With Nilu Phule, the legendary actor who today probably leads marathi virals/memes esp 'baai wadyaawar yaa', the guy who made people (especially women) shake with fear (read as shit in the pants) with his incredible villainous roles, so much that when he was admitted in a hospital the nurses refused to come close to him; he had to explain to them that he is not the bad guy he plays on screen. Nilu Phule unknown to many was an extremely gentle, well behaved person. He has done a lot of charitable work silently and it surpasses the kinds of what we hear celebs do today. I met him multiple times but had this only photo opportunity on the sets on marathi movie 'Shandhayug'. I was actually myself scared as well to go near him since this was my first meeting back in 1995 but he made me comfortable talking with me about general things, asking about my school life and sharing his memories. The most hated face by the audience in theatre & TV screens Hence the Most all-time successful Villian in Marathi Cinema till today He acted in almost 250 films. it's his Seventh death anniversary. A great actor and Follower Of Mahatma Jotiba Phule And Dr.B.R. Ambedkar — Nilu Phule. We pay homage to him. Nilubhau was born in OBC family, he was from the clan of Mahatma Jotiba Phule, he was a Truthseeker till the day he passed away. On-screen, he was a Villain, but Personally, He was such a humble person he made people forget that he was such a Legendary celebrity, His lifestyle and his approach to connecting with people was like a simple human being. He started his living as a laboring gardener in Armed Forces Medical college garden, participated in the Anti- British freedom movement, and became a leading activist in Rashtra Sewa Dal a social organization. He wanted to pursue his gardening career forward, but due to lack of financial support, he could not start his own plant nursery.

Nilu Phule began his theatrical career with the Marathi folk performances (Lok-Natya). His first professional drama was 'Katha Akalecha Kandyachi', which went on to have over 2000 shows. It was based on this success that he was offered his first movie 'Ek Gaav Baara Bhanagadi' in 1968.

Nilu Phule often played villains; most notably his portrayal of Sakharam Binder. Some of his notable film roles include 'Hindurao Dhonde Patil', a zamindar and a sugar tycoon in 'Samna' (film), a power-drunk politician in 'Saaransh' (film) and a political journalist in 'Sinhasan' (film).

He also played the role of 'Nathu Mama' in 1983 hit Hindi movie 'Coolie' where he worked with Amitabh Bachchan.

One of Phule's most notable theatrical performances includes his role as the eponymous hero of Vijay Tendulkar's Sakharam Binder (first staged in 1972).

He was known for his legendary voice and dialogue delivery. His dialogues in his films remain one of the most popular dialogues across Marathi Film Industry. It is said that his acting in villainous roles in movies was so surreal that women in real life would despise him thinking that he was the same deviant person in real life too, and that was a great compliment to his works.

In May 2013, when Forbes India, the Indian edition of American Business Magazine Forbes, declared 25 Greatest Acting Performances of Indian Cinema, the list was completed with this legend's name for his performance as Hindurao Dhonde Patil in the film 'Samna' (film).
