Sometimes I feel like people who use chatgpt for “art” purposes literally don’t understand art. It’s not about the end result. I genuinely like writing and drawing. I literally love the process. It’s not about content. I like finding the right words and coming up with stories; I like drawing expressions. I don’t post half of what I write/draw because I’m doing it for me. I love the process.

Look, I’m never going to be a good runner. I still like running, but I’m not running a race because I want to be the best—I want to be the best that I can be. And I like running because it’s fun. I don’t look at professional runners and wish I had a shortcut to get to their level. But the truth is, I COULD be a professional runner. If I trained for years, hired a coach, dedicated myself, etc. But I do NOT want to train for that. I don’t like running that much!

Sometimes I ask my students who are like, “I want to publish a novel.” Which. Fair. But do you even like writing novels? Do you even like the “making of” part? Stop forcing yourself to do art you don’t even like doing or give yourself permission to be “bad” at it.

Idk. Why do we all have to be professional/push out “content” all the time? I never beta my fics. Sorry, I just don’t. I run through a grammar check but that’s about it. It’s not because I don’t care about my readers, but we need to be better at accepting mistakes/imperfection, and I’m doing this for fun. I’m just sharing what I did for fun, you know?

I remember seeing a quote about AI that said along the lines of “if you couldn’t be bothered to write it, why should I be bothered to read it?”

Humans instinctively try to find and relate to the emotions behind art/stories/music - which AI can never replicate. It will make anything feel cheap and shallow. An artist’s effort is always beautiful and if you can’t accept that, why bother trying in the first place?

2022: Another Bloody Mary (3.7k) - An exploration of Mary Macdonald’s grief throughout the first and second war. Headcanon: Mary obliviates herself.

2023: Footnotes (Dorlene, 3.6k) - Two excerpts from the Daily Prophet, and a love letter lost to time. Headcanon: Dorcas goes after Voldemort to avenge Marlene's death.

2024: The Waning Hours (Wolfstar, 4.9k) - a series of Remus' journal entries after a full moon, spanning 1971 - 1982. Canon compliant.

Hopefully I'll be back with another in 2025... :))

like i'm sorry but we as a fandom have to stay firm on our anti-AI values. we cannot suddenly start giving AI a pass when it's something we "want to see" like destiel kisses. it's not suddenly fine. we're not going to start using AI to make fanfic scenes come to life or audio AI to make characters "say" stuff we want to hear. you have GOT to be firm on your anti-AI stance. if you start making exceptions then suddenly anything will fly. fandom is for real art and creations made by real people. no AI fanfics. no AI art. no AI rendered "bonus" scenes. no AI audio. none of it has a place here.

As a rule of thumb, don't reblog donation posts or people asking for donations unless they've been vetted and reblogged by Palestinian bloggers. We usually go to lengths to verify this shit because we know scammers have been faking to get people to send them money, using the urgency of our genocide as bait.

It's disgusting this is what we're dealing with, but people are losing money because of some truly evil people out there.
