I will say now that I’m fleshing out some more of my au’s so they can eventually be written, is that the problem with coming up with so many ‘Ant raised away from the Nektons’ au’s is that I have to figure out how to get Ant away from the Nektons in the first place. And I have to figure out something for each au that doesn’t feel so repetitive of another au

Like, it can’t be as simple as ‘he was stolen as a baby’ each time. That’s usually what happens, but it can’t be so repetitive and simple each time. It has to fit the plot! There has to be variety! I can’t cheap-skate my way out of it each time by casually making it so simple and unimportant as ‘some random person we don’t know and won’t meet just baselessly stealing him’! There has to be a reason! A plot-grown circumstance! It needs to make sense! It can’t be that easy to just steal a baby from a submarine miles underwater!
