➥ summary: it’s awkward all around, but somehow you get a friend and a model out of an encounter.

➥ author’s note: this is so late and so bad, i’m sorry. i literally struggled with this so unnecessarily much and i don’t even know why exactly, because this is such an interesting concept. please excuse my bad writing in this and my lack of knowledge in photography, i have done some research but i know it probably isn’t enough. i hope the anon is still around and sees it! have a great time lovelies, and i hope you enjoy this little.. chaos heheh 💕 (i hate it here i do)

“Hey, can I talk to you for a second?”

The room was scorching hot, and you were just trying to leave.

The club’s meeting had started around three hours ago for the last meeting before the big competition. One that was international and people had taken their sweet time getting ready for; a few months of preparation to potentially take the photograph that would grant them money, a lot of press, an opportunity to photograph the cover of a photography magazine and overall pride. Members had been taking about possibly restarting commission work and whether the club should do commission work as a society, free of the school, so that they could have a chance at getting better coverage from local blogs and newspapers, and requiring better payment for their work.

Nothing about the competition, really. Everyone was talented, and everyone was confident. They did not make a big deal out of it. Sure, they had been preparing for months on end as well and they had taken countless potential shots that would end up in the competition— but at this point they had long selected the one.

So when Johnny, the club president (who everyone on this campus that is home to thousands of students knows and has conversed with one way or another) stops you instead of them, the ones who could actually use words of encouragement and what not, it feels kind of weird. You stop before you can go out anyway, instead of pretending not to hear him. “Uh, sure. What about?”

Johnny makes eye contact with you when you turn around, and smiles apologetically before lifting a finger up signaling one second, and moves to close the door. He starts talking before he can come back to his place in front of you, where he had ben leaning against a desk. “I was looking over the last submissions for the competition and I couldn’t see your name,” And he is back, leaning against the desk again with his hands on either side, and a straight face. “You really won’t participate?”

Oh, so he had noticed. You thought nobody would, because you thought it probably would not matter if anyone decided not to take part in it. It would be a weird move to do so, yes, but considering free will and everything it was not undoable. “Ah, it’s just,” You shrug. “I don’t have a camera right now? It outlived its lifetime, and a couple months ago it thought it would be the right time to say farewell.”

He looks at you, crosses his arms on his chest, and furrows his eyebrows a little before lifting one up. “You could’ve just asked someone for a camera.”

“Yeah, except I couldn’t.” You chuckle, which prompts Johnny to look at you more questioningly than anything. So you explain yourself. “I didn’t want to be an inconvenience to anyone— plus, I don’t think most people would want to help a rival.”

“Well that’s just jumping to conclusions.” Despite how his words sound, he smiles. “You could borrow my camera if you’d like.”

“Johnny, there’s like a week before submissions start. I don’t even know if you have the equipments I need, or if the weather’s in my favor.” Upon your words he laughs slightly. “I know for a fact you’ve seen my astrophotography. You were looking at them last semester in the gallery,”

He then nods, just once, reassuringly. “Just look at the forecast. I wouldn’t mind.”

That had been the end point, really.

You went ahead and protested further saying you did not even know if what you wanted to appear on the photos were aligned and visible anytime soon, but Johnny had protested back saying you could just find something else to photograph; just take his camera and do something with it. When you asked him why he only told you that he liked your photography and somewhat and somehow related to it— which was a little mind boggling, considering you were not friends. Only acquaintances, and he could still compliment you and tell you something somewhat vulnerable looking into your eyes just like that and wholeheartedly, coming from his chest.

It got you thinking: maybe that was why everyone seemed to like him. He just meant things he said, and he did not really hold himself back from saying things.

He lets you use his computer to check the alignments and the forecast and the cloud formations for the upcoming days and surely enough, the day after the next the sky would be something you could work with. Not ideal, but better than nothing. “Where do you want to shoot the thing?” He asks over your shoulder, perhaps a bit too into your personal space than you are used to with an acquaintance, but it does not feel weird somehow. Probably because you know that he is not a creep that is peeping over your shoulder.

“You know the little beach at the lake?” He nods. “There.”

“Okay.” You close shut his laptop, and get ready to hand it to him, but he stops you midway. “Where do we meet?”

Wait. “We meet?”

That makes him chuckle. “Unless you want to shoot the sky in the dark all by yourself.”

In all honesty, that is what you usually do. Is it fun to do? Definitely not, because the quiet of the dark can get incredibly boring especially when you are not really seeing what you are shooting. The Milky Way was so hard to spot— it would take at least half an hour of your eyes adjusting to the dark before you could see any of it, and even then it would just be a mess of dark purple, blotchy gas with stars sprinkling over. Without any exposure and brightness it was not the most exciting thing, although it still held its magic to it.

The planets were, yes, definitely more visible than the Milky Way could ever be but again: they basically just bigger stars without proper effects. And considering the shoot usually went as setting the camera up somewhere, turning on all the necessary settings and toying with them until the view looked right enough, and leaving it for hours on end by itself and only getting up and taking stills a few times throughout the said hours; looking at and sitting under the night sky with naked eyes all alone proved to be very boring at times.

“Just give me your phone number.”

What you actually end up settling for is meeting at the lake because you realize you are living much farther from each other, at least compared to what you would have expected. You have to use different buses to be able to meet, and unless there were campers on his bus, he was also one of the only people that would take the bus to the lake at the dead of the night. Dead of the night being literally 2 AM in the morning.

When he arrives you are already there sitting on the sad excuse of what must be sand but is more of a weird mush, looking at your phone, checking the forecast last minute to make sure everything would be as what you expected throughout the night. The beach was fairly small and you were the only one there, except for the couple of abandoned beer bottles that had not been thrown away in the trash most likely out of laziness and lack of respect for the environment.

Johnny sets the camera bag down next to you before he drops down as well, setting his other bag next to him. “Hello there,” He greets you, and you mumble a greeting in return. “Getting here was so hard, why don’t you shoot at the hike trails? There’s a clearer view of the sky.”

“Mm, light pollution’s worse there. I can’t deal with that.” You still mumble and shake your head slightly, biting at your hangnail as you look at your phone. Johnny does not like that, the fact that you will not look at him and that biting a hangnail is often a nervous thing for a lot of people— it nerved him, made him think he is somehow unapproachable even though that is the last thing he would want to seem as. “Let’s set up the camera?” He suggests in hopes that it will get you moving or looking at him.

Which it does, because you lock your phone and look at him. It is a bit hard to see you in the dark, but he does not mind. “Thank you for letting me use your camera, Johnny.”

It is not what he expects. But he takes it as the reason of your seemingly nervous antic. “I forgot to thank you for it before, so.”

A smile plants itself on his face before he can even realize it. “It’s no problem. Now, come on.”

Johnny helps with setting the camera up, letting you fiddle with the lenses and the lights while he deals with the tripod and the height. He lets you walk around with the camera in your hands and waits for you to find a reasonable place where the sky can come out good and the environments can enhance the shot, and it happens to be a few feet away from where you were first sitting. He secures the tripod right then and there, and watches you deal with the settings for a good few minutes before he can catch somewhat of a smile.

Though, he knows that it will take a lot more than just a few minutes to find your ideal settings, and it does. You fiddle with the buttons and the settings, take a few test stills, go back and middle some more, bend your back and stretch since you are leaning down the whole time and it is hurting your hips a little, take a few more stills and… It takes a lot of time before you can actually start your time-lapse. Throughout all of it, he waits for you in silence.

And when you are done, he smiles at you. “All done?”

“Yeah,” The relief is both audible and visible as you breathe out. “There’s Saturn and Jupiter tonight, looks super nice. I just hope I can get good stills out of this.”

