Excerpt from this story from Inside Climate News:
The United States District Court for the District of Maryland has tossed a flawed environmental assessment that grossly underestimated harms to endangered and threatened marine species from oil and gas drilling and exploration in the Gulf of Mexico.
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) prepared the assessment known as a biological opinion—BiOp for short— in 2020 under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). NMFS is a federal agency within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The biological opinion is required to ensure that drilling and exploration for fossil fuels in the Gulf does not jeopardize endangered and threatened species, and is a prerequisite for oil and gas drilling permits auctioned by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
That same year, Earthjustice, a national nonprofit, filed a suit challenging the biological opinion on behalf of Sierra Club, the Center for Biological Diversity, Friends of the Earth and the Turtle Island Restoration Network. The American Petroleum Institute, Chevron and several other groups representing the oil and gas industry intervened as defendants in the case.
The environmental groups argued the biological opinion underestimated the potential for future oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico and did not require sufficient safeguards for imperiled whales, sea turtles and other endangered and threatened marine species from industrial offshore drilling operations.
The Gulf of Mexico is home to a range of threatened marine species protected under the ESA, including the endangered Rice’s whale, which exists nowhere else on the planet.
It also caters to much of the nation’s oil and gas extraction under federal waters known as the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). This includes a region known as the Gulf OCS that experiences a high volume of ship traffic to production platforms, tens of thousands of active wells and thousands of miles of underwater pipelines.
In its Aug. 19 ruling, the district court agreed with the environmental groups that the biological opinion violated the law in multiple ways. Among other deficiencies, it found the opinion wrongly assumed that a catastrophic oil spill like the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon will not occur despite NMFS’ own finding that such a spill can be expected.
The court declared the 2020 BiOp unlawful and ordered NFMS to produce a new biological opinion by December 2024.
“The new opinion should come along with more protections for the Gulf’s threatened and endangered species that are already struggling to survive in the face of an onslaught of threats, including existing oil and gas activity, climate change and others,” said Kristen Monsell, oceans program litigation director for the Center for Biological Diversity.

how about the gang finding a magical amulet and testing out it's powers!
oooh, i gotchu fam!
puttin it under a cut bc it’s long :D
It was just a regular day. The weekend had started, meaning Avery didn’t have any training to do, so he was off to go spend some time with kry and the rest of the gang. It had been a liiiittle too long since they’d all hung out. Especially with all the new curfews and such. Avery shook his head. Despite all the reassurances from kade that this was normal, he still felt it was a little much. He knew landon felt the same way. He snorted, readjusting the strap on his bag as he walked. Landon thought it was all ridiculous. Then again, when didn’t he think restrictions were frivolous? He knocked on the door to krystal’s shop. It was closed for the morning, but he knew she’d be home. Sure enough, there were some footsteps from inside, and the door unlocked to reveal krystal. She was wearing her typical baker’s getup, but had two ribbons (red and blue) tied to her ear. “You bring the stuff?” She asked, whispering through the crack between the door and the doorframe.“Yeah,” he whispered back, patting his leather bag with a paw, “all here. Took me awhile to convince myrick to let me bring em.”She giggled, hiding a smile behind her paw. “I’ll be right out. Meet you at the tree fort.”“Sounds good!”And with that, the two parted ways. He jogged through the streets, his bag thumping against his leg in a comforting manner. It wasn’t long before he’d made it to the fort. It was more a ramshackle hut than anything else. It looked almost as if someone had lifted a poorly built shed into the air and stuck it into a tree. Which was… pretty accurate, all things considered. He climbed up the ladder, shoving open the trapdoor. “Hey! Look who finally decided to show up.”“Oh, knock it off landon.” “H-hey, let’s n-not fight!”“Hey guys!” Avery said happily, dropping his bag down onto the wooden floor. “Yo,” landon said with a wave. He was leaning against the wall in his typical attire. Though Avery did notice a new gem brooch. He raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Gift from a friend?”“From his giiiiirlfriend,” kade sang, grinning mischievously and punching landon on the shoulder. His face turned bright green. “Oh shut up!” He said, shoving him back. “You’re one to talk-”“H-hey, I-i said no f-fighting!”Myrick pushed his way in between them, holding his hooves out. His fur was ruffled, and his glasses were slightly askew, but he looked a little more anxious than usual. Avery laughed, walking over to join the group. “Alright, alright, calm down guys.”The four of them hugged, patting one another on the back. They pulled apart smiling.“S-so… c-could the girls not m-make it…?” Myrick asked, pushing his glasses back up his nose. Landon shrugged, muttering, “they should be here soon… angel said she had something to do this morning.”