just…bear with me a minute

with shannon, it was purely physical after she came back, but he still had his walls up. he didn’t want to let her back in chris’ life if she was just going to leave again. and not to get too deep into their relationship (bc this could get very long) but to me, it was almost as if he used that as a buffer. the sexual attraction was there, yes. but shannon was around wanting to be let in again and emotionally eddie wasn’t ready for that, but physically? yeah, sex, they were always good at that.

and then with ana, we know they didn’t flesh out her character at all. we never really saw into their relationship other than the last few episodes before they broke up. but emotionally you could tell they weren’t really connected; eddie kept himself closed off “everything’s been great.” liar. then the physical side…it’s interesting how eddie never even kissed ana on screen besides only on her cheek. how he completely shut down and closed himself off when they were breaking up. she was grasping at him, and he wouldn’t budge—arms crossed, again putting up that barrier.

and then we have buck. as we’ve seen so far this season, eddie’s pushing buck away too. physically and emotionally. he’s refusing to talk about the will and the shooting. he almost died in buck’s arms. he knows how deep that is. how deeply rooted buck is into him, even more so because of that. but with buck, eddie can only close himself off so much. he named buck legal guardian of his son for crying out loud. he can’t/won’t completely cut himself off from buck. and the funny thing is he knows this. he can’t put up this barrier when he’s around buck if buck decides to press the issue. sure, he can deflect and make his panic attacks about ana. he can be there for him when buck’s in distress about chimney. but if none of that is going on and there’s nothing else important pressing down on them, what does he resort to? physical. distance.

it’s all going to come to a head soon though. and gooddddd i’m begging for a forehead touch pLEASE. eddie would be on the edge of a knife, his hands shaking as they fist into buck’s shirt because he wants but he’s so scared. and he voices that, but he doesn’t need to bc buck knows. and buck’s scared, too. terrified. but eddie needs someone to take care of him for once. and buck says “i got you” and eddie hesitates for a split second before giving in. he already trusts this man with his whole heart, his child. so when he finally gives in and crosses that line and buck catches him without faltering…😮‍💨
