I have finally finished this after a few hours of work, they are finally done, now if you excuse me I’m gonna drink coffee all night, and stay up working on quite a few things!

Nevin rolled his eyes as Chris spoke, the taller boy’s words flying right over his head as the two walked home together. He wasn’t paying much attention, but it wasn’t meant to be cruel. He’d just had a long day and was ready to get home, collapse on his bed, and blast music so loud the walls started rattling. Truly, it was the best plan he could think of.

At least until he saw the two Halloween decorations standing in front of his house.

Chris and Nevin stopped short, one of Nevin’s eyebrows raising in confusion while Chris made a… very animated expression. They were skeletons— neither any more than five foot four, maybe five foot five if you squinted. One had bright white bones, a golden circlet around its’ skull, and wore what appeared to be a prince costume in purple. The other seemed to be dripping black tar with a teal tint to it, reminding Nevin of the goop he occasionally secreted. He couldn’t make out what the goopy skeleton was wearing.

He was mildly unnerved. If this was meant to be a joke, he wasn’t laughing. The fuck is this? Did Quinton put them here? I’ll beat his ass if this was him.

Chris turned to him and whispered, “Those look real.”

This is enough to catch the attention of the skeletons, which apparently are real. The goopy one only has one visible socket, and inside is a single teal iris. The other has two purple irises, and somehow both of them can manage to form facial expressions. Neither looks pleased. They begin to walk towards him.

Nevin has always prided himself on having better self preservation skills than his brother, but just this once he throws them out the window. It’s mostly because of the situation being absolutely absurd.

“Who the hell are you?” Nevin’s mouth falls open dumbly, part of his hair falling in his face as the goopy skeleton reaches him.

The skeleton pulls his arm back and slugs Nevin square in the jaw, knocking him back. Nevin makes an amusing ‘oof!’ sound as he falls on his ass, and the skeleton proceeds to kick him in the gut.

The second skeleton— Purple, for lack of a better name —joins the first, Goop Lord, and kicks him in the gut again. One steps on his hand, but he can’t tell which. Nevin lets out a strangled cry as his head is forced backward with another kick. He watches Chris try to fly forward, to help him, but Purple shoves him back with an infuriated look on his face, his mouth opening. “You stay out of this!” Purple’s voice is nearly identical to Nevin’s. This revelation does nothing for him, as he’s still too busy getting his ass beaten by a couple of skeletons.

Goop Lord’s foot collides with the side of his skull, and it has Nevin seeing stars. He doesn’t remember anything after that.

Nevin wakes up to Drew pushing his hair from his face, concern written across his features. His twin’s bewilderment mirrors his own.

“Chris said you got beaten up by skeletons?” Drew’s voice is quiet, absolute confusion barely hidden in his voice.

Nevin groans, grabbing onto the back of the couch and pulling himself into a sitting position. “I… I think I did?” He brings a hand to his forehead. Pain throbs beneath his skin. Drew’s healing works miracles, but it doesn’t always erase the pain. Nevin can see the branches hidden in Drew’s curls. “Did fucking Quinton send them?”

Drew shakes his head. “I don’t think so.”

Chris’ voice sounds from the other room. “Uh, those skeletons are in the backyard.”

Nevin’s eyes go wide and his mouth falls open in shock. He instinctively clutches at his stomach, and he sees a very afraid look in his brother’s eyes. “Can you just pretend I’m not here?”

The knocking on the back door says otherwise. Nevin stands up and prepares himself for yet another ass beating.
