentient?)

And a won't work with canon cloning lore... but I want Cal breaking into a remote facility on a hidden path mission... and discovering a like 8 year old clone of Cere and maybe a mini-clone of himself and just a gaggle of force sensitive kiddies needing rescue. So he and Greez can just have Emotions about Cere while dealing with many small children on the Mantis.

hellow, i hope so far you´re doing ok since i saw you were struggling a bit with your health. though i'm quite new to your content i finally got the time to check some of your writings, i'd say i ended pretty hooked on them ahsfgsdjhs, tbh i'm not much of a fic reader of anything at all, specially since i don't think i have seen anything sailor moon related since my teens lmao. But i still wanted to let you know that i'm glad i have found it, as i tried to recall some about the pgsm plot (there's a chance i must have ended rewatching it ahsjhdsj and my gosh there were so many subtle things i missed 'cause i watched it when i was quite young haha) there were some other things that came to my mind that i wish were explored on the series, curiously most of it i found it on your fics 🤣 (i really like the way you expanded the pgsm characters through your stories) there were even some parts when i could 100% visualize them, may i have randomly doodle some stuff, who knows(?, oh! and your drawings as well, i saw this one about the Final Act *chef kiss*👌

There are other things i'd like to comment but i don't want to spoil anything as in Ao3 there are only 6 of the rest unlike the other fic site; i'm a big fan of the V manga (it's probably the one i sometimes read to remind myself why Minako is one of my fave characters ever! though my 11 year old self would disagree cause was obssesed with Manga/tokusatsu Mars😂 ) and also the continuity of the past life lore, whether if at some point in a near future as long as you're doing ok, please take care, for real. Your message definitely encouraged me to finish chapter 7 instead of stalling some more. Made my week knowing one more person enjoys my attempt at writing a sequel. <3 My plan for the story is so ambitious sometimes I wonder if I'll be able to finish it. I even have plans to write a past life prequel and hope to do a bridging Black Moon story before introducing a Mugan arc sequel to EoT... I'm finally on the road to recovery so it's getting easier for me to sit in front of my laptop for hours on end again. I've been mostly using video games to distract myself from the discomfort coz I can easily change positions while holding the console with no problem. With a laptop... there's a limitation with the keyboard for writing and the mouse for drawing. (LMAO I still use a mouse to draw. Never learnt to properly use a drawing tablet, even though I bought one long ago it just gathering dust now...)

Yeah... I think I peaked with the final act illustration when it comes to fanart. lol Knowing I did manage to make something with a quality that even surprised me, I've been overthinking and overcomplicating all the new ideas I want to do and then my brain and hand freeze and things are left as wip. 🙈

Introductions to Writeblr From a Writer

So I never wrote one of these. Probably a good a place as any to get my foot in the door.

Who Am I?

I'm John (he/him), and I'm a 21 year old writer. I'm looking for friends, because my greatest fear is being alone in a room of a thousand people because friends are nice to have. I had the unfortunate realization that the only way I can share the stuff I make, is to actually make it? Eugh. Anywho, I'm a big fan of fantasy, mystery, comedy, mythology, folktales and urban legends, and lil guys in funny hats. I'm not here to write or read fanfiction. I respect the field, but it's not for me, apologies.

Well What Are You Here For?

Blogging about writing! Like actually! Not just thinking about it, or murmuring under my breath in the shower how cool it would be to run a blog, but like, actually doing it! I want this to be a place I can give my thoughts about storytelling and art, such as proper reviews or random ravings. I want this to be a place where I can work with other writers to hone our craft, and help each other out! Feedback, support, advice, criticism, you name it. I want this to be a place where I can share what I've written, lest the flashing cursor continue to mock me. From short stories, to tidbits of longer things, to flash fiction to everything in-between. I've been in a writing "rut," you could call it, for some time, and I'm hoping this blog will encourage me to get my fingers typing and track/show off my progress.

Huh, What Are You Writing Then?

I mostly write fantasy. My favorite type of media are stories that can make me laugh one scene and cry the next without missing a beat, so that's what I strive to write. I'm working on several things, but really I'm interested in making new things; stuff from scratch. But I'll share some tidbits of the WIPs I got:

Codename: TOaO

This is the project I've been working on the longest. It is also the one I am least comfortable sharing. Oh, not because it's my baby or my most precious project. It's cause I'm in the process of gutting it and stitching it back together to make my own Frankenstein's Monster! (did you know Frankenstein was the scientist not the--) I've been reassessing how I write and outline and reassessing this story for the last few months, and I'm kinda taking a break to work on something else right now. It's a comedy fantasy story in the vein of Discworld. The main protagonist is the world's biggest normie (that is the truth), who is an aspiring hero! ...And he can hear the narrator of the book but don't worry about that it won't lead to any problems like anxiety or depression or insanity or–– That's all I'm willing to share, because that's the only thing I know is 100% staying. Other characters, conflicts, settings, plot lines... who's to say what'll stay or what'll go? (Me. I'm to say.)

