14 and 22 for creator's ask?
Hiii! Thank you <3
14. Are there any new characters/fandoms/subjects you started creating for during the last year? Do you remember what made you get into them?
Yes, there are! 2023 was definitely the year where I most ventured into different fandoms.
There were all the days of our delights, I know I shouldn't love you and Through the Dark Glass for The Magnus Archives. I've been obsessed with TMA since 2021, and I actually had wrote a small ficlet for it in an exchange before, but those three were truly mine, with my favourite characters and pairs. I think it was trully a matter of finding the right inspiration at the right time: TMA appreciation week and Jonelias week as well as joining a discord server made the kick.
I wrote something for Wolf 359 for the first time and this was 100% because I relistened to it this year and realised this is my favourite podcast ever. Also I started shipping Minlace extra hard and wondering about Dominik Koudelka and how would he feel about Minlace and thus, this fic was born.
I also wrote my first TROP (and Tolkien!) fic ever. And well, what can I say, I was obsessed with Saurondriel ever since the reveal. Also the fandom was so welcoming and creative that it really encouraged me to write something.
I also wrote a romantic cannibalism fic. Which is a subject I find really interesting and writing something was a combination of listening to the Mabel podcast, reading The Locked Tomb, plus realising how well this goes with Twissy.
22. Are there any challenges/gift exchanges/etc you participated in last year? Which one was your favourite?
Technically, I already answered 22 here, but if I expand a bit on "etc", from the fics linked above, three were written for celebratory weeks (I know I shouldn't love you, Through the Dark Glass and Yestarë) and one for the Doctor/Master anon kink meme (you would be delphinium on my tongue). And, ugh, that's a tough call, but I think Yestarë is my favourite. It's poetic in a very direct way and spans a lot of time and feelings in few words, but I think they were well chosen.
Thanks again for your ask!

Weird Questions for Writers - 25 & 39
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
Most recently, I plotted someone's AU-version's entire life story (jobs, relationships, life milestones, childhood dreams) for what's shaping up to be a fic made up of very short vignettes and none of that will get used. But I like having it clear and I think sometimes you can tell when short concepts-only fics have glimpses of something meatier behind them.
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
I love to talk it through with someone! It helps me recapture the feeling that was there in the first place. Alternative: I do something else for a while then return to the doc with fresh eyes. It seems clichè but I really like my stuff more after taking a break from overthinking it. Even this kind of asks really help because I still get to talk through what I'm plotting

1, 16, 22, for creator's ask?
1. Which work of the past year are you proudest of? Can you pinpoint why?
I haven't shared it publicly yet, but I'm very proud of my Neocities.
I decided I wanted to design the site from scratch, without using a template or a static site generator, and it's coming along nicely despite the fact that six months ago I didn't know a lick of CSS.
It also feels like mine—more so than my Tumblr or even my AO3 account, this site feels like My Little Corner Of The Internet.
16. Is there a subject/character/show you wish you had created more for? Why do you think you didn't?
Hm, I don't think so? I think of my creative process as a funnel, where at the uppermost level you have inklings, ideas, plot bunnies, &c and at the very bottom you have finished polished works, and between them the spectrum of various stages of completion. There will always be fewer and fewer works as you move down the funnel, because that's just the nature of creativity for me; there will always be ideas that are never more than ideas. I'm okay just daydreaming about some stuff.
…I say that, but now I'm thinking of all the Willow-and-Amity-as-metamours fic I never wrote because I moved on to the Amphibia fandom a while ago. Rip.
22. Are there any challenges/gift exchanges/etc you participated in last year? Which one was your favourite?
No, I am so bad at doing anything on a deadline. I learned this when I tried and failed to write for Yuletide a few years ago. Plausibly I'd do better with a different medium than fiction; I kind of want to try making an AMV for a non-medium-specific exchange at some point.

I was a bit nervous starting this appreciation week, since this was the first time I've ever hosted one of these, but I was absolutely blown away by the response, and the talent that this fandom has. It was so much fun seeing everybody's creations, and the creative ways some of the prompts were interpreted. The love and adoration for the source material just poured out, and I loved every minute of it.
Thank you to everyone who participated, whether you did all days or one, you all made it such a rewarding experience. I had planned to link all the wonderful creations here, but we created so much that tumblr won't allow that many links in a post, so instead you can find them all here. Go check them all out, see if there's any you missed, give them all some love.

🌹
Thank you! 😊
This is something as of yet unnamed I'm hoping to get done for TMA Appreciation Week in August:
Gerard's official job description is “book handler”, whatever that is supposed to mean. The one time Jon asked his boss what was Gerards deal, Elias had scoffed, saying he was “one of Gertrude’s creatures.” “If he’s a ‘Gertrude creature’," Jon replied, "Why didn’t he go with her to her when she left the bookstore?” “Because Gerard deals with books, Jon,” Elias answers him, impatiently. "What good would he do outside a bookstore?"
Send me a 🌹 and I’ll share a random sentence from a random WIP

