I had terribly long, wavy hair LOL. It was awful considering it always grew too fast (originally went down to my waist) and I had to keep cutting at it anytime it grew a bit too long for my liking.

Thankfully, thanks to that salon visit I have much shorter hair now :)

So...I have just red mer solarstone's story... (Just found it and had the time to read it)

How dare you make me cry 4-5 times/silly

And it is amazing!

I love it so much! And oh my god poor sols

And I got a couple of questions! :D

1. You mentioned Earth there, so I'm understanding she is a mer as well? (Mermaid 🌺 ;3) Who was the "darker" mer with her? Under the boat

2. Where did moonstones egg go? I notyit wasn't mentioned after the attack (rest in peace sunstone, we will miss you ❤️‍🩹)

3. Who was moonstone fighting at the end of his life? (Was it someone random or a specific character that you chose)

So to start with the fic was written by my good friend @erenevune who also made Sols! (I drew his design based on their description) and so i've allowed them to answer 2 and 3 of your questions which i have copy pasted from discord :D (If anyone hasn't read the fic yet, you can find it here!)

I can answer the first question though!

1. Earth is indeed a mer in the au as well yes! She and the 'mystery darker mer' with her have been in development for a while now and are going to be background characters for the au - i'll be posting art of them very soon so stay tuned ;)

2. Moonstone's egg was killed during the attack that killed Sunstone, despite their best efforts to protect both eggs Sunstone wasn't able to completely block off the attack and Moonstone's egg was the casualty. Though, thankfully, Sunstone died believing he had protected both eggs. Solstone barely survived, it was honestly pure luck Sunstone managed to save even one of them. It was likely either crushed or knocked so hard the baby mer inside was too injured to survive, and by the time Moonstone was able to find his egg it would have been too late to do anything. Very preoccupied with feeling part of him die when Sunstone died, since as twins their life force was connected and Moonstone had to feel every moment of him fading then his sudden absence. The only reason Moonstone survived is because both he and Sunstone had bonded to another mer as mates for their little family pod

3. Moonstone attacked his mate. The mate is unnamed (though I have nicknamed them as "Slate" in my head). After the death of his twin and loss of his own pup, his sanity was degrading rapidly over the years as he was in constant pain from missing half of his soul and greif. He had already been attacking other mers for some time and some cannibalsm had been starting as well. Which, definitely didn't help his steadily shattering mind.

At the end, he completely lost whatever sanity he had left and attacked his mate, killing them and consequently killing himself. Slate let it happen without a fight because they knew all of them would be better off, and that Moonstone had already been gone for a very long time. If not when Sunstone died, then sometime when Sols was still a very young pup. And so had they, just not as badly as Moonstone. They also knew neither of them were fit to care for Sols anymore and hadnt been for years, and while it wasn't a great choice, the mate figured Sols would be better off taking his chances alone.

Was it selfish? Yes. But by this point they were already an absent parent and were looking forward to neither of them constantly suffering just by being alive anymore. In a way, Slate's final act was to protect Sols by making sure Moonstone was focused only on them and would end up killing them, so he couldn't then turn on Sols and kill him too. Sols doesnt look much like Slate, but he does share the same tail fin shape as them.

Sols looks most like Sunstone in terms of colour, but has Moonstones eyes. Physically he looks very much like both Sunstone and Moonstone as they're twins. Though to Moonstone, who was forever grieving, Sols looked more like a mini Sunstone which added to his mental decline towards the end. Sols was a constant reminder of what he lost and why he had to stay, when he would have much rathered to join his twin and pup in death.

No way to help him?

Mer!ruin I mean..

I feel like there would be different ways to help the chronic pain, or even Ease it

I feel so sad for him, being in constant pain isn't fun at all..

How did this happen? Did the pirates damage his tail this badly when catching him?

Did they break it and it heald crookedly causing the present chronic pain?

Ruin's injuries are permanent and will continue to remain for the rest of his life. He does have methods to manage the pain however, cold bathes and regular gentle swimming to prevent the muscles seizing up. He also gets tail massages from Eclipse!

How he got the injury in the first place, it happened when he got caught and badly tangled in a large fishing net during the height of mer poaching. In his attempts to escape, his fins got torn on one side and his body was twisted in such a way that it broke his tail. He didn't realise he had broken it though until after he managed to pull himself free.

Now mers do heal pretty fast, and broken bones even vertebra are no exception. But due to how his tail broke, the bones ended up fusing wrong, leaving it permanently crooked and Ruin unable to swim as well with it as he used to.

As a result, he would grow gradually weaker with time as he was no longer able to hunt as effectively anymore, and while he was able to tag along with a few stray pods who provided for him best they could, due to many of them being on the constant move to evade poachers Ruin would inevitably be unable to keep up and was either left behind, or he would willingly part from them as to not slow them down. He'd already experienced losing his first original pod to the poachers, he wasn't going to be the cause of more mers losing theirs to them either.

So when he is captured, he was alone, and already too weak from hunger and fatigue to get away or even put up much of a fight. Thought that his time had finally come until he came face to face with a robot who looked strikingly like another mer at first glance. One that would save his life and ultimately start a new life with him.

Also i will say, while yes it is sad for Ruin to have to suffer with his chronic pain, he has long since learned how to live with it and he does now have a family around him who look after him and help make the worst days a little easier! He's provided with food and plenty of care from both Eclipse and their children, especially as the latter grows older.

All in all, he's quite content with the life he has now and he wouldn't want to change it.