“I’m sure you’ll be able to.” He clears his throat before continuing with his words. “I brought a few snacks, if you’d like some.”

You look out at the lake a little and frown at how it is wavering a bit, presumably because it would make it harder to take stills later. He hears you huff for a short second. “Sure.”

He does not necessarily like the way your voice sounds when you are supposed to be agreeing to his suggestion, but you walk around the camera and go sit down with him next to his bag anyway. Johnny takes the snacks out only hoping you would like what he has, and takes some napkins out, thinking you would need them if anything melts in your hand and everything gets a bit sticky.

An idea strikes him then, something he had learned from his friends way back in high school when he was in yet another photography club. After handing you the snacks and a napkin, he holds out the pack of napkins again. “Take another one.”

“What for?” He shrugs and pushes his hand further to emphasize. “Just take one.”

You do, and do not think much of it because you turn to your bag and take a thermos out, taking the cap off and filling it with the liquid inside. The grey trail of steam and scent makes its way to his nose; it is coffee.

Johnny just about becomes friends with you when you hold the cap out to him. “Thought we could use this to stay awake.”

“This is a saving grace,” He chuckles, and does not hesitate to take a sip. A dark and heavy brew, the way he loves it. “Thank you. Now, do me a favor and tear one of the napkins up.”

You chuckle a bit as you take your own sip, which results in you choking up a little. “What, why?”

But Johnny does not answer that question of yours. It prompts an awkward silence, both of you sipping your coffees once more. It proves to be unbearable, though, so you end up doing what he asks of you. Even though it sounds extremely weird.

When you are done with tearing the napkin up, there are dozens of unusable pieces in your hand and it feels somewhat dusty. “What am I supposed to do now?”

He looks at your hand for a brief moment, and lets out a laugh that sounds like a puff because of the way it is stuck between his lips. His shoulders shake, although not violently. “Well,” He starts. “You’re supposed to say a truth for every piece you have, it’s kind of a game.”

Your face must have morphed into such a shocked and taken aback mimic that Johnny actually bursts into laughter this time. “I’m not telling you this many truths, the hell?” Because, in all honesty, you do not think you ever told anyone that many truths in a game before. All of the truth-and-dares combined.

Johnny does not care about that a whole lot though, so he just shrugs. “Better start telling me. You can just stop when you get bored with it, I guess.”

With a huff, you start.

At first it is just you admitting doing sets of embarrassing things in your childhood and teenage years, how you wasted two semesters in the debate club dreading absolutely every competition and club meeting since you are more of an introvert, how you are most definitely going to fall a couple of classes but it is okay since you had taken extra credits last academic year, how although loving photography you do not want to do it for a living, how the coolest thing about it would be you starting a blog that thousand of people would follow— just for your astrophotography.

After that point it turns into a mutual conversation about photography. You tell him how astrophotography never fails to be amazing even though the things in the sky never change, and how every time you take a shot it will look just like the others but so much more different which is what pulls you into it when he asks you why you do it in the first place. Johnny also asks you if you should be doing a simple sky shoot for such a competition, and you answer saying you are not really aiming for first place already; you know for a fact that while looking at the submissions, people will stop scrolling the website just to look at your shot and that is what matters. Because they will find it so interesting, even though it will be just like any other night sky shot they have seen before, and it will be so interesting because it will be something far from what they can see with their naked eyes. They will try to memorize everything about that photo before moving onto the others.

And that is what matters to you. The fact that they will pay attention means much more to you than getting first place.

He, although jokingly, calls you a true artist. It somehow feels true to you.

Then, you proceed to compliment Johnny on his astrophotography, because some of his shots are in your all time favorites. There is a way in how he lets the light spill in his shots, how he links the city and the sky together that you respect so much, and you really wonder if it is all camerawork or also a tonne of editing. “It’s mostly camerawork,” He says with a smile on his face. “I can teach you someday if you want me to.”

You take up on his offer, of course, because you can grow with every bit of knowledge— plus he was fun to be around. The conversation just seemed to flow.

The conversation seemed to flow so fluently, in fact, that you almost did not realize that the lake water was about to drag the tripod away and tumble it down if it was not for the waves hitting your shoes after the wind picked up.

Both of you made a run for the set-up, but one of you were not all that lucky to be able to make it.

Johnny slips when he runs and falls backwards on the mushy, weird mix between dirt and sand, sending you into a hysteric laughter as you hold the camera. The laughter doubles you over probably because of your sleepiness (no, the silhouette as he fell in his clumsy moment was too funny to not howl over it), but you make it a point to ask in proper etiquette. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” He stands up, laughing just as much himself. “But I’m muddy all over.”

“Just go in the water.” At that he looks at you as if you are crazy, so you argue further. “You can either be wet, or muddy. It’s up to you.”

Johnny runs into the water and properly dips in this time, sending the two of you back into your fits of laughter.

Considering lake mud is the worst type you can get stuck on your clothes, you think he does the right thing. While he cleans up, you take some more stills— not caring too much when he walks into the frame at some point while making his way back to his bag.

Well. You actually take rapid photos of him at some point because you get a potentially great idea, but you would never admit to doing that. He would learn about it if it worked your way anyway.

You wait for him to squeeze his clothes so as much of the excess water is out as possible, and do him a favor and take the set-up down all by yourself, taking the memory card and putting it into your wallet as well. The footage is way shorter than how they usually are for you, but considering it is nearing five o’clock in the morning and Johnny would be freezing if he stayed more, you decide it is whatever. Any still would do the job according to your policy.

What really proves to be hard, though, is finding a taxi for Johnny. There are at least a few of them that pass by before you can convince one to take in your ‘drunk’ friend, telling them the address Johnny had told you for the second time after deciding on this little plan for him to be able to go home. Unlike him, taking the bus back is much easier for you especially after the sky ever so slightly starts lighting up, giving you the prettiest view to watch with your headphones blasting music, craving sleep.

Both of you do not really hear from each other until the next week, with you being too busy editing the still you had chosen trying to get it to be splendid, and him simply too busy with seminars and classes and the last bit of feedback he is giving on people’s submissions. You can only text some nights, but that is about it.

That is, until he calls you less than five minutes after you send him your submission. “Why this?”

You look at the laptop in front of you and the still you have just sent him— the silhouette of Johnny and his hair being flicked, sending droplets of water everywhere; because of his tall stature perfectly on and in between the stars, capturing the purple of the sky and the silver and red and green lights of the stars, and some of them just shine like how water does. Saturn and Jupiter are at the tip of his nose, and somehow his silhouette emphasizes them. Again, somehow in this weird state of him just walking away from the frame and the weird state of his arms and overall body, everything looks merged well together.

Chaos above in the sky, and chaos just down on the ground. “Well it’s pretty, isn’t it?”

Movies and TV shows of 2019

Okay so a couple or few years ago I did a review of movies that had released that year because I was super into movies that year. I am still into movies, but I have been watching a lot more shows this year. So, I will be reviewing movies and tv shows. Furthermore, I will be including stuff released this year, that I found this year, or that has a new season this year. Basically just anything that I have loved this year. Also, I don’t feel like ranking, so no particular order. Also, SPOILERS AHEAD - if you see a title of something you have not seen, and don’t want spoilers, please feel free to skip that section. Also, some of these I haven’t seen in a hot minute so if I get a detail messed up, we won’t speak on it. And finally, trigger warning - if you have struggled with sexual assault and may have an issue reading about it, either skip this post entirely or skip over the review of “Unbelievable.”

