Weekly wrap on stock for the week ended Friday 10-May

Indian stocks followed the negative reaction on the back of the trade dispute between the US and China together with uncertainty due to the ongoing general elections, during the week. The benchmark indices fell eighth consecutive day on Friday when the Nifty closed 23 points down and Sensex ended lower by 96 points in a highly volatile trading session. Sensex ended the week down by 3.9% at 37,462.99 points and the Nifty ended 3.7% at 11,278.90. The fall was mainly led by Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) which plunged about 10% during the week. RIL closed the week at Rs.1,245.75/share on NSE. All sectoral stocks witnessed selling pressure for the week. The Nifty Media Index was the top loser, which was down 6.7%. Nifty Metal down 6.3%, the Nifty Energy lost 5.9% and the Nifty Realty slipped 4.3% for the week. On the other hand, The Nifty Metal outperformed by rising 1.1% followed by Nifty Energy index, which gained 0.8% for the week. At the result front, State Bank of India on Friday reported good asset quality numbers. The lender reported a net profit of Rs838.40-Cr.   Canara Bank also posted a strong set of numbers, for the entire year 2018-19 it has posted a net profit of Rs.347,02-Cr, that boosted sentiment for the banking sector. Asian Paints reported a fall in profit due to higher raw material prices, whereas Apollo Tyres posted 66% year-on-year fall in profits. Market Update: Sensex Nifty Rise, ADAG Stocks Up

Equity benchmarks continued gains for the 7th consecutive trading session on Tuesday, with shares of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) companies moving higher. The Sensex was trading 60points up at 38,155 levels while the NSE’s Nifty gained 10 points at 11,472-levels at 9.50am, Tuesday. Shares of Reliance Communications (RCom) rose 10perpcent after Mukesh Ambani help brother Anil to settle Ericsson dues. Among stocks, GAIL, ONGC, Sun Pharma, IOC and Grasim were the top gainers on the NSE. On the other side, Hero Moto Corp, Eicher Motors, BajajAuto, JSW Steel and Larsen &Toubro lost the most on the NSE. All sectoral spaces are seen on a mixed note on the NSE. Nifty PSU Bank and Pharma indices gained near one percent, while the Nifty Auto, metal and private bank indies slipped maximum by near 1%. Sensex Nifty Up, Bank Stocks Rise

Sensex, Nifty trade higher the fourth consecutive session on Thursday, with Nifty Bank is registering a record high. The BSE Sensex was trading at 37,774, up 6%, while the broader NSE Nifty50 was ruling at 11,342 at 10.40 am, Thursday. Banking and finance stocks led the gains with Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, SBI, and HDFC Bank gaining the most on Nifty50, while, HeroMoto Corp, HPCL, Ultratech Cement, Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto were losers. Nifty Bank hit a record high at opening trade, clocking the 29,000-marks. Also Nifty Realty, Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Media were the other sectors gaining in the day. Yes Bank gains 2.87% as Deutsche Bank raised its price target. Shares of Tata Motors erased its morning losses and were trading higher 0.17% up at Rs182 per share after JLR vehicle recall. Market ends at record closing level, Sensex up 553pts, auto, metal stocks up

Sensex, Nifty ended at record closing highs on Monday amid RBI rate-cut hopes and slide in crude oil prices. Crude Oil prices declined by over 1pc on Monday, extending losses of over 3pc that was on Friday. The BSE Sensex benchmark settled 553pts higher at record closing high of 40,268-level  while the Nifty50 added 166pts to end at new closing high of 12,088. The Nifty Midcap rose 1% while the Nifty Smallcap was up 0.2%. HeroMoto Corp, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, and Indiabulls Housing were among the major Nifty50 gainers, whereas GAIL, NTPC, TechMahindra, ICICI Bank, and UltraTech Cement led the losses. All sectoral indices, barring Nifty Media, moved on  the a positive territory, where the Nifty Auto advanced the most, up 1.9% followed by the NiftyMetal up 1.7%.  Also, the Nifty FMCG & the IT indices went up over 1%. Auto stock such as HeroMoto Corp rose 5.77% to Rs.2835 per share, while BajajAuto gained 3.55% on healthy auto sales data for the month of May. Shares of oil marketing companies advanced for the three regular sessions on sliding crude oil prices. IOC rose 2.45% to Rs169.60 per share, while BPCL gained 1.87% to Rs.417 per share  and Oil India  gained 1.19%  to Rs182.15per share on the NSE, while the Nifty Energy index rose 1.21%  to  16,760-levels.