Video Essay About––

So yeah, I'm making a video essay discussing the writing of a television series. "Oh that's cool! What's the show?" Ehaha! Hahaha! Ha... sniff... ha... ugh... "Oh, this is a popular show that you think has bad writing, isn't it?" Nods Yeah... the internet. It's a scary place. And "hating" on things that people agree are bad is still gonna get you hate. But this is a passion project. I am 95% done with the script, and in the process of editing it down. It is sitting at 33k words right now. So yeah, safe to say, whatever show this is, know that I have thoughts. I'm excited to move onto the next phase of actually recording it, so that'll be fun. You'll get to see my beautiful face. (I can assure you I am very beautiful.)

Some Short Stories

These aren't actually WIPs, they're WHFs. (Work has Finished.) I have two short stories, one about a sorcerer's apprentice who murders a spell, another about a delusional overseer on a Southern plantation who is just baffled that one of the enslaved people would run away. Two very different stories, fairly different tones, and I may or may not post them here if people are interested. We'll see. Let me know.

What fandoms do you write for? So far only Harry Potter, though I've been interested in some spiderman or stranger things stuff which I might write for soon.

Do you respond to comments? The majority of them! I try my best to answer every one, or at least one if you've commented on multiple chapters in a row :)

Which of your fics have the angstiest ending? this is hard, all my halloween one shots are very angsty but which is worse? James and Lily dying, Marlene and Dorcas dying, or Mary obliviating herself? I'll leave that up to debate lol

Which of your fics had the happiest ending? I'll go with seven dials, considering that's the only fluffy fic I've actually finished, though goflb might take that spot once its done :))

Do you get hate on fics? I had an incident a couple months ago where I got flooded with some nasty comments, and I've had a couple things in the past. But so many people here came to my defence, it was lovely to see and I can't thank you all enough!

Do you write smut? Not yet... I get awkward... and scared someone I know irl will see it... but you never know...

Do you write crossovers? I have a couple marauder fic wips which take a lot of inspiration from other stories, like the Martian and httyd, but I wouldn't mark them as crossovers when I post them cause they're mainly hp

What are your writing strengths? I think im good with characters and plot, or at least that's what I enjoy doing most and what comes most naturally to me. I waste so much water standing in the shower thinking through things... I'd say im quite a proficient editor too, but idk if that counts

What are your writing weaknesses? I'm gonna say dialogue cause sometimes when I read back over conversations, they don't feel right and I spend ages tweaking it. And can I say procrastination? I struggle so much in starting writing, but once I get into it i’m fine.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language? I don't trust google translate enough to write in another language unless I knew myself it was right, so in most cases i’d find a way around it. I don't mind dialogue in other languages if its for a reason, but if that means I have to translate every other sentence it can get a bit annoying

similar to prev, most of my fics are pretty happy, but if we're going by tone shift throughout the fic then I think that has to be my most recent fic, a forecast of sun, after the rain. jon gets a hug!!!

Anything and everything I hyperfocus on. The Old Guard has the most words, but I also have Marvel, The Walking dead, Dragon Age, Snow White and the Huntsman, Fast & Furious, Alien Series and School for good and evil on there

The evil queen and her huntress, Arena, My white Knight, Flower Dances (only cause of the Kudos bug back then though) and Safe & Sound

Cottage just thinking about it makes me want to cry.

Uhhh, I almost exclusively write happy endings, so I don't know which is the happiest. Though I think either the upcoming ending for Freedom or Three times Loghain (almost) broke up with Caliane and the one time he didn't, Callie and Loghain also have a very happy ending together with a baby daughter even

Not so far, but I don't post a lot of my more 'problematic' stuff

I do, but not very much, not all that interesting for me to write most days

I love writing crossovers, my go to are my marvel crossovers for anything (not many posted though), but the craziest is probably my Hobbit/ TWD crossover which can be found in Jojo's Negan x OFC oneshots

"At arm's length" but it has runneth dry, I'd also love to finish "Layers" which I kind of hope I will get to at some point, also "Best mistake I ever made" I really want to finish it but I do doubt that'll ever happen

Dialogue and I think writing action or at least I enjoy it

description of surroundings, setting scenes, that sort of thing, I'm continously working on improving describing the very specific images in my head

18) thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I think it's cool but if not provided with translation it frustrates me and pulls me out of fics. Also if it's a language I know, it should be gramatically correct but I know how hard that is to get done in fanfic at least for myself so I usually just put everything in italics and call it a day.

Warrior Cats, still write for it occassionally, I wrote WaCa fanfics before I knew what fanfics were lol

20) Favorite fic you’ve written?

My Spirit of Vengeance series holds a very special place in my heart. It was the first series of longfics I ever finished and just a lot of long projects in a row I finished in years. A lot of firsts happened with that series an it's my baby.

So, this is not directed at you at all, I swear, it's just something I feel like I need to get off my chest...

This is the third ask in the last week I got about updating something (one of them was a clearly marked, completely finished fic???)

I know I have a lot of WIPs, believe me, nobody knows it more than I do, what's more, I would hazard a guess that nobody is bothered more by my WIPs than I am.

Whenever I feel the smallest motivation to write and open a new document I'm already feeling incredibly guilty about not doing X or Y or Z instead, and it's just making everything so much harder.