MOVIES -

1. After

I have been waiting for this since middle school. I read the after books on wattpad because what teenager in love with harry styles didn’t. Now I will be real with y'all. The acting could use some work in specific scenes, and some of the actors aren't MY favorite picks for certain roles, but I’m not gonna hate on actors. Ok so, Tessa (Josephine Langford) is an incoming freshman in college and is rooming with an upperclassmen, Steph (Khadijha Red Thunder) who has a friend named Hardin (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin). Steph wants Tessa to branch out and do new things, so she invites her to a party, where they play the stereotypical games, and thats when Hardin is kind of dared to make Tessa fall in love with him. ALSO, Tessa has a high school boyfriend named Noah (Dylan Arnold). She starts seeing Hardin, her boyfriend finds out, she falls in love with Hardin, and finds out it was all a dare. Buuuuuuut, pLoT tWiSt he actually loves her.

2. Avengers: Endgame

Ok listen, Infinity War was heartbreaking bc Bucky duh, but y'all are really gonna take Tony (RDJ) and Steve (Chris Evans) away from me? Shut up. Still, this was a really good movie and I’m not just saying that because I’m a marvel hoe. FRICK Thanos and thats on Ant Man. Thats literally all I have to say.

3. Annabelle Comes Home

I am a whore for scary movies. I love them so much and this one was *chefs kiss*. I love Mckenna Grace, she's such a good young actress and she fits so well in scary moves. There’s not much to say about the plot in this one, and ya really need to see it. Also, Bob (Michael Cimino) is so heckin cute what the heck.

4. Let It Snow

Ok this is a lot to unpack so grab ya snacks. Let’s talk about couple number 1 (of 3), Tobin (Mitchell Hope) and Angie (Kiernan Shipka) who are best friends. Tobin is in love with Angie but doesn’t know how to tell her, and gets lots of unwanted encouragement from his best friend Keon (Jacob Batalon) who just wants to throw a heckin good party, is that too much to ask for? So Angie gets invited to a party by some cute guy, JP (M and Tobin is jealous but goes with her anyways and they steal a keg for Keon’s party and run from the scary hosts of the party and end up stranded in a church after his car spins out of control. They finally make it to the party and kiss on the roof with the waffle town sign shining bright behind them. NEXT - we have Julie (Isabela Merced) and Stuart (Shameik Moore). This is kind of really cliche with the whole “he’s-famous-she-doesn’t-care-he-finds-that-attractive-lets-fall-in-love” aspect, but its also hella cute uwu. They meet on a train and the train stops so they go eat at the waffle town and go sledding and do a bunch of cute coupley shit. His manager comes to get him and basically tells her that nothing will ever really happen between them and he leaves. Then, he shows up at the party and they fall in love. NEXT- we have Dorrie (Liv Hewson) who is a lesbian that constantly struggles with the gay panic. Her best friend Addie (Odeya Rush) doesn't help much either because she's having her own relationship problems. Dorrie works at Waffle Town and when she's working the girl she's talking to, Kerry (Anna Akana) comes in with her dance team, and she's not out of the closet. A bunch of shit goes down, but they end up together and Dorrie learns that she’s worth more than she thinks and that’s all that matters. Also, Billy (Miles Robbins) and Tin Foil Woman (Joan Cusack) make wonderful additions to this movie.

5. The King

First of all - Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson in the same movie? Sign me the HECK up. But they’re also historical, frick yea. Not too much to say about this movie other than it’s good. Super graphic (don’t watch if you don’t like decapitation lol) and super long, but good nonetheless.

6. Falling Inn Love

This movie is super freaking cute. Gabriela (Christina Milian) decides that she needs a change and enters a contest to win an Inn in New Zealand. She wins the Inn and is shocked when she realizes the Inn needs a LOT of work. She goes around town to get stuff to fix up the Inn and constantly runs into Jake (Adam Demos) and they have this flirty but we don’t like each other relationship, but then ya know, they fall in(n) love.

SHOWS -

1. The Society

I could talk about this show for hours, literally. I love it so much it’s insane. Ok, so lets start from the beginning. A town called West Ham is being plagued by a disgusting smell. Due to this, the town decides to send busloads of teenagers to the mountains while they try and resolve the smell situation. All of the teenagers fall asleep on the bus and wake up to the announcement that they had to go back home due to road blocks. When they get off the buses, its late and no one is there to pick them up. They think that it may just be a sense of miscommunication, so they head home, only to find that none of their families are there, and they can’t get ahold of any of them over the phone. They finally decide to investigate and find that all exits out of town are completely blocked off. They then decide to find a way to survive without their families. This causes a lot of tension within the town including the death of a main character. This shows also includes gay representation!!!! This is my favorite couple, Sam (Sean Birdy) and Grizz (Jack Mulhern). Sam is deaf and gay and his brother, Campbell (Toby Wallace), makes fun of him for both reasons, and when the whole issue with the town happens, he believes he will never find love because he doesn’t think anyone else is gay, until Grizz comes along, and tries to learn ASL and loves him for him.

2. Roswell New Mexico

Alright, to be completely honest, I did not want to watch this. I have no idea why I just didn’t. I saw an edit on like instagram or something of the couples in the show and I was like, alright I can give it a chance. And spoiler alert I loved it. The series starts off with Liz Ortecho (Jeanine Mason) comes back to her hometown of Roswell around the time of her the anniversary of her sister, Rosa’s (Amber Midthunder), death. She gets pulled over on her way in and the officer that pulled her over was Max Evans (Nathan Parsons), who has had a crush on her since they first met, and just so happens to be an alien. After Liz gets shot in her families restaurant, Max uses his healing powers to save her, but leaves behind a hand print on her that makes her suspicious. She continues to investigate until he tells her the truth. She also finds out that her sister was actually murdered, and has the same hand print on her that she did when Max healed her. Turns out, his sister, Isobel (Lily Cowels) killed her, but it was actually another alien possessing her (which they didn’t know was possible when she killed her). When they landed on earth they also landed with their “brother” Michael (Michael Vlamis) who starts off the series with an on and off relationship with Alex (Tyler Blackburn) and I love them together. Alex is the son of one of the guys trying to find and take down the aliens and he also went to war and lost his leg. Anyways, towards the end of the season Alex starts seeing Maria (Heather Hemmens), which is a couple I don’t really like, but also bi representation is good! Anyways I don’t really wanna spoil this one too much I just love it a lot.

3. Elite

This is a show that came out in 2018, but they released a second season this year. All I’m saying is please watch the original version, not the dubbed over version. Elite is a spanish show about a few students that get a scholarship to the private school after their school gets demolished. This shows is in the fashion of present and past which includes a lot of flashbacks leading up to the the murder of one of the students. My favorite part of this show is the relationship between Ander (Arón Piper) and Omar (Omar Ayuso). Ander is the son of the head of the school and Omar is the brother of one of the students that got a scholarship. Not only are they of different socioeconomic status’, but Omar is also Muslim, and his family would not approve of him being gay. He finally finds the courage to tell his family, but thats not until season 2. Also, his sister Nadia (Mina El Hammani) falls in love with the “bad boy” of the school, Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau) and starts going against her parents wishes as well.

4. The Umbrella Academy

Y’all mind if I confuse y'all real quick. So, a bunch of women all of the sudden give birth out of nowhere at the same time even tho none of them were pregnant? Yea I know weird. Anyways, so this dude tries to adopt as many of them as possible and ends up adopting like 7. They all have powers and they try and stop the apocalypse. That’s literally all I can tell y'all.

5. Unbelievable

I swear I didn’t mean to get y’all upset right now. This show made me angry and sad and so many other feelings all at once. So the show beings with a girl named Marie (Kaitlyn Dever) getting raped in her home. When she reports it, they can’t find any evidence, as he cleaned the apartment and made her shower. This mixed with the fact that she struggles remembering parts of her experience (which is common with sexual assault), the police don’t believe her and force her to retract her statement. This in itself is awful, but they also charge her with false statement, which adds on to the fact that people already believe that she is a liar. Years later, two female detectives, Karen and Grace, piece together rapes in their precincts and once they find the rapist, they find Marie’s picture in with his belongings, proving that she was telling the truth the entire time.