“Prisma’s around,” kade said, gesturing at the dark leaves around them. “BOO!” Prisma jumped out of a cluster of leaves near the ceiling, landing with a thump. Avery jumped and Myrick shrieked, holding his hooves over his head. The small deer trembled for a moment before realizing it was just prisma. “Whoops, sorry lil guy,” she said nervously. Avery just rolled his eyes. Typical spy, he thought to himself.“Ok, ok, dramatic entrances aside, kry should be here any minute. What’s the deal myre?” He asked. He gave myrick a pat on the head. Myrick’s eyes lit up and he scrambled for his bag. “I-I found s-something!!!” He exclaimed. “I-I was looking I-in this old ch-chest that w-we found in an o-old castle r-room, and there’s th-this amulet-”“What amulet?”“Ayy, I’ve heard of “look what the cat dragged in”, but never the bunny dragging in the cat.” “Watch it, skeleton,” krystal said, sharply glancing at him. “U-um, sorry to interrupt…” angel called softly, climbing up into the tree fort. Avery smiled warmly, helping the two girls up. “I’m glad you could make it,” he said truthfully. “Me too,” krystal said happily. He looked her over. Those ribbons… her fur… her smile… he caught her gaze and they both looked away hurriedly. It’s nothing, he assured himself, it’s just the excitement getting to me. “Did… did you say amulet…?” Angel asked timidly.“Yeah, yeah, the amulet,” Avery said in a rush. He was eager to change the subject. He realized he might’ve been a little too quick with his words as krystal and the others shot him some questioning glances. “Uh… what does it do…?”“Th-that’s the thing, w-we don’t k-know what it does!” Myrick stammered, then launched into a few different explanations.Kade stared at him blankly, and prisma did her best to look interested. Angel just looked lost. It was only when Landon gave an overly exaggerated yawn, only to receive an elbow in the chest from krystal, that Avery stepped in.“Hey, how about we just test it?” He asked. His tail flicked back and forth as he thought. “Maybe we could try casting some spells to see what kind of enchantments it’s got on it.”“Oh,” myrick blinked. He’d been caught mid sentence by avery’s interruption. “I… y-yeah, we could d-do that.”Avery let out a sigh of relief, offering an apologetic smile to myrick. “Ok. So-” he rubbed his paws together, grinning- “who wants to start off?” The clamor of eager voices rang out across the small patch of woods as each member of the group lent their magic skills towards the new discovery. Their laughter and enthusiastic statements continued on in the day until it was rather dark outside. It was only when the moon was high above the trees that the gang disbanded. Each of them bore the mark of the day’s adventure, be it in ruffled feathers, dusty scales, or slightly charred fur. Avery smiled as he slipped back into his small squire’s room, gently lying his bag of magic scrolls on his desk. They’d served him well. Francis crawled out of the bag, making his way over to his pot, and Avery snorted. The little flower had made its presence known when he’d opened the bag, and given everyone a bit of a shock. But he’d had fun. And so had everyone else. “G’night Avery…” the small flower mumbled before his petals closed for the night.Avery chuckled softly as he flopped down onto his bed. “Night francis… see you in the morning…”

NMF OHG - My Analysis of the Gold Market
NMF OHG - As the story goes, a child finds this shiny rock somewhere in a creek, many thousands of years ago. This could well have been how the human race was introduced to gold for the very first time. Gold eventually became part of every human culture. The fact that gold is widely dispersed throughout the geological world, it was available for discovery pretty much everywhere. Some early civilizations equated gold with gods and important rulers. Because of its beauty, a high value has always been put on gold. The Inca's said gold was the "tears of the sun". Gold was first used as money around 700 B.C.
NMF OHG explains to you Gold is currently in a major bull market. Commodities are currently in a secular bull market and should have at least a few years to go before ultimately this trend changes its course. Gold prices could hit amazing high levels before this major bull market runs its course.
Fundamentally, gold has quite a few factors pointing to higher prices. Many countries, and individual investors alike, are acquiring gold, because of all the uncertainties facing and the world. Long term, I believe the dollar is facing an uphill battle. The debt, along with the incredible amount of money being printed.
With world demand increasing, and the supply continuing to shrink, the laws of supply and demand make it quite clear. Gold will most likely rally to very high prices in the next few years. There will be price corrections, which will give savvy investors a chance to invest in gold, and make even bigger profits in the years to come.
A daily chart analysis tells gold is currently in a downtrend. The longer the time frame involved, the more weight it carries. So, the monthly and weekly charts tell us the major uptrend is still in good shape. The daily chart tells we are currently in a minor price correction.
The bottom line is, fundamentally and technically, the price of gold should continue to rise long term. In my opinion, the odds dictate. It could possibly go much higher than that. If you see gold rally an incredible amount, in a relatively short period of time, this most likely would mean that gold prices are topping out. In technical terms, it is called a climax price run. That would be the time to sell all your gold, and collect your substantial profits

Load more appreciation posts coming insyaAllah, let’s start with this one.All 10 of these girls mean so so so much to me, kita start dari kanan naa.
