So I'm currently working on my wolfstar pirate au, The Subtle Art of Sinking Ships. So far it's at 95K words, 12 chapters, but I don't want to start posting until I've finished it. I'm making good progress tho!

Here's a snippet from chapter 2 (for context, Greyback is a pirate who kidnapped Remus when he was 5. Shortly after, Remus bumps into Sirius in Knockturn alley)

Remus felt for the knife in his back-pocket. It reminded him to retrieve the silver coins from his old pair of trousers. “Where did you get it anyway?” Sirius pressed about the knife. “Err… an uncle…” “My cousin Bella has loads of knives but she never gives me any.” Remus shot him a curious look. “Why would you need a knife?” “To kill pirates,” Sirius said simply. “Duh.” Remus stilled. He stared at Sirius, waiting for the laugh, for the punchline. But for once, the boy looked serious.