For the swap merAU

Did swap mer! Eclipse also felt week while making the egg? (Do all mer's become a bit weak when making egg/s?)

Or is it just mer!Ruin who felt week because of his condition?

Eclipse mer did have some slight fatigue/tiredness which is pretty normal when making eggs! Since the eggs draw energy from the parent mer, it is only natural that the parent mer will feel drained as a result. It only affected Ruin as badly as it did because he doesn't have as much energy to spare on account of dealing with daily chronic pain which is rather draining in and of itself. He does have good days of course where he feels like he could swim around the world! But otherwise yeah sadly Ruin is pretty limited in how much energy he has compared to others of his kind.

You said that ruin was feeling week while having the egg, because it takes a lot of magic and energy to produce one, and ruin is already in a not so well condition...

How much did eclipse panic when he realized that ruin's health was slowly "declining"?

Also, how did He discover about the egg?

Did ruin have the same thought as swap merAU! eclipse when thinking about the child or not?

Ruin had asked Eclipse if he'd want to have a child with him before he started the process. He wasn't going to do it unless Eclipse was ok with it, and Eclipse would have needed to think on it for a couple days first before agreeing to it.

Also Ruin had told Eclipse beforehand that there was a good chance he would become ill from this, but not life threateningly so. This was because Ruin (correctly) guessed he'd only be capable of creating one egg instead of two or three, which would have definitely pushed the boundaries of what his body could handle and more than likely any other eggs would not have survived.

But even so, Eclipse did worry a lot for Ruin once he started showing signs of fatigue and the mild fevers began springing up. Ruin overheats easily in general so the fevers would occur quite frequently, especially leading up to the day the egg would be ready.

Why can mers only produce offsprings once in their lifetime?

I wonder how did the other three react when discovering that they will have another sibling

So mers are effectively immortal in that they do not die of old age. They can die by other means, but once they reach maturity they basically stop aging. (This doesn't count for wear and tear from rough times in life of course). So in order to prevent overpopulation each mer is limited to only being able to bear a single clutch of eggs in their lifetime.

As for how Sols and the Peas reacted when they learned they were getting a new sibling - in short, excitement from all parties jklfgh. The Peas from getting to experience being the older siblings for a change and Sols getting to be a big brother to a new baby sibling!

What song did ruin sing?

I'm kinda curious, did he sing in the mer language or in English?

Do they have a mer language of their own?

He sang it in mer language yes! Mers/Sirens have enchanting singing voices and they can use magic through them, some more powerful than others (it can take years of practice for a mer to hone their voice into something truly powerful like for example summoning storms, casting wards of protection or even healing mortal wounds)

The song he sung was one of healing. His level of enchanted singing is actually pretty high but it does take a lot of energy for him, so he only uses it in times of need.

How would the mers react to a thunderstorm?

Since a thunderstorm above the surface is very different from one when you are underwater

Ruin: Is untirely unfazed by thunderstorms, both underwater and out of it. He's experienced many of them over his lifetime, and he does quite enjoy listening to them! Eclipse doesn't like them though due to his fear of electrocution, so Ruin usually keeps himself busy staying by his side should they occur.

Sunpea/Moonpea: Both would be rather spooked by them at first, but Moonpea would become more curious and less fearful when Ruin shows them that they have nothing to fear. He'd even start watching them from the window. Sunpea would take a bit longer but he would start doing little flares at the window whenever a lightning flash occurs. He'd dart under whatever is closest once the thunder hits tho.

Sols: Doesn't like loud noises as they scare him. He'd find a tight spot to hide somewhere or he'd tuck himself under Ruin and/or Eclipse for safety.

Loon: Same as the peas, initially startled during his first one but would become like Ruin in being pretty unfazed by them. He'd be capable of sleeping soundly through them once he's used to them!

Hii hello!!

Are you asking me if i have any oc's i'd recommend to be doodled? In which case uuuuhhhhh- *rummages in my oc box* I have these three!

This is Milky Way! A small robot doll who was originally a fnaf oc but i've been re-working them to be a fulltime oc behind the scenes. Only minor tweaking really! They're 3ft tall and a little feral.

Rainbow the robot oc based on my computer of the same name. She's 9ft tall, likes naps and music! She wants to be a musician one day.

Hydra dragon called Nebula! He can change size but only from really big to really tiny small (like barely a foot long at his smallest) a gentle giant really, loves to be petted. Don't worry about the teeth.

And to answer your questions! Mers are surprisingly flexible creatures, and Ruin is no exception to this! Though more care must be given when moving him because of his crippled tail. Basically Eclipse would shift him so his tail is carefully coiled around him (a common sleeping position for mers is the donut/swirl) which would also aid in keeping him propped up with his head out of the water.

For Eclipse this is more a safety measure in case there isn't enough oxygen in the water for Ruin to breathe (there would be but Eclipse is too frantic to risk anything at that point)

As for how long it takes Ruin to recover, it would be at least a month! Maybe a little over one. He'd be back to his usual self after a week of rest but he'd be sluggish and slow for a little while after as he regains his energy. The first few days would be rather stressful for them both still as they'd be keeping a very close eye on the egg to ensure it doesn't start to dull and fade again. To their relief though it would continue to remain bright and lively!

Loon wouldn't stop talking or lose his voice, what would happen is that when he does start talking as he gets older he'd speak in small sentences because of his weak vocals/jaw. Kind of like how Moon does in security breach! Similar raspiness too.

Eating also is less an issue in and of itself, but he would prefer softer foods as they'd be easier to swallow and chew up if needed.