Ayshah – We both went to UiTM sama-sama, both did Diploma in Artistic Writing. Cumanya, lepas diploma, Esah got married to the love of her live, Mr Bean Pie, Jeremy, and now live in California, dengan kedua anak-anak depa yang comel masyaAllah. Esah was there when I was serching for myself, like post SPM baru nak up baru nak dewasa. I’ve made a simple short documentary, for my final year project, showcasing reflection on my short trip to the states, and the video, basically gives the voice of my inner wants, sebab Esah memang relationship goals! MasyaAllah, really, and , I showed it to Adib. It made something to him and yeah. Thank you again for making the time and effort to come all the way to Malaysia from US for my wedding, (and other weddings, and Alhamdulillah, jadik asbab to see you and your kids), you were there when I was at my lowest, and we both cuba be the best and make the best out of our diploma years, and I am blessed to have you there during one of my happiest day masyaAllah. Terima kasih Esahhhh ❤
Diyana – Same like Esah, Diyana and I went to the same uni, same batch, cumanya, kitorang course lain-lain. Tapi sebab kami sepesen, suka buat benda sama-sama, and sama-sama gila, sama-sama susah senang, sama-sama pulon. Terima kasih sudi hadap Ezzah walaupun I am hard at time. Terima kasih sudi dengaq semua ceritera Obi yang Ezzah kisahkan, and I ask Allah to mudahkan your journey to be with your kekasih as well. Ameen. You’re surely one of a kind, and terima kasih instill the feel to travel in me. I remember, we were talking one of the gazebo kat Puncak Perdana tu, and you told me how you really wanna travel, and I took upon that aspiration and go for it. Terima kasih kongsikan dengan Adib a rahsia that I myself dont really know how to put it into words. Terima kasih sudi jadik geng yang tak penah segan nak bergilaan bersama-sama. Know that I really am rooting forward for your future endevours and moga Allah kekalkan indah yang lebih-lebih lagi dalam hidup kita. Ameen. ❤
‘Izzah – Izzah dengan Ezzah. Kita punya nama sama, ejaan ja berbeza. You are like a senpai that I am proud to have. Sama-sama kat Cardiff, and you roll like a pro masyaAllah. I remember the time when we first met, masa tu kat Nottingham Malaysian Games kot, and we clicked right away sebab kita dua sama-sama bising and kuat sembang. Thank you for making my Iceland trip a dream come true, and sudi direkod for my vlog purposes. Masa I first came to KL, nak kerja kat Astro, you welcomed me and bawak pi Ikea. Allah, indah sangat masyaAllah. I remember telling you about Obi, and you’re super excited. Sebab, you were there masa I first saw him. We both were at NMF and you were at the same place as us masa the first glance took place. Makanya, you’re special liddat! I know I can be very clumsy a lot of the time, but you bersabaq and hadapkan sahaja. You always speak the truth and pesan benda yang baik-baik. I ask Allah to hantarkan the best of person for you Zaza, as I know how you are the best person, and you deserve someone that will treat you well as well. (Kalau ada yang berkenan kat Zaza, habaq, can kenalkan. muehehehe). Thank you for being with me during my special day. Thank you banyak bagi tips sebab you just organized your kakak’s wedding. ❤
Maisarah – Mai yang awesome and unique masyaAllah. You knew me when I was really weird, lol, sekarang masih weird, cuma, now more maturely weird. Terima kasih layankan seorang Ezzah Mahmud sejak 2006, walau after PMR, I left SGGS and went to MRSM you make the effort to keep in touch and hang out. MasyaAllah, it means so much to me. You’ve always been a great person and funny and adorable and beyond loving towards me. I remember one time, I overslept and you went to the movies alone. You cool and chill ja with it. Alhamdulillah, Im blessed that we both walaupun tak contact selalu, but we always catch up and follow up and updates. I am super happy to have you during my special day, and tolong siapkan dewan ramai-ramai dengan Esah, Cheng, Fatin, Ninah, Sangmi, Luqman, semua. I ask Allah to grant you best of the best life cause you’re a great person masyaAllah. And thank you for always making me feel great all the time. ❤
Bella – Naaaabbb. Hmm, where to start. When I went to MRSM, I feel like I was outta place. Like, apa aku buat kat sini, bukannya pandai sangatpun, result pun biasa-biasa ja. Like, I feel my artistic side ni makin membuak-buak, and MRSM just made me feel worst about myself. But, life in MRSM was bearable and better with you. You are among the first that sebutkan and inceptioned the fact that, hey, Ezzah, you’re an artist and you should do whatever you want, not so much of what people want you to do. Which then lead me to make my most proud decision of my life, (Now second, sebab, choosing Adib is now most proud decision thus far), to pursue creative endeavours, diploma artistic writing, and I never turned back. Alhamdulillah. And you’re the person that Allah destined to be the one to introduce Adib to me. Malam tu, kat NMF, when I walked to you sebab nak dengaq Bunkface perform (sebab band lain tak kenai sangat, dok duduk tepi ja, and TVS ja lah yang tau pun), and during that blissful and magical/special moment, I saw Adib, just walking pass me, and something weird happened to me, my heart, my brain, my all, and at that split seconds, I was overwhelmed, and more overwhelmed when he proceed to tegur you. Terus, Allahu Akhbar, korang kawan!?!?! and the rest of the story, I’ll detailed it in a different post. As for now, yes, you are super special in these #Forcebond of me and Adib. Thank you. I ask Allah to grant you the blissfulness and amazingness that life can offer. You’re awesome Nab, I am blessed to have you in my life. ❤
Fatin Aqilah – Weyh, dalam dunia ni, aku ber-aku-hang dengan 3-4 orang ja, and hang salah seorang. Hang, Cheng, and Mai adalah antara yang paling lama kenai aku dalam list ni. I was 13, 11 years ago, and you’ve seen me way before, waktu zaman potong rambut boycut, sama-sama geng olahraga, and layankan seorang Ezzah yang pelik dari SGGS, lepas tu sama-sama ke MRSM BP, masih hang tak pernah hilang. MasyaAllah. You’ve seen when at all the phase that I have been to, dari budak-budak, tingkatan 1 sampai la tingkatan 5, when I had my first crush, sampailah my husband now. I remember telling you first about writing the letter to Adib, and asked you to make doa for me. Hang sorang ja yang aku kenai sama-sama tengok Greys Anatomy daripada epi 1 season 1, and you are my person Fatin. You truly are. After all this while, and you still stays, Allahu Akhbar. Aku hargai sangat-sangat. So many great memories that we have had, and kalau aku nak listkan, mau sampai esok, so yeap, I am blessed and proud to have you as my best friend. Terima kasih tau Fatin. ❤

Angst???? Okay!! How about Avery and loss?