6. Sailor Moon

I just got into anime and all I have to say is that I love this. That is all.

Second Chapter

Requested? no bc y’all stay sleeping on my mans but anyways

The air is cold and frigid, causing you to zip up your bright yellow fleece jacket. You regret not bringing your coat, which you had left in your locker because you honestly didn't think you'd need to wear one indoors but you didn't account for the chill of the breeze outside to seep through the cracks of the classroom windows.

You clamp your teeth shut in an attempt to prevent them from chattering as you jot down the notes from the PowerPoint on the board. Normally, you'd be way too invested in the lesson to even notice the temperature but you were doing a dissection tomorrow so you had to learn all about the body parts of pigs. Pigs. As if the anatomy of pigs wasn't straight forward enough.

Finally, the lesson neared its end and your anatomy teacher, Mrs. Brookes, clicks off the PowerPoint and you cram your notes into your overflowing folder.

"I've got an announcement, everyone," calls Mrs. Brookes.

The class halts their movements to hear her speak.

"The end of the semester is here and that means finals and all that."

The classroom groans in unison.

"Yes, yes I know! Boo, finals. But! With finals comes the new semester and that means college applications will be due! So, if anyone wants to get a head start on teacher recommendations—"

Your eyes snap across the room to peer at a “certain someone” only to find he was already glaring at you. Huang Renjun was the top of your class—always has been and probably always will be. Unfortunately, that made you second at everything which was unbelievably insufferable. You were smart, always did your work and gave 100% to everything you did but so did he. And he was always just a little bit better—just a little bit smarter than you and it made your blood boil.

You knew your destiny was to be a judge since you were three years old. You dreamt of wearing the flowy black gown and holding that beautiful wooden gabble as the whole courtroom looked to you, knowing the power you held. You wanted to be the best judge there ever was--a fair judge who brought justice to everyone and you had the perfect plan to do it. You would attend Oxford, get your degree in law, be a lawyer for a few years, five or six maximum and go from there. The only problem with that was that Oxford chose only one student from your school every year for their full-ride scholarship and it just so happened that the student at the top of your class wanted to go there too.

To put the cherry on top, Renjun also hated your guts. He made your life a living hell and often times he’d go out of his way to do so. You can’t remember when the spiteful behavior began but it had been so long it was comfortable. Sometime in middle school he’d had his sight set on you and you haven’t had a peaceful day since.

You shake away your disgruntled thoughts, bringing your attention back to Mrs. Brookes.

"I'd be glad to help out!" Mrs. Brookes smiles. "It would be nice to start now so I won't have to write one-hundred-thirty-two letters at once."

The classroom fills with whispers before Mrs. Brookes quiets them once more. "Also, as you all know, we have a lab tomorrow so go ahead and pick your partners, quickly!"

You sigh, pressing your lips together as your eyes flicker back to Renjun who nodded his head in confirmation of what you already knew. Although the two of you couldn't stand each other, you always worked together to ensure you got the highest grade. This way, you didn't have to deal with lazy partners or someone who just didn't have the intellect to keep up with you.

By lunchtime, you’re practically starving, having skipped breakfast because you overslept. Again.

You purchase a salad, stuffing a fork full of lettuce in your mouth as you set up a small foldable table in the center of the cafeteria. You were in a numerous amount of clubs, one of them being the Red Cross Club, which was currently donating blood to hospital, and you were the first one to volunteer to man the sign-up table.

You managed to get a few sign-ups before people stopped passing by and you quickly get bored. You suck through the straw of your milk carton, unlocking your phone to see you had four unopened messages.

Sadie [11:36]: Heyyyyy girrrrrrl Sadie [11:36]: guess who's coming home? It's me lmao Sadie [11:37]: did you hear about the fire? Some dumb ass freshman burned down the ENTIRE chemistry building so they're letting us out on winter break early for remodeling Sadie [11:38]: can't wait to see you! We've got so much to catch up on about Jodie ;)

You roll your eyes shoving your phone back into your pocket. There was a point in time when you and your sister were practically joint at the hip, always together no matter what. Secret handshakes, your own made-up languages and all that, but it wasn't like that anymore. You weren't exactly sure when the rift began but you were very much aware of it now. The only person who seemed to not notice was Sadie. The last thing you wanted to do was be stuck in the same house with her for who knows how long, let alone talk about her idiot of a boyfriend, Jodie.

A deep bellow and a loud guffaw drags you out of your thoughts as your eyes follow the source of the sound. Lee Jeno was doubled over in laughter, as were the rest of his friends, slamming his fist down on the table as everyone around him erupted into applause. You hate people who clapped when they laughed. You also hate people who obnoxiously drew attention to themselves in public but you couldn't stop your heart from swooning while watching him do those very things. There wasn't a shortage of good looking boys at your school but none of them ever had the effect that Jeno did on you. It's not that you have a crush on him—not even close. He was just so damn dreamy. You’ve had your fair share of interactions with Jeno, him being Renjun’s best friend and a member of two of the clubs you were in. He was in student council just like you but instead of being the useless treasurer, he was the Vice President (and of course Renjun was class president) and the best soccer goalie the school's had in...well, ever. It was the combination of his good looks, you think, and intelligence that was so attractive to you.

You had certain rules that you set for yourself to ensure your high school career went perfectly. Although it was kind of corny, it worked for you. You had a plan and you were going to succeed.

Rule number one: no parties.

Rule number two: no drinking.

And most importantly, rule number three: no dating.

Having a boyfriend would be a huge distraction and you couldn't risk your future on some relationship that wouldn't last past graduation but sometimes you couldn't help wishing you hadn't made the rule for the sake of Jeno's existence.

You made a sour face at the group of boys, shivering when you feel a pair of eyes burning a hole in your head. You glance over two seats from Jeno to find Renjun inspecting you with an unreadable expression. You stare back for a moment before looking away, a look of displeasure evident on your face. You were quite thoroughly creeped out. Geez, were you in some kind of movie or something? You were competing against each other but you weren't arch enemies or anything like that.

When the final bell rang at the end of the day, everyone rushed off to get on the big yellow buses and go home. You rarely hardly ever rode the bus, having too many extra-curricular activities after school and just outright preferring to walk in the mornings. Mondays and Wednesdays you had mock-trial club, STEM and chess club were both on Tuesdays, and book club and Red Cross were every other Thursday before school. On top of all that, you were captain of the varsity volleyball team. A large part of you only wanted to join because you thought the uniforms were cute but you also needed a sport to put on your college application.

Today is Wednesday and you were on your way to Mr. Koffee's class for mock trial. Mr. Koffee wasn't the most interesting person in the world but you always looked forward to his club meetings the most out of all your other extra-curriculars. It was mostly because it was the closest thing to being a real lawyer you'll have for a long while.

By the time you make it to the classroom, all the seats were taken except for the one right next to Jeno so you quickly cease it, receiving cold looks from your female peers. You shrug it off, not really paying them any attention. If there was another seat you would've taken it but seeing as there were more people there today than usual you had no choice. Renjun sat behind you typing away at his phone, ignoring your presence as usual.

Mr. Koffee strides into the room, closing the door behind him. The students shift their attention to him as he stands in front of his desk, arms folded.

"Well isn't this a surprise. Everyone decided to show up today."

The class laughs but you could tell by his expression it wasn't meant to be a joke.

"Quiet down, everyone," he begins. "We've got some major trials next year against some big schools and I have no doubt we'll win them all but I'd still like us to be prepared. I think our performance level would greatly benefit if you were able to do a trial without me involved so I'm stepping down from my role as Chief Justice."

