frankly as a japanese american i find the attempt at localization to dumb down japanese names or media to things simpler or more stereotypical is honestly rlly annoying to me. Like just learn how to pronounce the full name in romaji it doesn't take that much more effort. Namida -> Nami is stupid, i rest my case.

someone in the tags of the localized splat band posts is saying to embrace the names to avoid the weeb resistance, but as the poster of that i will clarify that i am Japanese, and i'm telling everyone who knows about it, to laugh about the localization and just ignore it. It is not weab resistance to listen to me boy.