oof… tryna think of somethin i could do for this… Since i might get ideas (:3) if i do a death, i’ll give everyone’s fave lion goat a horrible day :3c
The day had already had a bad start. Avery had gotten up late, had to settle for spinach for breakfast, and had discovered he’d been wearing his tunic on inside out for the whole morning. Now that he was back in his room, there was another problem. The box that held all of his most treasured possessions had disappeared.Avery looked everywhere. Under his bed, in the training field, in the treehouse, even in kade and prisma’s secret meeting spot. But it was gone.He sat on his bed, head in his paws. He couldn’t believe it. All those little gifts he’d gotten… the rocks, the scrolls, the jewels… “… Krystal’s ribbon…” he mumbled to himself, feeling tears threatening to fall. That was what he’d miss the most. It was the first thing she’d ever given him. The thing that signified the beginning of their friendship. In fact, all those things in the box held similar significance. How was he ever going to relive all those memories now? Especially the one where he’d met Krystal? He sniffled, shoulders shaking. How could he ever have lost that box…? There was a knock on the door. “What?” he said shakily, wiping tears off his face.“You’re late for training,” growled peter, “get your tail down to the training yard NOW or you’re gonna regret it.”“Fine, fine,” he replied, tugging his gloves on. Training while he felt like he’d been punched in the gut? Sure, why not. It’s not like this day could get any worse.
The lion-goat limped back to his room after the training session was over. It turned out he’d been wrong about the day getting worse. Avery hadn’t been able to focus on fighting at all, or block any hit Peter had attempted. He’d been sent back after Peter got frustrated enough to roar at him. Flopping down on his bed, he let out a weak groan. He was going to have bruises all over him the next day. Avery buried his head in his pillow.“Avery? You doing alright?” Francis asked. The flower was looking down at him from atop his bookshelf. “No… jus leave me alone,” he mumbled into the fabric. The sooner this terrible day was over, the better.

A Snake In The Castle
A Not My Fight RP with @doodles23 and @killerraptors ---------------------------------------- This is backstory for how Naga lost her arm.
WARNING! There is some blood n gore in this one near the end and during a fight scene. Though that can’t be helped, as it is how a character got their arm ripped off.
The chapters list for the whole story can be found here --------------------------------------
All 3 of us decided to rp this out, so here’s a bit of a collab story!
Arty: Rain was pounding on the walls of the castle. The sky was dark, though lightning lit up the spires every so often, thunder booming seconds later. Many would have hated a day like this. The storm effectively trapped most monsters inside their homes. But there was one who enjoyed days like this...
Squall stood on a balcony outside his rooms, head tilted back and eyes closed as the rain ran down his scales. Rain. One of his few pleasures in the world. One of the few things that would cause him to push plans back to appreciate the downpour. It was days like this that Nthenda was, for once, a peaceful kingdom. His tail twitched. Someone was waiting for him inside. He huffed, then turned around to see Vordur in the doorway. "What is it?" he growled out.
Doodles: Everything seemed still from squall’s view of the world, but little did he know that down in the shadows, an assassin was slithering silently through the storm. She muttered silently to herself, not believing her luck that a storm had started. She flinched at every lightning flash, worried that each one would expose her. Usually she loved the feeling of water running down her scales, but not today. The only thing she was grateful for was the added darkness of the cloud cover.
Killer: Lightning. So much power drawn out of each spark. The light flashed it's blinding color, showing itself off for the world to see. The day had been long and always a bore. The halls were silent, besides the consistent roar of the storm edging its way overhead. Very few had passed Vordur in the long darkened paths, his back kinked straight and a long spear grasped in his hand. With clicks of his clawed toe, he had made his way down to Prince Squall's room, only to find him admiring the rainfall down onto his skin and clothing. Such a scene would tell another to not become bothersome for the Prince, and therefore Vordur stood silently waiting for his master to approach him. Once the Prince turned tail to the dark air of the world outside and spoke directly to his guard, Vordur spoke, "My Prince sorry to... disturb you." He paused and slouched over for a second before straightening back out, "three of our elite guards have gone missing, and a few of the others came to me for the matter. Would you like to let the matter simply pass or a search to be issued out?" He asked in his raspy voice.
Arty: Squall tilted his head. "Three are missing...? Hmmh... that's a bit of a strange number..." He mused aloud, "where were they stationed? Do we know if there are any intruders to the castle?" He came inside, standing by the fireplace in his room. He fanned his wings out to dry as he waited for an answer. It was quite possible that there was a spy or assassin in the castle. Glacia hadn't sent any in awhile, but he knew better than to hope for the best. It was different if one or two guards went missing. Even his elites ran off sometimes. But three...? A roll of thunder rang out from outside the still-open balcony doors. He snapped his fingers, his eyes momentarily flashing red, and it shut with a soft click.
Doodles: Naga saw squall turn around and took the opportunity to go. She slithered quickly through the shadows to the castle, staying out of sight. She looked around and decided that she could not use the front doors. She shivered. All this cold rain was NOT helping her think. She pressed a button on her sleeve and her clothes start to silently heat themselves. She sighed quietly as the heat seeped back into her scales. She looked around again and spotted a window that had swung open from the wind. 'bingo' she thought to herself.