Your ears perk up at this. You often alternate between being the defending attorney and a juror but neither role satisfied you in the way you knew being the judge would. You struggle to hold in your giddiness as the teacher continues.

"I'll be choosing the best-fit person to play Chief Justice sometime between now and next week if anyone's interested."

"Mr. Koffee," you call out, raising your hand. " I don't think it will be too hard to decide considering I'm the obvious choice."

Jeno snickers at your words and Renjun scoffs.

"Suddenly, I think I want to be the judge." Renjun muses, his finger tapping his lips lightly.

You withhold the urge to hit him on the back of his stupid, round head.

"Mr. Koffee, I'd like to be judge, too!"

Your neck almost snaps at how quickly you turn your head to gawk at him. "What do you think you're doing?"

Renjun's lips twist into a lopsided smirk. "What do you mean? I’m taking my role of chief justice, obviously."

You glower at him. "You are such a--"

"__!" Mr. Koffee scolds.

You mumble an apology but your eyes never leave Renjun's. He must really get a kick out of making your life a living hell, didn't he? He wanted to be a lawyer when he graduates so why on Earth was he volunteering, knowing damn well how badly you wanted this? He already had everything he wanted and he was probably going to get the scholarship at Oxford anyways—what more did he want? Why did he still take things away from you when you never had a chance in the first place?

"Like I said," Mr. Koffee continues. "I'll come to a decision at the end of next week. Moving on," he begins pacing across the front. "The school carnival is in two weeks and I registered the club on the list to have a booth. Are there any volunteer—"

"Me!" You and Renjun shout at the same time. You both cast glances at each other before looking back at the teacher to hear his decision. Volunteering to run the booth wasn't the best idea. You already had enough on your plate as is but you knew you would have a better chance of being chosen if you did this and so did Renjun which was why he couldn't let you do that.

"Okay, Perfect. You two will run the booth for the carnival," he announces, clasping his hands together.

You gape at him, horrified. Now, what have you gotten yourself into? You glimpse at Renjun who's expression was not too far off from yours. Jeno cracks up in his chair, his shoulders shaking in laughter, clearly enjoying this.

"Oh this is gonna be good," he giggles.

"I needed two people but I thought no one would volunteer," Mr. Koffee explains, his lips almost curving into a smile for once. "Now let's move on to our next case, shall we?"

The drive home is dull. You pick at your chipping nail polish as your mom blabs on and on about Sadie. Her words go through one ear and out of the other, her voice drowning into the hum of the engine and the wind flowing in through the window. Your thoughts are filled with Renjun and murdering him in cold blood. This was something you could never forgive him for.

Your mom parks the car in the garage, and you grab your bookbag as you wait for her to unlock the door. The weather only seemed to get colder and colder and it only worsened your mood. With the all your school work and club activities, you were sure the added on stress from Sadie coming home months early would be your end. You could see it on the news now, Young Teen Found Dead With Premature Wrinkles And a Notebook Full of Plans for Murder.

The house was warm and welcoming compared to the harsh temperatures outside. You remove your shoes and jacket and scurry up the stairs before your mom could talk your ear off some more about your sister.

You plop down on your bed, crawling under your honey yellow duvet, finding an escape from the world for a moment. Every now and then, when life just felt like it was a little too much, you’d hide under your covers like a child. You’ve been doing this a lot lately, taking refuge in the safety of your covers when Renjun had done something to ruin your day. Just three days ago, you were in this very same spot after Renjun tripped you in front of everybody during second period. It took a lot to embarrass you and because everyone saw him trip you, that didn't bother you much. It was the bruise on your elbow you got trying to break your fall that pissed you off. It was the fact that he got away with tripping you in front of so many eyes and yet, he didn’t get in trouble. He never did. He was the perfect model student. The class president could never do any wrong.

You weren't sure how much time had passed while you were under there but you figure you ought to start on your math homework so you could finish your English paper early.

After a few hours, your parents call you down for dinner. Your dad had just got home, setting the table in his work clothes. Your parents invested themselves in a conversation of the weather which inevitably turned into a bubbly discussion about Sadie. Expecting this, you eat as quickly as possible trying to flee back to your room. Surprisingly, you're able to leave with ease, your parents too excited about Sadie's arrival to notice you leaving the table early.

You're shocked awake by a heavy object thrown on top of you. Your eyes pop open, your heart thudding in your chest as you notice the familiar mop of hair splayed across your face. The high-pitched squeal only confirmed who the culprit was.

"Sadie?" you whine, groggily.

She lifts her head up, but not enough to remove her hair off of your face.

"Missed me?"

"Not really," you try to push her off which only resulted in her squeezing you tighter.

"There's that sense of humor I missed so much."

You roll your eyes. I wasn't joking, you wanted to say but you bite your tongue.

"Why'd you wake me up? I already have to get up early enough for school."

Sadie finally sits up, her lips pursed. "Oh? But doesn't school start in like twenty minutes?"

"WHAT?!?" you glance at your alarm clock and she was right. You must've forgotten to set your alarm last night. You sigh throwing your legs over the edge of the mattress.

"If you need a ride I can drive you," Sadie offers.

You stare straight ahead at the yellow walls in front of you. Suddenly, you regret choosing such a bright and happy color for your room theme when oftentimes you felt anything but happy. It was your favorite color at the time and it still is today but you were starting to get sick of it. It felt as if your room was mocking you. Even your bedroom was happier than you.

"No thanks," you say, getting up and rushing to get dressed.

Sadie sighs but thankfully leaves you alone. When you go to the kitchen to grab your breakfast, you're surprised to see a feaast large enough to feed a vilage instead of your usual bagel and banana.

"What's all this? And where's mom?" you ask, running out of the kitchen.

Your father looks at you briefly before his eyes go back to the thick novel he was holding. "She's out running errands. We have to celebrate Sadie coming home, dear."

Sadie smiles, patting the chair next to her.

You frown. "Yeah, well, I'm already late so I'm gonna head out."

"Young lady!” your father barks, stopping you dead in your tracks. “Just where do you think you're going? Your mom wanted us all to eat together and that's what we're going to do. You'll have enough time to eat if Sadie drives you--now how does that sound Sadie?"

"That's okay with me," she chirps.

"What's the use of eating 'all together' if mom's not even here?" you exasperate, air quoting with your fingers.

"I will not allow you to waste the good food your mother worked so hard to make for the whole family, now sit down and enjoy your breakfast with your sister," he says, returning back to his book.

You sigh in resignation, taking the seat next to Sadie, who claps her hands excitedly.

You do your best to say as little as possible to Sadie, only giving her a 'yes' or 'no' when she asked a question. When you arrive at school, you hopped out of the car without saying goodbye, which you would regret all too soon because she decides to wish you good luck in the loudest voice she could muster. You pull your hood up when everyone stares at you, having recognized your sister immediately. People start to crowd around her car greeting her like she was a celebrity or something and you grit your teeth, stalking into the building.

This was exactly why you didn't want her to drive you to school. Not only were you second best at school but at home as well. Everyone loves Sadie. She’s pretty, smart and fun and, well, she was the complete opposite of you. She never turned down the opportunity to have a good time and somehow still managed to pass her classes with ease. Even having graduated high school two years ago, she was still as popular as ever, her existence leaving a permanent imprint on the school. Even the freshman knew your sister's name.

You re-adjust your headband as you enter Mrs. Brookes' class, feeling somewhat relieved you weren't late. Your table was occupied by a large animal that looked like roadkill and on top of that, the awful chemical smell burned your nostrils. You gag as you drop your items to the ground. Renjun's book bag slams into the chair next to you causing you to jump out of your skin.

His lips slant into a smirk as he examines your appearance. "Why're your clothes all wrinkly?"

