Porto 2 Ch R2: Daniel Cukierman/Piotr Matuszewski [2] def. Adrian Andreev/Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo 6-2, 6-3 Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 ATP official website
It was a complete domination from D. Cukierman/P. Matuszewski despite the momentum slip in the second half. This time, through some balance from their forehand side, they brought Adrian/N. Sanchez Izquierdo's balance off right from the start, considering how frequent the latter erred. This way, they converted 5 out of 8 break points compared to Adrian/N. Sanchez Izquierdo's 33% break point conversion rate, which came from the second set.
Besides, D. Cukierman/P. Matuszewski also had more solid service games. Scoring 2 aces than Adrian/N. Sanchez Izquierdo's 0, they won 73% of their first serve points. Interestingly, the second seeds won 2% more second serve points compared to the first with a 75% percentage, leaving the unseeded pair's second serves the most vulnerable with a 40% winning rate.
In the semifinals, which will be played 2 timeslots after D. Cukierman's singles quarterfinals match, they will face Franco Agamenone/Santiago Rodriguez Taverna, who defeated Mats Hermans/Bruno Pujol Navarro 6-4, 6-2 in also a straightforward match. This could be intriguing to see how their point construction goes, with both court coverage and how they handle some pressing moments. This could also be a fun match!

The start of the second set turned out to be a chaos as Adrian/N. Sanchez Izquierdo's smash paved the way before some errors from D. Cukierman/P. Matuszewski resulted in the unseeded pair's break of serve to 2-0, but a working volley on top of the former's erratic service game allowed the latter pair to break back to 2-1. By then, D. Cukierman/P. Matuszewski leveled the play with a service game hold to 2-2.
The second seeds then started the seventh game with a working smash as they tried to approach more aggressively, where they ended up breaking Adrian/N. Sanchez Izquierdo's service game to 4-3. After strengthening their position with a service game hold to 5-3, they began the next game with a volley finish to put themselves a point ahead, and while the unseeded pair's double fault somewhere did not help, D. Cukierman/P. Matuszewski still broke for the match as they took the second set 6-3 to secure their spot in the semifinals.

The doubles action in the Porto 2 Challenger then carried on with second seeds Daniel Cukierman/Piotr Matuszewski, who knocked out all-British pair James Davis/Scott Duncan 6-3, 7-6(3) in what evolved to be a tight encounter, took on Adrian Andreev/Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo a day before D. Cukierman took on A. Andreev in the singles quarterfinals, as the latter pair defeated David Jorda Sanchis/Ergi Kirkin 5-7, 6-3, [10-2] in the first round. While parts of the setup could also be chaotic, their range consistency ended up being tested in general.
To start, a working volley from D. Cukierman/P. Matuszewski set up their one-point lead before they broke to 1-0 after creating their break point through a working volley, followed by a consolidation to 2-0. They then started the next game from D. Cukierman's forehand winner before doubling the break to 3-0, directly following it up with a service game hold to 4-0.
Since then, the second seeds had not looked back as they ended up dominating the flow. It took several more games before they earned the opportunity to serve for the first set, where even though their set point was foiled due to a forehand error, they still took the first set 6-2 as they dominated this part of the match.

Karlsruhe Ch QF: Daniel Cukierman/Daniel Dutra da Silva def. Daniel Rincon/Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo 6-3, 6-3 Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 ATP official website
Rincon/N. Sanchez Izquierdo had their brief moments in the first set, but Cukierman/D. Dutra da Silva hit slightly harder (and more precisely) in setting up the next game, maintaining their aggression until they closed both sets as they set the flow in their favor. This way, they created 9 break points compared to the Spanish pair's 6, converting 44% of their break points (2 from each set) as they broke/broke back to set the lead before breaking for each set to seal the match as solidly as possible.
Besides, the Daniel double also appeared more solid on their serves. Scoring 3 aces, they won 5% more of their first serve points compared to the Spanish pair's 58% to get themselves out of some pressing moments, including facing several break points along the way. Interestingly, the former won 2% more second serve points compared to their first with a 65% percentage, 15% more than Rincon/N. Sanchez Izquierdo, who, despite only double-faulting once, had more vulnerable second serves due to being unforced-error prone in some crucial moments.
In the upcoming semifinals match, the Daniel double will face second seeds Dan Added/Gregoire Jacq, who defeated Rudolf Molleker/Denis Yevseyev right after this match 6-7(6), 6-3, [10-5] in an extremely competitive match. This could be a tricky encounter for both pairs, considering the importance of their pacing and point construction, but nothing seemed impossible as they take the field later on. Should be an exciting watch coming shortly!