Killer: Vordur kept his mouth shut while the Prince was speaking, it would have been utterly rude to interrupt him. Once his words faded out, it was his cue to speak once more, "All three of them were stationed in the Keep sir. The missing reports happened all around the same time, but there is no evidence as of now of something that would have taken or killed the few. I can send a message out to the search party, to check the corners and edges of the castle?" He asked and before Squall could give an answer or comment suddenly another guard popped into the entrance of the doorway. The guard shouldn't have been there, only if it were urgent. If it wasn't he would have Squall to deal with or even Vordur. The guard looked as if he had been running, his chest heaving. "Yes?" Vordur politely bowed to Prince before turning to the guard and stated. "Sir there is a fight breaking out in your sector." The guard was speaking to Vordur by using the term 'Sir', Prince would have been used if directed toward Squall. Vordur grumbled slightly before asking for permission from Prince Squall, "May I please be dismissed my Prince?"
Arty: A soft growl slipped out from between Squall's jaws. It seemed his initial thought had been correct. "You are dismissed, but be sure to send guards to go search the castle," he ordered before turning to the other guard. "Go and tell those guarding the entrances to close the gates. I don't want anyone going in or out of here," he snarled. Whipping around, he strode over to his desk. He grabbed a sphere made of yellow crystal and set it down in front of him, tapping it a few times. A fog billowed up inside of the sphere. After a moment or two, it cleared, revealing a misty form. He tilted his head. "A snake..." he muttered, "just as I suspected..."
Doodles: Naga continued sneaking around the castle. Whenever she heard anyone coming, she would expertly hide within the shadows or under a table. She looked around, searching for her target. Her tongue flicked in concentration. She pulled a picture out of her pocket and looked over the figure again. It was a dark colored raptor with pink, green, and blue feathers. She glanced around her area again, wondering how someone with bright colored feathers could be so hard to find.
Killer: Vordur tilted his head toward Squall before turning his attention on the guard. The two hissed back and forth to one another, Vordur's stance was obviously annoyed with the creature. His clawed hand wrapped around the guard's arm and dragged him out with him, "How dare you interrupt me when I'm with the Prince. And for what? A fight!" His voice raised and he barked out at the guard, "You could have handled it yourselves..." As he walked down the hall his voice faded and trailed off out of hearing distance for Squall. Once he got to the sector and took his spear and slammed it onto the ground, lightning pulsed its way around the room and struck the three guards fighting. They all screeched in pain and stopped nagging and tearing at each other. It wouldn't damage them, just get their attention majorly. "That's enough!" Vordur growled out and the room went quiet. A few burn marks appeared where the excess lightning had landed, the sounds had echoed down the halls and added to the storm outside the walls.
Arty: Squall ran a claw across the sphere's surface, and the misty image became clearer. It seemed that there was a spitting cobra in the castle. He watched as it pulled a small square of parchment out from its bag. 'Hmmh. Must be it's target.' A few more taps allowed him to get a good look at the picture. He let out a snarl as he recognized the face. It was Vördur. They were trying to kill off his head of the guard. Shaking himself to get rid of any excess water from the rain, he swept out of his rooms. It would be better to find and kill the assassin himself than have an unsuspecting vördur chance upon them. He felt a presence shift in the back of his mind, and soon a soft red glow came from his eyes. A grin slowly spread across his face. He knew that if the pcoumo got involved without him asking, it was bound to be a fun chase. Fun for him, that is. Not so much for the snake.
Doodles: Naga heard the noise. She looked in the direction of the sounds and flashing lights. She rolled her eyes, wondering how she could've forgotten his magic. Lightning... He must be stronger with the storm raging outside... Nonetheless, she slithered out from her spot towards the room Vördur was in.
Killer: The room quickly cleared out, the other guards heading back to their more private rooms so they wouldn't get in any more trouble with the sector's head guard. Vordur stood there his spear in hand, all alone... or so he thought. The storm continued to crack and thunder outside, the rain getting caught by the gusts of wind which tattered it against the walls of the castle. Vordur perked up his head and looked around, something didn't feel right. His tail shifted to the side, and his claws flinched, someone was still here. But... all the guards had left, he wondered. His feathers atop his head ruffled and a small spark emitted from his weapon, which for a second lit the room up before it went dark again. He let out another spark as he looked around, nothing yet in sight.
Arty: Squall trotted down the halls silently. He could thank the pcoumo for muffling the noises of his footsteps. The sounds of thunder echoing off the spires outside distracted him momentarily as he paused to listen. For a moment, he wished he could just go out in the rain. But the thought suddenly disappeared out of his mind. He shook his head and continued on. By the time he arrived outside of Vördur's sector, he could see sparks flashing from under the door. He huffed. Mild disappointment resonated from the back of his mind. It seemed he'd have to sit this one out. Nevertheless, he cracked the door to watch the show.
Doodles: Naga’s lips curled up into a small smile and she bared her fangs. With a small hiss, she spat her venom from in the shadows at Vördur. She then pulled out what looked like a handle with some buttons on it, and held it at the ready.
Killer: Vordur tilted his head to the side, hearing and catching the small hiss coming from behind him. He turned and back peddled his feet. The venom splattered onto the floor and sizzled a bit before dying down. He blinked a few times and brought his head up and growled out, baring his row of sharp teeth. He slouched over and bent his legs more backing up. His spear was gripped tighter in his claw and he spat out, "So... they sent an assassin to kill me." He narrowed his eyes, "Cute." He swished his tail back and forth. The next spark created a blinding light that revealed Naga, and cast odd shadows on the wall. His yellow eyes were locked on her figure, and he lowered his feathers a bit.
