I’m gonna do furinas story quest tomorrow and based on the communities reaction I’m probably going to want to stick aether and paimon into a blender

Like I understand the traveler isn’t the player but I don’t like being forced to be an asshole, and I genuinely care about every character I encounter so the dissonance is going to piss me off

Honestly the traveler has started to dissapoint me more as a character as time goes on, cause like do they give a shit about others or not (please pick the give a shit option), and it doesn’t really feel like a consistent decline into not giving a fuck, it feels like a lightswitch constantly flipping between caring and not caring

also I’m never forgiving traveler for how they treated Jeht and her father in both desert quests (fuck you niloupar ugly ass bitch)

well ... it's definitely ayaka . though alhaitham is still on my multi and i love him but don't think i give him justice compared to so many wonderful ones here . my other favorite who i just love overall is fischl . i wrote her briefly on an old multi yeaaars ago . she still holds a special place in my heart .

Is there any fandom that you regret exploring?

oh .. haha . well .... i lowkey regret the bigger fandoms sometimes like marvel and star wars . granted , i did meet some wonderful people there and one of my bestest friends is from star wars ( @inkbloodcd this shoutout is for you !! ) but dang ... it was insanity there too . people were vicious and if you didn't have a backbone you'd get trampled . i think it's gotten better since i was in it , but i don't have a desire to go back .

favourite fictional character : this is an unfair question lololol ummm! if I had to pick one from Genshin, it's not actually Alhaitham, funnily enough haha. I relate to him and enjoy him immensely, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Wanderer or Nahida without a doubt. From Fire Emblem, it's easily Claude von Reigen, no doubt at all. Those are sort of my focus right now, so I'll just leave it at them. :)

Loved the post about the new desert quests and I agree. The writing feels like they’re ramping up for something that feels impractical to execute. Niloupar’s story confused the hell out of me ngl, but the most annoying bit for me was the direction their taking with the traveler. I know they’re supposed to have so much of plot armor but the entirety of sumeru felt like they’re beginning to lay on the (like you said) “traveler is perfect” route, which, in addition to the fact that they don’t say anything of importance at all, felt very impersonal (?). Like at least the other regions (even inazuma and it’s shortcomings) felt like the traveller’s actions meant something? Side note, I’m very glad that the other characters are each getting their arcs and characters fleshed out better than the other regions (imo) but it feels very lackluster for the player and I don’t know why?

I hope the dain quest for this region will make up for it, and I hope Fontaine will be as heavy as all the in-game hints are making it up to be.

It's just a world quest, so I think this isn't going anywhere particularly interesting. We'll just see Babel's machinations fall through and the eternal oasis will finally collapse, ending the sandstorm.

In general, it's obvious that Genshin doesn't know how to handle the traveler. They're a self-insert for interacting with the waifus, so they can't have any personality or flaws, which also means they can't have any meaningful relationships. Shenhe, Xiao, Ayaka, etc all just simp for you because you're the MC, but your interactions are very shallow because otherwise the audience might disagree with something or have too much trouble projecting. But at the same time, the Traveler has a specific backstory and personal motivations, which additionally don't work well with the story they wrote. The Traveler's personality is also somewhat inconsistent, depending on whether the writers want you to be edgy and ruthless or if they need you to be an all-loving do-gooder to explain why you're even involved in the current story.

I would disagree that your actions in Inazuma meant anything. You were, bluntly, just an empty vessel for others to act through. YOU don't defeat Ei, she wipes the floor with you and then the combined ghosts(?) will(?) of Inazuma people defeat her through you. YOU don't say anything meaningful to her, Yae does. The entire plan to deal with the Commissions and Raiden is Yae's. You're just the convenient pawn to execute it. Your captain swordfish nonsense at Watatsumi is outright meaningless. Heck, it's Kazuha who gets the big dramatic (unfounded) moment of actually deflecting Raiden's ultimate attack. That's kind of why two entire acts are spent just faffing around - Yae is the one actually doing everything, she's not in the story yet.

When you go on to Ei's story quests, you tour her around the city, but she's already thought things through herself. All her development is actually off-screen, and you're just a doll for her to cute waifu toward. You outright don't exist in her relevant confrontations with the Shogun puppet, as Ei does all the fighting herself, twice. You think you have something to contribute as a twin missing their other half? lol dream on, that requires actual writing.

Liyue is even more ridiculous, since nothing you do matters in the least. You're literally useless. All funeral preparations could be done by anyone. Ningguang sending you on an errand was pointless, since it doesn't stop or hinder the Fatui. Fighting Childe achieves nothing, since he still just finds out there's no gnosis and proceeds with his plan. Even getting falsely accused doesn't do anything, since the adepti would still find out Rex Lapis was dead and react the same way. And of course, the adepti are all right there when Osial is revived, you fighting the Fatui is just a gameplay nicety, and it's the Jade Chamber that seals him away again, not you. You're just a tourist getting carted around for big set pieces you achieve nothing in.

They just generally have an issue where the Traveler is endlessly shilled as so cool, so strong, so smart, so kind, but they can't actually have the Traveler do anything and they need to sell the new 5 stars. Cue getting rescued two dozen times by whoever is on rate up next.

imo Sumeru's character writing is not particularly improved either. They wrote more scenes of the characters, but their actual characterization is exactly the same (bad) as before.

