Somewhere in the Hilbert Dimension, Kylie finished putting out the fires and fixing up the ship again. She sat down on the snow nearby, looked up at the stars and thought, "Where next?"
A celebration piece for the perma-death No Man's Sky milestone that I completed earlier this year. Went far outside the comfort zone on this one, so some details I wanted to include like the ship itself and the jet-pack had to be omitted in the name of ever finishing.
The helmet, however, is an intentional omission, and entirely valid given that no one in the NMS universe wears one even when the world is made out of radiation.
The question of where next is quite open at this time. I have a lot of other games I want to stream, so I don't know when I'll pick it up again. Still, here's your chance to try and influence the answer. (It is quite likely the next NMS stream I do will be with friends in regular mode and/or Expedition, though)

🌲, 🏆, 🐶, and 💤 for Artemis
🌲: How long did you and your f/o know each other before you got together?
the rate of passage of time in the nms universe appears to be "yeah" but i imagine like, about a year passes between the first meeting and the actual promise to find each other that serves as an unspoken love confession (since i Do Not See the actual ending of the artemis path. no when the portal activated they just got abruptly shunted out of the void between worlds and now they're in another galaxy so it'll take some extra effort to finally see them in person that's all 😊)
🏆: What would your F/O consider to be a "perfect day"?
i imagine that at the "current" point in the self ship timeline artemis and my s/i orpheus have never actually been in the same physical space so at this point artemis's perfect day is the day they find a portal, activate it, go through it, and find orpheus standing on the other side. and then the two of them go to that cool museum of oddities in the galactic hub (which is a real player-built base that exists in game and that i hope is still standing because the last time i was there was in 2020)
🐶: Is your F/O more of a cat person or a dog person?
i feel like if this game had dog-like fauna (near as i can tell from the genera list on the wiki there are cat-like fauna but no dog-like fauna) artemis would have one as a pet. they seem like the kind of person who, if they were a human on earth, would have a loyal dog that they bring along on hikes.
💤: What does your F/O wear for pajamas?
i feel like it depends on what planet they're on at the time? like something warm on cold planets, something cool on hot planets, and they try to avoid staying on toxic or irradiated planets long enough to have to bunk down there

Rose zinnia lily!
-selfshippery
thank you!! they posted most recently in my queue so I’ll go with artemis!!
rose - how many brain cells would you estimate there are between you and your f/o?
my nms s/i orpheus is one of my smarter s/is (but they have a habit of doing dangerous shit just for The Thrills, since they’re basically just my playstyle as a character) and artemis is one of my smarter f/os (albeit too curious for their own good) so I’d say…together we form most of a normal brain but minus the impulse control
zinnia - how often do you think about your f/o? do they live in your head rent free or do you not think about them for months on end before suddenly hyperfixating on them nonstop for a week?
I have periods where I’m normal about them and then out of nowhere I’m like “oh FUCK” and I start a new nms save just to play the artemis path again even though I know the end and it’s sad
lily - what would you say is the color scheme of you and your f/o?
artemis is a weird color scheme to pin down because they’re semi-transparent or affected by lighting in most of their appearances but if we take their decal as their canon color scheme:
Tumblr media
then our collective color scheme is basically just “pastel cool-spectrum colors” since my in-game suit is light purple and orpheus’s design is mostly light purple, green, and blue color-wise