Doodles: Naga let out an angry hiss. The floor had been marked with a pattern of ovals, unique to only naga. She pressed a button on her stick and a large blade swung out with a 'shink'. She darted forward, swinging her blade at him, knowing she couldn’t hide if he knew that she was there.
Killer: Vordur jerked to the side and raised his spear up, catching the blade in the middle of the long handle. He bared his teeth once more and pushed her back, a streak of quick moving lightning stretching out and grazed her side, leaving a very faint burn mark. With his weapon he was stronger, something some people didn't realize, but most were able to figure it out soon enough. Their weapons clashed back and forth, soon the tip of Naga's blade dug into his lower half of his chest and ripped a tear in the clothing, drawing blood to the surface. He rebounded her hit and stabbed the end of the spear into her tail, which electrocuted her for a few seconds before he ripped it out and backed off to regain his sight of her.
Doodles: When she had been burnt in the side she gritted her teeth, but she recovered quickly. She realized that she needed to get that spear away from him. She attempted to, causing a slash across his lower chest in the process. As she tries to disarm him, he gained that opportunity to stab her tail. She was unable to remain silent with the hit and cried out some as the electricity coursed through her. When it stopped she backed away some to recover. She shook her head and lunged at him.
Killer: Vordur went at her head on as she made the choice to dive back into the fight. He felt the blood oozing out of the gash in his chest, the grayish tone of his skin and brown cloth clothing becoming stained with crimson red blood. He snarled as he swung his spear around, trying to catch her on the side of the head, but only for her to judge the movement and duck under the sharpened metal. Vordur felt a burning sensation as Naga spat her venom once again and he jeered backward, and Naga's blade went through the flesh above his hip. He railed out and was pushed to the ground, his spear sliding away from him. His toe claw clicked on the ground, and he raised it kicking her in the stomach to get her away from him, the claw had dug in a bit. He laid there on the floor, clenching his teeth.
Doodles: "-oof!" She was kicked away from Vördur and his spear. One hand was on her stomach, and the other held her weapon. She aimed it at the spear and pressed another button. Out of the end, a magnet attached to a single shot and grabbed the metal end of the spear. She tossed the spear up, embedding it in the ceiling, out of reach. She looked back at vördur, the blade of the weapon back out.
Killer: Vordur hissed and shuffled himself backward on the ground away from the assassin. He glanced around and noticed one of the guards had left a weapon out, not being brought with them or put away. He growled and shot up, booking it toward the weapon, his leg giving out a few times from him being impaled. He heard another hiss coming from the snake and he jumped his claws and toe claw gripping onto the side of the wall, which made the venom miss, and he rebounded off and curled onto the ground. His claw picked up the weapon as he rolled back into a stance. He lashed his tail back and forth again and created another flash to see Naga's figure once more.
Doodles: Naga saw that and cursed because he had a weapon once again. Though she had an advantage. Only the end if her tail was hurt and she could still move with ease. She bared her fangs and attempted once again to hit him with venom as she moved to attempt to slash again.
Killer: The new weapon Vordur picked up was a long-handled ax. It was heavier than a spear and more top heavy, but the had trained with many different weapons before, and he would have no problem wielding it. By now Vordur was getting used to the pattern the snake would use her venom. It may have been a pain to quickly move out of the way, but he ignored the pulse shuttering throughout his leg. He gripped his claws onto the floor, his toe-tapping, getting ready to run. With a clap of thunder from the outside show, he started forward, growling out. The storm raged on, creating shadows and shaking the walls. Vordur yelled out, forcing his leg not to collapse in on itself, and grabbed the end of Naga's blade as she went to swing at him. His flesh dug into the blade, at his hand moved down the middle of the sharp metal, blood washing over the surface in streaks. Her weapon was moved to the side with this choice, and he brought up momentum through the ax and landed it down on her right arm, with cracks and shattering bone, the ax pushed past her arm and fully through. He looked her in the eyes, pulling his damaged hand out from her blade and stepped back, his leg giving out finally. He fell to the ground and watched as the assassin's arm did the same.
Doodles: Her eyes went wide as the axe landed on her arm and her mouth opened in a silent scream. Her scream only became audible when the axe left her arm. She screamed. Loud. She stumbled back and her left hand flies to what's left of her arm, below her shoulder. She shook badly. Crimson blood gushed out of her wound. She knew that she had to get out of there. Or else she wouldn't leave at all. The room suddenly went black, including the hallway and she moved as fast as she could out of there. She hid. She pulled out bandages and attempted to patch up her arm but shook too much to do much, plus her dominant arm was gone. Tears streamed down her face from the pain.
Arty: Squall watched the two fight. He was silent, not wishing for them to notice him observing the two, but was ready to step in. He nearly did when the snake gained a bit of an upper hand. The fight may have been entertaining, but there was no way he'd let it kill his head of the guard. The snake's screams echoed off the inside of the room and into the hallways. The presence in the back of his mind trilled with glee. Different noises, especially the sounds monsters made, always seemed to excite the pcoumo. When the room suddenly went dark, he rushed in, pulling the darkness away in waves. The snake appeared to have darkness magic. 'Like smoke bombs', he thought grimly. "Vördur," he called, snapping his fingers, "get yourself to the infirmary. I'll make sure this snake leaves here, be it from the castle or from this earthly plane." And with that, he rushed past him and out of the room, following the trail of blood the snake left behind. His nostrils flared, taking in the scent. It was fresh, as it should be, and invigorated him. He tugged on the shadows around him. They came around him easily. The more cover he had, the better. Lightning lit the corridor ahead of him, revealing a slithering shape headed toward the castle wall.