You looked down at your uniform, noticing its creased state for the first time this morning. You could just add ironing along to the list of things you forgot to do last night.

You send him a dirty look as you smooth your skirt down with your hands. You were still mad at him for yesterday and would rather cut your left leg off than to work with him today but you already told Mrs. Brookes you were partners and you knew she wouldn't let you change partners last minute.

The bell rings and Mrs. Brookes goes over the lab rules, passing out your assignment. You and Renjun put your gloves on as instructed, deciding to split the work in half, you doing the front of the paper and him the back. You made an incision at the stomach, charting the intestines on your worksheet. You look up to check on Renjun's progress to see him poking at the swine with a shaky hand, his face a ghastly pale. You almost laugh out loud. Maybe today wasn't such a bad day after all. Renjun had a weakness?

You snatch the scalpel from him, slitting the pig's neck open and he flinches.

"Is that so hard?" you ask, handing him the blade back.

Renjun swallows as he takes the tweezers and pauses to re-read the directions for an unnecessary amount of time. You let out an impatient sigh and Renjun finally puts the paper down and inserts the tweezers into the pig, searching for an artery with his body as far away from the animal as he could manage. When he let out a girlish yelp, you decide you’ve had enough, slamming down your scalpel.

"Give me that," you snap.

Renjun hands you the tweezers with no hesitation, stepping a safe few steps away from the table.

"Look, I'll do all the physical work and you just write the answers down okay?"

"O-okay," he nods, his face was now a dangerous shade of green. For a millisecond, you feel bad for him but then you remember how much of a complete jerk he is.

Renjun is mostly silent as you do all the hard work and he copies the answers onto the worksheets. You don’t tease anymore for the sake of keeping him from hurling in front of you.

If you thought Anatomy class was weird then lunch was double weird. When you arrive at the sign-up table, there’s someone sitting in the seat next to yours--which was supposed to be empty last time you checked--and of course, it wasn't just anybody--no, that would be too easy. Haven Geller, Renjun's ex-girlfriend, of all people was sitting in the chair next to yours, dill-dallying with her hair as if she doesn’t see you standing in front of her.

You simply shake your head and sit down. "I thought I was the only one doing sign-ups today."

Haven feigns just noticing your presence. "Oh! Hey, y/n, didn't see you there."

You scowl but say nothing. This wasn't your first meeting with Haven. She was on the volleyball team with you and as you were team captain, you've had your fair share of hiccups with Haven. She wasn't a bad person per se, although you didn't know her very well, you could assume she could be honorable when needed. It was her attitude that you really had a problem with. She never followed instructions and she never went to class. It was this kind of behavior that almost got her kicked off the team several times and she always acted like she didn't care. It was mind baffling that Haven and Renjun we're together so long. You wouldn't have imagined they'd get together at all, them being polar opposites and all.

"I talked to the teacher about it and," she pauses to pop a bubble with her chewing gum, "she said I could help out. I need more volunteer hours to put on my application, you know?"

You nod your head in understanding, chomping on your celery as Renjun and Jeno approach you, lunch trays in hand. Haven straitens up in her chair, smiling at the boys.

"Hey, __. You wanna sit with us today?" Renjun asks.

Haven is just as surprised as you, if not more at the question directed towards you.

"We need to start planning out how we're gonna do the booth for the fair." he continues.

You look skeptical. Didn't he know that only people who are friends sit together at lunch? And you most certainly were not friends with Renjun.

"Yeah, I think I'll pass," you decline, taking another bite of your celery.

Jeno smiles at you and you looked away, your face heating up.

"Look, I'm sorry alright? I know I shouldn't have volunteered to be the judge and I know I shouldn't have volunteered to do the booth and I apologize. Please? Come sit at our table."

Your face is stoic as you mull over his words. Renjun never apologized for anything because he was never sorry. You were seeing a lot of firsts for Renjun today. There was a silence between all of you before Haven took the opportunity to greet Renjun.

"Hey, Junie! It's nice to see you," she chirps.

Renjun nods at her before turning back to look at you.

You looked back in forth between them, weirded out by the odd exchange. Did they get back together? You didn't keep tabs on Renjun's love life, it was more so his academics that you were more interested in but the last time you saw them together was before school ended last semester.

Jeno steps forward, drawing your attention. "Hey, so, I'm throwing a victory party at my place this Friday by the way. You should come."

Your eyes widen. "Me?"

"Her?" Renjun asks, equally exasperated.

Jeno wrapped an arm around Renjun's shoulder, jostling him a little. "What do 'ya say?"

No.

"I'll think about it," you say and you're shocked by your own response. You should've been upfront about it but you found it hard to say no to Jeno. It was against your rules after all--and besides you wouldn’t even know how to behave at a party. You had nothing to wear either. Even if you wanted to, you couldn't go.

“Isn’t a little premature to schedule a party before you’ve even won the game?” you inquire.

“Not if I know we’re gonna win it’s not.”

Renjun blinks, shaking his head. "Erm, anyway--are you gonna sit with us or not?"

"You can go," Haven says, smiling at you. "I'll hold down the fort."

You still feel unsure but Renjun was grabbing your book bag and food before you could protest her offer. "W-well okay, thanks, Haven."

"No problem!" she exclaims, grinning, although it doesn't reach her eyes.

Sitting at Renjun's table has to be one of the strangest experiences you’ve ever had. Everyone was so loud and rowdy and on top of that, they were all staring at you. You feel so out of place and Jeno, sensing your discomfort, introduces you to everyone. The ones sitting directly across you though, Haechan and Jaemin, seem to stick out the most to you.

You and Renjun exchange a few ideas for the booth, eventually agreeing on a courtroom theme.

"You guys are like two Einsteins," Jeno jokes.

"Yeah, except __ is smarter," Haechan chuckles.

"And way prettier," Jeno adds.

Your cheeks tinge a baby pink as you deny the boys' words.

"Can you guys shut up? We're a little busy here," Renjun grumbles as he scribbles messily in his notebook.

"But it's true. __’s gorgeous."

Renjun just rolls his eyes bringing the conversation back to the booth. After a few minutes of Jeno throwing endless compliments your way, Renjun looked like he was quite literally about to pop.

"Jeno--for Christ's sake! Can you not flirt with my lab partner?? We're working here!"

"Lab partner? You’re not even doing science, man,” he snickers. “And isn't the school fair not for another two weeks?" Jeno counters with an innocent smile.

You could've sworn you saw Renjun's eye twitch as Haechan and Jaemin burst into laughter.

"Bro, how many times do we have to tell you to relax?" Jaemin snorts, reaching over the table to touch his shoulder.

"Yeah," Jeno says, propping an elbow on the table. "It's not like you're being graded on this anyways."

Renjun groans, throwing his head in his hands.

"Maybe that's true but I'd prefer to not half-ass this, considering what's at stake," you chime in, feeling the need to defend him.

Renjun peeks in between his fingers at your words.

"And what's at stake?" he asks.

"Things you wouldn't understand, Jeno."

Jaemin cackles and Haechan covers his mouth, ‘ooh’ing at your response.

"Oh yeah?" Jeno raises an eyebrow. "Try me."

"Maybe another time," you say, grabbing your bag. "I'll see you after school, Renjun."

The bell rings just as you get up and you push past the doors, not looking back.

After the last bell rings, you squeeze through the sea of people down to the track field. Students shove passed you, brushing your shoulder as they run to get to their buses in time. Your eyes water as the harsh wind blows against you and you stuff your freezing hands into the pockets of your padded coat. Despite the cold weather, the track team was getting ready for practice and you thank the heavens you played an indoor sport.