In my darker moments I've considered just... fucking deleting every fic I have on AO3 that is not completed, so that I didn't have to look at them and be constantly reminded. (Heck, many times I thought about deleting my whole AO3 account and my tumblr and starting over just so I don't have an army of WIP skeletons in my closet... because sometimes I get asked about updating something in the comments of something else...)

There are a few reasons why a fic doesn't get updated; I'm stuck with the plot cause what I planned originally just isn't working and I don't know how to make it so, I lose inspiration either cause I feel like what I've written is shitty or cliche, and sometimes I just get tired of a story for some unknown reason or or or...

Please believe me when I tell you, no story is left unfinished because I forgot it existed, or I'm just being an asshole and withholding the rest of it just to spite you. If I could finish them, I would, I promise.

And I know that every time someone asks, it's with genuine good intention, because you like my stuff and it honestly should be a compliment, but it's still just making me feel more down about posting anything that isn't an old WIP that I'm not able to finish...

I don't know what the solution here is... But pretty much the only asks I get on tumblr about stuff I've written is asking for more and it's not helping.

I'm so sorry, dear nonnie, I swear this isn't about you, I know this is very much a me problem, I've just been thinking about this a lot recently.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? When it comes to fanfics, not yet. Though I got really inspired by a quite enthralling Jeanlisa Elden Ring/Genshin crossover fic, so I might try my hand at including a version of them in my own Elden Ring fic (if I ever get around to writing it).

Have you ever had a fic stolen? No, I'm far from that level (luckily, in this case).

Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, and to be honest I don't like the idea that much. It's just too different from roleplay in my eyes.

What's your all time favourite ship? Huh... I actually like too many ships to to pick an all-time no.1., but I can say that my current favorites are mostly Genshin-related.

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Huh... well, there is a League of Legends WIP, but it would need serious rewriting and editing, not to mention I'm too interested in other fandoms at the moment to even consider going back to it anytime soon (though who knows what the future will bring).

What are your writing strengths? Huh, do I have any? xD Jokes aside, I've been told I can cause decent emotional damage, so maybe that haha.

What are your writing weaknesses? Proofreading, editing, and loooooong sentences. Oh, and repeating words (mainly names) too often, but I'm working on that one.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Not really my thing. I have a hard enough time writing in English as is, since it's not my first language, though I admittedly did this in my Clorivia fic: I added probably 2-3 french words, but I think -hope- that the context makes their meaning quite obvious.

First fandom you wrote for? Overall, it would be World of Warcraft. If we only consider ao3, well, it's the anon'ed one, so it shall remain a mystery :D

Favorite fic you've written? Of course this has to be the last question... At the moment it's probbaly 'Of Pain And Priorities', since I'm neck-deep in the whole thing, but I 'just' need to write the final chapter to finish it.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I've been writing on Ao3 since '19 and I have 116 works right now, hopefully, it'll be 117 by the end of the weekend if I can get my shit together

2. What’s your total A03 word count?

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Supernatural, Spideypool, Merthur, and Buffy Verse (mainly Spangel though)

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! Always! I might be slow sometimes, but I always respond to a comment. I appreciate them so much. It always makes my day to know someone else besides me enjoyed a story I wrote. I also just love talking about my stories.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hahaha, I write so many sad and angsty things. I normally try to make a happyish ending cause I know people enjoy that (not sure if I always hit the mark, but I try). So this one took me a while to dig through stuff. I think it would be Foolishness? It's pretty sad and tragic. I enjoy it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I live in the bitter-sweet and I don't think I have many that are purely happy. I feel like the happiest of endings will not be published till next year though. I think The Valley Kingdoms is pretty happy. Even if in my mind it's not an end more like a middle, but it is the end of that part of the story.

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

No, not yet.

9. Do you write smut?

Yes. So much smut.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Hehe, I write crossovers of my own stories. But no not of fandoms.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of as of now.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, I've had two fics translated, and I am beside myself with joy that someone wanted to take the time to translate them for others. Wine and Dine is available in Russian as well as some of Learn (I believe they have only done up to chapter 5 of Learn on Ficbooks)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Nope, not yet.

14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?

I swoon for Spideypool every single time, forever.

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Dude this question is evil right now. I am currently trying desperately to empty my drive of my WIPs (not counting my multi-chapter fics) before switching how I store my stories. I still have so many not-posted works, and I want to finish them all. But, I know I won't. I probably won't finish Once and Future Soulmates. It's an angsty sci-fi meets fantasy Merthur idea I started writing that has a few chapters written, but it's a big project and idk I just haven't gotten to it. As far as posted WIPs I plan on finishing them all.

16. What’s your writing strengths?

World building and that blend of happy sad. I think I'm pretty good at that

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Word choice and like lack of repetition with body movements. I struggle with body movements and tracking.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I typically don't, other than like phrases I know. Writing in character dialogue is hard enough, to be completely honest.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Lord of the Rings! I still have some of it posted on my Ao3 but my old drives and the internet ate the rest of the story and my prequel ;-;

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

It would be a tie between any of the Monster Eater Verse fics and the Common Deadpool Distractions series. I love those verses so so dearly and I re-read them often.