Doodles: After she attempted to patch herself up, she made her way out of the castle. She HAD to get back home. She had to. Without taking her left hand off her new stub, she made her way slowly out. Blood had seeped into the bandage within seconds of being put on. She became dizzy from blood loss but she kept going, and she hardly noticed the cold of the storm as she slithered outside.
((And this is where we ended. Long story short, Naga got away and slithered her way to Skipper’s shop. He had her go to a healer first, but then took measurements and made her a new arm outta enchanted metal.))

Avery is practicing his fire stuffz when he accidentally hits Peter
this one is short, and i decided to use it for how Avery meets one of his friendos :D
enjoy y’all
Whoosh, flick. Thud.
Whoosh, flick. Thud.
Whoosh, flick- Hiss.
Avery let out a gasp. The purple flames that had been curling around his paws guttered out. He’d been training. That’s all it was.
One second the target was there.
The next, Peter was in front of it.
He’d had no time to stop. No time to react.
And neither had Peter.
The lion reaches up slowly, touching the singed patch of fur on his face. Avery’s eyes widened. He took a step back, tail flicking uneasily.
“P-Peter, I-I-”
“Shut it,” he snarled. He turned to Avery, lips curling back to reveal his sharp teeth. His paws clenched, red fire springing from around his gloves. “Why don’t you ever WATCH where you’re AIMING those!” The lion advanced towards Avery. “You never THINK, do you?! You just aim, and you just swing that stupid sword around-”
“P-Peter, Peter please, I-it was an accident-” Avery stammered. He backed up again, glancing behind himself to make sure he wouldn’t trip. “Just- I didn’t- you didn’t tell me-you got in the way-”
“SHUT. IT.” Peter grabbed Avery by the shirt, pulling him closer. Avery could smell the stink of meat on peter’s breath. He must’ve just come from breakfast. “You need to THINK about what you d-”
And suddenly, Peter let go.
Avery dropped to the ground, then scrambled away, getting to his feet a little ways away. When he looked up, a large dinosaur was standing next to Peter. It had one of his paws held in its yellow claw.
Peter and the dinosaur stared at one another for a few moments, then Peter yanked his paw out of its grip. He walked away, glancing back over his shoulder.
“Th-thanks…” Avery stammered.
“Don’t mention it,” the dinosaur said gruffly. It held out its claw to Avery. He blinked, unsure what it wanted, before registering he was supposed to shake.
“O-oh, um… i’m avery,” he said. He shook the dinosaur’s claw.
“Kade,” it responded, nodding slightly.

Whispers of A Storm
A Not My Fight short story. ------------------------------------------- This is backstory for Prince Squall.
The chapters list for the whole story can be found here. ------------------------------------------- I wrote this all in one sitting and am too lazy to go back and edit it now, so have these feels. Enjoy ;3c
Two years.
It had been two years since the queen had fallen sick.
Since she had died.
Since the king had constricted his already tight grip on the kingdom to a stranglehold.
Two years since the young prince had heard so much as one kind word. Seen one kind glance. Seen one little glimmer of sympathy in someone’s eyes.
Things change when the light of the kingdom goes out. Things change when the leader of a kingdom makes himself the dictator of an empire.
The young prince knew better than anyone.
It was just another dreary day. Squall curled up in bed, wanting to be left alone. But he could hear the feet of a scorpion servant clicking on the tiles outside his room. It knocked, claws clacking together a bit impatiently.
“Get up,” it said, raspy voice grating to his ears, “your father wants to see you. Again.”
Squall pushed his pillow over his face, grumbling into it, before tossing it at the wall.
“Tell him I’ll be there soon,” he responded.
He waited until the servant had left before rolling out of bed, stretching his wings out behind him. He wondered briefly what his father would want to “teach” him this time. Magic techniques? How to make people fear you more than they already do? He snorted to himself as he pulled on a clean shirt. Doesn’t really matter. He glanced around at the suits in his closet before picking a deep blue color. His mother had always said it went well with his scales. His cloak was the next thing he grabbed. It was still too long for the seven-year-old, but he wasn’t going to let that stop him from wearing it. It was warm, and the weight of it made it feel like an old friend. He could hear rain outside on his window. If he was quick with this, he might be able to catch the end of the downpour.
Rain. The sound of it… The feel of it… The very smell of it… It was the one thing Squall enjoyed more than anything nowadays. And it was something his father couldn’t take away. Nobody could control the weather.
Squall poked his head out of his room, glancing around the hall before slipping into the shadows. They gathered at his feet, trailing after him like his own personal shroud. He wished he could do better than a dark fog that swirled about his feet, but this was all he could manage to maintain. The hall led out into the throne room, and he steeled himself to enter, his tail twitching back and forth nervously.
He pushed the door open, folding his wings tightly to his back in case there was someone there ready to try and grab them. Some days, his training began like that. He shivered at the memory, grateful that there was nobody there today.
He quickly trotted down the maroon carpet to the throne, where his father sat.
