> Another night, another mind numbingly boring shift completed. Aside from the angry people upset at the upcharged milk, as if you could set the damn prices.
> You traipse down the same path you’ve taken more than a hundred times, barely paying any attention to where you’re going. There’s some people here and there, but you can easily avoid walking into them without having to rely on future you saying how to avoid a black eye.
> You breeze by an open alleyway, then pause at the sound of violent clattering coming from within it. You hesitate a moment, then double back to chance a look down it. Against your better judgment, you feel at least safe enough to call out:
“///Yo, anyone dy/ng slowly back there /n some manner of cl/che?“
“///L/ke, d/d you get shot /n a mugg/ng? /s battroll be/ng hatched?”

> At an intersection, waiting for the “WALK” sign to flick on, you impatiently tap your feet. There’s basically no traffic, but you completely refuse to cross any crosswalks until the signal turns.
> You tried doing that once and got an enormously painful premonition, and that was more than you’ll ever want to experience again.
> You roll a sleeve on your jacket back to check the time on your watch as you vaguely note someone passing by you.
> A car barrels around the corner, engine roaring. A brownblood at the wheel, you think as you squint towards the noise. Several cars chase after him, all of them gunning for the crosswalk.
> Your gaze jumps to the person who started crossing, who looks up in time to see one of the cars as it slams into them with a sickening thud.
> Your eyes snap back into focus as the person moves ahead of you.
> ...Yeah, you should probably at least try here.
“///Woah, buddy, hold on there!”
> You reach out to lightly grab at their shoulder, already anticipating them trying to shank you for possibly startling them.
“///Can’t you see the l/ght? Wa/t your turn l/ke. Uh. Good /mper/al c/t/zens do?”
> You think you can already hear the revving of engines in the distance.

“///Bad /dea.“
> The remark slips out of your mouth as the vision fade from your eyes. You look to the troll next to you near the food truck you’ve been waiting at. The line is pretty damn long, but the wait would be worth it.
> ‘Best wraps in the city’ might be a bit of a stretch, but you liked to come here on your lunch break. That’s how you ended up looking at someone about to do something either perilously stupid or unknowingly risky.
“///You got that look /n your eyes, you know. /'m tell/ng you, you don't wanna do that.“
> Your tone is polite and friendly, even if you know what they may yet do would still end in disaster.