There’s two other people preparing their booths and you were glad you and Renjun weren't the only ones starting early. You pick out the least disgusting table and pull it up on its legs. Dust flies everywhere and you swat at the air vengefully. You look at the time on your watch. Renjun is late.

You wipe off the table with an old dirty rag and sit on it, refusing to do any more work on your own. When Renjun finally shows up, it’s fifteen minutes later and he’s carrying a black metal box and a bucket full of spray paint.

"Look who decided to show up," you place a hand on your hip.

Renjun gives you a pointed look. "I had to go get all the supplies."

"I didn't know it took so long to get a few cans of paint," you mutter, dusting off the back of your jeans.

It's not like you had all day to do this. You had homework to do! Papers to write!

"__, can you maybe not be so uptight for once? It's not like I took my time to get here, I walked as fast as I could."

"Uptight?" You repeat. "I'm not the one who was freaking out at lunch today over a school fair booth, if I remember correctly. And your friends are trash by the way."

Renjun slams the metal box on the table. "Don't talk about my friends. You don't know them and you don't know me, so mind your own damn business," he snarls.

For a moment all you see is red. Renjun is such an ass. This is the last straw. You can’t take his insults any more. After all he’s put you through, especially after yesterday’s antics, he had the nerve to talk to you like that?

"I don't know you?” you hiss. “We've had the same classes together since junior high, idiot. I know that you carry around two packs of number two pencils for no logical reason and I know that your bookbag looks like it was a filing cabinet in its past life. Hell, I wish I didn't know you, that's for sure, because then I wouldn't be out here in the freezing cold building a stupid booth with the likes of you!"

You hadn’t intended to say those words out loud but you couldn't deny how good it felt to say it. Maybe you were a bit harsh but who cares? He's said way worse to you countless times.

Renjun stands there staring at you for a beat, his fists clenched into a tight ball before he storms off, snatching his book bag and dragging it on the ground behind him.

"Where do you think you're going?" you call after him. "What about the booth?!"

You watch with your mouth hanging open as Renjun kept walking until his figure becomes too small to see. Who knew he could be so sensitive? You assumed he would just brush off your words as he always did but it seems you struck a chord.

You chew your bottom lip as you angrily stare at the table. No matter what Renjun could’ve said to you, you wouldn't leave him to do all the work on his own.

You curse under your breath as you grab a can of spray paint, shaking it with force. You stayed after school for a reason and you were going to do what you came to do, with or without Renjun.

hi i’m back and it’s bc i had a ~fight with my sister and it’s bothering me and i have no one to talk about it but i still wanted to try and make better sense of it or just to let it out and then i remembered i had this here so here i am

okay so one thing that bothers me a lot is that my sister is always bugging me about how i barely ever clean the house but the things is I Work. I wake up at 5am every single day and it tires me the fuck out. and while i do this she’s at home all day doing nothing. so why does she think she’s in the right to judge me? it really pisses me off, like REALLY. i do not have the patience to justify myself, i just lash out. cause really. imagine being pressured by someone who stayed home all day looking at the ceiling while you were out there being squished on 4 buses and having to scream for your students to listen to you. i’m too exhausted to deal with this shit.

and on top of this i have to take care of my cats every day and like i’ve said they don’t live with me so i have to leave my house to go there and change their water, give them food, clean their litter boxes and sweep the floor and i hate how robotic this feels bc i barely have time to really spend and interact with them. and it’s tiring. it’s so tiring.

so yeah. yesterday me and my mom split a pizza and when we arrived i mentioned that my sister could’ve washed the dishes while we were out (at the cats) and she got all mad bc she had already washed the bathroom and then she said that i could’ve done that bc earlier (before i left for the cats) i was just lounging on the sofa and i got super mad bc that was when i had just arrived from work so yeah i was on the sofa bc why the fuck would i not rest after such an exhausting fucking journey when i’d have to leave soon to go to the cats? and i guess it just piled up yk all these times that she pointed out i’m not doing something when in fact i’m resting from all that i had just done and that she did not witness so i lashed out again and told her since she thinks i do nothing then she shouldn’t eat the pizza that i bought with the money from my hardwork. and truth is if i had woken up and seen that she had eaten the pizza i wouldn’t have actually minded it but she didn’t eat it and i kinda feel bad. because i don’t want it to seem that i’m bragging about it being my money or anything. i’m really not like that. i don’t mind spending money on her nor do i expect anything in return. except for respect lol. i just want her to stop telling me i do nothing when i’m so tired from all that i do because it drives me crazy. and i know that i could just tell her that but i do not have the emotional control or intelligence to do so eloquently, but i have said it before in whatever way i could. i even stopped talking to her for a while because of that so i don’t know what else i have to do in order to validate this boundary i’m trying to create.

i think this is it. i kinda wanna apologize but i also don’t. i just... i know i’m so flawed but i don’t wanna be a shitty person. and i know that regardless of my motives or intentions, it’s what i come across as that really matters. :/

it’s been a while! a lot has happened since i last wrote and i’ve been really busy but now i’ve finally had some time to relax. i feel like i always talk about school stuff with everyone (i can’t help it though, it’s such a big part of my life right now and occupies a lot of space in my mind hehe oops) so today i’m going to write about something that isn’t related to school at all...

i’d really need a trip somewhere right now!!! i love to travel and explore new places but all my plans for this years are kinda cancelled... i had to go on a trip with my friend next week but the corona cases have started to increase again, so we decided to cancel it for the sake of staying safe n healthy... so since i can’t go anywhere right now, i’m going to satisfy (or possibly worsen) my wanderlust by describing my dream trip in this post :) actually i would love any kind of trip as long as it’s with good company but here’s just one that i think would be perfect:

1. DEPARTURE: it would be a trip to a fairly big city in another country with someone/some people for around a week and we would take a plane !! if we’d fly somewhere near, it would be an early morning flight; if it was far away, it would be a late night flight (time just feels different in early morning and late night lolol)

2. ON THE PLANE: fooling around on the plane, taking lots of pics from above the clouds, seeing the sun rise, maybe sleeping a bit, watching a movie if it’s at night ~

3. ARRIVAL: if we left in the morning, we’d be there at around noon. we would go to the hotel from the airport and leave our stuff there and after that, we would go eat some lunch and stroll around the city while taking pics! (actually now that i think about it an apartment would be nice too lol you could cook your own breakfast in the morning uwu) if it was an overnight flight, we would arrive in the morning and also go to the hotel/apartment from the airport, wash up a bit etc. and go eat breakfast wooooo and since long flights are exhausting, the first day would be kinda chill and we would just spend time in the city

4. THE ACTUAL TRIP: so now that we’re in our destination, we would check out the cool places in the city. for me, that would mean the most famous tourist attractions because it’s cool to finally see them in real life but also the hidden gems and go to places where there are more locals. i prefer city trips and cultural/historical sights as well as trendy & modern places over just shopping or being on the beach every day/staying in a hotel full of tourists. so i’d like to really see the city, visit places and experience the culture instead of just staying at one place

i love using public transport bc it gives me a feel of the city and i don’t know if this sounds weird but i like to people watch?? people who walk by and dwell in their thoughts, people who are going to work busily or coming from work, students going to/coming from school, a mom and/or a dad with a child/children enjoying their day, a young couple holding hands, an old couple walking together, a group of friends laughing at something... so i would definitely take the chance to use the metro or the buses in the city !! or biking would be nice too if the city is suitable for it hehe and of course nothing beats walking around and stopping in front of every cool-looking place ~~

also it would be nice to take the train or rent a car to some place that is out of the city or to another city/town in the country! i love trains and road trips so woooo i would love to include one or why not both in my trip haha (though we would maybe need more than a week now that i think about it hahah i don’t like to be too pressured or have a tight schedule when on holidays so ~~) and if the city is near to the sea i would love to go to the beach!!!

and as the foodie that i am, we would taste local dishes and try out all the street food ;) can’t miss out on the food when you travel!! and of course it would be nice to do shopping too but it would be like a one day thing and not the main point of the trip (though nothing stops you from buying if you see something nice on your way, right?) and i like to buy magnets to insert on the fridge as well as postcards and maybe something else too if i happen to find something nice to take home as souvenirs~

5. GOING HOME: ah the most bittersweet part of every trip... after this nice trip, we would feel refreshed and go back home nicely & safely with baggages that have increased by 20kg (jkjk) and look through all the photos and think about the memories that we made on the trip and not talk about anything else for the next month or so :))

so yeah here is a not-so-detailed plan/outline for my dream trip (that i wrote without any specific thoughts and didn’t even bother to check so it’s just completely written according to the flow of my thoughts aka it’s very messy)! it’s really impossible to do this right now, taking into account the corona situation and all that... plus i’m still a student who has neither money nor time </3 but you can always dream! maybe in the future i’ll get a good job that pays well and when i have time to go on a trip, i’ll make this come true ;)) who knows!