The king of Nthenda was a sight to behold. He was a dragon with scales the color of rotting moss and an aura of gloom about him. His iron grey horns were twisted, one of them missing a tip. There was a scar that ran down one of his wings, showing a tear through the membrane, but he was still able to fly on it. He wore a large ruby necklace around his neck. The gold chain had chafed on his scales, betraying the fact that he hadn’t taken it off for years. His piercing yellow eyes pinned his son in place as he bowed at the foot of the throne.
“Father, I have come as you requested,” he said, keeping his eyes downcast. He tried not to let his voice sound small or frightened. But it was a hard battle, and it didn’t seem like he’d won from the sound of the dismissive snort his father gave.
“You should know to address me by my title, boy,” his father hissed.
“R-right, my apologies, King Gladeness,” Squall peeped. His wings shifted uneasily and he shuffled his feet. “What is it that you need me to do, King Gladeness…?”
Squall’s breath picked up as his father rose up off the throne. It was all he could do to keep staring at the floor. The king walked around him, looking the small dragon over like some sort of mildly annoying snizzy.
“Nothing. Nothing at all,” he snarled. He bared his teeth slightly, a low growl echoing around the room. “You’re not worth my time today. Get out of my sight.”
“B-But-” Squall stammered, head jerking up.
“Shut your whiny mouth!” the king snapped, “You’re never going to measure up to me. You have no power other than what I’ve taught you, and what power you leech off of me by being my rubbish excuse of a son. Get. Out. Now.”
Squall whirled around, nearly tripping over his cloak in his haste to leave. He felt thorny vines snag at his feet, their sharp, poisonous needles spiking through his scales. But kept running until he could slam the door of the throne room behind him.
And then he ran until he was out of that hallway.
Until he was out of that wing of the castle.
Until he had left the inside of the castle itself.
Until the cold rain poured down on him, soaking his scales and washing away the pinpricks of blood from his legs. They were already starting to swell up.
He leaned his head back, chest heaving, but not only from the burst of activity. He closed his eyes. He could feel the hot tears running down his face. What a sharp contrast they were to the icy water that was falling from the heavens.
“... Mum…”
“Why did the sickness have to take you away?”
“Why didn’t it take father instead?”
“...”
“I miss you, mum…”
For a time, all that he could hear was the rain. The rhythmic pitter patter of the drops on the stone drowned out most of the background noises.
But not all of them.
His eyes snapped open at the sound of a couple pebbles clattering onto the cobblestones of the castle wall he stood on.
“Who’s there?” he growled shakily, flaring his wings slightly in an attempt to act more threatening than he felt.
Silence greeted him.
“... I know you’re there,” he muttered, narrowing his eyes in the direction that the sound had come from. The shadows tugged themselves away from the side of the castle, swirling into a mist around his claws. That is, all but one of them. But this one was… different.
It looked like a hazy shroud of black fog. Though he couldn’t be sure. Whenever he tried to look straight at it, there was only a gaping void where the cloud would reside. The rain seemed to pass right through it. The aura it gave off was… unsettling.
Squall took a step back from the strange thing, shivering. He felt as if someone were running their fingers up and down his spine.
“W… who are you?”
Silence.
“What are you?”
Silence.
“W-what do you want from me?”
The thing seemed to look up. Two red slits opened on what he would call the front of the creature. Squall trembled as he realized that they were eyes. The thing was looking straight at him. Ever so slowly, a crimson slash rent itself open under the eyes. It was smiling at him.
Squall wanted to flee. To move. To scream. But it had him paralyzed.
The thing tilted its “head” at him.
“The better question isss… what do you want, young princcce?” it asked. Its voice was like a breeze that rustles through the dry branches of trees long dead.
“Wh-wh…”
The thing let out a wheeze that could pass for a chuckle before gliding over to him. It circled around him, caressing his cheek with a foggy tendril.
“Do you not know what I am?”
“Y… you’re a pcoumo,” he choked out, finding his voice. “W-we aren’t supposed to g-go near your kind.”
“Ohh… that’s simply not true.” The pcoumo’s “grin” widened. “They’re all just afraid of what we can give them…”
“And w-what is that?”
“Anything your heart desires, my young prince…”
Its movements were almost hypnotic.
“You… you can give me my mum back…?”
“Ah… that, i’m afraid not even we can return to you… But we can offer you something different…”
“What?” he asked, voice breaking, “Wh-what else does my heart desire b-besides my mum c-coming back?”
The pcoumo stopped in its tracks. Its crimson eyes glinted, reflecting off the puddles of rain on the ground.
“We can give you power. More power than you can imagine.”
Squall paused, his breath caught in his throat. But the thing seemed to know what he was going to ask.
It smiled.
“Even more than that of your f a t h e r .”
Squall stared at it. His face was blank, but his mind was racing. His mother had warned him about these things. She’d said they would ruin him if he let them into his mind.
But she was gone.
He already felt ruined.
There’s only one way to go now.
Up.
He straightened up. Yellow eyes flashing, he held out his hand.
“Give me the power that you speak of.”
The pcoumo’s grin grew wider, and its tendrils curled up his arm.
“Good choice.”
Then, there was a scream.
There was silence.
And there was bitter laughter.
Prince Squall of Nthenda was on his way to taking back what was his.
And in time, what was his would lose its luster.
He would want more.
More subjects.
More land to rule over.
More resources that he could hold over his enemies’ heads.
More power to fill the void that everyone had torn into him.
The void that was being held open by the pcoumo within him.
The void that could not be filled, because he had nobody to fall on.