The second set then started with 5 consecutive holds before N. Sanchez Izquierdo struck again with his cross-court forehand before the Daniel double holding to 3-3 even if the latter survived break points midway in either of the first 6 games. They then started the next game by Daniel (Dutra da Silva)'s working smash, followed by a backhand error from N. Sanchez Izquierdo before a +1 volley error from Rincon, to his dismay, set up the break point. Ultimately, even though they saved it through 2 unreturned serves, it was insufficient as another forehand misfired too far from N. Sanchez Izquierdo secured them the break of serve to 4-3.
Subsequently, the Daniel double held their serves to 5-3. Somehow, they started the next game with a forehand return ace from Daniel (Dutra da Silva), which was continued by Cukierman's cross-court backhand winner to set their 2-point lead before having a match point a point later. Even though 2 of the match points were saved, a forehand that went too far from the Spaniard was caught out before it was even responded, which converted the match point for the Daniel double to 6-3, as well as securing their semifinal spot.

After finally finishing their first-round doubles match yesterday (local time) convincingly against wild cards Justin Engel/Lasse Poertner 6-4, 6-2, Daniel Cukierman/Daniel Dutra da Silva set up a rare meeting that involved 3 people with the same first name, as they faced Daniel Rincon/Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo, who stunned third seeds Ivan Liutarevich/Sergio Martos Gornes 7-6(2), 6-4 in a more thrilling encounter back in the first round. While the margin also appeared thin in this match, it came down to several shots that determined the rest of the flow.
It all started at the third game, where Rincon perfectly volleyed his way for a one-point lead before Daniel (Dutra da Silva)'s forehand errors (earlier and afterward), including a double fault, secured Rincon/N. Sanchez Izquierdo's break of serve to 2-1. The latter then consolidated to 3-1, and they had a working forehand winner somewhere to start the next game even if the Daniel double held their serves to 3-2.
The next game started with Daniel (Dutra da Silva)'s forehand return ace before they capitalized on Rincon/N. Sanchez Izquierdo's succeeding errors to break back 3-3, somehow strengthening their position with a service game hold (4-3) despite being 0-30 down due to a working fourth-shot volley from Rincon. They then broke back to 5-3 after Daniel (Dutra da Silva) passed N. Sanchez Izquierdo's volley side to set up their 2-point lead despite having 2 of their break points saved due to the latter's forehand error. The Daniel double then earned the opportunity to serve for the first set, which they did despite surviving a forehand return ace from N. Sanchez Izquierdo and Cukierman's +1 forehand error to take the first set 6-3.

Girona Ch SF: Radu Albot def. Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo [LL] 6-4, 6-2 Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 ATP official website
Right from the setup, Albot already pressed Sanchez Izquierdo's baseline game as he went after the latter's backhands before injecting his own pace, scoring several notable shot winners in between as a form of his offensives. Sanchez Izquierdo tried to absorb the pace earlier on as evident from his break points (4, all of those came from the first set), but he could not keep up with the said pace as Albot regained the rhythm in time to fire a forehand winner as a conclusion to the first set. Since then, Albot appeared firmer in his aggression, which helped him to convert 67% of 6 break points throughout both sets.
Furthermore, Albot also appeared solid on serve despite conceding just one service game by the end of the first set. Even though both players did not score any aces, the Moldovan still managed to win 11% more points from his first serves with a 66% percentage, and he turned out to have a fairly consistent service games as he also had an equivalent percentage from his second serves (66%). On the other hand, Sanchez Izquierdo had a more vulnerable second serve as he only won!47% of his second serve points, worsened by his 2 double faults, both of those came in the middle of the second set as a cause of Albot's early break.
Appearing in his first Challenger final since the Busan Challenger 2022 runner-up, as well as a clay Challenger final since the Poznan Challenger 2016, Albot will face a resurgent Pedro Martinez, who just defeated an in-form Benjamin Hassan 6-4, 7-5 in a more solid showing as the former foiled one chance to serve for the match earlier on. A possibly intriguing match-up to see how their point construction fares against each other, particularly as the emphasis to balance become crucial. Should be a fun final as well for the day!

Albot's point construction capabilities then continued in setting up the second set, where his final forehand, which turned out to be in, secured a crucial one-point lead before having his break point initially foiled by Sanchez Izquierdo's volley, but it was insufficient as the former still broke early to 2-1. After consolidating the lead to 3-1, in a similar manner where both players tried to go deep from the baseline, Sanchez Izquierdo had a working volley to force the first deuce as he saved the earliest break point, but either player still had to undergo the forever deuce situation.
By the end of that game, Albot was proven to build better points as he doubled the break (4-1) as the court opened, leaving a room for Albot's final volley after firing a drop shot to Sanchez Izquierdo's preceding volley. It took two consecutive holds later before Albot earned his chance to serve for the match, which he ultimately did to take the second set 6-2, eventually securing his first Challenger final appearance since 2022.
