• when or if I started shipping it

the intro lmao

on a slightly more serious note, the casino arc sorta coalesced the burgeoning ship feels, and it just got more intense as the show went on

• my thoughts

okay okay okay the first time i saw them + their fusion gimmick in the crossover movie with Fourze and OOO? i was sold on the premise of W immediately.

the dynamic of ‘dude who cares A Lot trying to be a hardboiled tough guy’ and ‘well-meaning but KY genius with hyperfixation’ is just top tier stuff, they compliment each other’s strengths and weaknesses really well?? also they both have impeccable fashion sense but in like. divergent directions.

also the opening ships it hard. “It’s not a dream I can reach alone, if it’s with you we can make it so [...] Two bodies and souls in one (I’ll ride with you and no one else)! When I meet my ultimate partner, a miracle will happen” like. COME ON

• What makes me happy about them

god damn they love each other SO MUCH!!! we get to see their partnership develop through these 49 eps, and sure they screw up from time to time, but they are a unit!!!

i’m also grateful there’s so much content and subtext (that might as well be text given how blatant it is) for the ship in the show

• What makes me sad about them

i guess that year of [SPOILERS]... i get teary just thinking about ep 48 

and that Philip’s actor is now too busy (uninterested?) for W cameo appearances

• things done in art/fic that annoys me

i don’t think i’ve really read or saw any fan content that rubbed me the wrong way...? i don’t really read much KR fic tho, so maybe I just haven’t found it yet

i guess uh excessively horny content is a Big No for me, tho i don’t think i’ve seen any aside from official sequel Fuuto Detectives, where het tex horny content is through the goddamn roof

resolving emotional tension after [SPOILER], also something that gives more depth to Philip’s family and his situation? and of course they gotta include best girl Akiko 

i also really like it when Philip’s approach to romance/intimacy is maybe slightly academic but not weirdly depersonalized or detached?? idk how to articulate it

• Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other

Solving cases in Fuuto and babysitting for Akiko and Accel. just... being the best guardians to their beloved city

this is so sappy but i feel like they’re the kind of couple that likes to chill in the same vicinity—they’re doing their own thing in a shared space and taking comfort in the promise of proximity and the radiation of each other’s presence. with the mind link they don’t need to be near to know the other is around, but I imagine the physical closeness would be comforting after [SPOILERS]

so yeah, staying near each other in the same room is their favorite activity i guess

Grease/Rogue

• when or if I started shipping it

it wasn’t really until after grease confronted croc man with his role in akaba's death that i got invested

• my thoughts

OKAY i resisted for a while because Rogue killed Akaba, and I couldn't quite wrap my head around them moving past that... then they had the ultimatum showdown at the 3 Crows' grave markers, complete with the two of them addressing that issue, and the rest is history

also this applies more in the new world, but they're both in leadership positions who wanted to (at least initially) take care of people who rely on them (croc man got uh influenced by mars gas but! he seemed genuine in the past and in the new world about serving the interests of his people) and the dynamic of that has a lot of potential—leadership through a more homey/familial structure compared to leadership of a system/social institution

• What makes me happy about them

have i mentioned how much i like bickering dumbasses who are ride or die for each other?? that madcap scheme to raise their hazard levels is some top tier stuff

• What makes me sad about them

they dead 😢

I mean their new world selves survive but. y'know.

the fact that there's scarcely any content for them 😔😔😔

1. new world content (the 3 crows play wingman to varying degrees of success),

2. new world content specifically involving agriculture/farming policies and general politics,

3. missing scenes in the og timeline after croc man joins the team, just hanging out and shooting the shit together, slice-of-life moments betweeen all the heroics

• Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other

uhhh idk but definitely NOT sawa and misora, they were pretty creepy towards the gals

• My happily ever after for them

in the new world they probably meet when Mr Prime Minister’s Son tours the countryside to find out more about what the govt can do to help people etc, and there's this instant irritation/familiarity when he meets the proprietor of the Sawatari Farm... they settle down eventually but not before they've done what they could to improve ppl's situations in their respective fields

BICKERING!! and cooking i guess—gotta put those fresh farm produce to good use! (honestly bickering is the default in their interactions. they will never not bicker)