Cyno? We learn nothing meaningful about him throughout, and his quest doesn't have him give one single emotional reaction. You know who emotes in his quest? His NPC former partner, and another NPC reacting to his former partner defecting. These two randos do not appear before or after this quest.

Nilou? Her presence in the archon quest is basically just cameos, to the point where her story quest directly rehashes the situation of the archon quest but now we have to address it... via an NPC's relationship with her father. Nilou is just kind of there... as the audience stand-in... while the Traveler is standing to the side... We're now three characters removed from the actually meaningful situation.

Nahida? She literally doesn't get characterized beyond "CAGED BIRD METAPHOR" and "she's a good archon, we promise." You never interact with her outside of her knowing things she refuses to tell you but she sends you on errands to find out. Her quest is entirely about NPCs again, who have no meaningful emotional reflection on Nahida herself. (Nahida doesn't understand grief... and this doesn't change, nor do we address the one way in which she might have experienced grief.)

I haven't done Alhaitham yet, but lol. His entire thing is that he's like Kazuha, utterly lacking in actual character. He explicitly has no goals, ambitions, interests, or interpersonal relationships. (except kaveh, i guess) So there's literally nothing to talk about in regard to him.

Out of my entire muse list I'd say the friendliest is either Bennett or Sero as they are the two who are the most likely to engage with others and be approachable and genuine in the friendliness by default. A lot of my muses either will give an impression of friendly but are using it as a mask or are just straight up not friendly or friendly to those they've let in.

18. Which muse would you like to develop more that you haven’t?

Alhaitham is certainly a muse I want to spend more time on. He's the one I added because he was my clear Sumeru favourite and have used here and there but don't actively offer as an interaction choice too often and should probably change that!

While her sentiments are appreciated, what Thoma finds himself studying are borders beyond the conversation itself. It was an old technique he's often found his teacher within the Swiftshatter School implementing, gaining the deeper wisdom on such acts as he grew older. There's details that physical actions could only explain whereas wordplay was simply destined to fail.

Meek and modest to a point, that's an initial deal that comes to the aspect of Nilou, yet he learns how that betrays a deeper bravery tucked within bones and blood until an occasion genuinely calls for it.

What's unearthed as a more golden truth would be the way that dancing calls to her. How all the idling motions made from glances towards nature, pondering within her mind, it all diminishes akin to flowing dust once this subject comes into mind. What strikes the wandering soul as curious would be the particular conditions of when it thrives.

'Could she have been born in the desert.. Holding ancestry there? Night time in itself is a preference I imagine, but there have been many, many times where the moon enacted itself as a catalyst. I've heard some astrologers find their readings the most accurate then.. As if it's some sort of calling.'

Maybe this could work. Unorthodox as it may be, sticking to what sings within her soul feels like the best answer.

The transition towards the brook would be quick enough. A sizable, mildly mossy rock being Thoma's place to lean against as spring fresh rivers of Sumeru. Unlike other nations, the land of verdure and wisdom held a distinct sensation of spirit when it came to certain bodies of nature; it was akin to a breath so fresh that it felt alien.

As if it was meant to protect from the malady that once plagued it heavily.

"While we're certainly missing some of the conditions that you love most, could this suffice in the name of a request I have?"

"I'd personally like to see one of your dances firsthand. ..Ah! Not like to get some ahead of time viewing of a show here-" He quickly adds in, hands raised. It'd certainly be rude to cut into business from that perspective.

"What you said really just struck a chord. So I figured, how about we discover these new zones with the art that feels natural to you? Let's have you see the world through your movement."

"A bit, but I think it suits you," She complimented, smiling as she gazed back from the Vision to him. The mention of it has her directing her own attention to her own that sat atop her bow sash on the back of her waist. It mostly went forgotten until Nilou would either have to change her ensemble or use its abilities.

Nilou listened intently, a distinct feeling of empathy following his words. Everyone tended to have their own ideals that surrounded Visions and why they were given out. There are always stories that follow the experiences, every one different than the other. She tried to offer a supportive smile, "I can't say the same for myself. I got mine right after my first performance."

The memory lingered a bit, fondness finding its way into her thoughts as she recollected experience. As surprised as she had been when she found it, she was grateful for it nonetheless. Even though it had been years since she'd received it, her gratitude for it was as prominent as ever. However, his beckoning snapped her from her reminiscing. "Oh, sure!" She called after, finding herself needing to catch up a bit.

The surrounding scenery was all too familiar to her, having taken the route a few times when she ventured out of the city periodically. Though it never failed to put her at ease. Rather than sitting, she glanced over at a nearby stream. That would make a good practice spot, she'd have to keep the place in mind for future ventures.

The question pulled her from her distractions, "Oh, definitely dancing," She answered with little hesitation. Though after she thought about it for a moment, that probably sounded a bit dull. Words hadn't always been her best method of expressing what she meant.

"I guess I should describe that a little better," Nilou laughed softly, a hand coming to scratch the back of her neck. "I guess I can't say I have a specific way of composing myself, but when I dance, I become so immersed in what I'm doing, I just feel at ease again. Especially when I'm outside among the oases in the desert, or at night when the world is bathed in moonlight."

Nilou caught herself rambling, another laugh escaping her lips, "I hope that makes sense."

"But you're right," The dancer nodded, "I can't say I've always been the most daring person, but trying new things can be exhilarating though daunting. It can be a good thing to go out of your comfort zone from time to time."
