I'm taking this online gemology course which is like. The industry standard and has reliable information and all that. But EVERY SINGLE time they talk about selling diamonds and marketing I just feel ICKY. because a good chunk of those "sales practices" they recommend are just straight up manipulation and fucking unethical.

#No I will NOT say the cracks in this diamond in the shape of a cross are a selling point.#They're inclusions that lower the value of the stone. What the FUCK why would they tell me to do that.#no i will not tell the customer this off colour diamond theyre looking at is “reminiscent of candlelight”#its off colour. a factor that lowers the value.#its not a fucking selling point and its DEFINITELY not something i should present as a positive!!#like. theres nothing wrong with buying or selling low quality diamonds!! its just a really fancy rock!!#but you HAVE to have transparency about what characteristics the stone has #and what those mean about the value #repeat after me - DONT FUCKING LIE TO CUSTOMERS ABOUT WHAT THEYRE BUYING #wow ok. i have a lot of feeling about this.#petit talks