13 books
(Thank GODS I'm reading again as those asks were really embarrassing for a few years)
What’s up readers?! How about a little show and tell? Answer these 13 questions, tag 13 lucky readers and if you’re feeling extra bookish add a shelfie! Let’s Go!
(I was tagged by @jikanet-tanaka - thanks so much!)
1) The Last book I read:
Babel by R. F. Kuang (Go read it people, it's So Good. <3)
2) A book I recommend:
Babel as above, hah. Also, Murderbot.
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
(Hard same:) Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. I was listening to them as audibooks at night until some stupid AM. Couldn't stop, wouldn't stop.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
"Eureka Street" by Robert McLiam Wilson. I love this book so much.
5) A book on my TBR:
Oh dear. What isn't on my TBR list.
The Poppy War, R. F. Kuang. Dune, finally. Olga Tokarczuk books I bought errr a year ago. Etc etc etc
6) A book I’ve put down:
I haven't yet, but I think I'll give up on the Archive of the Forgotten I'm currently listening to. I finished the first audiobook (Library of the Unwritten), but for the second one the narrator changed, and with it, the voice of the character I'm most curious about and ARGH. I may try and get the physical book, but audiobooks are a godsend if I want to do some crafts and read at the same time.
7) A book on my wish list:
Everything else by Martha Wells that's not Murderbot
8) A favorite book from childhood:
The Children of Bullerbyn Village by Astrid Lindgren (among many many many others. I lived in books as a kid.)
9) A book you would give to a friend:
Murderbot my beloved! I've convinced a few people to read it and I couldn't be happier. Those books deserve all the love.
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own
Nic Dwa Razy / Nothing Twice by Wislawa Szymborska, translations by Clare Cavanagh and Stanislaw Baranczak
11) A nonfiction book you own:
Factfulness by Hans Rosling
12) What are you currently reading:
Archive of the Forgotten by A. J. Hackwith, with disclaimer above.
13) What are you planning on reading next?
The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, to find out where Netflix did it dirrrty. (I enjoyed the show a lot.)
Tagging @cahirdyffryns @softest-punk @powerofadyingsun @itsnotzka @nikita-not-nikola and anyone else who wants to talk about their books. <3

📚, 📑 , 🥨
📚 Who's your favourite author (or a few of them)?
Some TLT faves! bittybelle; raxheim @/theriverbeyond; darlingargents @/augustmourn; rnanqo @/rnanqo + SO MANY im forgetting rn
📑 How many drafts do you write on average?
Probably 3. First draft -> edited version that I usually upload on gdocs or on ao3 draft so I can read on a different-formatted screen and see if anything jumps out -> final draft after I've done that. If the fic is longer or more involved the number of drafts increases exponentially
🥨 Do you snack while writing?
Nooo! My focus is such a rare ephemeral thing I could never eat and write at the same time. alas
emoji ask game for writers!

13 books
Tagged by @nikita-not-nikola to answer 13 questions, and then tag 13 people. Thank you very much!
1) The last book I read:
Jasper Fforde's The Constant Rabbit - it's a very lampshadey sort of satire, quite witty, but by far not the best Jasper Fforde book I've read (that honour would go to the unfortunately named Shades of Grey)
2) A book I recommend:
Three Parts Dead by Max Gladstone - I've not seen a lot of chatter about the Craft Sequence around these parts, even though clever fantasy settings with unique worldbuilding and an ensemble cast of diverse characters (many of them queer) seem to be tumblr's jam. So I'll take this opportunity to go "That one! That's a good one!"
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
In a literal "read it cover to cover sense", I genuinely don't remember the last time that happened. Did that all the time as a kid, but I read in smaller chunks these days. In a "this was extremely captivating" sense, though, Harrow the Ninth was pretty riveting!
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
Recently, a lot of them! I've been decluttering my bookshelf so almost everything that's on there is getting a re-read. One of the many that truly deserved it, though, is China Miéville's Railsea.
5) A book on my TBR:
I've got my TBR down to only about 15-ish books, of which "Infect your Friends and Loved Ones" has been on there longest, but it seems a bit hard to find so it'll probably stay on there for a while.
6) A book I’ve put down:
I don't tend to put down books lightly. I usually struggle through them, then end up giving them a bad review :P The last DNF I remember was Sacred Pain: Hurting the Body for the Sake of the Soul. But that wasn't the book's fault, I was expecting a historical overview of pain used deliberately in spirituality and it was more about the philosophy/psychology of pain (and extremely densely written at that)
7) A book on my wish list:
Shubeik Lubeik by Deena Mohamed
8) A favorite book from childhood:
Alright, let's try to NOT go for the obvious here... The Neverending Story by Michael Ende (if you've seen the movie you really, really ought to read the book. The movie ends before all the most interesting plotlines in the book even START).
9) A book you would give to a friend:
I mean, depends on the friend, doesn't it? So, semi-random pick from my recent re-reads: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own
Oooh, I got this really neat book of German poetry for Christmas - Deutsche Gedichte - 1500 Gedichte von den Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart (does what it says on the tin, really).
11) A nonfiction book you own:
How To Invent Everything by Ryan North
12) What are you currently reading:
A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin
13) What are you planning on reading next?
I let a random number generator decide which book on my tbr pile I read next so no idea.
Alright, let's get to the tagging (no pressure, of course!): @lovethatcoat, @toasthaste, @autogeneity, @ante--meridiem, @soryualeksi, @bakomglaset, @deliciousghosts-unofficial, @shabbytigers, @octopuscato, @titaniumelemental and whoever else feels like doing this
