Your nimbasa trio se au makes me wanna watch soul eater. I have tried watching that anime three times already and never got past the fifth episode. Will your au be powerful enough to make me focus (probably)

AWW hell yeah!! To be honest I do recommend reading it (some of the stuff I referenced in my original drawings of them are manga only actually :3c) but I also think it’s a great watch for the music and top notch animation. It’s not for everyone and you really do need to be able to put up with a certain level of Gross Anime Bullshit (esp if you read it; it’s not constant but when it’s there, It’s There…) but personally I really enjoy it for the style and characters.

Also, I might recommend “Soul Eater Not!”, a spinoff manga. The idea of a 2-weapon-1-Meister team was lifted directly from there, because I enjoyed the dynamic so much.

Happy to hear people are still diggin that au! I have a lot more lore and notes I never actually finished drawing, maybe I should… Lots of great questions in my inbox about it I’d like to answer. Perhaps I could be persuaded…

nimbasa trio soul eater au yippee!!! wanted to take a spin at designing them as a 2 meister 1 weapon team like the trio in SE Not. dont ask me to elaborate on the mechanics of this weapon i literally cant

How did the lords Death meet Elesa?

Was it after she became a fully realized death scythe or was that something they achieved together?

the three of them met while elesa was still in her first year at DWMA! she was struggling to form a pair w/ any meisters cause none of them really like...... understood how to fight in sync w/ her or properly utilize her weapon form

meanwhile on ingo and emmet's side, they struggled to resonate with any of the already established death scythes in the service of their progenitor due to their unique soul situation (this is because of the nature of their creation but i will get more into that in another ask answer bc its a TANGENT here)

drayden saw a student w/ a unique weapon form struggling to work w/ a single meister and his sons struggling to work with multiple weapons and he was like well. lets try this. the rest is history :-)

Yo so like I wonder maybe Elesa as a weapon can snap in half and they both have half a whip and then as a final weapon they slap the whip together and rope the enemy and electrocute it?

she can yep! it can detach at the like, diamond shaped clasp in the middle. b/c elesa is also a fully realized death scythe she has a lot of control in modifying the shape of her weapon form on the spot as well so whenever they are using them independently she can sharpen the halves of the clasps to a tip. like so

however like. the way the three of them work.... theyre supposed to sort of be like a positive-negative circuit (with emmet like a positive terminal, ingo like a negative terminal, and elesa as the circuit between them). when she fights as a single weapon (literally "grounding" by having that direct link from one meister to the other), its much easier to keep all 3 of their soul wavelengths in sync and harmonious.

The longer she fights as two separate weapons, the higher the risk gets that her wavelength tries to align more with either ingo or emmets (which in turn would make her clash with the other one), instead of sort of tuning both of their wavelength inputs and equalizing them all. and uhh....... weapon elesa has a LOT of electricity running through her, so if the circuit breaks and ur wavelength becomes unaligned with hers. well

Can one of the twins use Elesa in battle without the other one? Or does their wavelength not mesh well without all three of them?

touched on this issue a little bit in this ask when talking about elesa, emmet, and ingo's struggles to find a partner to work with, but def more can be said about this specific configuration.

so, like-- short answer is yessssss kinda? longer answer yes but it is not advisable and they would not typically choose to. emmet and ingo are actually two halves of the same fragment of the previous Death (which is an unusual way of creating an heir as opposed to creating one from a single fragment). As such they both have really abnormal soul wavelengths that neither of them have a lot of control over in terms of like, modulating it. their wavelengths are super erratic and like... overpowering? instead of letting their weapons act of amplifiers, they tend to unintentionally engulf their partner's souls. while they CAN technically fight like this, resonance is pretty much impossible and it tends to put extreme strain on their weapons.

elesa works so well with the both of them bc emmet and ingo's erratic soul wavelengths basically cancel each other out when she serves as a direct link between the two. rejoining the two halves of the fragment, so to speak. as briefly mentioned here, when physically separated she gets pulled by that overpowering wavelength until she eventually breaks from one or the other. so, when working with only one of them, she's 100% subject to being engulfed by their weird weird soul wavelengths (which very much sucks for her/can hurt her). the twins don't really want to do it either bc obv they don't want to hurt their friend.