I was definitely back in high school and went to either prom or a homecoming thing. I don't remember much about the actual dance but I remember trying to leave on the same bus with Chartell and they closed the door on me when I was trying to board even tho the driver CLEARLY saw me and had me pounding on the door but they just sped away. I had to go back inside bc it was cold as hell and the person that was in charge of the bussing was Stacy from work. She had to call both buses back bc they actually left more than one student behind. Ben was one of them. They were mad that they had to come back and apparently called her a bitch lmao.

I tried to get on the first bus but it was way too full and I didnt even see Chartell on there so I walked in and had everyone dead fucking staring at me so I turned around and got on the other one. I couldnt sit by Char bc the seats were full so I had to sit in the back most seat with Ben. For some reason he was telling me him and Tracy did coke before the dance and I was tryna talk to him about doing stupid shit like that but he definitely was not hearing it, hardheaded even in my dreams lmao 🙄

So we got back to the school (the dance was at a different high school I think) and they dropped everyone off in the fucking bandroom for some reason. Char was there practicing on her saxophone even tho she quit as soon as high school started. I gave her a hug since I didn't see her on the bus and then I left, almost knocking over some music stands lmao

It was like I was in a Professor Layton game playing as Luke and we were getting ready for the final part. I saw Granny Riddleton in the middle of town to check on how I was doing on puzzles and I didnt have any left but she did sell me a bitchin pair of red shoes that looked like they should be worn by elves lmao. She was also selling shoes for the professor and I bought his pair too

Something that had to do with Kim Cattral im pretty sure and there was this huge, gorgeous party and afterwards her and some other ppl were trying to get me to watch this movie and I was scared to go home bc at this point in time they were just making killer clones of ppl soooo yeah. Then it jumps to this one guy who had been cloned and his own clone stole his car so he had to dress up how his clone looked and literally killed his own clone by finding him in a parking lot and busting his head with a hammer

ten things i’ve learned in paris: part two

wow it’s been a HOT MINUTE since i’ve posted anything! i’ve had a crazy few weeks! pretty much all of my work was due in the span of two weeks, so i spent all my waking hours studying. i’ve turned in most of my work & now i’m gearing up for finals at the end of april!

recent goings-ons:

tara & stephen visited a few weeks ago, which was SO FUN & SO NICE. we wandered around a lot & ate a lot of good food, so win.

went to mass at saint sulpice on easter sunday, which was dope. very long, but cool.

went to rouen, a town in normandy, & spent the day wandering around. it’s a really cool lil town with a strong medieval flair. had some good crêpes & walked by the seine!

went to the opera to see orphée et eurydice, a ballet-opera. it was v weird, v modern & minimalistic. it was also in german, not even in french, so i had nO CLUE what was going on, even though i know the myth of orpheus & eurydice. but it was a cool experience! palais garnier is GORGEOUS.

went to le jardin des serres d’auteuil, which is this giant botanical garden. it was so so rad & i spent a few hours just wandering around all the greenhouses.

paris has been hectic, of late. there are three separate strikes going on: the sncf (trains), airfrance (airplanes) & the sorbonne. i haven’t really been affected by the sncf or the airfrance strikes, but MAN the strike at the sorbonne has really thrown a wrench in my plans!

basically, the french government has proposed a reform to the university system that will require more effort to get into the universities (la selection) instead of university being free & open to everyone. a bunch of students, who believe that higher education is a right & that the reform will discriminate against students who come from poorer or worse schools & districts, have gone on strike. (it’s also the 50th anniversary of mai ’68, which is one of the biggest strikes in french history, so everyone’s a lil keyed up). a bunch of universities have been closed since last monday, including paris iv, which is where i go to class. i literally showed up to class & was told by a security dude that i couldn’t go in two weeks in a row.

the problemo is that due to the way the homework was structured, i’ve only turned in one assignment. the other two were due on the days that i didn’t have class, so as of right now, i only have one grade (that i haven’t even received yet) & i can’t talk to my professor (bc i don’t have his email) & everyone’s on strike. so i don’t know what’s going to happen! which is cool! & not at all stressful!

anyway, that’s a lil update on my life so far, but i wanted to finish up sharing the things i’ve learned in paris & then share some more pictures!

six. when you get on the metro & want to sit down, never sit in one of those seats that fold down unless you absolutely have to. the way the metro is structured is that there are little cubes of four seats, two seats facing frontward & two seats facing backward. the ideal seat is one of the outside edges of the seat-cube-thing, because then you won’t have to stand up when the metro gets too crowded or squeeze past people to get in or out of the seat cube.

sept. paris is FRKING BEAUTIFUL when the trees have leaves! if you’re in paris during the spring, take the time to spend a few hours wandering around all the little gardens & parks & next to the seine & down the streets. it’s magical. it’s also very worth taking the time to just wander around & not have any particular destination in mind.

huit. please, for the love of whatever you hold dear, either sit down or hold on to the poles on the bus. the buses here are so jerky & you WILL fall if you’re not braced against something. i can’t tell you how many times someone has fallen into me or onto me if i’m sitting down because they were just standing without holding onto something. men are usually the culprits (maybe because they think holding onto the poles isn’t manly? idk) & having large men slam into me is not ideal. so please. hold on.

neuf. i’ve recently discovered les croissants amandes & HOT DANG they’re dangerous. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND. as far as i can tell, they’re old croissants (probably from the day before that didn’t sell) that are filled with some kind of almond cream & baked again, then sprinkled with powdered sugar & shaved almonds. omg. i can’t even begin to tell how much i love them. i think i’ve had like, six, in the last week. best one so far is from maison thevenin, in the 14e arrondissement.

dix. eating out in paris can be really expensive, so the best option is to try to find a restaurant that has a formule. basically, it’s a set price & for that price you get an appetizer, a main course, & a dessert, or a main dish & a dessert, or any combination. you pick from a set list of options for each course & it usually ranges from between €15-€25. sometimes, wine is included! which is nice!

that my sorbonne class would work out. i need the credit for this class & it’s stressful not knowing if i’ll get a grade for it.

warm weather & good health as i head into my last few weeks & finals & then my family’s two-week europe trip! i desperately want paris to be green before i leave & that the rain would hold off while we’re exploring!

i did well on all my midterms, which is a relief!

i still miss everyone back home, but i’m trying to make the most of my last two weeks (WHAT) here in paris! can’t wait for my fam to visit so i can show them all around (& do the interacting w the french haha) thanks for all the support & prayers!

I was non insurable as of last year due to pancreas problems. I went in the hospital 2 months ago and it turns out my problems were caused from my gallbladder. Had my gallbladder removed so now is it possible for me to be insured?
